Seven months. That’s all is was supposed to be. It was never meant to feel like this.
Between every game, every flight, every win and loss, there are moments nobody sees.
Cassie Bennett does.
As a sports photographer newly arrived in Denver, she’s made a career out of capturing the quiet intimacy hidden beneath professional baseball. The exhausted smiles. The grief behind good games. The humanity between bases.
Theo Maddox has spent years making sure nobody looks too closely at him.
The Denver Outlaws’ star first baseman keeps his world small, controlled, and carefully guarded…until Cassie crashes into it with sharp wit, endless warmth, and a habit of seeing things he’d rather keep hidden.
Over one unforgettable season, friendship blurs into something far more dangerous as they navigate healing, family, and the terrifying vulnerability of being truly known.
Because sometimes the greatest love stories aren’t found beneath stadium lights—
6 ⭐️ This book… Found Family- got it Love that spans across oceans- got it Sports- got it Emotional heartbreak- got it Phone throwing- yes in abundance
I haven’t read a sports book that’s captured me like this since Windy City. The way it hooks you in, holds your hand and takes you on an adventure. The imagery was just absolutely stunning, the sports was explained in a way even a novice would understand. The way you’re made to feel as part of the group. Side characters that leave lasting impressions! Harry “The Jet” Jetson will always be my favourite! Everything about this was perfection, I sobbed into my coffee, I practically threw my phone (onto soft surfaces of course) I read the final chapters clinging onto the kitchen bench for emotional support, only to sob like a child and immediately scream at the author for playing with my feelings like that. She laughed… of course.
If you have not added this to your TBR you are seriously missing out!
