"I ruined him. Now, he's here to ruin me."

Thirteen years ago, Adora made an impossible choice. With a single lie, she sent the only man she ever loved to prison, believing she had no other way to save her sister. She knew the moment she told the lie, she would be a dead woman walking.

She was right.

Dominic is gone. In his place stands Ghost, a man hardened by betrayal, pain, and the years he spent barely surviving behind bars. The boy who once whispered her name with love now only speaks it with venom. And he's been waiting for this moment.

He will break her. He will make her suffer. And by the time he realizes he was wrong, it's already too late.

But Ghost is not a man to admit defeat. He will make her love him again, no matter what.

Warning: This book contains graphic content, violence and strong language. Reader discretion is advised. This is a standalone book, part of the Iron Vultures MC series. Happy-ever-after guaranteed.

I write what your heart fears and your soul craves.

Twisted romances. Dark fantasy. Gods and monsters. Broken mates. Unapologetic grovels. Stories that will make you rage, cry, and laugh when you least expect it. And yes, I also sprinkle on some cheese. I've seen your reviews! They were entertaining.

If you love betrayal, revenge, morally gray heroes, and fierce, wounded heroines who rise from the ruin, you're in the right place.

By day, I work with words, images, and strategy. By night, I disappear into worlds of dark love, forbidden magic, and shattered bonds.

You’ll find me surrounded by at least three oversized cups of coffee, hunched over a laptop full of heartbreak, and vibing to a playlist that swings from heavy metal and electro-pop to tragic cellos and violins.

Follow me if you're ready to feel everything, and then some.

Really wanted to love this one, but I made the fatal mistake of expecting it to compare to the first book, but it just didn't.

The FMC is nothing like the first book's FMC, and while I accepted and liked that later on, it was a letdown that the grovel and redemption of the first book was not found in this one.

‼️ Spoilers ‼️

Don't expect the grovel to match what this asshole did. He's unforgivable, and while the first MMC was also unforgivable, he crawled back from the pit he dug himself and went above and beyond to make true and lasting changes. It wasn't the same here.

The hard thing with this book is that both of the MCs were at fault to a degree, but they were so enmeshed with each other throughout the entire story that I don't think either of them truly healed. At least not until years and years later in the epilogue. They had a toxic asf relationship and they had a toxic asf reconciliation and they were just comfortable with that. It was what they both knew AND wanted.

And the worst part is that I still wanted them together even after all of that (and the things below). Idk maybe my brain isn't functioning well rn but I just accepted that we wouldn't get the level of grovel the situation deserved, and that these two would just heal by ending the lives of those who put them in that situation and moving on together by ignoring what had happened, and nothing was make them less dependent on each other.

The difference about this FMC is that she was hopelessly in love with him no matter what, and the difference with this MMC is that he wasn't going to let her move on without him. I hate that so much, but we also see their struggles in their chapters and we can FEEL why they truly were never going to be able to move on separately.

The epilogue was cute and I accepted their decades long road to recovery even though nothing about how it went down is what I think either of them deserved.

"Why can’t I let him go? Why, even now, is it him that brings me peace?"

Other thoughts:

The timeline is still unclear asf to me. I thought it had been 10 years, then it was clear it had been more but not how much more. Then he had been in jail for 5 years, but waited for her to divorce her husband before coming for her (she was married like 10 years?? Her sister was 8 and she waited until she was an adult to divorce), but also had to wait 2 years after that bc his president made him. Numbers kept getting thrown around and it wasn't until the end that we're told that it was 15 years, but I'm still unclear on whether that included the 1 hear he spent faking happiness with her and the half year after that he spent trying to get back with her, or the months he spent in the hospital after that? Idk how long things really took here, or even how old these characters are now.

The FMC's pranks were so juvenile. And don't get me wrong, I've read books with stuff like this before and thought it was hilarious. It just didn't fit the situation here. I get why she was written this way, and it has to do with her finally allowing herself to do these things while also remaining true to herself by not truly hurting someone. I also like that he lowkey loved her pranks...it just wasn't really enough for me. She completely spiraled and then instead of holding him accountable for how he knowingly pushed her to try to end her life, she just planted glitter bombs and glued his jeans to his bike and then secretly cherished his very simple notes he left her while pining over him. This is the extent of her taking back her power.

And don't get me started on how the MMC seemed to have more spark arguing back and forth with a side character (Ria) at one point than with the FMC. I'm ignoring that, because it was just giving the crumbs of defiance I was hoping for the main couple instead.

There's no OW/OM drama in the current timeline. The MMC says he slept around with women in the club for a year when he was fresh out of jail (10-ish years earlier), but hadn't been with anyone else there, and none of those women are still with the club. The FMC had slept with other men in those same years of their separation and had GOOD sex in that time (I'm tempted to raise my rating just for this because it's so rare in these romances), but never was with her evil husband she was forced to marry. The MMC gets jealous when he sees her interact with side characters but she's never into them.

Warnings for a suicide attempt. And she's driven to it purposely by the MMC when he's stopped from killing her (yeah...). Just before that, he's triggered by something she says in her sleep so he decides he's going to shoot her but wants to fuck her one last time. She thinks everything is just fine and they're still a happy couple until he wakes her by suddenly fucking her and doesn't let her come, then drags her out of bed. In my eyes that's very dubious consent, so do with that information what you will....

4.5 ✨

there it is, my first 3rd chance romance

it was messy, it was hard, too long maybe!? who cares, I inhaled every page

it was not perfect ... not at all (that timeline needs to be revised!! and please, for the love of god, let's stop with the pranks.. it got old and cringe real fast while the effect on the mmc of all those moments were just meh).... but after a long time, I finally couldn't put a book down.

I wanted to kick him in the n*ts numerous times. And he definitely deserved all the pain and misery, and even so much more!!

I'll come back for more, can't wait for the next one!

fyi: for a complete reading experience I recommend starting with the first book

This book is almost as bad as the one before it which earned 1 star as well. done with this author and her really bad writing

Book of the year for me, if I could give more stars, I would

this is not a light story and contains all types of abuse and other other triggers. Please don’t skip them for your own good.

This was unhinged. Every time I thought that we are finally in the clear, another gut punch or plot twist was served cold. The grip and hold this story has on me, is like no other.

Characters:

Adora: I am sooo glad she met Ria. She really needed that crazy aura to give her the confidence back to be a witch herself. Her burning 🏠 down had me screaming through the house from proudness.

Ghost: well, I have to agree with Himera, he was sooo much worse than Bones, I honestly did not see that coming, like none of it. His story was so dark though that I kinda felt sorry for him the whole book while at the same time wishing Ria’s poison on him 😂 yes I am a complex woman.

😱 Angst: daamn mother, this was advertised as a HEA but the HEA just wasn’t coming! I was on my toes and in my feelings the whole time!! Like 90% in the book and I was still not believing that something else wouldn’t happen!

P.S. I am honestly afraid for what’s coming in the next books. Silk might be similar but Joker will definitely be a blood bath.

*Exhales aggressively while thinking*

The book is well written and Ria and Griffen are the best side character duo that I've read in a long time. My hang ups are two fold: the FMC, Adora, and her pranks.

Adora is a mouthy character with nothing to back it up. She's aware of Ria's situation which means she should also be aware that being associated with her, none-the-less living with her, makes her a target as well. Yet, she bemoaned the protection with a "I can take care of myself attitude" that had zero substance. She doesn't know how to handle a weapon nor does she know how to fight. So, how exactly, is she able to take care of herself if someone attacks her or tries to kidnap her?

And then the pranks? Maybe 1 would have been petty fun. But multiple? When there's real threats about and these pranks can potentially cost lives if executed at the wrong time? No. Adora is so soft she never would've forgiven herself if someone had gotten hurt or killed as a result of her petty prank revenge.

I do like seeing this timeline play out through different characters eyes and I think this author did a brilliant job on that front. I just found the FMC so GD unlikeable throughout the entire book.

I really loved the authors first book but I had a hard time with this one. Adora and Ghost met years ago and were in love, but Adora gets blackmailed by her evil mother in order to save her sister. Adora agrees to testify against Ghost and make the initial complaint to the police against him. He’s gets put behinds bars for years and is beaten and raped. When he gets out all he wants is revenge. This was probably the first time I was backing the MC in a book, because the entire thing gets turned around and now Ghost is the bad guy? They were both toxic as a couple but they were both majority at fault. Adora really needed a therapist, not an MC!

Liar 🖤

A great 2nd book in the series. I loved book 1 (Bones+Temperance) and enjoyed Ghost and Adoras story equally as much, if not more.

It was a story of betrayal and revenge and redemption, but it was also a heartbreaking story of endurance and a Love that was stronger than Hatred. I cried (more than once)and had a giggle or two at the pranks, banter and seemingly idiotic antics of the brothers but thoroughly enjoyed myself along the way. 🖤

Typical MC romance

Lots of back and forth, I hate you/You are mine drama with a twist of forever. The cover is much better than the actual story.

Every Time He Overruled Her With "Adorable", I Wanted Him To Die. Where's The Romance? All Of It Is Him Abusing Her. Not Once Is She Heard, Only DARVO'd and Bombed, Needs To Be Flayed

He abuses her.

And I think you normalise abuse if you hate the FMC.

But its ok, I love hating Male Supremacists.

Theres always bad men.

Fuck off with this protection abuse.

Never experiences ego death.

Needed him to hurt.

Abuser.

Women that write that men "walk into the trap too" or "broke my heart too" are the reason abuser like Johnny Depp believe theyre being mutually abused.

Twat, vaccuous, unseen, unloved and utterly unfucked women who pretending addiction is love.

He never loved her.

He was a twat and possessed her.

Love Bombed her to manipulate her.

But then these women are all pathetic.

They normalise men that objectify women to their parts.

I would never share oxygen with ye.

Pathetic.

Therapy doesn't work for these kind of men, they just get more covery.

Its always a relief for the community when these men self destruct.

Twat.

No man actually fights for a woman he hurts.

He sits down and shuts up.

But nah, hes in her face all time.

So toxic

I hate his da, wanted to gut him.

Want to.gut them all for encouraging him to abuse her, triangulating her.

He did not have a single psychotic episide.

It really annoys me the way Women like thid abusive author let me pretend that violence against women happens because of mental illness, instead of mental privilege.

I think I hate you.

He needed to die.

Outright.

But you are an abuser.

Only women get abused in your story and then DARVO'd and abused some more.

No, she never overcomes the trauma bond

Women like this author are the reason that when a man does kill himself around me, I'm only concerned if they brought someone with them.

Can't survive their Male Supremacist world? Can't shed Male Supremacy? Then die.

You are worth nothing.

I love my tribe.

No man gets to pretend "hurt people, hurt people." In our tribe its, "Hurters of People, Get To Weaponise All Hurt They've Felt Into Continuing Control Cycles."

I hate Ria and Temperance by the end of this, Communally Abusing And Triangulating his abuse victim, that he abused to suicide, into believing she could love someone who forced her to commit suicide.

I wanted Bones to die.

Hes a triangulator.

How dare he make her feel bad when he pushed her to suicide?

Fuck off.

None of these men have mental illness, they are all just privileged chodes.

Not even suicide of them is enough, must be ego death and if they die doing it, its their waste.

Its a toxic author that has her FMC claim she felt loved but yet shes not sage to express.

People like you are why I never get on my knees for men, why I never give them Blow Jobs, and despite knowing that, I'm the one they want.

They rush to get on their knees because I dom't baby them.

You do.

You save them from their choices so they abuse and cheat over and over again.

Need some standards that set you apart from other women and never getting on your knees makes them chase like never before.

I always laugh because the women who love the anal rape scenes, are always so privileged they have IBS.

It was all fake.

That gaslighting the author tries to do with us where we have to pretend hes not hating her thw whole time?

And hes not complex, hes not mentally ill, he is merely, simply, toxic.

The amount of times he rapes her in this is gross.

Makes me glad that Gen Z rejection fascist notions like Consensual Non Consent.

Why is there this whole boring ass section where hes chasing down her other abusers? That doesn't absolve him.

Gawd hes so fucking toxic.

First of all we have NO idea how anyone looks as there's no description beyond Adora having hazel eyes and honey nipples. Ghost has dark eyes, is tall (?) They both have hair that is at least long enough to grab. I'd assume everyone is white since most authors see that as the default. But the BAD GUYS are BROWN, speak spanish l, and are in the CARTEL. So maybe the author should examine that choice.

Unfortunately for me, this grovel wasn't it. The characters never gave each other any space to heal. Zero. I didn't expect Adora to be like Temperance, but she wasn't a very strong character. I LOVE how we completely glossed over him literally starving her and denying her water for 3 weeks and don't even list it as one of his sins. Adora never stops loving him...which is fine but her love obscures everything else including her healing. She never takes a step back to just be herself outside of her relationship with Ghost as she's always flirting or having feelings at every interaction.

Ghost never gives her any space, respects not a single one of her boundaries. He throws a fit of epic proportions but never addresses that he is too quick to anger without any information. He comes across as selfish.

Timeline is off somehow. It's not entirely clear I thought he was in jail for 5 years then 5 years later Adora came back onto the scene. But then he says during the current story, allegedly 5 years after he got out that he was fresh out of jail 10 years ago?

Verdict? Not totally bad but definately did not pack the punch of Traitor, which has been my favorite grovel to date.

I thought Traitor was nigh on perfect. Frankly, I haven't stopped thinking about the first book in this series since I read it. I was not expecting to be absolutely blown away with how much I loved this installment. Liar was perfect. You will rarely catch me saying that a romance novel (regardless of subgenre) is totally worth being 550+ pages, but with this? I would not think to change a single thing.

This was such a good book about revenge, feminine rage, yearning, and forgiveness. The relationship between Adora and Ghost/Dominic was so well written from start to finish. We start with the beginning of Ghost's revenge. Adora gave false testimony that ended up sending him to prison for 5 years so in the eyes of everyone (Adora included), Ghost was due his revenge. And it started with a bang. It Wass just so good. But where this really shined was Adora's breaking point and her consequential fight to get back at Ghost. I loved every minute of it.

The mental health rep was done well enough here. I particularly connected with Adora throughout this. I appreciate that therapy was incredibly important to the characters' healing processes (albeit Ghost was reluctant and his wasn't a major focus after a while in this.) The plot has fantastic pacing. It's purposefully slow because the relationship needed to have time taken to rebuild and the trust between characters did not come easy.

I really just loved every single minute of this. Himera Ink is just one of my favorite male groveling authors and I'll read anything and everything they write.

2.5/5 stars. Really read the trigger warnings if you need that. This series is crazy on extended grovel, and has such a huge focus on that.

This series does the thing where the stories weave together over parallel time periods. If I hadn’t already read Traitor, it would have been a little confusing since so many of the side characters pop in with their own situations. You just have to go with it when other stories intersect and I’m assuming will be covered in later books. But it still felt a little disorienting or that I was missing a lot of side character background with time jumps as well.

The logic/rationale didn’t always make sense. The reactions seemed way overblown for the situations. Also, it feels like they both flipped from hate to love super quick with not that much in between. It felt like the book length is long enough that those transitions should have been a little smoother for their feelings changing. But so much of the book covered the side characters and bits and pieces of where their stories will be heading in future books in the series which isn’t necessarily helpful for this book.

The pranks were kind of ridiculous and childish. They started out of nowhere, but at least it moved the plot a long a bit for a reconciliation. Ria also just flipped suddenly to being cool with Ghost, too.

Loses its way halfway through the book.

Second book in the Iron Vultures series and second time reading this author. Story starts off along a somewhat dark path but quickly lightens up to a pretty straightforward MC read. Both the main and supporting characters are standard fare for this type of writing. Unfortunately halfway through some characters have had a personality transformation and the story takes on a more comical tone. Just before I ran out of patience with this change of direction the story picks up somewhat but ultimately I was left wondering what the author was trying to do with their writing style. A large portion of the storyline runs along the same timeline as the first book in the series so it may be beneficial to read book one first (I definitely prefer book one). Overall not an awful read but if you are looking for a dark gritty MC you won’t find much darkness or grit in this book. Will I be reading book three when it’s released? Probably but with the hope that the author returns to the far better writing from book one rather than this mediocre book.

Not as good as Traitor…

Just my humble opinion, but this second in the series didn’t live up to the standards of the first one. Again, just my opinion.

So, the first part is where Ghost has grabbed Adora and now she’s caged. He’s barely feeding and watering her. And the reason he is doing this is because she testified against him and he went to prison. Naturally he blames her but he won’t listen to what actually happened.

This went on a bit, but I got bored with it since it’s not my thing at all. So I skimmed, and then I did some selective searches to find out what the deal really was. Finally I jumped pretty much to the last five chapters and got the tail end of the Bowie saga, plus a nice little epilogue.

KU and although I bought the first book, I won’t be buying this one just yet. I think I needed to be in the mood to really read this instead of skimming. Not there just yet and I may come back to it at a later date.

Great author, long book

I enjoyed this second book in the series, but by the 300 page I started to skim.
Dominic/Ghost and Aurora have a tragic past full of trauma for them both. Years later Dominic kidnaps Aurora for revenge. She sent him to prison where it definitely wasn't sunshine and roses. For her part her family was evil and abuse was rampant.
Here's where things went wonky for me. We seem to have multiple storylines running in the same book. Bones and Temperance, Ria and Tank, Teresa and Luca, Ghost and Adora, and at least 2 more with characters from the club. I already read Bones book. I didn't need to read it again, but it intertwined with this book. Same for Ria's story.
The best part of the book for me was towards the end when finally we just have Ghost and Adorable figuring out there relationship.
The author could have lost more than 100 pages and this book would have been a more exciting read.

i read the first one and thought is ok. a bit of a wild ride and ott so i thought giving this a chance might be alright too. um, nooooo. it was incredibly convoluted, hard to follow, the timeline had me scratching my head, if didn't read the first book, you might be a little lost so this is not a standalone, the characters were weak, immature, toxic, it was just too much, toooo much. didn't like either character. i would have preferred both to have moved on. being inside ghost's head was nauseating. anyways, i may or may not check out others as they come out but really this should have just stayed on wattpad.

Liar: A Second Chance, Iron Vultures MC2

Gritty, compelling, raw, vulnerable, sinister and addictive!
I discovered Iron Vultures MC1 a few months ago and was hooked almost instantly, completely invested and enthralled by the characters and story.
Once again with MC2 my mind was utterly sucked in to the book as though I was there watching it unfold before my eyes.
10 out of 10, another smasher for Himera Ink on this series.
Can't wait for MC3!!

Absolutely Perfect

This couple quickly lodged in my heart and they're still there, even after I've read the last page.

Their story was so complex and I felt each and every up and down with them. I have laughed, cried and shouted at them and the author in equal measure.

Another great story. Can't wait until the next one.

A quick and entertaining read. He’s the bully and the she’s the target. I did wish she had a little more fire in her and pushed back more, but I still enjoyed their journey. Their romance?!?! Definitely not a second, but a third chance at love, with plenty of angst, growth, and redemption along the way.

This is the second book in the Iron Vultures MC series and I absolutely loved it. Just like the first one, this book is a really dark romance. It's a gritty story with plenty of tormenting heartache and anguish. There's love in this story too. Plenty of spice. If you're looking for a dark second chance, enemies to lovers romance, this is it.
