Audiobook update:
I read the book about 5 weeks ago and it was so much fun to revisit the story listening to the audiobook. I love how the narrators, Talon David and Patrick Boylan, brought Rosie and Dean to life! It made Rosie's inner dialogue when she spirals even better. For me, listening to an audiobook is even better than reading it, even for books I've read.
Original review:
Becky Monson is one of my favorite sweet rom-com authors, and this was exactly the adorable, fun read I was hoping for!
Welcome to Autumn Ridge and the princess-themed Once Upon an Inn, owned by Rosie Harper, who has a serious problem saying “no” to anyone. With the grand opening only a month away, you’d think she’d have enough on her plate. Unfortunately, only one of the five guest rooms—the (very pink) Sleeping Beauty room—is finished. No worries, right? That room is rented for an entire month by Dean Alden, the no-nonsense business consultant who's in town to decide what to do with his late grandparents’ farmhouse and their burned apple orchard. Little did Rosie know that Dean would become her very own “Prince,” helping her turn her dream into reality.
This was such a fun and charming read! I loved the dual POV and especially the way each chapter begins like a little fairy tale. It was such a cute touch and fit the story perfectly. Did I fall in love with Dean as he cooked for Rosie and helped her with the inn? Of course I did! I also loved all the descriptions of the princess-themed rooms. They sound absolutely amazing, and honestly, I wish there were pictures somewhere because I would love to see them!
Rosie did drive me a little crazy with her inability to say “no,” no matter how much it inconvenienced her. I mean, agreeing to be in charge of the fall festival while trying to renovate four bedrooms and bathrooms in one month?! Oh, heck no! 😂 But I loved her positive outlook and determination to make everything work. Thankfully, with Dean’s help, she learns that it’s okay to put herself first sometimes. And that ending? I loved it so much! 💕 It was the perfect way to wrap up this sweet, feel-good romance.
If you enjoy grumpy/sunshine, opposites attract, small-town romance, and a little fairy-tale magic, definitely add Once Upon a Fall to your TBR! This book is part of the multi-author Falling for Autumn interconnected series. Each book is a standalone, but the stories connect with one another—and once you read one, you’ll probably want to read them all!
