The story I most related to in Life by the Stars is when Amanda Walsh is joining a moon cycle labyrinth walk for the first time, and while she's trying to embody peace, her mind snaps into judgment mode. How easy it is to mistake cynicism for wisdom. What I admire about Amanda is how wholly she commits to sincerity. Catching herself in a petty mental moment, she pulls herself back to presence. She doesn't let the cynicism stay with her.

I'm 42 years old, and I can't remember the last time I saw a stranger and thought, I want to be friends with her. But it's true—Amanda shines with such light, over zoom or on the page. As an Astrology Hub Inner Circle member, I’m lucky to be in community with her already.

I’m deeply considering my own life-changing experiences as I contemplate the story in this book. I know I have already been transformed by lava and made new by grief after losing my mom to cancer. Although I never would have chosen that experience, I can’t deny the deep, sacred beauty and connection it has crystallized. A part of me is still afraid of what necessary pain other transformations will require (I’m human, after all), but I’ll never be as afraid as I was before I knew deep loss.

Isn’t it remarkable for a book to bring up such personal reflection? As I believe Amanda intended, reading her story invited me into the wonder of my own.

But--in case you are wondering about the book itself--Amanda's story is remarkable, and she tells it in such a warm, rooted, open-hearted way. I originally ordered myself a single paperback copy (you know, like you typically do with books), but after reading it, I went back to her website and ordered a package including an immersive book club that meets over Zoom, a companion journal, and a meeting with the astrologer who provides the starry context over the twists and turns of Amanda's tale of transformation.

My grief journey temporarily stole my purpose, my sense of identity, and my strongest tie to this world. But I have experienced firsthand that we can see beautiful new sprouts after the ash clears. I remember telling my best friend the first times I felt the stirrings of desire again: desire for ANYTHING, to go on a trip, to learn something, to meet someone new. Discovering a midlife passion for astrology is a gift.

We can't design how our stories play out, but we can gather our humanity, our divinity, our hope, faith, and tenacity to bring our most full-hearted selves to live them. In Life by the Stars, Amanda Walsh offers us a timeless example of love, loss, and starting over. I'm so grateful to have traveled a bit of this road with her.

WOW. Incredibly enlightening! Ever wondered why things happen to you? What lessened are to be learned if you're open to them. A must read for everyone that knows their natal chart or who wants to and why it matters so much. Sleep is optional
