In America's near future resides a government that believes in survival of the fittest and that rejuvenation of the environment is an urgent necessity. This means no more medicine, the hunting of 'inadequate specimens,' walls built around carefully mapped regions in order to protect the environment and death to thousands. This means the Purgation. Follow Avalon, Ash, Novella, Ryker, Natalie, Derek, and more original characters, through their journey in surviving their government's genetic discrimination.

Good book that's exceptionally rich in detail and characterization. The plot has enough twists and turns to keep you turning pages and just enough predictability to keep you comfortable. Geared toward a teen/young adult reader, but rich enough to appeal to anyone. Overall, a nice read.

Great read for teens and young adults. Good character development, descriptive scenes, and realistic action. I especially liked the back stories of the characters and the different perspectives they bring. This is a very impressive first novel for a 15 year old author! I hope to see more writing from this author in the future.
