J.L. Seegars is a dedicated smut peddler and lifelong nerd who’s always had a love of words, storytelling and drama. When she isn’t writing messy and emotionally complex characters like the ones she grew up around, she’s watching reality TV, supporting her fellow authors by devouring their work or spending time with her husband and son.
Not as good as part one, but 100% more satisfying! I loved this story so much, because it showed love in such an interesting way. Not being able to have the one you love in the way that means the most, so you settle for what you can have at this time? Gut-wrenchingly stunning display on the only affair I can justify in good conscience.
I loved Mallory's character development from part one to now, and I would have loved to be able to say the same for Chris. He was still the same tortured soul, and I hated that for him. I love what it meant for the story, but I hate that he has lived in this moment, feeling frozen in time, for all these years. He didn't deserve that as much as Mallory didn't deserve how The Act ended. I don't know if the punishment truly fits the crime.
I loved seeing Dom and Sloane, more so Dom, in this book. Understanding how tortured his character has felt since page one of 'Restore Me' and understanding that he even began protecting Sloane before she ever even had a clue he was in love with her, was more than heartwarming. Funny enough, it's hard for me to accept having to grieve Eric, after getting so little of him in part one. I don't know what I wanted to know about him, but I think I desired to k now him for myself, and not through the perspective of Mal, Chris, Dom, or Sloane. Nod to the authors excellence in character building that I even think I deserve to know him when no story is actually centered around him.
This story was shorter and straight to the point, which I appreciate because it matched the urgency of their needs. And babbyyyyyyyyy, them needs were MET, okay?! So spicy, so sexy, so needy, so everything I wanted to see, and so excited for part three!
Oh my days, the angst this book!!! Christopher Johnson, wheeeew! I hate to love you almost as much as Mallory does!😭😭 I just love the way JL Seegars constructs characters! You truly get to understand them fundamentally and I am here for it!! Normally I would expect the delay of the HEA to piss me off but this woman writes so well and has so much depth on her stories that I don’t mind diving into another 500 plus pages of Chris and Mallory. Their story is tragic, epic, beautiful and haunting. Excited to see its culmination. Also going to re-iterate that Reese Johnson is the very worst brand of humanity.
I didn't see any of this coming! A story full of mystery and regret. Love and chaos. And.... I. Needed. It. All! No spoilers just a warning... You will be hooked!
