His Last Secret

Rate this book
She found a note that will change her life forever. He never got the chance to explain.

Anna has spent years believing she knows her husband.

Daniel is loving, loyal, dependable, the kind of man who makes her feel safe. The kind of man who would never lie to her.

Or so she thought.

Then Anna finds a note in his coat one rainy evening.

A note that makes no sense.

A note that could change the course of their marriage.

A note that suggests their marriage may have been built on something Anna does not understand.

She tells herself there must be an explanation. There has to be. Daniel would never betray her. Daniel would never keep something this big from her.

But before Anna can confront him, Daniel is involved in a devastating crash.

And suddenly, the questions she was desperate to ask are trapped between them.

As Anna searches for the truth, one secret leads to another. An old photograph. A familiar-looking child. A past Daniel never spoke about.

Someone knows what Daniel was hiding.

And every answer Anna finds may have been left for her on purpose.

A gripping psychological thriller about marriage, betrayal, family secrets and the lies that refuse to stay buried. Perfect for fans of Freida McFadden, Daniel Hurst, Shari Lapena and K.L. Slater.

How would you feel if you discovered life changing secrets about a loved one of whom is right in front of you, and yet you cannot learn the answers?
This was the question examined for Anna in His Last Secret. Whilst this book got off to somewhat of slow start, it did ramp up. Anna had burning questions of which she was determined to find answers to after she discovered a note in her husband’s pocket the night before he ended up in a coma. Throughout the book, secrets begin to unravel as she delves into an incident in the past. Varied perspectives reveal the truth to the reader of the book, but by the end, Anna seems to have accepted unanswered questions. Whilst I understood this revealed some growth and acceptance on her part, I had a hard time believing this of her character based on the initial inception of her character.
I also struggled with a feeling of deja vu in the book as it seemed that a lot of phrases and descriptions were used multiple times throughout the book.
That being said, the twists in this book were indeed very twisty, which kept me engaged and made for an enjoyable read. Many times just before the reveal I would find myself coming up with different scenarios, trying to solve (and sometimes getting close!), and then going “ohhhhhh so that’s why!” after the reveal.
In addition, I thought this book did a very nice job of capturing sorrow. I found myself reflecting on occurrences in which I too, felt sorrow.
Overall, this was an enjoyable read and I extend my thanks to the author for a free ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I absolutely loved this book! It had me completely hooked from the very first chapter, and I couldn't put it down. The story was thrilling, twisty, and packed with emotion, keeping me invested every step of the way. Just when I thought I had everything figured out, another surprise would leave me second-guessing myself. The characters felt authentic, and their emotional journeys added so much depth to the story. This was the perfect blend of suspense, heart, and intrigue. An unforgettable read that I highly recommend!

His Last Secret - Harriet Warren
From the moment Anna found that note hidden in Daniel’s pocket, I was completely hooked. Then came the knock at the door from the police and I knew there was no way I was putting this book down until I reached the very last page.
This book is packed with tension, secrets and twists that constantly had me second guessing everything I thought I knew. Every chapter seemed to unlock another secret, revealing more lies and hidden truths that pulled me even deeper into Anna and Daniel’s story.
Harriet Warren does an incredible job of building suspense throughout, keeping the reader on edge and desperate to uncover the truth. Just when I thought I had things figured out, another twist came along and completely changed everything. Wow… what a twist!! And oh, the heartbreak… some moments genuinely hit hard and left me completely emotional.
A gripping psychological thriller that will keep you turning the pages long into the night.
