“Stages” is an honest look at small town living, loving and parenting. Stacy Stevens is the daughter you always wanted, finding her way through life’s trials. She's also the single parent who wants to pass on to her only child the real purpose of the life he’s been given. It will grab your heart, ignite your anger, cause you to smile and of course, strive for truth and honesty. If you have a heart, yours will be touched ... All that and a mystery too!
I'm pretty much a simple girl with a huge heart. I grew up in a small town and have remained in the same area since I was 6 years old. I am truly blessed to be with the man of my dreams (although it took 25 years to reunite, but that's another story!)
My family is the biggest and most precious part of my life. We are a small bunch, but what we lack in numbers we have in love :)
I love to write, but working fulltime in the medical field has not always allowed me the time I would like to follow my dream. But, I am the total optimist and big things are yet to come!
I would not say that I am a "people person" but I grew up with morals, ethics and standards that taught me to treat everyone the same: how I waould like to be treated. I thank God for evey day that He gives me and every part of it.
I'll be honest - I did not finish this book. I started it and couldn't get in the groove of it. I've read two other books since I started this one and after each I came back and gave it another chance, but it just isn't working for me. I'm sure there is a good story between the pages somewhere, but I don't have the time to go searching for it.
I don't like to write negative reviews but since I was given this book in exchange for an honest opinion, I'll do just that. The writing content and style seemed a bit immature or inexperienced to me, like a person's attempt to write a story without having read much descriptive writing that is needed to lend vision and characterization to a place or person.
Don't let my lack of enthusiasm keep you from reading this story, however. Everyone is free to come to their own conclusion, but unfortunately, I couldn't get past Stage One in this book.
Stacy is a first responder. As a female she deals with the chief that isn't crazy for her as she is a female. She has a son that is in college. Part of the book is writing a "lesson" to him about life. The other part is about an accident she is called out on where an ex's daughter was killed and she is called to testify. The story looks back on the events and is the accident as it seems? Did the daughter actually cause the accident and kill two other people or is there more to the story. It gets even trickier as her ex is a judge in town. This book kept me interested and had some mystery to it. I would put it on your to read list if it isn't already there.
This is a wonderful book. Not only is it entertaining it is a mystery and a love story and so much more. I highly recommend this book to everyone. I wish I could write a book filled with wisdom for my son in the way she did. Smiles and tears through the stages of life. I won a copy on Goodreads. All thoughts are my own.
*I won this book from a GoodReads giveaway* This was a decent book. It had a little bit of everything. Love, hate, sadness, happiness, funny parts, not-so-funny parts. Maybe a little too much religion and God stuff for my taste, but it certainly didn’t cause me to stop reading. It was a solid read.
I enjoyed the twists and turns in this book. It needed to have the tenses changed as many passages should have been past participle rather than simple past. That is irritating to a reader. Also it needs a good proofreading. But the plot was interesting.
I received this book from a Goodreads giveaway. It was very interesting with unique characters and a bit of a mystery at the core. I found it to be relatable and well written!
I received this book for free from the author/publisher in response for an honest review of the book. I have not had the opportunity to read this book at this time. I will add my review of this book once I have read the book. Thank k you for allowing me the optometrist review your work. I look forward to reading this book.
