I couldn't live without pain.
I'd been born into a life of torture and I walked the lonely road of torment, praying for mercy. I was scarred mentally. I was deformed physically. I was mutilated emotionally.
I was a sailor lost at sea, a soul lost in limbo, a shell of a man with no hope.
Until I found her. My fiery-haired, crystal-eyed little one who brought light to a life that knew nothing but darkness.
But she had dark shadows of her own. A past filled with anguish and brutality. A future that promised nothing but the barren life I understood too well.
We were two victims. Two loveless souls searching for something to live for. We were monsters. We were evil. We were doomed.
Our scars ran deep and our grasp on each other depended only on the search for punishment - for the next slice of pain that made us feel alive. We lived for the hurt, we lived for the anger. We lived to mark each other with intensity, belonging, and our own messed up version of recovery.
This isn't a love story. It's a story that cuts. It's a story that captivates. It's a story that questions morals and crosses the line of sanity.
It's a twisted story, one you won't see coming until it's too late...

4 Twisted Stars!

Very dark themes:
Child abuse/Non-Con/Sadomasochism/Self Harming/Violent/Bloody.

My first book by Rebecca Sherwin, I'm glad I picked this up, I've added another author to my list of, they have no limits. I'm torn on how to rate this story, it's truly heart-breaking and dark. I'm going to tell you what I did and didn't like, and let you make your mind up. I warned you up there, so be prepared before reading. This is a pitch black read that will leave you slightly sick to your stomach, or if your like me, a twisted smile on your face.

The first part of the story is the abuse that was suffered from the hands of a man who was supposed to be the protector. It broke my twisted heart, takes a lot for me to feel, and boy did I. I wanted to reach inside the pages and murder, cuddle, hold... A mixed bag of emotions bled from the pages, and I soaked it up. I was on the edge of my seat praying for solace. I fell in love with this author's way with words, her story-telling. The subject matter was as dark as one could go, but I couldn't stop reading. We witness the beginning, the middle, and 'sort of' the end, it's tragic, twisted, heart-breaking, soul-sucking, and everything in between.

What bothered me.
I might regret saying this, but I almost wish the author broke this story into two books. I had to continue, I couldn't stop if I tried, this story was incredibly long. I can't believe I said that. But maybe two books would've been best for me. I was ready for the end at 60%. By no means is it the author's fault, just my preference. I felt Benny to my core, I longed for peace, even if it was dark, even if it ended in a twisted relationship of doom. I think the author tried to drill it in, but it wasn't necessary, if you weren't rooting for Benny by the first half, then this story just wasn't for you. The inner monologue was drawn out, I found myself skimming some of it, by then I had already knew the motives, the feelings, the hurt, the battle, I felt it. I felt sad for skimming.

Dear Benny, I love you, but I can't deal with your inner monologue anymore, because I get you, babe. And I still love you. I'm like, go kill someone and make yourself feel better, Ben. I'll forgive you, so will anyone that's read your story. You really aren't a monster in the scheme of things, your fighting to survive, or surviving to fight. So, with all that being said.

I highly recommend to the readers that like to push their boundaries. If you love unconventional endings, tragic beginnings, and deeply flawed characters. You must read this one. This book isn't for the fans of mildly-dark themes. It's a twisted tale of finding yourself when your soul is at sea. If it's wrong, then I don't want to be right.

ARC received for honest review.

This is not a fluffy love story.

How low can a person go when they start at rock bottom?

Benton Wright is a victim of his upbringing. He's abused in every awful way you can imagine. As a child you want a teacher or doctor to step in to save him. As a teen you want him to stand up for himself. As a man you want him to move on from his past and find love.

At times Marked makes for uncomfortable reading but when things get tough, you continue because you want things to get better for him. Just when things start to look up, something else comes along that could knock a lesser man to his knees. Will he ever get an acceptable happy ending? I couldn't see that happening.

I've read all of Rebecca's previous books but this, I think is her best yet. It's a tough, rough ride to say the least and not for the feint hearted. There are no truly good people in this story, just varying shades grey but there are plenty of black, evil souls who are beyond redemption. Even the most pious will be baying for blood where they are concerned.

If you aren't comfortable with reading anything about child abuse or graphic sexual and violent content, then Marked may not be the book for you but trust me, your own imagination conjours up far worse imagery than Rebecca could write. However, if you want something dark, gritty, brilliantly written and dare I say, hopeful, then you'd be wise to add Marked to your tbr list.

PS - For Rebecca - yes I did enjoy it

I've read the Twisted series by this author and loved it so I was looking forward to reading this one. Nothing and nobody could prepare me for this read. I was literally gripped. When I wasn't reading it I was thinking about it.

This is a dark read. It's so dark it will push readers boundaries. These are the kind of stories I love. The author certainly didn't disappoint me.

This is Bennys raw and emotional story. We meet him as a little child. The torture and pain he must go through is unbearable. He doesn't know what normal is, his head is a total mess. Can someone reach rock bottom to find out there is worse to come? How do they survive?

When Faith comes into his life he's not sure how to react. The fiery redheads certainly a match for him but will her past hold her back??

Have I mentioned this is a dark read?? Yep it's real dark. It's gritty and raw. It's got enough twists to give my head whiplash. I seriously could not guess what way this story was going to go.
It's a long book. I'm not sure if that's the reason I didn't read in a day or if it was I needed a breather a few times while reading.

If your following my reviews you know my head must be messed up as I love these dark stories. This was certainly a brilliant read that will stay with me for a long time.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

When you take a trip with Rebecca Sherwin into the mind of the dark and twisted characters in her stories, you never know where you will end up. You just know that the journey will be grueling, mind boggling, and that you will not be the same as you were at the beginning. Her books are erotic, psychological, genius, and terrifying. Rebecca never fails to illicit a response whether one of horror, awe, or shock which is my definition of an amazing author.

In Marked we enter the mind of Benton Wright also known as “Benny” or “The Hunter”. We get to see first hand his disturbing, abusive world and experience his actions and thoughts throughout his life. Everything from the pain he has endured, his lows and his twisted euphoric highs with his fiery haired partner. If you are looking for a sweet, flowery, and romantic love story then Marked is not for you, but if you are willing to dig deep, Rebecca knows how to tell a story like none other. Will I ever read this story again? More than likely not because every lash of abuse, cut with the knife, arousing lick, and shattering climax are firmly embedded into my brain to relive without rereading the words. It had that much impact!

Rebecca's character development is so thorough that you leave the story full of empathy, hatred, and love for the evil, weak, sick, and strong characters that have seduced, beguiled, and repulsed you. Benny's story will open your eyes to the evil lurking everywhere and bring home the fact that nothing is black and white but varying shades of grey stained red. Life is most assuredly not a fairy tale but a string of occurring events that shape and mold us into a person we are today full of unique fears, desires and drives. We can choose to step into the light or go with the darkness.

I could tell you all about what makes “The Hunter” who he is or I can extend to you a personal invitation to enter Rebecca's penned world and experience Benny for yourself. It will be a story full of pain, hate, and disturbing passion and will have you riveted from beginning to end. I highly recommend for those looking for a story without rainbows, kittens, and sunshine but instead raw, dark, and grit.

description

I don't even know where to start...

This book was dark, really dark. It was riveting to the point where I would lose time because I couldn't stop reading. I was so engrossed in what was happening; I was late for work, I went to bed late, I ignored the world around me but then I needed to take breaks because it was so intense that I just needed to breath for a little bit to absorb what I just read. The book was heartbreaking and tragic and just when you think there might be a glimmer of hope it gets smashed to smithereens.

"I was close - this fucking close - to being broke. Damaged beyond repair. Shattered. Crumbled. Destroyed. Life was destroying me. It was torture and it would be my undoing."

Benny had a terrible childhood, with an abusive father and no hope to speak of. During his teenage years things don't get any better and he goes from one terrible place to another. Homeless, dirty, a street rat, no friends, he is nothing until fate brings him to Faith.

"She smelled pure. Like untouched dew in the morning; like fields of flowers that had never been walked on, yet there was a tarnished edge that cried of times lost."

Faith is a lost soul, just like Benny is. They are two messed up people attempting to survive in a messed up world. They are likely to be the death of each other but the intensity that they share is unparalleled. "We were deviant, we were devastating." They share their pain in many ways, all of which is gritty and raw and literally made my heart break over and over.

This books was a journey like no other, Benny is destroyed all the way down to the fiber of his being and the things that he goes through to survive are unlike any that I have read. I highlighted what seems like half the book because the words were moving and real and spoke to my soul. I later realized that this is part of series and while I didn't feel like I was missing anything, I am itching to go back and read about some of the other characters. I know this review doesn't quite do the book justice, but if you are looking for something painful and dark but captivating and poetic this is it.

5 Stars!!!

I was given this book in turn for an honest review.

Benny 'The Hunter' Wright has a dark and soul destroying past. With secrets to hide and a childhood he wants to forget. Can Benny fight his past before it destroys him?

Marked is more than a story about survival, more than a story about finding out who you really are; it's a heart breaking story, mentally, physically and emotionally. It's a story about learning to breath, learning to live, learning to fight and discovering the real YOU whist surviving the tough cards the world has dealt you.

Rebecca Sherwin has poured her heart and soul into this story; the words are powerful, meaningful and above all else, heart wrenching. Benny's story completely broke me; I went through every emotion possible whilst reading his story. I wanted so badly to crawl into my kindle and hug him, tell him how amazing and strong he was, how much more he deserved and that he was capable of love and being loved in return. I also wanted to stand by his side and fight for him, giving him the chance at a life he deserved!

There were characters that intrigued me, characters that I absolutely loved, characters that I wanted to torture until they begged for mercy and characters that I wanted to take all the pain and hurt away from. They all will touch your soul in some way; some will steal a piece of your heart and others will stamp on it.

Marked is not for the faint hearted, if life experiences of a dark, delicate and emotionally nature can trigger you, I suggest you don't read it.

However if you love deep, dark, powerful, heart wrenching twisted story's, you will absolutely love Marked by Rebecca Sherwin.

Raw and gripping, this powerful twisted story is not for the faint hearted, its not a romantic love story, its gritty and dirty and emotionally charged.

Those familiar with the authors twisted series will have heard of Benny "the Hunter". This is a standalone story about his life, growing up in an abusive home and the horrific events that happen to him. Benny is twisted and emotionally scarred by his past, unable to escape, he spirals into a dark and dangerous place, not just physically but mentally as well.
They say misery likes company and Benny finds that in Faith, another equally twisted soul with her own past. A dark and dangerous relationship develops, and there seems to be only one way out!

This book left me drained, its subject matter isn't always an easy read but I felt empathy for the characters, whilst I know others have shed tears whilst reading this story I was gripped and engaged with the story, wanting to know where the storyline was going. Would Benny be OK and survive? A great emotionally charged read.

Right from the start it's obvious that this is not a light, happy read. It's a no-holds barred, stomach punching, soul destroying story. This book tore me apart and every gut wrenching chapter was a complete triumph.
The main character Benny suffers a sadistic childhood, each event increasingly traumatic. I cried for Benny so much during this book it left my eyes sore.
Yes, it's tough to read and it won't be for everyone but it is so worth it. It makes you think and question and fight against everything you believe is 'right' and truly understand what these characters have lived through and the ways in which they deal with their horrific pasts.
Rebecca has a unique way of showing the darker, seedier side of life in a different light, making you reserve your immediate instinct to judge and shake your head. Instead, you find yourself nodding, empathising and accepting. That is a rare gift and deserves enormous accolade.

I sat for a while contemplating what I'd just read once I finished this book. I was lost for words. I've read all of Rebecca's books and I have to say, this is the best she's written yet. It's a dark and twisted tale of abuse, of survival, of a desire to hurt, and be hurt. It's a tragic story that will pull every emotion from your body, screw it up in a ball and drop-kick it for miles. I'm still trying to recover. Benny 'The Hunter' is a tortured boy who has no idea of 'normal'. Faith is a tortured girl who has no idea of 'normal'. Together they are extraordinary, abnormal, destructive, yet healing. I loved every word, I mourned every tear drop that landed on my kindle as I read. My chest hurt at times with a need to gather these two lost souls and love them back to normality. If you like E K Blair, if you like dark reads, you will love Marked. Highly recommended.

I had received an ARC for an honest review and I have just finished the book and am having to sit here and process it and talk about the book. I have only had this with a couple of books and one of these was by the same author. The book is about Benny the hunter Wright and at time I was bitting my nails and just wanting to give him a cuddle. If your looking for a light story this is not the book but if you are looking for a dark story this is one I can highly recommend.

Benny, Benny, Benny!
I absolutely loved Rebecca's other books in the Twisted series. This for me has got to be the best but for completely different reasons. I loved Curtis' story, the twists and turns, the mind f*ck that it was. But Benny, my heart broke for him. The stuff he went through, just broke my heart and made me want to fight for him at the same time.
At times it was hard to read this book, but you had to plow through to find out if Benny got his happy ending or not. He deserved it, more then anyone after all.
This isn't a happy book, its dark, abusive and violent, and isn't suitable for the faint hearted but this is Benny's story and it is was it is.
Reading the other books in the series you get a glimpse of Benny and I'm so glad he got his own book. He deserved to have his Twisted story told.
You feel all these emotions for Benny while reading, you want to protect him, love him, fight for him and just be the person he never had to do all those things.
There was a whole different bunch of characters in this story. Characters I loved, characters I disliked, characters I hated and characters I wanted strangle the life out of with my bear hands. Now to say that you know the author has done a pretty good job of getting some emotions out of you and she did.
Another 5* read for Rebecca!

This book is fucking mental, it questions your sanity and I'm honestly questioning the sanity of the author after writing such a brutal book. It's dark, it's sadistic and it's bloody torture. If I could rate this all the stars in the sky, it wouldn't enough.

I was captured; hook, line and sinker from the very beginning. My heart hurts for Benton Wright, little Benny, the poor son of a bitch didn't have a chance in life really. And then there was Faith...I wasn't too sure on her if I'm honest, she's a little backward and a little off kilter, but she was fascinating yet slightly deranged and pretty much evil. But she helped Benny when no other fucker would and that sealed the deal in me liking her. Hell, I felt part of the story I was so hooked. I felt like a spectator that couldn't help when I so desperately wanted to, I felt like I was blocked by a wall of glass that I clawed at despaingly while Benny went on with the motions of life.

I feel a serious book hangover coming....mega, epic. I can't describe how much more this book made me feel and how much it will ruin others hearts when they get their paws on this.

Rebecca Sherwin...You've truly outdone yourself. I'm proud!

“It doesn’t matter if I’m the broken one when this ends. It doesn’t matter if the choice is yours and our future depends on you. I am who I am, you are who you are –either we’ll work or we won't. I’ll leave that up to you, but I’ll be your friend, Benny. I can be whatever you need. Let me do that.”

Wow!!! That was....intense. A real mind blowing story. There were so many twist and turns that took place. I really didn't expect what I just read. I'd say that if you have the faintest of hearts, this may not be the book for you. If you tend to like reading dark stories, you'll want to pick this one up! It was sad, dark, and dirty. It has pretty much every dark angle you can think of. It took me almost 4 days to finish it and I usually get done with books in half that time. That being said, it is not a quick read. It was good, and I really liked the way the author ended it. It allowed me to hope for the best when it comes to Benny. I felt so much pain for him and I'm really hoping he gets his HEA. One that will make him comfortable in his own skin!

I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Benny hasn't had an easy upbringing in all honesty his upbringing is dark dark dark. My heart broke for the child Benny in this book. His story is moving and wrapped with darkness which molds his future and taints his life.
Rebecca wrote from the soul when she did this book, she shows that life isn't all unicorns and roses its actually a rather screwed up path some of us must travel.
When we meet faith she is also pretty screwed up but she makes the book take on a whole new level. Shes the other half of Benny the part he doesn't realise he needs until he's forced to be a part from.

There are a few parts of this book which will have you clasping your hand over your mouth in terror and you definitely wont be putting it down in a hurry.

If you are looking for a mushy, romantic, melt in your heart read, then this isn't the book for you. This is a dark, twisted, rollercoaster of emotions read.

Benny hasn't had an easy life, his childhood was a horrific one, and not one that anyone would wish on a child. He is trapped in a darkness that holds him as he grows older, never seemly catches a break.

Faith is another who is seriously screwed up from what she suffered as a young child, these two seem to gravitate to each other. It's like they have a calming effect for both on them. Their love is dangerously toxic.

Rebecca has truly written a read that will reach in to your soul, and grab you.

It's taken me far too long to read this; for reasons that i had no control over.

But... Oh... My... Word!!!!

My full thoughts will be updated as soon as i have processed but honestly if you haven't read this story You NEED to!!!

What a story!!! Amazing, heartfelt and compelling.

*** WARNING: This book is not for the feint hearted!! Contains violence, abuse and sexual content from the beginning!!***

This review is long overdue, I finished reading Marked a few of weeks ago. It has taken me this long to put my thoughts and feelings into real coherent sentences and write my review, I was left wordless for a while.

Marked is the story of Benton Wright, and what a story it is!

We join Benton as a child when he was being abused by his father. After the death of his mother Benton and his father move. The abuse Benton suffers continues and gets worse.

One day on the way home from school Benton meets Freddy and they soon become friends. Freddy and his brother teach Benton some boxing. As Benton gets a bit older the abuse from his father gets worse. Until Benton finally snaps, and leaves; yes there s more to this event than I'm letting on!! ;)

Benton heads to London, he is meant to meet up with one of Freddy's brother's contacts who runs a gym, but when Benton arrives he doesn't see anyone waiting for him. So alone and with very little money it looks as though Benton has finally hit rock bottom.
When his money runs out Benton is forced to sleep rough and steal in order to survive. Then he meets Faith. Faith shows Benton a kindness he's seen very little of in his life.

Can Benton find his feet and turn his life back around? Can Benton have a happy ending or is his life too jaded? The easy way to find out is grab a copy, I'm sure you won't be disappointed.

Firstly this is NOT a happy, easy going romance. Marked is a dark, twisted roller coaster of emotions about a young tortured man who is trying to make it life, or maybe he's just trying to keep afloat and live?!

I don't think that this book contains one single pure good person, I think that they all have varying degrees of twisted darkness in them. There are some who do the right things for the wrong reasons and some that do the wrong things for the right reasons. Which, for me, just adds to the spice! Maybe I'm a little twisted too?

My heart broke for Benton in a big way, several times throughout this book. I wanted things to get better for him, no one should have to endure the things he did; EVER. Rebecca you really are EVIL!! ;) I wanted someone to step in and give him the help he needed as a child, and as a young man I wanted him to find his feet and become better than the monster that raised him.
Reading Marked took me through just about every emotion I know. It even made me want to commit murder. I found Marked compelling, intriguing and thoroughly enjoyable.

The mixture of Rebecca's words and talent coupled with my own imagination took Marked to a level beyond what I could have ever hoped for. When I wasn't reading I found myself thinking about what had happened so far and what I thought might happen. The characters are captivating, realistic and developed more and more as the story unfolded.

Overall... An amazing book. Gritty, dark, emotional, raw and twisted from start to finish. Marked is unlike anything I've read before. Rebecca you've done a fantastic job, and I sometimes worry about the thoughts in your head!! :-D

Again this is not for the feint hearted. Marked contains violence, abuse and sexual content.
I can only give this a HUGE 5* rating!! I highly recommend both Marked and all of Rebecca's other books; I've read them all!! Rebecca truly is one of my favourite authors!

So it’s no secret how much I LOVE Rebecca’s previous books, but I was actually pretty nervous about this one... I had a special hatred for any character that hurt or who had a bad word to say about Curtis (from the Twisted series)... You know unless he had done something to deserve it and even then it was a bit of a sketchy line... What can I say?! I love the guy! So I was nervous about reading Benny’s story because he was someone that seemed to have a real deep seated hatred for Curtis without having an openly valid reason. I wanted to hear his side more than anything, because even though I hated him I couldn’t hate him in the way I wanted to and that just confused me, he’s so enigmatic that I couldn’t help but be intrigued by him and drawn to him like a moth to a flame.

Marked is the life story of Benny ‘The Hunter’ Wright, so you get to know every last detail of his sometimes disturbing tale straight from the man himself as it’s told entirely in his POV, and boy does he have a lot to say! Benny broke my heart at least 10 times every chapter and as I read I couldn’t stop the protective instincts from surging to life and really why would I want to? He deserves protecting, he needs someone in his corner. You really need to heed the warning that comes with this book because Benny’s story isn’t one for the faint of heart, there is a lot of heartache and a TON of evil but if you stick with it and persevere you won’t be sorry, because his story is sensational just like the man himself.

Every story has that one character that shakes it up and changes everything... For Marked that is Faith. Faith explodes into Benny’s life in a blaze of colour, turns his world upside down and gives him things he never dreamed he’d have. I don’t really know how to sum her up other than her being a philosophical firecracker! Her moods flip quicker than a coin, one minute she can be raging out and the next she can be calm and spouting off some wisdom! So while Benny had my heart in pieces and was running away with huge chunks of it, Faith kept my mind in knots and between them they had me well and truly hooked, on both them and their antics, so much so that when I had finished the book I sat there for a while thinking ‘What am I supposed to do now?!’ They are just that imperfect couple that on first glance seem co-dependant and unhealthy for each other but when you dig deeper and get to know them and their methods and the reasons behind their actions you realise that they are actually perfect for each other, because no one else will ever be strong enough to be able to fill that void, soothe the ache that they both have and whenever I asked myself ‘Why are they doing that?’ I had Faith’s words in my head ‘What the little ones see, the little ones do’ when I added in the fact that they are basically just two scared, lost kids in adult bodies everything clicked and made sense and I felt like I totally got them both by the end of the book.

Rebecca’s books are always really deep and Marked is no different, the psychology was amazing... It was actually scary sometimes how warped Benny’s mind had become from his childhood, scary but so fascinating! Like I mentioned before Marked isn’t for the faint of heart, the things that Benny has lived and survived through are shocking so just prepare yourself for the waterworks... Grab a box of tissues just in case ;)

Thank you for telling The Hunter’s story Rebecca, I am so glad I got to know and love the real Benny 

“She tasted like sex; like questionable, slaying sex and haunting memories. She tasted of the physical evidence of our collision and it was both beautiful and brutal.”

5 mark me stars!! Another great book by Rebecca! I’m obsessed with this series!

This book can definitely make you feel uncomfortable as you read. It’s dark and gritty, it most definitely takes you on a turbulent ride of emotions. You are constantly on a mission to figure out where the book is going and then it takes a totally different turn. I’m obsessed with this series and I love Rebecca and all that she does! But this book is now my favorite!

This is a very intense, raw and dark story about Benton "Benny" Wright. The whole book is from his POV and starts when he is a toddler. It then takes us through his harrowing teenage years and on to his life on the streets of London. His story is heartbreaking as it is one of childhood abuse, both mentally and physically. There are graphic and violent scenes as well as various sexual situations readers may find disturbing. Your heart will go out to Ben and my maternal instincts just wanted to cuddle and help him as he deserved a better life.

After an incident while he sleeping rough, he meets Faith and she is very aptly named, as she gives him someone to have faith in. She has also had a horrendous childhood so they are both victims trying to survive their demons. Can two broken people help each other and have a relationship or will it cause more problems? They both have an evil and deviant side which they use as a coping mechanism and you are left trying to work out if they are the monsters they think they are. I felt they were still just two kids who never got to grow up properly and were adjusting to adulthood as best they could. I totally understood them needing each other as they shared experiences and had an understanding of what the other had been through.

Faith is a fascinating character and has a sweet philosophical side. As the story continues we find out more about her life and also more details of what Ben went through. She wants to help Ben and he wants to protect her but can they find a way to deal with their needs as both feel they can never be normal human beings.

The last part of the story is very emotional and in places some readers may find it hard to read, but it is very relevant and keeps to the dark theme that has run through the whole story. There are times you will need the tissues as it will make you cry but it is an amazing book I thoroughly recommend.

I must mention the authors notes at the end of the book as they are well worth reading because she explains about writing this book and how many people experience the life Benny did - " Life isn't a fairytale"

Well what a read this was! This has been on my mind all week. I normally start a book and finish it within the day, but annoyingly life kept stopping me from devouring this in one sitting. It's taken me 3 days! Mind you it's a long story so even if I had the time it would have taken me longer than usual. It may be a long book but every single word was needed.
This book gave me lots of feels, sickened, sad, desperate, worried, anxiousness, curious, relief, hope, happiness. So many feels on this journey!
Benny had a very abusive life right from the beginning. It got worse after his mother was brutally killed and she was no longer there to protect him! This is a gut wrenching tale of Benny's life and how he was made to lead his life by his father until his 18th birthday, when he broke free from that life to fall straight into another hard life on the streets! I was begging for him to get a break, my heart ached for him, until Faith came into his life. I had hope that she could fix him but she was just as broken as Benny was. They were both tormented, broken souls and now my heart ached for them both!
Things happen that I really didn't expect and neither did Benny!
Can they fix each other or will they break each other even more? Will they ever be able to survive without pain?
I can't recommend this enough, Rebecca has done a brilliant job, I was captivated by this and I think it will stay with me for a long time to come!

WOW, Let me begin by saying that this book is NOT for the faint hearted. It deals with many hard issues including child abuse.

It is an extremely hard read, one that will gut you inside out and upside down. One that will wring all of your emotions out of you until you are an empty emotionless shell.

Benny makes an appearance in the other Twisted books. In those books he comes across as a nasty piece of work. But in this book, his story, you come to realise why he is the way he is. The things he goes through are enough to make your toes curl and hair stand on end!!

At times I had to stop and I admit I almost threw up a few times too!!

Faith also had to deal with so very much. As someone that has suffered physical violence at the hands of an ex husband I really felt myself drawn to her character.

Marked tells the story of two very tortured souls that have the power to heal eachother if they allow themselves to. A very hearfelt yet dark read.

Another 5* from this author and it's plain to see why. An author that can make you feel so many different emotions in one go is worth her weight in gold.

I won a copy of this book in a competition and it is one of the best books I've read so far this year. It is an awesome book if you like a dark, dirty, mind-blowing and heart-wrenching story. The synopsis accurately tells the reader that this isn't a love story but a twisted one. It is often violent and graphic because it is a story about abuse and two broken characters , who both have horrendous pasts. My heart went out to Ben and Faith and I hoped so much they could help each other and not cause each other worse problems. They are both victims and some readers may find it hard reading not only what happened to them but how they have since coped. I appreciated their need for each other as they understood what the other had gone through. I loved Faith's philosophical side as it helped explain some of how they were surviving.
This is a long, raw and intense book but I totally recommend it. It left me extremely grateful for the childhood I had and the life I am living.
Please read the authors notes at the end because they are just as emotional as the story.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is by far the most dark and twisted novel I have read...and I loved it!

Rebecca Sherwin has written a novel that is gritty, raw and real. It is a reality in the world today. The author has not sugar coated incidents and scenarios and in my opinion this is is her best work yet.

Benny and Faith have had to endure horror that you can't even begin to imagine. It changes their lives and psyche. Circumstances can make or break a person and they deal with these circumstances in the only way they know how...and it is heartbreaking to read.

I HIGHLY recommend this novel for those wanting a story about how real life can be utterly cruel but that one must never give up hope.

Be warned though...this is not a book for the faint hearted!

I was lucky enough to win an ARC of Marked, I was drawn in so much by the awesome cover and blurb but OMG after reading this book it totally blew my mind. Be prepared for a book that will grip your heart and keep it pounding with its raw intensity.
Benton and Faith both have mental and physical scars they wish they could forget about, damaged by their pasts they are trying to survive. When their paths cross they come to realise that being together could either heal or destroy them. The connection they have is raw and intense this is no hearts and flowers story, I found myself hoping that
these complexed two could heal each others scars.
I absolutely loved this book, most books I read have the odd intense scene but Rebecca Sherwin has the ability to keep an intensity through every page. Marked is one book that will stay with you long after you finish reading it.

Wow...this is one of those reviews I may have to come back and edit after I have time to process and recoup from this book. Definitely not for everyone and took me a lot longer than usual to read because I could only handle it in small doses. What poor Benny went through growing up had me nauseated and heartbroken. Add Faith and her story and I almost couldn't finish the book. Thankfully...I did!
If you enjoy dark reads, and I mean dark, then Marked by Rebecca Sherwin is definitely worth checking out!

I received an ARC from TBConFB for an honest review.
This is dark love story of two people fighting demons from their past.
Faith and Benny are both victims of child abuse as well a life built around lies.
Together they learn to diverge a secret at a time..and their love affair develops.
Faith, does tattoos for homeless people, whilst Benny earns the occasional wage through fighting.
Throughout the book the couple continue to fight the demons that surround them. A dark novel that I couldn't put down.

This isn't your traditional romance. It's about a severely messed up, troubled Benny. Circumstances and his past have made him who he is today and at times I found this a hard book to read. You can't help but empathise with poor Benny and Faith. My first book by this author and it definitely won't be my last. Be warned this is quite dark in parts (all relevant to the story) and it's definitely not a hearts and flowers romance. A really good, unforgettable book.

this is the first book I’ve read by this author and I was really surprised by how much I loved it. this is a heart breaking and quite dark story. this book will defiantly push your boundaries, on one part you have very flawed characters with dark tragic pasts then you have the trying to find love aspect, this is very well written. the characters were written brilliantly and you really feel all the emotions that they feel. defiantly a book to read.

highly recommended

Marked by Rebecca Sherman
ATTENTION: IF YOU CANNOT READ ABOUT CHILD ABUSE, SEXUAL ABUSE OR HAVE TRIGGERS OF ABUSE AND OTHERWISE, DO NOT, I REPEAT, DO NOT READ THIS BOOK

The first thirteen chapters of this book is very very rough and hard to read and swallow. Very!!!! I almost wasn't going to be able to keep reading. I had my email open to let Rebecca know that I could NOT finish this book but I dredged on. It was hard, very hard, but in the end, I am glad I did finish this book, a little longer than i usually finish a book because I had to put it down and walk away from it more than I'd like to admit.
Now let me tell you why I gave this book a 5 star rating. Even though it was very hard for me to stomach the first 13 chapters, this story never fell to the wayside, it was always right there keeping you on your toes wanting to know what happened to this little boy, Benny. It was all written in good "taste" and made me want to trudge forward even though my motherly instincts were crying and bleeding for him and then for Faith when she steps into the picture.

What Benny and Faith endured during their childhood was the most horrible thing I could ever imagine. My stomach hurt, my heart bled, my soul cried for them. No child should ever have to go through that ever, but unfortunately it happens more than we would like to think. I'm glad I did finish this book and found out what happens to Benny and Faith. This is a very strong story. A story about being put through the worst ever and trying to turn it around to something good or calming or "normal" whatever normal is to you.
Again, if you cannot handle reading about abuse of any kind, especially of children, this book is NOT for you. But I can tell you it does end better then it started.
