Caroline Madison is curvy, beautiful, and often the life of the party. Her confident, easy going personality has the ability to make everyone feel comfortable. Unfortunately, once the party is over, her voice sends men running far, far away. She’s never been asked on a second date, and as much as she wants a life filled with love and her own family, she knows she’s destined to be a one date wonder.
Lucas Wellington, a grizzly bear shifter, owns the best sandwich shop in Bear Canyon. Despite his past, he’s made a life for himself that anyone would be proud of. The only thing missing is a mate. Unfortunately, male shifters outnumber the women three to one, and the thought of placing an ad for a bride is out of the question. He’d hate to find the one, only to have her look at him with disgust when his past is revealed.
After yet another failed date, Caroline decides a vacation is in order. She visits Bear Canyon, not for the ratio of men to women, but to see her newly married best friends. When she meets Luke, their attraction is instant, but after one fantastic date Luke rejects her. Luke vows to keep his distance, but Caroline’s voice sooths him in a way he can’t explain and he can’t stay away forever. In a last ditch effort to save his future, Luke exposes his secrets. Will Caroline turn him away, or will she finally get the second date she’s always dreamed of?
I would like this one better if the H didn't keep on pushing the h away. I prefer the heroes do the chasing but here, it's more of the h.
The story was about Luke (bear shifter), 32 and Caroline (human).
Caroline's a legal secretary. She was often approached by men but once she opens her mouth, they lose interest. She's never been asked for a second date.
She missed her two best friends, Sabrina (book1 h) and Dawn (book2 h). They asked her to take a vacation and visit them.
Luke owns the Well's Sandwich Shop in Bear Canyon where Caroline and her friends had a meal. It was the first time they saw each other. He asked her out and she invited her to join her and her friends for a pool party. They had a great night together. But he changed and rejected her the following day. He's afraid she'll find out about his past. It's also the reason why he pushed her away.
The man who saved him and his younger sister, Lily showed up and knocked some sense into him. That't the only time he went after her and claimed her.
Quality of the book is the same as others in the series. My poor rating reflects my disappointment in the Hero's treatment of the heroine, his lack of confidence and her taking him back so easily. He should have been the most endearing Hero of the series, but he was instead an insecure jerk who treated the heroine poorly.
"Bear Seeking Bride: Luke" Bear Canyon Bears book #4 by author Ruby Shae. My Rating: 3 Stars...
Book four in this series features the romance of grizzly bear shifter Luke Wellington and a BBW human woman, Caroline Madison.
Luke owns Bear Canyon's popular sandwich shop. Luke has a past that haunts him, makes him believe that he is unworthy of love. Poor Luke is resigned to the fact that he will live a lonely life, unmated. Not only does he have his past against him but Bear Canyon has three times a many males than female shifters. And whatever humans are in town are already mated to bears.
Caroline has no trouble getting a date. Unfortunately the men she dates seem to run away after only one. She has what she describes as a loud annoying voice that turns many people off. But she can't help that. She is who she is. But for this reason, she believes she will never find her HEA. While on vacation visiting her best friends in Bear Canyon, she meets Luke. They are instantly attracted to each other and Luke can't get her off his mind. But after one amazing date, Luke backs off. But not for the reason Caroline thinks. Luke actually loves her voice. Still, Caroline is hurt even though she is used to rejection. She wanted to believe Luke was different. Her attraction to him was something she never felt before.
I enjoyed watching Luke find the courage to go after Caroline before it was too late and she left town. I believe he would have chased her if she did. With some prompting and advice from his sister Lily and their guardian he was determined to fix things with Caroline. He believed with all his heart that she was his mate. He would tell her about his past and pray she still wanted him.
This was another sweet, super short story in this series. I love Ruby Shae's bear series'. When I want short, satisfying stories, I know hers will be perfect.
I didn't understand what the deal was with her voice that would make someone not want to be with her. Seemed like a stupid excuse to me. It was ok. Not my favorite as I had problems understanding why and what the problem was. His uncle abused him and he was embarrassed why! Disfigurement I understand but he was young what could he do against an adult other than report him and that's difficult at best. I loved the guardian.
It was an OK read, though, a silly plot. Caroline was unlucky in love because men tend to hate her voice for some reason. 😳🙄😒 Luke pushed her away because he has scars on his back from a traumatic childhood. He is a bear shifter. Of all shifters, scars are a given on a bear shifter, I would think. 🙄😒😩

This really needs to be 3 1/3 stars. I did enjoy this book. I just didn't Ike the way he treated her. I mean I get why he treated her that way, but I dealt she got burned more than once by him but she was too quick to forgive.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5 Luke and Caroline’s story offers a great balance of light-hearted moments and emotional stakes. Caroline’s fear of rejection and Luke’s secrets create believable tension, while their chemistry and mutual growth provide a satisfying payoff. The writing continues to emphasize warmth, acceptance, and the value of inner beauty.
I started in the middle (rebel, rebel) with Bear Seeking Bride: Luke (Book 4). The concept is original and imaginative: not only are shifters “accepted” in this society, but they have unique problems, like a lack of shifter females. Luke is probably an interesting one to start off with because he isn’t exactly your “typical” Alpha male. He carries a damaged past which makes it hard for him to get close to anyone else, but he’s almost incredibly sweet, which I found very refreshing and engaging.
The real star of this book, however, is our heroine, Caroline. Curvy, charming, and incredibly herself, Caroline censors herself for no man which, unfortunately, puts her on the wrong end of a couple fly-by romances. Once she meets Luke, however, their romance feels natural and, although unorthodox, somehow works for the unconventional pair. The sexy was steamy, the romance was endearing, and I fell in love with the pair! Now that I’ve read one of the books in the series, I’m definitely going to go back and read the rest!
Caroline is fun loving and outgoing, but her voice tends to turn people away. She comes to Bear Canyon to visit her friends and meets the local sandwich shop owner, Luke. He instantly recognizes Caroline as a mate and pursues her. But he has a past that he's not comfortable sharing and believes it's for the best to let Caroline go. But even still he can't get her out of his head.
This was probably this author's best work so far IMHO. First of all it breaks formula. The heroine is confident, no body-image issues and not so emotional that she gets all whiny and bent out of shape that the guy she barely knows won't go on a second date with her. She lets it go, which is healthy. I liked Caroline because of her ability to keep things in perspective. Then there's the hero, Luke. He's the one with body-image issues! He was otherwise a bit boring and self-pitying, but it was refreshing to see something different. An excellent addition to the series.

I really enjoyed this short story. Part of my enjoyment was seeing my favorite characters from the Bear Canyon Brides series, but this is a standalone story with a Happy Ever After. The heroine, a human, is popular in parties, but guys don't ask her out a second time. Luke, a bear shifter, has issues from the past that make him avoid close relationships. They have an immediate interest in each other, and go on a date, and go home for coffee (yeah, sure, coffee--I really meant hot sex). Then he doesn't ask her out for a second date. To her, it seems like more of her normal track record. But, actually, he has fallen in love and is afraid to make a move. They work it out a bit too fast, but chalk that up to the fated mate stuff going on with shifters, and in this series, the human ladies feel it too.
A great coffee time quick enjoyable read. You won’t be sorry. Sometimes you just need a book that is sweet, uncomplicated and fun to read. This book was it, just a little too much insta love but the time frame forces this to happen. I was horrified about the treatment Luke received by his uncle, what a monster. Caroline we met in book 1, she is Sabrina and Dawns best friend and comes for a holiday. One look at Luke and she is smitten. They spend the night together then Luke gives her the cold shoulder due to his scars and fears. Caroline thinks it is due to her voice and that she just has bad luck with men. Luke is scared of telling Caroline about his past and showing her his scars. It is only when his adoptive dad talks some sense into him that he pursues Caroline. Another good HEA.
When you only get one seems you're a one time date only gal you'll resign yourself to be alone and move forward but it's not always easy when you feel something special just happened. Now you're left wondering but it's not you that has fears to drives you to run away from the best thing that walked into your life. Well you have to read the story to see what happens but you'll enjoy finding out. This series is sweet and steamy with engaging characters that will have you rooting for them.
Luke and Caroline's story was good. His past was very sad. He was the Bear Valley Sandwich shop owner. He did not know if anyone would every want him and accept his past.
Caroline feels like she is the one date wonder. Her voice is irritating to guys she dates. No one ever wants a second date. She figures she will always be alone. Her girlfriends invite her to visit them in Bear Valley for two weeks. She accepts.
A very sweet romantic story. This couple is really meant to be. She gets attention but never a second date. He avoids people because of childhood scars. They have an immediate attraction and things look good until he shuts her out. With the help of family and friends, they find their way back together.
A woman bold in size and personality, who happens to be a bear shifter, seeks love in a town where all the residents are bear shifters. This book started a little slow for me (too much telling, not enough showing), but it got much better and turned into a quick, enjoyable read. Great when you want something fun and light.
I started reading Bear seeking Bride: Travis. After that I was hooked on the Mallory Brothers. I have ready every single book that Ruby Shae has published and I love them all.i cant's wait until Drew's book.
These books are so much fun to read!! They are short but they are packed with fun, sweetness, and complete entertainment!! In this story, these two characters are so relatable, that they are my favorite couple. I can't wait for more!!
I love the other books but this one, i didnt, the heroine i thought was too forgiving and should of made the hero work a little harder to get her forgiveness, especially when he keeps rejecting her. But other than that it was somewhat an ok read.
I love the mail order series. Davis's story is still my favorite but, Luke's is running a close second. I actually have a friend who is loud, so it was easy to visualize Caroline. I am looking forward to reading the next one.
I was wondering about Carolines story;I'm soon glad to read it. Also loved the story line the angst Luke went thru and loved to other future story lines. Thank you Ruby. How soon till Lily and Drew story soon please were!
A big must read. You get the other girls friend Caroline's story. I loved it!! Luke, the broken bear has deep secrets from his past. Can he overcome them to have a future with Caroline. I'm anxious from the other to be released books in the series....
I love Ruby Shae books especially this series, these books can't be released fast enough. Such sweet, complete fully developed characters in a short story with hot sex scenes.
I loved this story. It's amazing what a misunderstanding can do to a couple's relationship - or should I say lack of a relationship. This was a fast, fun read. I really enjoy this series.
