Finding Haven

Rate this book
It’s been a few years since the zombie outbreak occurred. Briggs is wandering the country alone when he stumbles into a camp. He discovers a werewolf who’s forced to fight off zombies for the camp’s entertainment. Briggs knows one thing for he will save Wade.

Wade doesn’t think he’ll ever trust again, but there’s something about Briggs that slowly tears down the walls he’s built up. The two of them form an unlikely alliance, learning to work together, guard each other’s backs, and maybe even experiencing fun again. It almost feels inevitable that love would happen.

When sickness hits, it’s Wade’s turn to save Briggs. It’s a race against the clock, traveling through snow-filled land to find medicine. Will Wade be able to find a safe haven before it’s too late?

Finding Haven is book two in the Haven series. Inside this supernatural world you’ll find a zombie apocalypse, a werewolf who’s immune to zombie bites, a human trying to make up for past mistakes, two people trying to trust again, hurt/comfort, finding ways to live rather than just survive, and of course, a happily ever after!

I very much enjoyed reading this book. The story is gripping from the very beginning, and it is filled with plenty of action and spice. It is a world full of zombies and danger. Briggs bravely rescues Wade, a werewolf, from a horrible and inhumane situation. I like that they learn to trust each other and in so doing, they find that they have a companion to help them through unbelievably difficult times. When Briggs becomes ill, Wade realizes he will do anything to try and save him. The two of them have gone from merely surviving to actually being able to consider having a future, maybe even together.
I was happy to check in on Devin and Lawrence from the first book again and see how they are doing in Haven. They have carved out a wonderful existence in a very bleak world, and now they have new friends to share that life with. I loved the writing and the world building. Although it paints a grim future, the book depicts some beauty and joy at the same time.

When you think of Toby Wise, you might think of fluffy, cute, sugary sweet romance books, not zombie books. And that's exactly why you need to read this book!
Even though this book is on the shorter side, the world building still has details that help provide you with the insights into what the world around the characters is like. And the characters themselves are really great as well.

I loved how even when the world as they knew it ended, and even after all the pain and loss they both went through, they still tried to focus on the positive and helped others' as well. I just thought that was neat to read about and showed how great these two men are. I also really enjoyed getting to see Lawrence and Devin from Making Haven again, that was really cool!
All in all, a really great book! I don't think I've ever described a zombie book as cute before, until now!

Finding Haven is the second book in the Haven series. In my opinion this series is best read in order. This is the story of Briggs a human and Wade a werewolf. These two are just perfect for each other. They each have what the other needs. I loved watching these two work through their issues and build a relationship. It was great seeing Lawrence and Devin again. I loved the found family aspects of the story. I loved the characters and world building that went into this book. I can't wait for the next book in the series. I would definitely recommend this book and series as 5 star reads.

PNR, zombie apocalypse, human/werewolf, slow burn, hurt/comfort

Briggs is a human surviving the zombie apocalypse and he stumbles on Wade, a werewolf immune to zombie bites being used as entertainment.
He rescues him and they escape together.
Briggs is seeking redemption for past mistakes and Wade definitely doesn't trust him.
As they travel and slowly get to know one another, they find themselves becoming closer.
When Briggs gets sick, Wade has to step up to return the favor and save the man he's falling in love with.
It's a race against time that had me frantically turning the pages in anticipation as,they get to their hard fought HEA.

This is another low angst zombie apocalypse story. It could be read by itself, but I think it does make a bit of sense to read this series in order. Wade and Briggs both have their baggage but I liked how they started to trust each other on their journey to finding a safe place. It's a fairly easy read with a little bit of spice and some interesting characters. I really enjoyed reading this one and I loved where these two ended up. I feel like we're not quite done with Haven and I'm curious to see what else Toby has in store for us.

This second book in the Haven series delivers another engaging mix of post-apocalyptic survival, paranormal romance, and emotional healing. Briggs has spent years surviving on his own until he discovers Wade, a werewolf being cruelly exploited and forced to fight zombies for other people's entertainment. Watching Briggs risk everything to rescue him set the stage for a romance built on trust, compassion, and second chances.

I enjoyed seeing Wade slowly lower the walls he'd built after everything he'd endured. As they travel together, learning to rely on one another and finding moments of happiness amid the devastation, their relationship develops naturally. The balance of action, hurt/comfort, and quiet emotional moments made it easy to become invested in both of them.

The race to find safety when Briggs falls ill adds plenty of tension, and reaching Haven feels like a well-earned reward after everything they've survived. Fans of zombie apocalypse stories with paranormal elements, found family, and hopeful romances will find plenty to enjoy here, and I'm already looking forward to seeing which couple takes centre stage next.

This zombie apocalypse is real mannnnnnn and its so lonely...very sad how the world turned out. Especially for Briggs...but he meets...well saves Wade and he sees somebody he can be with...grow into something real. Wade takes a bit to trust but once he's on board...he's all in. More tragedy makes them bond more but then we get a sweet romance. I love how they made it to Haven and found our wonderful couple from book 1. I can't wait to see Haven grow.

Great story

I absolutely loved this story. This is the second book in this series and probably could be read as a stand-alone but it was better after book one. These two had to fight so hard for their HEA but I loved how they did it together. I can’t wait for more from this world.

Book 2 of Tobys darker series follows Briggs and Wade. Wade is a were shifter who is immune to the zombie curse and has been held captive to fight ever since his secret wad found out. When Briggs sees whats happening to him, he knows he must interfere and rescue the were. What starts with a hesitant relationship becomes two people finding companionship in a time hope has been lost for most. Their dynamics just worked where you could feel both people needed the other equally to not only survive but have a chance for something more. They seek solace in Haven and meet up with Lawrence and Devin to begin a tentative found family amongst the horror that currently is their new normal. Loved this story as much as its predecessor and cannot wait to see more from this world.

This is book 2 in the Haven series and features Wade and Briggs. Briggs has been along for a while and one morning stumbles across a camp. There he sees a werewolf tied up with a collar and chain being used for entertainment while fighting zombies. Poor Wade was captured, but after. Few days, Briggs helped free him. This starts their story taking place over several months as they get themselves to safety and into Canada. With Briggs getting sick, Wade eventually made their way to Haven and were able to stay. I cannot wait to see who the next couple with be in this zombie world.
