From USA Today best-selling author Allie Boniface comes the latest book in the Hometown Heroes series...
Shannon O’Brien has spent a lifetime trying to heal the wounds from her past. The last thing she needs is being assigned to help urban planner Chase Reardon, who arrives in Lindsey Point to design its revitalization project.
From the moment they meet sparks fly, leading to a surprisingly deep connection. But when Chase discovers Shannon’s relation to one of Lindsey Point’s most powerful historic couples, he’ll stop at nothing to make them a focus of the revitalization – and she’ll stop at nothing to prevent him from digging into her family’s history. As the details of the past collide with the present, their love for each other becomes infinitely more complicated.
USA Today best-selling author Allie was born and raised in a very small town in upstate New York, which probably explains her fascination with the magic of small town life.
She earned her B.A. in English, with a minor in Education, from the University of Rochester in New York and then moved to Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio, where she earned her M.A. in English Literature.
Since 1997, Allie has enjoyed life in the northern NYC suburbs, where she lives with her husband and teaches high school English during the day. When she isn't teaching, she's writing about small towns (with lots of secrets and spice!). Loved this book! In fact, loved the last two also. From the moment Chance Readon walked into the stuffy, cramped Visitors Center to discuss the suggested changes for the grant Lindsey Point was graned to modernize this, so far, undiscovered town. Yes, they have their history of the haunted lighthouse, murder, and suicide, the terrible fire that completely burnt the Cove to the ground and killed two people. But, what is this big city planner from New York doing in their sleepy town? Life has not been the same for Shannon O'Brien since he walked into her life and gave her a new lease to her life. Shannon has suffered a terrible loss and the town carries her grief also. Her Grandparents died within a week of each other. Her sister perished along with six other residents of the town in a plane crash at the age of sixteen. Then her mom succumbs to the ravages of cancer. All this is not bad enough but everyone knows of her shame of having cheated on Lucas, an all-around great guy. But no matter, Lindsey Point is her home and Chance has given her the reason to live her life without the burden of who she is related to, what she has done good or bad. He allows her to just be herself. Sometimes love takes hold of you from the start, you really don't have a chance to choose. It was the same with her Grandparents, they also had a strange connection. Shannon and Chance were yet to learn love may complicate things but it will also conquer them. It completes them and makes two halves, two completed souls that have found their other half.
Don't get discouraged, it will get better. At first it is a little too much like an easy to read beach romance but it picks up. I gave it a four because the ending didn't really tie the loose ends and I don't think they will be answered in other series.
I loved this book. I liked the two story format. I enjoyed Chase and Shannon’s story and the secrets we learn. I wish again it didn’t end so abruptly. I would also have like to learn more about Shannon’s grandparents and Chase’s dad. This was my favorite of the 3 suspenseful books in the series.
This book threw me for a loop. There are so many questions unanswered and unsettled. I was hoping by the end we would have some answers, but the book left you wanting more. I enjoyed it but would’ve liked a little more clarification.
NEW RELEASE: MAY 5, 2015/ARC: LABYRINTH OF LOVE BY ALLIE BONIFACE Labyrinth of Love (Hometown Heroes Book 3) by Allie BonifaceMy rating: 3 of 5 stars Labyrinth of Love is an endearingly emotional story. When faced with secrets can a newly discovered love survive? I received Labyrinth of Love by Allie Boniface for an honest review. Am not usually a person who reads stories that have a suspenseful edge to them, however I have to acknowledge that Labyrinth of Love was written so beautifully that it was not a major factor for me.(www.goodreads.com/review/list/2555691...)
Labyrinth of Love is book five in the Hometown Heroes series by Allie Boniface. It takes place in Lindsey Point. Chase Reardon accepts an urban development job in Lindsey Point. Usually he doesn’t accept jobs as small as this one. However, he takes the job to find out more about the elusive Vivian Silverstone who was a poet who lived here with her husband, William. He works closely with Shannon O’Brien who happens to be a relative of Vivian’s. He isn’t prepared for the work involved in finding anything more about Vivian, even from Shannon.
Shannon O'Brien runs a sleepy Connecticut seaside village's tourism center. Chase Readon arrives to direct the town's revitalization project. Attraction is immediate. But both of them carry secrets that will tear them apart. Intertwined in the story are flashbacks to the college love affair between her grandparents whose relationship impinges on Chase and Shannon's future happiness. Allie Boniface has taken a very difficult topic and given the reader something to think about.
