Even though Hetty has been closing her eyes to the facts the whole time, reality catches up with her. And she would much rather solve a criminal case than deal with her own problems.

About the author
Elda Drake
30 books4 followersElda Drake is the pen name of a Bavarian author whose fascination with Australia began during her first journey across the continent in 2000. Since then, she has returned again and again, travelling independently by camper van and discovering the country's extraordinary landscapes, wildlife, and people far beyond the typical tourist routes.
Those experiences became the inspiration for the Snake Camper Novels—a twenty-book series that combines Australian adventures, mystery, humour, and heartfelt relationships into one continuous story.
Although each novel follows a different journey through Australia and can be enjoyed on its own, the real heart of the series lies in the long-term development of its characters. Over twenty books, readers accompany Hetty, Kai, Patrick, and their friends through adventures, personal challenges, and life-changing decisions that gradually shape an unconventional but deeply human story about trust, family, responsibility, and love.
Elda enjoys creating characters who grow over time rather than relying on dramatic plot twists alone. Her stories are inspired by real places she has visited throughout Australia, bringing together authentic locations with fictional adventures and a strong emotional core.
The novels were originally written in the early 2010s and intentionally preserve the technology and atmosphere of that time. While Australia has changed over the years, the stories remain a snapshot of an era before smartphones, cloud services, and drones became part of everyday life.
When she isn't writing, she's usually planning her next journey—or dreaming about Australia's endless roads.
