Loud As Bones
Iris's life unravels the night the monsters from the vampire lore she's obsessed with descend upon her world-ancient, ravenous, and all too real. She loses the love of her life and the illusion that anything was ever safe. What follows is an existence drenched in blood, and death, and ruin.
Trapped in the decaying house she once imagined as a haven, Iris is kept alive for the pleasure and use of two vampires. She becomes their plaything, their prisoner. The rooms she once hoped to fill with warmth are now filled with bones. Skulls sit on shelves like trophies, but they are not silent. Each one carries a trace of memory, and if Iris listens closely, she can hear them.

If you like your vampire fiction unapologetically dark, erotic, and fearlessly bold, Loud as Bones will inspire the kind of primal fear that will hold you breathless. Woods' poetic, lush prose brings to mind the delirious sensuality of early Anne Rice while embodying a modern storyteller's attention to form and pacing.
Vampire-obsessed Iris wakes up in a living nightmare--one in which her partner is murdered by a duo of hedonistic vampires, and she is imprisoned as their blood servant and sexual thrall. They overtake the home she was lovingly restoring, making it a den of blood, bones, and forbidden desires. As Iris sinks deeper into despair, she must draw upon her own darkness to survive.
Pay attention to the content warnings with this one, but personally, as an avid horror reader, I did not find it as triggering as some of the dark horror novels I've read. Woods' excellent prose and her keen, detail-oriented storytelling keep the pages turning with clever reversals and twists that surprised me. If you aren't afraid of a little gore and vampires who are truly monstrous, you'll enjoy this lyrically macabre contribution to the genre.

It was 2 a.m. when the massacre happened in the isolated house known as Whitmore House.
The novel follows Iris as she becomes a prisoner in her own home and finds herself trapped at the mercy of two ruthless vampires.
As the story unfolds, her memories begin to betray her, reality becomes harder to understand, and she slowly starts losing everything.
This house becomes filled with bones that hold secrets from the past. The story is brutal, but beneath the horror lies a tale of love, fear, loss, and survival.
The writing was beautiful, exactly what I expected from D.G. Woods
Just make sure to read the trigger warnings first. Whitmore House is not a place for the faint of heart.

Gritty, dark, and gore filled; this novella brought the reader through a tragic ending and new beginning. Choices were taken away as quickly as decisions revealed themselves- challenging the main character on their outlook on life and what they are going to do with the opportunities that present themselves.

Hard to put down
From beginning to end, it definitely is a different vampire story with a twist in the chapter. Agatha would be a great character to carry a series.
