Nothing says complicated romance quite like discovering your one-night stand is also your new boss.

The first half was honestly so good, with plenty of chemistry and Oliver being completely gone for Kitty. Their connection felt easy, and I was having such a good time watching him fall harder while she tried very hard not to catch feelings.

The second half was more of a mixed bag for me. Kitty is smart and independent, but her constant avoidance of talking about her feelings started to frustrate me, especially because so much of her fear only became clear later. Oliver was easily my favorite, although I did wish he had pushed for better communication instead of letting important conversations get avoided. The pacing also slowed down, and some of the drama felt a little unnecessary when I just wanted them to actually talk.

Still, there was enough here that I enjoyed, especially Oliver, their chemistry, and the glimpses of the supporting characters. I just wish the second half had kept the same energy as the beginning.

Despite a few slower moments, I enjoyed the romance enough that I’m glad I spent the time with it.

A sincere thank you to Charlotte Krasniqi for the ARC! 🥰📚

I’m so grateful for the early read. As always, all thoughts and opinions are completely my own. ✨

I have very mixed feelings about this book because it started off so promising, and I genuinely thought I was going to love it. Unfortunately, somewhere around the middle, the story started losing me.

⚠️ WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD!

Overall, this one just didn’t work for me as much as I hoped it would. The beginning had me really interested, and there were definitely things I enjoyed, especially Oliver, but the slow pacing, unexplained situations, and my frustration with the FMC made the second half difficult for me to get through.

Still, I’m glad I finished it and gave the story a chance. Not every book is going to work for every reader, and unfortunately, this one just wasn’t quite for me.

Received as an ARC. Giving this a 3.5 ⭐ because the first half was really good. I do think the second half needs some work. Kitty is this intelligent, independent woman who seems incapable of expressing her feelings. She was a bit of a walking red flag in the second half, bringing the drama to everyone's doorstep. I get really frustrated with poor communication and this FMC was the epitome of that. Although I loved Oliver, he also needed to improve his communication. He was aware of her using sex to distract from important conversations and would just let it happen, over and over again. I just needed her to share a bit more of her background with him because I don't doubt that he would be understanding regardless of what she shared. I also think she would've felt more comfortable if he didn't insist on moving so damn quickly and they were able to get to know each other better first. Would be interested in going back and reading book 1 because I enjoyed the bits of Elizabeth and Theo that we got here.

Tropes
🩷Workplace romance
🩷One night stand
🩷He is her boss
🩷Relationship contract
🩷he falls first

First and foremost i would like to thank Author Charlotte Krasniqi for giving me the ARC Copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. Im truly grateful

Workplace romance always hits different. The chemistry, the tension and the buzzing energy is something I always love about the trope... The Fire Within Us delivered just that.

This is my first time reading her book and can't say I didn't enjoy it... I thoroughly enjoyed reading the book because who doesn't love an MMC boss being down bad from day one? I love a good down-bad man and Oliver was definitely down bad...

This story involves Oliver and Kitty. Oliver is the CEO of his law firm and Kitty newly joins his firm as a lawyer. Now, their first meeting wasn't the last because somehow the universe had to make sure to bring Kitty to Oliver's company...

Now gotta say, my man here was hooked and desperately down bad just from the first meet and did everything in his power to have her date him. He couldn't physically pull himself away from her no matter how much he tried. It was as though he was a metal and she was the magnet. My man right here was over the moon to have a baddie in his life.

Cuz Kitty is THAT GIRL...

Talking about Kitty... KITTY FLEMING, THE WOMAN YOU ARE!!! I mean this diva right here!!? Yes. Just yes.

A baddie queen with a soft heart. Her character was something I loved. Though she looks like nothing, everything is fine, but deep inside she just wants to be seen for who she is. She is brave, smart and strong, which I immediately picked up on when I read the book.

But my girl here was so damn oblivious to Oliver being down bad for her like... sis, ma'am, honey, you are amazing and totally awesome but I'm sorry, u gotta use ur glasses sweety because Oliver was this close to woof for her 😭

I love how over the time there were genuinely good amount of changes in them, like both of them were bringing out the best versions of themselves and also conveys it only takes one good person to change the perspective of love and show the true meaning of it.

With that being said, I really expected this to be a bit slow burn and tension filled romance, with forbidden energy into it to make it more intense. But the interaction and the connection felt way too quick between them. Like, there was no anticipation for me when I read it and the plot was something I saw coming.

I loved the characters and their chemistry so much but I just wish it was not too quick. I couldn't feel their chemistry fully, like it was half done.

Overall, it was such a fun read for me. Would definitely recommend.

The Firecracker and her Obsessed Man

This is the second offering in The Elements series of books by a talented author and it is filled with yearning, misguided secrets, emotional damage and an all consuming and fiery love. There are themes of parental neglect, workplace romance, found family, he falls first, misplaced secret, emotional trauma and angst, but it culminates in a hard-won HEA for the main couple.

Kitty is a respected lawyer who is undervalued at her small town firm, so she takes the leap to a new company in London and it is everything she has always wanted for herself. Due to her tragic past family issues she doesn’t believe in love and losing her power and control in a relationship terrifies her. She heads into a casual, contract partnership with her boss and immediately feels her walls come down around her. What will it take to make her see that she doesn’t need to disappear in herself when she is offered love?

Oliver is one of two principals in his company and is a strong and confident lawyer who is fair to those around him and also well respected. But he is lonely and yearns for a love much like his parents embody. He agrees to the contract relationship with Kitty and quickly realises he idolises and adores her, but making her partake in his love for her is a battle that shakes up his world. When he mistakenly doesn’t inform Kitty of a past relationship and triggers her feelings of disloyalty, how will he make her understand his despair and absolute devotion to her?

This was a slow burn romance that constantly simmered and kept me continuously and avidly reading as the full story unfolded. I admit I was frustrated by Kitty, by her immaturity, her avoidance of having any conversation to understand the problems that occurred and her doubts on love that were largely vague and not spelled out till late in the tale. Oliver won me over with his swoonworthy and loving obsession of Kitty and the way he cared for her and did whatever he could to ease her way through life.
I feel he was hard done by with Kitty burying her head in the sand and not conversing with him to help sort out the problems they had. In the end they came together without Kitty apparently divulging any of her reasons for keeping them apart. She was upset at Oliver for failing to disclose a past partner and being dishonest, yet she failed to let Oliver know of her own trauma that she experienced with her father?

This was a well-written, sweet yet fiery story and I look forward to more couples’ stories evolving and more books in the series. I have thoroughly enjoyed the hours of respite this reading has gifted me and thank the author for giving me the opportunity to enjoy the arc and provide my voluntary review.

This book was even better than the first, and only slightly less emotional! This book brought Elizabeth, Theo, James, Sophie, Fiona & Kitty back together and there is no shortage of emotions running high as we learn more about Kitty. And we meet Oliver.

Kitty and Oliver felt the attraction when they meet in an elevator at the law office Kitty interviews at. They hit it off the moment they randomly meet when Kitty & the girls are out to celebrate her new job. After a hot night together, they go their separate ways with only Oliver offering up his name and number on a note the next morning. Monday morning when they meet again at the elevators, neither knowing who exactly each other is….

The spice in this book is gooooood. The chemistry is so intense, their tension felt in rooms by everyone around them as they try to first, fight their attraction, then hide their attraction. And Kitty is keeping so much more hidden, afraid of getting hurt or letting anyone in.
Oliver is determined to break down Kittys walls, brick by brick if he has to.

As with the first book, the emotion is real and raw. You understand the hesitation and as you get further in the story, you understand Kitty’s hesitation at love and getting close. And towards the end, there may have been tears when I knew she was making a mistake. The characters feel like friends and I can’t wait to see who the 3rd book is about. I’m really hoping Fiona, because I still think there is something going on there and I do badly want to know what!

I received this book as an ARC & am writing this review voluntarily

Oliver, Oliver, Oliver… what a perfect MMC. 🫠 I absolutely adored this man.

The Fire Between Us is such a good story about learning to let people in, accepting that you don’t have to do everything on your own, and figuring out what love can look like when you finally allow yourself to have it.

Kitty is a strong, independent lawyer who knows exactly what she wants when it comes to her career. Her personal life, though? Her communication skills could definitely use a little work. 😂 I’ll admit, I struggled with her at times because I just wanted her to TALK to Oliver. But once I learned more about her backstory and understood where that need for independence and control came from, I understood her so much better.

Oliver is completely obsessed with Kitty, and I was here for every second of it. Once he realizes who she is, he is ALL IN. He’s sweet, patient, supportive, and willing to give her the time and space she needs, even when Kitty is doing everything she can to keep those walls firmly in place. I loved how certain he was about her without ever making her feel like she had to give up the career or independence she worked so hard for.

There’s plenty of chemistry and tension between these two, but I also really enjoyed the heart of the story. The friendships, the emotional moments, and especially watching Kitty slowly learn that loving someone and leaning on them doesn’t mean losing herself.

Oliver definitely made this one for me. An obsessed, patient MMC who knows what he wants and is willing to wait for her to realize it too? Yep. Give me that every time. ❤️

✨Arc Review✨

Thank you for the opportunity to read this lovely book!! 😊😊

Fire Within Us by Charlotte Krasniqi

POV : you’re on a night out with the girls , celebrating and you meet a hot guy.
You spend the night with said hot guy , thinking you’re likely to never see him again .

Wait ! On your first day at your new job , you find out he’s your new boss .🚨🚨

💕Somebody say workplace romance 💕

Oliver Vincent is the embodiment of “ WHEN A MAAAAN LOVES A WOOOMAN “
that man was down bad for his girl. However he did have moments where I was like “ sir .. no “

3:30pm started to be more than a routine and meant so much more…. It was a man on his knees !

Kitty Fleming the independent woman , hard working lawyer , with the most supportive girlie friendship group . Don’t come for me .. but .. at times it felt like she took advantage of the fact they could drop everything & be there .

Kitty struggles to truly be vulnerable and let love in because all she has ever known and been witness to is the wrong kind of love.
Do not lie to her because trust is very important to her .

I wish they talked more , specially Kitty … she definitely needed to work through some things… maybe a lil therapy would have gone a long way.

All she wanted was to be loved and be in safe hands that she can trust .

This book was definitely like a movie .

I rated Fire Within Us 4 stars on Goodreads but felt it was more of a 3.5 / 3.75 . I had a good time and enjoyed the characters , it had a good pacing - definitely gave romance movie vibes!

Wow… what a FIRECRACKER of a book.

I’m still buzzing.

I devoured this in less than 24 hours because I physically could not put it down.

Charlotte has done it again — somehow topping the magic of her first book with something even more explosive, emotional, and addictive.

From the very start, I was completely swept up in Kitty and Oliver’s world. Their chemistry, their tension, their growth… it all felt so real, so warm, so heartbreakingly human.
By the time I reached the final pages, I genuinely had to hug the book. It was just… everything. Everything I wanted, everything I didn’t expect, everything that makes a story linger long after you close it.

But also — I wanted more. I’m so invested in Kitty & Oliver’s future, in where life takes them next, in how their fire keeps burning. And just like with the first book, I’m equally attached to Elizabeth & Theo. Charlotte writes characters you don’t just read about — you carry them with you.

This is her second book now that has completely blown me away. The emotion, the pacing, the tenderness, the spark — she has such a gift.
A rare, beautiful ability to make you feel deeply and urgently, to make you root for people as if they’re your own.

Charlotte Krasniqi is truly an incredible writer, and The Fire Within Us is a stunning, unforgettable triumph.

The Fire Within Us is the second book in Krasniqi's The Elements Series but can be appreciated as a standalone. This small town romance features Kitty Fleming and Oliver Vincent.

Kitty was a lawyer in the small town of Sable Square, but decides she wants more and applies for a position at Smith and Vincent. She is interviewed by Andy Smith and their assistance Julie, and quickly offered a position at the prestigious law firm. She later meets Oliver, a man she had seen previously without meeting. There is a strong mutual attraction.

While there is resistance for awhile, the two eventually succumb and commence a sexual relationship. Kitty, a strong, fiercely independent, brilliant woman, is determined to keep her heart out of their affairs while Oliver, a successful and powerful man, wants more. Oliver has been lonely and is ready to find a true partner.

When Oliver invites Kitty to go home to Canada with him for the Christmas holiday, she is hesitant but eventually accepts. While there, she learns something about his past which leading her to pack up and fly home.

I had mixed feelings about this book. I enjoyed the premise, as well as the strong female lead, but the drama introduced into the storyline felt forced. I didn't understand her (from my perspective) overreaction, nor did I fully comprehend the need to introduce the secondary drama with Julie. It seemed out of place.

I enjoy small town romance, and appreciated Kitty's connection with her friends Elizabeth and Fiona. I liked how they supported and encouraged her. I also loved Oliver's strong character, his appreciation for Kitty, how he recognized her skills and her work, and how he put himself out there. Overall the story was well written but the narrative left me confused. As such, I would rate this one 3.5 stars. As always, I would encourage you to read it for yourself and let me know what you thought.

I was lucky enough to receive an ARC copy of The Fire Within Us and I was so excited to get back to Sable Square and catch up with the gang from book one. Charlotte’s writing has come on leaps and bounds from her debut, I loved The Sea Between Us but The Fire Within Us is exceptional! It’s spicy, it’s flirty and it’s heartwarming, I was hooked from the beginning!

I knew I was going to love Kitty’s story, right from the moment we met her in TSBU. She’s such a firecracker of a character with her sass, intelligence and feistiness but when she opens up and gets vulnerable, she’s so soft and caring. I only ever wanted the best for Kitty and damn is that delivered in the form of Oliver Vincent!

Oliver is an absolute delight, the perfect book boyfriend to fall head over heels with and smoking hot! Oh also, he’s hilarious, rich and can handle Kitty perfectly. Their love story is a rollercoaster, told with dual POV to get all the juicy details but also, who doesn’t love a workplace romance?! The tension was tensioning, their subtle looks between each other were to die for and their inside jokes and subtle comments to each other had me kicking my feet in the air giggling!

All of these characters, across both books, are a wonderful little family but Kitty and Oliver have my heart. Especially Oliver. I cannot wait to see where book three takes us!

The start of Oliver and Kitty’s story had me hooked. One night stand turned into boss x employee? Hell yes!!

When it got slow for me was when Kitty kept acting like a child. No matter what the situation was, her reactions seemed overdramatic and ridiculous. When she found out Oliver had an ex-fiancé she wouldn’t even talk to him and booked a flight back to London from Vancouver? And everyone thought it was warranted? No. Adults talk about their feelings. And to top it off, there was all this hinting about her past trauma with her parents but she never told Oliver about that and how it made her hesitant to be in a relationship. So she can keep secrets, but he can’t.

I liked the boss x employee aspect, but it fell flat for me when it was repeatedly just their day to day activities as lawyers. I also got confused with pacing sometimes when one of them would be mid day at work and the next sentence it is evening and they are at home in bed.

All in all, the story had potential and the characters had chemistry. I just got a bit bored with the 3rd act breakup because any sane adult would not act how Kitty did. And I was secretly hoping Oliver wouldn’t take her back😬

Thank you to Charlotte for the ARC!

This is book 2 in the Elements series and I was so glad when I got an ARC copy!!

After reading Charlotte's debut novel The Sea Between Us, the first book to ever make me cry. I couldn't wait to read this one and get Kitty's story who we meet in the first book.

This book was everything and more!! I adored every second of it and Oliver has my heart. Honestly Oliver is the right person for Kitty, you'll understand if you've read the first.

It was an emotional rollercoaster and I felt every bit of pain the Kitty and Oliver felt. I loved reading about all the characters from book 1 and I adored Eden, she's such a cutie.
This is only the second book in the series and I love them both equally so don't ask me to choose a favourite!

Charlotte I don't know how you do it. Your writing is beautiful and you just know how to write beautiful stories that make you feel everything you're meant to while reading them ❤️

And now the wait starts for book 3 and honestly I can't wait!!

If you haven't read The Sea Between Us I highly recommend you do and then read this beauty as soon as it's released!

I received an advance reader copy (ARC) of The Fire Within Us by Charlotte Krasniqi in exchange for an honest review.

I was hooked on this book from the outset! I absolutely loved going back and visiting Sable Square and picking up right where we left off with Elizabeth and Theo. It was so great to be reunited with characters from The Sea Between Us.

The story reacquaints us with Kitty, who is messy, fierce, and a real 'firecracker' from a small town. We also have Oliver, a billionaire London law firm owner, originally from Canada, who is soon to be Kitty's new boss. Before either of them realises who the other is, they share an unexpected one-night stand. When they are finally reunited in the office, they struggle to keep their intense chemistry under control!

The story is packed with raw emotion, and you can truly feel the power of their connection in every single chapter. Also, the spicy scenes are extremely well written, not awkward or cringy as you can sometimes get. Told from both Kitty and Oliver's viewpoints in alternating chapters, the tension builds brilliantly, and I found myself rooting for them the entire way through. Oliver is an absolute treasure and a superb MMC, whilst Kitty is funny, endearing, and relatable - I loved them both.

I could not put this book down, and it easily stands out as my favourite romance of the year so far.

This is such a great story of growing and learning to lean on others. Kitty is a strong, independent lawyer who knows what she wants and isn't afraid to go after it. Enter Oliver, he is this Canadian lawyer who has built his law firm up from the ground up with his best friend who just happened to meet Kitty prior to her employment at his firm. What ensues next involves contracts, emotional realizations, a little bit of heartbreak, and acceptance of love. Oliver is all in from the minute he realizes who Kitty is while Kitty wants to hold back and try to maintain her independence and autonomy in the workplace. I really enjoyed the heart at the story with the friendships that you get to witness throughout and the growth of Kitty and her willingness to understand and accept what love really can mean.

Seriously I’d love to know Kitty’s history, I want to know why she is afraid of love, and who hurt her in a past relationship.

This book mainly deals with the after affects of her dealing with a guy who truly wants her, but she keeps pulling away, or for the first half of the book running away.

Oliver is a sweet Canadian MMC caring loving, and doesn’t give up when she pushes. As a Canadian I don’t often see books with Canadian characters and absolutely loved the little Canadian Arron’s throughout the story.

Key points in no particular order:
- new job
- found family
- afraid of love
- he falls first and hard
- she falls but fights against it
- spicy 4/5
- demeaning father

3.5 but rounding up to 4.

I really enjoyed this book! The boss/employee dynamic was fun with tons of tension in a way that never felt like anyone was being taken advantage of.

I loved our FMCs turmoil as someone who just felt like she was torn constantly between her head and her heart.

The book read so fluidly, I didn't want to put the book down.

The FMC running away felt a bit repetitive towards the end, and the lack of communication and openness got really frustrating. But I know those crazy kids will make it work.

Overall: recommend, beware the miscommunication trope.

Spice: open door

I read the first book in order to qualify to arc read the 2nd book. I was not prepared for what happened to Nellie in book 1. Check your triggers because I obviously missed them. Anyway, so that was horrible and devastating but I’m glad book 2 didn’t have anything like that. Both books were good, short reads. I finished each one in a day. I love a stubborn & sassy FMC and Kitty definitely delivered. she had been broken and beaten down by her family her whole life and the poor thing didn’t know real Love un til it slapped her in the face. Luckily, Oliver refused to give up on her! Her 3 besties were finally able to help her see that this is what love looks like and she’s worthy.

I loved this book, after I finished and found book 1 and read that. Definitely worth it.

The boss/employee relationship was a bit different to the standard boss/assistant relationship we normally get and it worked so well. There was never the feeling of being taken advantage of or not earning the role etc.

Oliver was such a swoon worthy MMC and stood my Kitty while she went through her mental demons and kept trying to run. Made the HEA all the sweeter.

Kitty is an independant woman hell bent on proving she doesn't need a man, but with so much chemistry between Kitty and Oliver how could they not collide in the best possible ways. They navigate through all the minefields of what could go wrong to get to their HEA.

I loved this book really well written and I enjoyed all the characters, Oliver is an absolute gentleman and Kitty is a real firecracker as he lovingly calls her , there were time I wanted to shake her , but I get that her lack of trust comes from past traumas and being let down , I’m excited to read the others in the series and really enjoyed the easy fun writing style .
