Darcelle’s tragic death was not her end, but her beginning.
Awakening in Hell, she’s forced to face a terrifying truth: She is no ordinary soul, and Hell has been waiting for her.
Bound by a contract she never agreed to, Darcelle has one year to choose a demon to soulbond with. A shapeshifting Yōkai that feels too human for Hell. A Djinn prince unwilling to grant her wishes. An Incubus whose fascination grows more obsessive by the day. And… An ice Elemental who would rather spill her blood than protect it.
Darcelle must navigate a world of seductive bargains, complex politics, and powers she barely understands. Powers that have Hell itself on edge.
Bleeding ink. Forging realms. Finding beauty in the broken.
Mysti Graves writes emotionally charged romance that explores the spaces most people are afraid to look at. Her debut novel, Tristful Tryst, is a contemporary taboo romance rooted in grief, longing, and the complex ways people cope.
A lifelong lover of dark romance, romantasy, and morally grey characters, Mysti is drawn to stories that challenge boundaries and stir every feeling at once. She believes books are a form of art, and art should leave fingerprints on the heart.
When she isn’t writing, she’s spending time with her husband and two daughters or creating in other ways, painting, crafting resin trinkets and whatchamacallits, gaming her way through RPG worlds, or curating soundtracks that feel like entire lifetimes. Music is as essential to her process as ink.
She is currently drafting multiple new realms full of tropes, romance, and angst.
“Review of an advanced copy received from the author”
Mysti Graves really said, "Here's a slow burn," and then proceeded to slow burn me for an entire book before leaving me hanging off a cliff at the end.
As the first book in a new series, Divine Sin does exactly what it needs to do. It introduces readers to Darcelle, the men in her orbit, and the fascinating world of Hell while laying the groundwork for what promises to be an epic story.
One of my favorite aspects was getting to know Darcelle through the eyes of the men around her. As they learned more about her past, so did we, and it made uncovering pieces of her backstory feel natural and engaging. Watching her adjust from mortal life to suddenly finding herself in Hell created a lot of interesting questions that I'm excited to see explored in future books.
I'm especially intrigued by her relationship with Lucifer and curious to see how that develops moving forward. I also can't wait to learn more about her powers. She's still so new to this world, and watching her come into her own is shaping up to be one of the most exciting parts of the series.
The world-building was another highlight for me. The Nine Circles, the infernal politics, the soulbond dynamics, and the mysteries surrounding Darcelle all kept me invested and wanting more.
And then there's that ending.
Mysti spent this entire book building tension, giving us pieces of the puzzle, and getting us attached to these characters before ending on a cliffhanger that has me immediately wanting book two.
If you enjoy dark fantasy romance, demon love interests, infernal politics, hidden heritage, and slow-burn stories that leave you desperate for the next installment, Divine Sin is definitely worth adding to your TBR.
Now excuse me while I impatiently wait for book two.
I loved the book and already want more especially because of the cliffhanger at the end. I just stared at my tablet for a second and was like why 😭. Not only would recommend but I'm secretly giving it six and a half stars please write the second book soon.

I bought this physical book after the tropes I saw over several months before its release. No regrets buying this physical copy. BUT……To the author,
CRUEL. The audacity. CRUEL!!! I screamed out loud!
Oh this book. I wasn’t sure what to expect when I began reading. It was fun, the world building was some of my favorite this year! I loved the detail! From characters to the circles, I truly began enjoying this read. I honestly thought I figured so much out. But immediately the author reminds you she is in control, not you! I was expecting something with the reaper, with it all! But NO. You will be built up, and just on the second to last half page think you know what’s going to go down. Only to find YOU DONT KNOW ANYTHING! And not in a “this book sucks way. In a “plot twist without detail plot twist that’s also a cliffhanger but you have no idea of the cliff you are now hanging on. This now feels like torture waiting for book 2, and with endless questions!? Is hell sweet at times? Will there be spice that finally delivers what we all were hoping for? Is daddy dearest unhinged more than we thought? are all the mmc’s who they say they are? Or are ill we all be left in that ice prison feeling what we felt in book 1 😩 😈
I did a buddy read for this arc and went in with no expectations at all. I’m not really into the fantasy genre but OMG THIS DID NOT DISAPPOINT! Also I am not okay! That cliffhanger you left us on!! HOW COULD YOU 😭😭😭
We follow Darcelle into the afterlife, but one thing she didn’t know was her birth father was Lucifer! Now discovering she’s a Nephilim and a princess of Hell we watch her navigate and try find her power within. To help Darcelle on her journey, she’s appointed guides/helpers/suitors? All in one and we meet Karv, Ank, Haruki and Z, who all possess different abilities. Karv is an incubus, Ank is a djinn, Haruki is a shapeshifter and Z is an ice elemental! So we see different types of demons and how they manage and manipulate using their powers which makes it so interesting!
I absolutely love the whole seven deadly sins element and it was represented so well! This book had me hooked from the start and I’m so bloody excited for book 2 because I’m left with so many questions and I need the answers!!!!!!!!!!!
Alright let’s talk about it… I have.. no words.. 😶 If six stars was a thing she’d have it. She really said, let me give yall a slow burn with multiple options, and then let me continue that slow burn through the whole book. Just when you think ya girl is gonna give some solid answers BAM. Throws you off the cliff! One of the hardest cliffhangers I’ve ever dealt with. The book was phenomenal, I was cackling throughout. You get an awesome variety of characters to relate to, a new perspective on certain things in the fantasy world she creates for you and just a nice slow burn that gives you enough to make you wanna scream do it already😂. Guys book 2 can not come fast enough I need to knooooow
Darcelle is a 22 yr old woman who's life had been cut short. She must navigate through the afterlife and try to cope with her new so called life in hell. She is escorted around by 4 demons that are sent by her father.. the big bad devil. Darcelle just learn about all 9 circles of hell and their function as well as the demons guarding them because one day she will be in charge of a circle herself. This book is sad, intriguing, and had my attention all the way to the end. But it's not the for Darcelle, it's just the beginning. I rate this a 4.5 star read, goodreads would let me out 4.5 . Disclaimer: This also was a free Arc read
Divine Sin: The Dark Awakening instantly became one of my top reads of the year. In fact, it earned a five-star rating before I had even reached the halfway point. This book completely consumed me. I found myself daydreaming about the characters, replaying scenes in my head, and constantly thinking about the plot whenever I wasn't reading. That's when I know a book has truly sunk its claws into me. Mysti has created something incredibly special here. Every character is layered, complex, and compelling. I found myself constantly reevaluating my favorites with every POV shift because each character brought something unique and fascinating to the story. The depth of this world is astounding. The worldbuilding feels effortless, unfolding naturally without ever overwhelming the reader. Mysti has a rare talent for weaving information into the story in a way that feels immersive rather than instructional, allowing you to experience the world instead of simply being told about it. As a reader and aspiring author, I found this book incredibly inspiring. Mysti's talent for dark romantasy shines on every page, and this feels like the beginning of something truly remarkable. With four more books to come, I can already tell this is a series I'll be eagerly following. Mysti, you've created a story that will stay with me for a long time. You continue to inspire me as a writer, and I have no doubt you're going to make an incredible mark on the dark romantasy genre. I cannot wait for what's next.
Divine Sin is an absolute must read!! The second you start reading you’re drawn in and intrigued with each character! Divine Sin is a dark fantasy romance that follows Darcelle and begins her story who dies under mysterious circumstances and awakens in a supernatural world. She meets several powerful male characters who make her feel all different types of feelings and make her wonder what their motives are? Darcelle is trying to navigate her life and answer her own questions she has. It’s a definite must read, and is left to make you wonder.
✨Arc review✨He’s a ten but……he’s an incubus, he’s a Djinn, he’s a shapeshifter, he’s a cold blooded(literally) asshole. Mysti literally said you want a little bit of everything? Here ya go. I was immediately swept up in this world and the characters, and I found myself clinging to each word. The MMCs are so well written and all so intriguing in their own right that it’s hard to pick just one (I think that’s the point, so good job girl), and the FMC is feisty and opinionated but also knows the perfect moments to be vulnerable and open. And the cliffhanger ending had me screaming 😱 seriously that’s all?!! Mysti girl I am so ready for the sequel.
IF I COULD GIVE THIS INFINITE STARS I WOULD!! I want to write an eloquent and effusive review befitting this book but I get so flustered thinking about it I cannot seem to string words together in a way that don't either tell you everything or make zero sense. So I will just say... IT'S SO FUCKING GOOD DUDE. Read the book, let yourself fall into this world and these characters. Fair warning!! Absolutely DIABOLICAL cliffhanger, but a perfectly executed one!!!
I completely devoured this book and I have no words! If I could rate this book 6 starts I would in a heartbeat!! I am completely obsessed with everything in this book!
Right from the beginning Darcelle is thrown into a world after she dies and everything goes to hell… LITERALLY! She is such a strong FMC and I loved getting little glimpses of her life through her dreams. I also love that the guys are able to also get little glimpses of her when she was in the mortal realm.
As for the guys… listen I am obsessed with all of them! And yes even Z. There is something they all bring out in her and she bring out in them. Can’t she just choose them all?? 😭😭 I fell in LOVE with all the men and Darcelle!
The world building was top tier for me!! I could picture everything that was going on in hell and the descriptions of the characters was chef’s kiss 🤌🏽 The Nine Circles, the infernal politics, the soulbond dynamics, and questions about Darcelle was perfectly written!
Now for that cliffhanger… Listen I have SOOOOOO MANY QUESTIONS!! That ending made everything that I thought the story was going completely change!! Especially Darcelle’s relationship with Lucifer. Now I have a couple of thoughts that might be happening but we will see for the second book! Which I am soooo excited to read!! I cannot wait for the second book!!
Topes: 😈 Demon academy 🖤 Morally gray characters 🫠 Forced proximity ⚡️ Power awakening 🥵 Obsessive MMC’s 💀 Touch her and die
The way this book grabbed my attention and held it hostage needs to be studied!!!! From meeting her at her death to the ending that had me raging.. I couldn’t stop thinking about it!!! Get your hands on this book right away!

Trope List:
• dark fantasy romance • demon academy / infernal court / infernal politics • morally gray characters • Princess of Hell • demon love interests • forbidden attraction • power awakening • hidden heritage • supernatural abilities • she didn't ask for this • forced proximity • forced to choose • obsessive MMCs • touch her and die • slow burn with chaos • tension so thick it bites • fated bond / soul bond • they fall first • soft for her • rage / ruin / spiraling • trauma / grief / tragedy
“Divine Sin: The Dark Awakening" by Mysti Graves is an absolute masterpiece of dark fantasy romance, and I am officially obsessed. From the very first page, I was completely pulled into Darcelle’s story, and honestly, I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since. This book is everything I love wrapped into one thrilling package!!
Darcelle's journey is unlike anything I've read. Her tragic death isn't an end, but a shocking awakening in Hell, where she discovers she's no ordinary soul and that this place has been waiting for her. Bound by a contract she never agreed to, she has one year to choose a demon to soulbond with – and what a choice it is! There's a shapeshifting Yōkai who feels too human, a Djinn prince unwilling to grant wishes, an obsessive Incubus, and an ice Elemental who'd rather spill her blood than protect it. And I’m just crazy enough to LOVE THEM ALL!! Just sitting here hoping this is gonna be a why choose situation lol.
The world-building is addictive!! Darcelle is bold, fierce, and exactly the kind of FMC I adore. Getting to know her through the eyes of the men around her, and uncovering pieces of her backstory as they did, was absolutely amazing. And those men... OMG, the way they YEARN! It’s just everything I didn’t know I needed. Every character was absolutely perfect in their own way and I found myself constantly changing my mind about who I trusted and who I was rooting for. This book had me hooked with its plot, constantly needing to read "just one more chapter" because every time I thought I had something figured out, another twist came. That ending, though? Absolutely Criminal! Mysti didn’t have to do me that way lol! I need book two immediately because ya girl has got to know what happens next!!
If you love dark fantasy romance with supernatural elements, mystery, and a story that keeps you curious until the very last page, you absolutely have to read "Divine Sin: The Dark Awakening"! (And be sure to check the trigger warnings!)

Divine Sin: The Dark Awakening was such an addictive read for me!
This is the first book I've read by Mysti Graves, and I am soooo happy I stumbled across them on TT because HOLY SHIT!!
This book had so many things I love wrapped into one story... dark fantasy vibes, supernatural intrigue, mystery, tension, and enough yearning to make me absolutely feral 🥵
OMG... the way these men YEARN. That's it. That's the review 😂 Okay, okay... not really 💀
There is some spice in this book, but honestly, the plot was what had me completely hooked. Every time I thought I had something figured out, I found myself needing to read just one more chapter to see what was really going on.
One of my favorite things about this book was the atmosphere. There was a constant feeling that something bigger was happening beneath the surface, and I loved slowly piecing things together alongside the FMC.
The world felt immersive, mysterious, and just dangerous enough to keep me fully invested from beginning to end. I also loved that each character brought a completely different energy to the story. The dynamics and interactions kept things interesting, and I found myself constantly changing my mind about who I trusted, who I was suspicious of, and who I was rooting for.
If you enjoy dark fantasy romance with supernatural elements, mystery, and a story that keeps you curious until the very last page, I definitely recommend giving Divine Sin: The Dark Awakening a read!
Now excuse me while I impatiently wait for the next book because I need MORE. 🖤✨
⚠️Be sure to check the TRIGGER WARNINGS⚠️
ARC Disclosure: I received an Advance Reader Copy (or Advance Review Copy) of this book, and I am leaving this review voluntarily. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
First off this is not my usual type of book I usually go for lighter romance/rom com type books but I have been pushing my boundaries and trying new things in the reading world and I love to help support indie authors and this accomplished both!
As Darcelle learns she is the princess of the underworld, feels her new powers blossom within her and attempts to learn how to trust her guides? Husbands to be? against her better judgement since she had been told her whole mortal life you cant' trust a demon but now she's in a whole world full of them... and where is her father to help her? He has a lot of explaining to do when she sees him.
This book is the first of the series (which should be read in order) and has beautiful world building and getting to know you moments as we learn Darcelle's new normal right along with her and her handsome guys. I appreciated learning more about the different layers and rulers of the underworld and my first name popped up as a queen in one of the circles (which I loved coming from the kid that never found their name on any key chain/or any other item growing up).
We learn more about Darcelle's past as the guys do and from this see why she would be more guarded of her heart and emotions.
I am so glad I went out of my comfort zone and grabbed this one there were some slower moments and this is a super slow burn but I really loved learning more about everyone in this world and the way it ended... I need the next book right now!
First of all...this book was downright awesome and different in all the best ways possible. No spoilers here, so let’s talk tropes and vibes instead. This is demon romance straight from hell 😉.
I was drawn in immediatley and could not put this down.
The FMC dies and is brought back…just not to her mortal life. Instead, she finds herself surrounded by four demons tasked with guiding her—and a devil who clearly has plans for her.
Darcelle is bold, fierce, impulsive, and exactly the kind of FMC I love reading about. And the four demons? Let’s just say…I’m obsessed. They are absolute fire.
Never in my life did I think I’d be sitting here wishing I could be caught between four demons at an academy for hell…but here we are.
The dream walking was incredible, the circles of hell were fascinating, and every character felt so distinct and well developed that I became completely attached. The world-building was addictive.
And THAT ENDING?? Criminal. I need book two immediately. I just know there is so many things going on that we just haven't been told yet and I cannot wait to find out!
A big thank you to the Author for allowing me this ARC.
I’ll be honest—I started reading this book because a good friend of mine made a TikTok about it. I have a bad habit of jumping into books based solely on other people’s recommendations without even reading the overview. (It hasn’t steered me wrong yet!) It took me a little while to get into the story and figure out what was going on, but once I did, I was hooked. I found myself reading it every chance I got. Now I’m genuinely invested. I need the second book yesterday. The ending had me saying, “What the HELL?” I told my husband I had no words—I was completely shocked. I wanted to say “do better,” but honestly, as a writer you want to keep your audience engaged. And guess what, Mysti Graves: I am engaged, and I NEED to know what happens next.
*obsessive MMCs. *forced proximity * touch her and ☠️. *demon romance *dream play. *slow burn choas
Darcelle, a half demon princess is thrown into hell after being murdered. She now has to deal with her new life and with the help of her 4 escorts must learn everything about the circles of hell and this power deep inside her. The charecters are amazing and Mysti makes you connect with each one on some level. I was completely hooked from the beginning and read this in one sitting. I cannot wait for book 2 because I am not ok after that ending!!!!
This is such a great dark fantasy. I loved all these characters. What a unique plot and interesting magic system. The fmc is witty and I’m gonna be honest she’s definitely gonna be a bad ass. This story is about demons and sins. The circles of hell were absolutely the coolest idea. This does end on a cliff hanger but no regrets. Loved this!!!!! Definitely recommend. It’s not super spicy, a couple scenes but this is more about the plot and I was entertained the whole dang time! I’m obsessed.
This is the first book I've read from this author, but I fell in love! Each MMC has their own trope with the FMC Z is enemies to lovers Ank is grumpy/grumpy Haruki is calm/chaotic And Karv (my favorite) is temptaion/slow burn Then that freaking ending... I was so wrapped up in the book that I didn't even SEE the ending until I walked off the cliff! Then what does Mysti do? Drops the whole dang cliff on top of me!!!! 😭
I AM NOT OKAY! When I say run and get this book as fast as you can, I mean it! Whew! Mysti totally outdid herself with this book! The plot - chef's kiss! The characters - perfection! The world building - so amazing! Spice - slow and agonizing but oh so worth it! Humor - 100%
Very well written and I'm completely in love! I NEED book 2 NOW!!
HOLY CLIFFHANGER!! Pun intended! I could NOT put this book down, I had to force myself to do i could get sleep. This story completely hypnotized me and I NEED MORE!
Upon death and arrival to Hell, FMC Darcelle learns she is the daughter of Lucifer and has 1 year to choose a demon to bond and rule with.
I loved the hell world building and seeing how each of the 9 circles of Hell were different based on their sin. I loved all the different demons and seeing what powers they held mastery of. And of course, I love a group of hot demons pining for the affection of Darcelle.
If you like obsessesive MMCs (x4), slow burn chaos, and an FMC who isn't taking anyone's crap, I think you'll enjoy this one.
