Is it possible to heal from pain with love? Matthew has made it his mission to bring the woman he loves to emotional health, any way he can and it’s working. Jessica now looks forward to each day, made special by learning to trust again, to love again and to take each day as it comes. There are still bad days of gloom and her past still creeps up to haunt her, even the villains from her past, but Jessica is coping, a huge step for her. Will demons from Matthew’s past tumble her delicate house of cards or will she continue to push the past back where it belongs, even his?

Get ready for sigh-worthy romance, two people, coming through the worst of the storm and surviving, thriving and growing closer every single day. Seeking Redemption by J. M. Maurer will make a romantic out of even the most cynical among us. Each scene, including Jessica’s bad day and her fight to overcome them are so well-written and feel so real, you’ll be hard-pressed to put this tale of romance down and return to reality.

Once again, J. M. Maurer brings her characters to life and covers each page with a testimony to the power of true love, but is the world finished with Matthew and Jessica? Can their love survive another vicious mind out to hurt them? Will their love be tested and survive even stronger? More brightness, more happiness and more love, written as only J. M. Maurer can do!

I received this copy from J. M. Maurer in exchange for my honest review.

Note to Readers: Seeking Redemption is the second book in the Emerging From Darkness trilogy, and as such, is not intended to be a standalone. Although some recapping has been included as a reminder of events that transpired earlier, the reader's enjoyment of the story will be enhanced by reading Seeking Love first.

Review:
This book picks right up where book 1 left off. Jessica still trying to overcome the depression and move on with her life with Matthew. While ex-husband Jake is causing problems, making Jessica question Matthews loyalty to their relationship.
There’s quite a few more twists and unexpected turns that will have you wondering if Matthew and Jessica can overcome the issues put in front of them and have their relationship survive.
I truly love this series. Make sure you have book 3 ready to move on to. It’s just that good so far...

Wow, I just loved this book and cannot wait for book 3 in the fall.

This book like the first in the series 'Seeking Love' had me engrossed to the point I resented putting the book down. This book is full of romance and no-one will be disappointed.

I adore Matthew he is just every woman's dream, (sex on legs comes to mind) Him and Jess are just perfect for one another :)

In this second installment of the series, the relationship between Jessica and Matthew goes much deeper (YAY!) Jake, the conniving ex shows his head and damn near ruins things for Jess and Matthew. I was beginning to think Matthew was too perfect and then something happened where a few skeletons from his closet stepped out. Jessica, tenacious and strong willed as she is - wades through the temporary setback and the couple gets back on track.

There is a whole lotta love in this book. There's an accident, someone who fled the scene, an evil wife, an endearing father and a VERY ugly cry moment (Yes, that's what I said, so be prepared with a tissue or two) I LOVED the 'math game'...this particular chapter had me giggling and wondering how the heck the author came up with this. Very original idea and a fun spin on a party.

This series is a love story, but has so many more layers to it. It's about learning to love yourself before you can love someone else. Learning how to let go, how to move on, how to forgive, how to say I'm sorry and how to trust your gut. The title of this book is spot on. I'm now on to book three, Seeking Hope.

This book was given to me for an honest review.

Secrets...Revelations... What more can you want to start a second book in a superb series. Jessica screwed up, now she needs to find her way back to Matthew. I don't know how to put this, but I really hate Jessica at some points. Not because she is an awful person, just because you want her to see what is right in front of her, to make that right decision without second guessing her or Matthew. Matthew has tried everything and how could she do that? Love is unconditional, that is what we are told, so I don't understand how people can do what the do to the people they are to love. Now no one is perfect not in a long shot, but I do need to say, this book gives you so much more than a reading experience. It shows that when you are broken, some things aren't fixed overnight. You need to work through everything to be able to see the light at the end of the path. I know this was under erotica, but honestly it is more than that. It's more of a life story that you need to find redemption, forgiveness, and be able to pull yourself away from the darkness. But some times things are not what they appear and this book gives you perception of that. I know when you get hurt it is hard to let a person in and in this book you see how it tortures them at points you want to yank them out of the book and tell them to see the big picture. You have an ex that won't stop trying to ruin a life that needs to be built. You see a couple trying to navigate through everything that has been thrown in their life. You have to have a way to find a common ground, and that is what they are trying to do. A love story is not to be easy, it is to be something you can tell your family over and over that yes when there were problems you can navigate through them and find each other at the end. That is what this story does through every chapter of the book. The author once again brings you characters that jump off the page that could be your best friend. You are entranced with this book and you will want more and more as you keep on reading.

I can only hope the next book is set up as good as these two books, because I can't wait to see what happens. The writing is one of the best writing that I have seen and can't wait to see what goes through the authors head in the last book.

This is the second book in this series and they must be read in order; this book is not a standalone. This book picks up where the last one left off. Only in this book Matthew’s past comes book to put a possible strain on his and Jessica’s relationship. Jake is still trying to get a second chance with Jessica as well. Jessica is trying to move on and process her past so she can have a better life and a normal relationship with Matthew. Matthew is more determined than ever to help Jessica and to have her forever. This book was just as emotional as the first. Jake was just as big as a douchbag in this book if not worse than in the first book. In this book Matthew is forced to face some of the things he did in his past. He never worried about them until he meet Jessica. Now he must hope that she understands that those things are in his past and she is his future. Will Jessica be okay with the things Matthew did in his past or will she see him different because of those things? Jake is determined to use those things from Matthew’s past to get Jessica to leave Matthew and choose him. We also meet the other members of Matthew’s practice in this book. The other members of his practice are fantastic characters. So much happens in this book and it just makes me love Matthew more. I love how Jessica is moving forward and learning to let things go that she can’t control. She is coming out of her depression and living again. I love Holly and Jessica’s friendship. I can’t get enough of the characters in this series and I can’t wait to read the next book in this series.
I was given this book in return for an honest review.

I received an ARC for an honest review. I'd actually give this novel 4.5 stars.

After reading Seeking Love, I tore into Seeking Redemption. Jessica and Matthew's love story is so beautiful -- emotional, riveting, and at times, gut-wrenching. Jessica fought with her depression in book 1, fell in love with Matthew, and in book 2, we're seeing her overcome the pull of that dark place of the past as the story unfolds and secrets are revealed. With the strength of Matthew's support, love and persistence, they do succeed -- no spoiler here, it's a romance, so you can expect an HEA ;) -- if not, I would've been a very unhappy camper while I waited for book 3!

The writing is beautiful, as is their story. If you want a sigh-inducing, lose yourself in the romance, distraction from the everyday, you'll love this book. I only gave it a 4.5 stars because I tend to love stories with more tension, but I wouldn't say it suffered for the lack of it. If you like Kristen Ashley's Wild Man, you'll love this book. It has the same feel...the H/h are together, and now you see how they're making it work, struggling with the obstacles, learning to depend on each other, fighting for their HEA.

Can't wait to read book 3!

This is book two in the Emerging From Darkness Series and book one needs to be read first.

Jessica Winters has just had her life crumble in front of her when her boyfriend, Matthew Moi, walks out on her after hearing she spent a night with her ex-husband Jake Fisher. As Jessica realizes how much Matthew means to her she works at repairing their relationship and the two begin to take on a much more open and honest relationship with the ghosts of both of their pasts trying to come forward.

But the two have a lot of bridges to cross and will their pasts allow them to move forwards to a future together or are their too many obstacles in their way?

This was another extremely well written book that kept me involved from start to finish. Their were so many secrets that came out that it was either going to make them or break them. Both Matthew and Jessica had to make sure they had complete trust in the other in order to make it work!

I thought Holly was such an awesome friend and so good for Jessica!

I liked the introduction of Brooke as you grew to realize that Bryan Burdick wasn't who you thought he was!

Such a great read and I can't wait to see what happens next!!

A unique plot, that beautifully tracks the courtship of Jess by Matthew, with her ex-husband constantly returning, trying to break them apart. Matthew is not without his secrets, which he eventually shares. She wants to believe him, but after her ex-husband’s betrayals, when matters looks bad, she loses her faith in Matthew.

Be warned, the sex is hot and explicit. Normally, I might object, but here it worked.

Totally captivated through the entire book.
