After meeting Terry at a motorcycle show, Gavin is sure he’s found the man of his dreams. While he’s fantasized about BDSM for years, Gavin has never had a play partner and Terry is happy to teach him. After playing together for a few months, Terry has to leave on a business trip. Terry gives Gavin the key to his apartment so Gavin can sleep in, but Gavin isn’t sure he’s ready for that level of commitment. While he likes and trusts Terry—and loves the kinky sex they have together—Gavin has to decide which he can’t give up: Terry, or his freedom.
Part one was originally published as Boots and Leather by Torquere Press.
T. Strange didn't want to learn how to read, but literacy prevailed and she hasn't stopped reading—or writing—since. She's been published since 2013, and she writes M/M romance in multiple genres, including paranormal and BDSM. T.'s other interests include cross stitching, gardening, watching terrible horror movies, playing video games, and finding injured pigeons to rescue. Originally from White Rock, BC, she lives on the Canadian prairies, where she shares her home with her wife, cats, guinea pigs and other creatures of all shapes and sizes. She's very easy to bribe with free food and drinks—especially wine.
A bratty twink bumped into a leather Daddy at a motorcycle bar and said, "spank me". The sadist leather Daddy said "no". Gavin is the stereotypical young, handsome gay boy looking to hook up for some kinky fun with a bear of a man. Gavin definitely follows the pattern by shopping for a stereotype dominant man at a motorcycle show. Gavin has absolutely no interests in riding, unless it is on a man. The only chrome Gavin probably looks for is on a metal butt plug. It's hard pressed to be less shallow than Gavin.
Luckily, Gavin is not all airhead when he meets and talks to Terry. Terry is a more experienced male in more ways than just BDSM. He's happy to show Gavin the ropes, so to speak. What turns out to be some fun flirtation turns into a more serious and committed relationship. The two characters become more endearing as the story progresses. Gavin is a rambunctious puppy and he brings out the fun in Terry. Terry more mature outlook needs the spontaneity of Gavin's infectious nature. It's a sweet mix.
This story is the second in the series. It is recommended to read them in order. As a standalone, it is just fine. The BDSM in this story is light to medium depending on a reader's experience. The pace of the story is smooth and easy. There are no jarring scenes or odd dialogue to pull a reader out of the story. This story is in first person from Gavin's perspective. There are times as it almost feels as if Gavin is speaking to the reader. Not a particularly appealing point of view, but for Gavin it works.
This is sexy written piece enjoyable from beginning to end. The descriptions are clear and sexy is erotic. If the stories could be longer, it would be better. As it is, each of T. Strange books whet the appetite and just as the reader is hooked, the tale ends. Recommended for kinky m/m readers who love their leather Daddies riding motorcycles.
ThreeandHalfStars This was a strange kind of story. It follows exactly how the premise reads, which was nice. However, it also seemed somehow disjointed for me. I liked the relationship that developed, but there was always such strain because of the "not being ready" aspect in the relationship.
The sex between them is well thought out, provocative and even though it seemed to me that they jumped in to a relationship without too much discussion and thought, both seemed to enjoy each other immensely.
I would have liked to have seen more of a development of the story, the characters. The reader only catches glimpses of what their relationship is - between working and trying to find the balance. I was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads. AvidReader
ThreeandHalfStars Lock and Key by T. Strange was a short, fast read. Gavin is trying to find someone to experiment BDSM with, so he pursues Terry at a motorcycle show. The relationship that they developed over several months, seemed to be only about the sex. But I thought they fit well together, they got along well. I thought Gavin was kind of meek when it came to committing.
I wish there had been a little more depth to the story. You don't really know anything about the characters except their jobs. If your looking for a steamy read, this one has tons of sex, and you would probably enjoy it. I was given this in return for an honest review by Inked Rainbow Reads. Sherry
Original review on Molly Lolly Four stars! Gavin is adorable with how he just melts into Terry. He is excited to finally have someone that understands his kinks, but still has some reservations. Gavin handles them well despite not wanting to talk about them or make things weird between him and Terry. Terry is easy going and goes with the flow. Their relationship was quick to build but you could see the emotions went deep between the two men. I loved how Terry handled Gavin’s issues and hang ups. He didn’t let them keep their relationship from continuing to build. I enjoyed T. Strange’s brand of humor in this story. Gavin and Terry are pretty solid at the end of the story, however there are still some hurdles they need to overcome and I’d love to see that in a sequel of some kind.
This is my second book/novella by this author and I have to say she is becoming a fast auto 1-click for me. They are normally only about 50 pages, so a quick read before bed. Which I just love, not having to start another book and getting sucked in, not sleeping for hrs. This time we've Gavin, a bank teller with a fetish for biker daddies or so he thinks. he's done a lot of reading/surfing but has yet to find the right guy to fulfill his dreams. In walks Terry, the object of Gavin's every dream. The pace of this story is fast, but covers a large time period. So both of these characters have time to grow and develop. I think what I loved most was that Terry understood Gavin's nervousness entering this wide new world and was patient with him. Asking for lists, concerns, explaining each process. Not just a wham-bam-Thank you sir. And of course we get a HEA at the end.
