She came to Alaska to escape from the hurt. He came back to the place that took the most.
When I found out my ex was cheating on me with my best friend, I lost my baby, my marriage, and my best friend in one swoop. Months later, I packed up the broken pieces of my life and took a job at Heartfire Falls Resort in Alaska.
When Lincoln Silver walks into my office, I take in his tall, dark-haired, blue-eyed presence and tell my pulse to chill out. The Silver family owns the resort, so technically I work for Lincoln. Minor detail.
Lincoln left this place years ago after a wildfire took part of his heart. He came home because he couldn't stay away forever. He's a firefighter now, spending his life protecting everyone else from the very thing that nearly broke him.
We keep bumping into each other in the dark hours when we can’t sleep. Both of us pretend we're getting water. I'm still receiving apology texts from my ex-bestie. When Lincoln discovers me crying after reading one, he protects me. From texts. He’s that kind of man.
I came here to Alaska for a fresh start. I wasn't expecting him. I wasn't expecting to want anything from anyone again. I definitely wasn't expecting to find someone whose nights feel like mine.
A steamy he-falls-first, slow-burn, hurt/comfort small town Alaska romance about a woman rebuilding herself after betrayal, a man dealing with grief and loss, and the kind of love that arrives in the middle of the night. A full-length standalone romance
USA Today bestselling author J. H. Croix writes emotionally charged, steamy small town Alaska romance featuring protective firefighter and first responder heroes with big hearts and smart, strong heroines. Best known for her interconnected series set in Willow Brook, Alaska, Croix creates immersive fictional communities where the town itself becomes a character and found family is at the heart of every love story.
Believe in Us by J H Croix is a marvelous book part, of the Heartfire Falls series. Lincoln is still reeling from his sister’s death and his inability to save her. He had run away for years but was now home. He still had nightmares...PTSD, but he was enjoying his life. Chloe was in Alaska with her father. It was on his bucket list. When she went through a bad breakup, there was really no reason not to come with him. He lived in town and she lived at Heartfire Falls. Everyone loved her. She was the personification of organized and she had the office and reservations desk humming. Everyone knew Lincoln liked her and good knew she liked him, but it was kind of a start/stop romance until they both gave in and went for it. These are real people with real problems and
Lincoln, like all his brothers, is tall, strong, and handsome. He is an outdoorsman and spends his time leading otudoor tours on his family’s property: cross-country skiing, rock climbing, back-country skiing, as well as fishing and hiking and more. Chloe was lacking in confidence and could not imagine someone as awesome as Lincoln could even notice her. She wasn’t ready for a relationship, and as it turns out, neither was he. But, as they got to know one another better, mostly from exposure, it turns out they were perfect for one another. This is a fabulous novel with protangonists that everyone will love. As always, they have real world problems, interesting personalities, and make a fabulous couple. The adjacent characters are mostly people from other books and it is good to catch up with them. The plot is good, the timing excellent. I liked this book!
I was invited to read Believe in Us by the author. All thoughts and opinions are mine. #JHCroix #BelieveInUs
Lincoln and Chole work at his family’s resort in Alaska. They have known each other for about a year when they finally have a moment of kiss me and the sparks fly for them from there on out. While it takes a while for them to figure it out…..a couple stolen kisses before that moment. Once they discovered it, they kind of (so they thought) kept it hush hush from his family but they all knew even without being told. They both are dealing with some emotional trauma from their pasts, and they seem to be each helping the other one out. Their bond grows very quickly and he announces that he loves her to his family and it’s over. They are all super supportive and are so glad because they love her and her dad lol. They have a very quick-moving relationship and it seems almost too perfect. They have their moments where a small bump happens but no third-act breakup or anything like that. At most, you see them working through their past trauma and a late-night walk turns into a search and rescue mission. I did enjoy their story, I just felt like it wasn’t as good as the other books I’ve read by this author only because it was short and so quick. I wish we got more of their story…. And not just over a few months. I think there was so much more of their relationship that we could have gotten maybe a few outings with her dad, or her spending more time with Maggie Lincoln’s mom. Most of this book was either them sleeping someone getting up in the middle of the night, her office working or his brothers snowshoeing or doing some other winter sport.
I absolutely loved coming back to this world and seeing all the previous characters again! I loved the storyline and, of course, the Alaska setting. Lincoln and Chloe were both so lovable, and their first interaction was honestly so adorable.
They both had their own emotional baggage, and I really loved seeing how they worked through it and slowly became each other’s support system. Watching them find comfort in each other while healing from their past was so beautiful.
And the Silver family!! I loved how supportive they were of both Chloe and Lincoln. Their family dynamic made everything even better, and I just love how they always show up for each other. Such a lovely read! Excited to read the next one!
Thank you Wildfire Marketing Solutions and J.H. Croix for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.
What an intense, exciting and full of unexpected drama throughout this story. Lincoln and Chloe each have their own past demons to work through. They find themselves attracted to each other, so much strength and happiness in their journey toward each other's lives are what's to come. The hurdles they are working together on, makes it more difficult, yet will be worth it in the end. Beautiful story.
🏔️ Two Wounded Hearts, Sleepless Nights, and a Love Worth Believing In ❤️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 5 Stars
There's just something about returning to Heartfire Falls that makes me want to pack my bags and head straight to Alaska! 🏔️❤️ Believe In Us by J.H. Croix was such a beautiful, emotional addition to the Heartfire Falls series, and Lincoln and Chloe completely stole my heart. This story had everything I love about small-town romance, including a brooding, protective firefighter, a heroine starting over, a wonderful found family, and two people who slowly discover that opening their hearts again might be worth the risk.
Chloe Malders has been through more heartbreak than anyone deserves. After discovering that her boyfriend had been cheating with her best friend, she decides it's time for a fresh start. Alaska has always been on her father's bucket list, so moving to Willow Brook with him gives her the perfect opportunity to leave the painful memories behind and begin rebuilding her life. She finds a job at Heartfire Falls Resort, where her organizational skills quickly make her an important part of the team. I loved that Chloe was so capable and hardworking, even when her confidence in herself had been completely shaken. She could manage a busy resort office without missing a beat, but trusting her own heart again? That was an entirely different story.
And then there's Lincoln Silver. Oh, this man! ❤️ He's tall, rugged, protective, and a former hotshot firefighter who has returned home to help with his family's resort. But beneath that strong exterior is a man still carrying an incredible amount of grief and guilt over the death of his sister, Bree, in a devastating fire years earlier. Even though his family has never blamed him, Lincoln has spent years blaming himself for not being able to save her. His nightmares and fear of losing someone else have made him hesitant to let anyone get too close, and my heart broke for the pain he'd been carrying for so long.
What I loved about Lincoln was that he was so much more than the typical brooding, protective hero. Yes, he had that wonderful who hurt you? energy, and yes, he was always ready to step in when Chloe needed him, but he was also someone who needed to learn how to accept help himself. I appreciated how J.H. Croix explored his grief and the lasting effects of trauma without making his healing seem simple. The positive portrayal of therapy and the encouragement he received from his family were especially meaningful. Sometimes even the strongest person needs someone to remind them they don't have to carry everything alone.
The connection between Lincoln and Chloe was one of my favorite parts of the story. They've been attracted to each other for quite some time, but both have their reasons for keeping their distance. Chloe is terrified of trusting someone again after everything she's experienced, while Lincoln is afraid of loving someone he might lose. I loved how their sleepless nights brought them together, giving them opportunities to talk, share pieces of their past, and slowly become comfortable with one another. Those quiet moments felt so intimate, and I enjoyed watching their friendship and attraction grow into something neither of them could ignore.
And can we talk about the Silver family for a minute? 😂❤️ I absolutely adore them! The brothers teasing Lincoln because they can clearly see how he feels about Chloe added some much-needed humor to an emotional storyline. I loved that everyone seemed to know what was happening between these two long before they were ready to admit it themselves! But what really made me love this family was how supportive they were. They welcomed Chloe and her father with open arms, cared about Lincoln's emotional well-being, and never hesitated to show up for one another. That sense of family and belonging is one of the reasons I enjoy returning to this series so much.
I also have to mention the setting because J.H. Croix makes Alaska sound absolutely beautiful! Between the snowy mountains, outdoor adventures, cozy resort atmosphere, and close-knit community of Willow Brook, I could practically picture myself there. And that moose causing trouble outside Chloe's office window? Such a fun little moment! 🫎 I loved those touches of humor and everyday life mixed in with the more emotional parts of the story. They made Heartfire Falls feel like a real place filled with people I genuinely enjoy spending time with.
What made Lincoln and Chloe's romance especially meaningful was that neither of them expected the other person to magically fix everything. They both had painful experiences to work through, and falling in love didn't suddenly make those feelings disappear. Chloe needed to rebuild her confidence and learn that someone else's betrayal didn't determine her worth. Lincoln needed to begin forgiving himself for something his family had never blamed him for. I loved how they supported each other, respected each other's struggles, and slowly realized that they didn't have to face everything alone. And once they finally gave in to that attraction? Oh, the chemistry was definitely there! ❤️🔥
Five stars from me! Believe In Us was a heartfelt, emotional, and beautifully written romance about grief, betrayal, healing, and finding the courage to trust love again. Lincoln's protective nature and quiet vulnerability completely won me over, while Chloe's strength and determination to build a new life made me root for her from the beginning. I loved their growing connection, the warmth of the Silver family, and the way this story balanced some genuinely heartbreaking moments with humor, romance, and hope.
J.H. Croix has created such a wonderful little world in Heartfire Falls, and every time I return, I fall a little more in love with this family. Lincoln and Chloe reminded me that our past experiences may shape us, but they don't have to decide what our future looks like. Sometimes the hardest part of finding happiness again is simply allowing ourselves to believe we deserve it. 🥹❤️
Thank you to J.H. Croix and Wildfire Marketing for the gifted advanced reader copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Believe me when I say you are going to want to add Believe in Us, the fourth book in J.H. Croix’s Heartfire Falls series, to your TBR! I’ve loved my time in Willow Brook, Alaska, but this one hit me right in the feels. For me, this is the most emotional story in the series so far, and I wasn’t quite prepared for just how much these two guarded hearts would get to me.
There is something so special about this small Alaskan town, where family, friendship and community are at the heart of everything. It’s the perfect setting for a firefighter romance, but beneath that close-knit feel are two people carrying past hurts that have shaped the way they see love.
Beyond the Synopsis…
Lincoln Silver is a guarded firefighter who works at the family’s Silver resort, and love is the last thing on his mind. The devastating fire from years ago still haunts him and his family, leaving behind wounds that time hasn’t simply healed. Then there’s Chloe, the resort’s office manager, who moved to Willow Brook with her dad. But starting over isn’t as easy as it sounds when betrayal has left its own mark on her heart.
Neither is looking for love, and both have every reason to keep their walls firmly in place. But sometimes the heart has other ideas! As their connection grows, so does a chemistry that becomes harder and harder to ignore. It might be a slow burn, but those little sparks are enough to keep you turning the pages.
What I loved most was the emotion woven through their journey. This isn’t just about two people finding each other; it’s about facing the past, learning to trust again and discovering that opening your heart doesn’t have to mean losing yourself. J.H. Croix brings the heartfelt moments, the small-town charm and just the right amount of sizzle to make this such a moving read.
Read it for… ❤️🔥 A guarded firefighter and a heroine with a broken trust 🔥 Small-town Alaska charm and resort life 💔 Heartbreaking pasts and emotional healing 💕 A slow-building connection with sizzling sparks 🏡 The kind of community that makes you wish Willow Brook was real
WOB65 Verdict
J.H. Croix has delivered a beautiful, emotional small-town firefighter romance that had me feeling all the feels. Lincoln and Chloe’s story is full of heart, healing and that delicious chemistry that makes you root for two people to find their way to each other. If you love your romances with a little heartbreak, a lot of heart and a reminder that love can find you even when you’re not looking, then Believe in Us deserves a place on your bookshelf. ❤️
I was sooooooo excited at the prospect of being back in Willow Brook that I just shut off from reality for a day and disappeared somewhere in Alaska 🫢😉
Chloe’s ex cheated on her with her best friend so with all the heartache and betrayal she needs a fresh start and heads to Willow Brook to work at Heartfire Falls Resort which is owned as you by the Silver family , those boys are might fine 😉also get dad goes with her and he’s always wanted to be in Alaska and now he’s retired , he’s living his dream and together they’re making memories 😉
The Silver family took a hard knock at the loss of their daughter and sister but Lincoln especially struggled because he blames himself for not being able to save her 💔 his demons are chasing him but he’s working hard and putting them to rest and now that he’s back home he’s hit the perfect support system 🤗
Chloe’s phone goes mad and Lincoln sees the distress it causes her so he jumps in and answers as her “boyfriend “ and soon enough our two insomniacs are sharing stories and feelings over cups of hot chocolate everyone else can see what’s unfolding before they can and Maggie is trying to play matchmaker , you’ve got to live the dynamics of this family and its extended members 🥰
Chloe has insecurity and I can’t say I blame her but at some time she needs to let go and I’m so grateful Lincoln was her lucky charm and when she shared her story with Lincoln my heart just broke all over for all that she’d been through 💔
The Silver boys aren’t just brothers they’re best friends and they’re always teasing one another but they’re also supportive of another and as a whole the family just makes you feel like you’re a part of it , they’re amazing people 🥰🤗
What I appreciated was that this dealt with loss , heartache , grief and trauma , so very real and relatable and more often than not we want to carry the burden on our own but there’s no shame in reaching out and asking for help , letting go of hurt and insecurities and believing in yourself and giving life and love a second chance 🥰🤗
After wishing everyone a fond farewell i was promised another visit with my favourite people from my favourite place , either catching up at the Firewood Cafe or around the table having a meal that Tommy has made and they’ll be filling me in on what is happening with Grady 😉
In this fourth installment of the Heartfire Falls series, we get up close and personal with Lincoln and Chloe. They’re two people with a ton of emotional baggage between them, but they seem to be just right for each other.
Lincoln is a handsome Silver brother who love has been picking off one by one. He’s the most guarded of the bunch because he carries the blame for losing his sister in a fire at the resort years ago. Although his family has never blamed him in fact, he was the one who went back for her, it’s easier said than done when it comes to convincing him it wasn’t his fault. He’s not looking for love, even though a few of his brothers are happier than he’s ever seen them. Still, he thinks a lot about Chloe, the office manager at the resort his family owns.
Chloe moved to Willowbrook with her father so he could retire and spend his time fishing. Her mother passed away years ago, so it’s been just Chloe and her dad, traveling from one military base to another before finally settling down. At first, I was annoyed that Chloe was letting a falling-out with her high school best friend affect her so much at almost thirty. However, when she got into the details of her past, I backed off. Like Lincoln, Chloe lives with hurt and regret every day, and now it’s time to see if they’ve found the right person to help them move past it.
There are a lot of “in their head” conversations in this story, with plenty of the will they or won’t they? back-and-forth, which I wasn’t a huge fan of. I get that they’re both skittish, but the dancing around their feelings and hesitating to make a move dragged on a bit. That said, I was glad the Silver family was right there to add the humor that a heavy storyline like this needed. The book is well-written and a great addition to the series. While we’re on this emotional roller coaster with Lincoln and Chloe, we’re also kept up to speed with the other brothers, and J.H. Croix sets up brother Grady’s book perfectly. If Lincoln was an enigma, I don’t know what to call Grady!
This story is so amazing! It’s a fabulous read! It’s a beautiful relationship. You will enjoy all the characters in this story. They are so likable and lovable and one big happy family. They have great personalities and they are good people who care about each other as well as family, guests, the lodge and the town. The characters make the story come to life and I guarantee you will be taken with them. They always enjoy spending time together. They see beauty in the Alaska landscape and nature. These are things that are important to them. Lincoln has never put much thought into women - never wanting to get into a relationship with one. But he is liking Chloe and is drawn to her. He has to touch base with her every day. He likes her spunk, her sass and her attitude- and she calls him on his crap like nobody else. “She had this sort of haphazard vibe to her, like she was spinning through life too busy to worry much about how she looked. And yet, somehow, she managed to be cute and sexy in a way that grabbed onto me and did not let go.” When Chloe looks at Lincoln she sees the most handsome, tender, caring, and loving man. “Her belly did a little swoop and shimmy.” They definitely have a special relationship. They have magic. Lincoln and Chloe complement each other. They feel the attraction, the heat and the passion. Living down the hall from each other has benefits! It’s a beautiful awakening of sweet, tender, compassionate love. The story is filled with emotions - loss, rebuilding, caring, passion, playfulness, adventure, romance, surprises, tumbles and love. Love for the town and for the beauty of Alaska, for friends, for family, for each other and for the ultimate -love, always forever love. It’s a beautiful, warm, tenderhearted read. A story that I think you will enjoy!.

Lincoln carries the nightmare of the fire at his family’s resort where he didn’t save his sister in time. He had left Heartfire Falls to avoid the pain and his feelings of not getting to his sister quick enough but has now returned back home. Chloe and he dad moved to Alaska as it was a dream of his and it helped her escape her pain with the loss of a stillborn while finding out her boyfriend and her best friend were cheating for years. Starting over in Alaska and with her job at the Inn, she is starting to heal. She is in love with the area, her job, and her new friends. She is gun shy with relationships as well as Lincoln which makes this a slow burn romance. He is protective but so afraid to lose someone he loves and Chloe feels like she missed the signs of betrayal and doesn’t know if she can trust herself again. As they are pulled together, with family and friends help, they finally admit their feelings for each other. This story was great with dealing with real life issues, feelings of being inadequate, the loss of life, and healing. I loved that it showed speaking with a therapist to work with healing in a positive light and the healing love of family and friends. This series has just pulled on my heartstrings. This author writes strong characters where you feel like you know them and can relate to their lives. Her descriptions of Alaska make you feel like you are there and seeing the same beauty that the characters talk about. There is teasing and laughter mixed in with the serious side of life which makes for a great story.

In this installment of the Heartfire Falls Series we get Lincoln and Chloe's story. This one has an extra level of emotion to it as both characters are working through their baggage from the past. But it seems pretty quickly that they are each others best support system.
Chloe moved to Alaska with her father so he could retire. She had just lost her long time boyfriend and her best friend in one fowl swoop. While dealing with that she miscarried her baby. So really what was left for her to stay where she was. She decided this would be a new start for herself. She absolutely loves her new job at Heartfire Falls Resort. And the family that owns it has made her feel like she is family.
No long after the fire that took so much from the Silvers, Lincoln decided he needed to leave for a while. Sure he came back once in a while for visits and always kept in touch but the hurts and guilt he carried from that horrible night were too much. He is finally in a place where being home and working with the others outweighs the need to be away. Is it going to be easy, hell no but he is willing to put the work in.
Lincoln and Chloe have a fast attraction but in the beginning both work hard to keep it at bay. Until one sleepless night finds them both up roaming the halls. Once that line is crossed it is hard to go back. But neither of them were planning on relationships. Will they be able to navigate the past and be what each other needs. Could the best thing about Lincoln's return home is a wonderful partner to help him move forward?
I can't wait to see what she has in store for Grady.

When her life unraveled around her Chloe Malders knew she needed to get away and made the decision to escape to Alaska. She knew she'd have a safe place to heal and a job to lose herself in when she needed a break from her reality. What she didn't expect to find there was Lincoln Silver...
Believe in Us is a story of heartbreak, loss, healing, rediscovery, and finding the courage to give love a second chance. Chloe and Lincoln meet when she starts working at his families resort, and quickly find that they have a lot in common. They see the remnants of loss in one another's eyes, see the pain they still carry like a shield, but also see one another as the one person in the world that could possibly understand how they feel. It's their pasts hurts that bond them, but it's also those hurts that make them question rather they belong with one another. Could they really put themselves out there again, expose themselves to the possibilities of being hurt again? Or could it be the perfect remedy for their pasts?
Oh how I loved this story, it may have broke my heart, but with time, a few tears and many page swipes it managed to heal it better than it found it. This was such heartstring tugging read. One that really took it's toll on my emotions, but I promise you it is all worth it in the end, when those last few pages find you! Highly recommend you take a chance on this one, you will love these two and the story that they have to tell!
I requested an advanced copy of this title from the publisher and I am voluntarily leaving my honest and unbiased opinion.
Believe In Us brings us back to Alaska, specifically to Heartfire Falls Resort and the Silver family. Reading this book has me wanting to visit Alaska, which surprises me because I hate the cold. Between the pages, we find a small-town romance story filled with healing, heartache, loss and trusting your heart to know that the love it feels is real. From the first chapter, I was intrigued by Chloe and Lincoln. They have a lot of baggage but for different reasons. He is still haunted by the death of his sister, for which he feels responsible, and she is trying to forget about being betrayed by her best friend and boyfriend. Living in Alaska was her father's dream and she followed. From her first day at the Heartfire Falls Resort, which Lincoln's family own, she has been on his mind. Talk about falling first but is afraid to love someone, to give his heart to someone. Then we have Chloe, who has trust issues and is afraid to open her heart to love again. The more time they spend together, the more they realize they have a lot in common, trying to love other people. To see them open up about their past and what haunted them was heartwarming. The banter between Lincoln and his brothers was terrific; they knew how to push his buttons. They saw his feelings towards Chloe all over his face and did they tease him. What I loved was how Lincoln opened his heart to love but he also was patient with Chloe and waited for her heart to catch up to his. He did little things to show her he was hers and how he felt. They were perfect for one another.
Alaska was always on Chloe’s father’s bucket list so when her life implodes because of a massive betrayal there is nothing stopping her from moving to Alaska with him. She gets a job at the Heartfire Inn and absolutely loves it. The Inn is owned by the Silver family and she is soon welcomed by the whole Silver family. Lincoln Silver has baggage from the fire that burned down the Inn many years ago. He tried to save his sister and carries a lot of guilt because he wasn’t able to save her. The memories were too painful and he left Heartfire Falls to become a hotshot fire fighter. He has finally come back to the family and his mother is very happy to have him back. He and Chloe are attracted right from the beginning, but they both have heavy baggage and resist the attraction. Chloe doesn’t trust herself anymore. She keeps going over and over her last relationship trying to see what signs she missed. As time goes by, the attraction between Chloe and Lincoln becomes stronger and stronger. Eventually they give into their feelings but it’s not an instant fix. They have to deal with Lincoln’s nightmares and Chloe’s insecurities before they can truly be together. Delaney is a therapist in town and she helps Lincoln deal with his demons so that he and Chloe can be together. Chloe connects with some of the women in town and finds a lot of acceptance and understanding from them. This is a heartfelt, emotional story and I was very happy that Lincoln and Chloe were able to overcome their pasts to be together. I received an ARC from Booksprout and this is my honest review.
When Chloe Malders discovered her ex-boyfriend had been cheating on her with her best friend, she headed for Alaska where her father lived. She got a job in Willow Brook at the Heartfire Falls Resort to start over. Chloe was currently on the phone at the Resort taking information for a reservation she was typing into the computer when a moose outside her window distracted her with its pawing and knocking things over! She yelled, "You stupid moose!" and the customer on the phone was obviously startled until she explained about the moose. Then the woman couldn't wait to get there and see the moose for herself. Chloe felt eyes on her and saw Lincoln Silver, one of her bosses and an owner of the resort, as well as her secret crush, standing in the doorway. They both have a party to go to for Adele and Cole and are about to be late. Lincoln offers to drive her there since she gets nervous driving in snow. He threw two snowballs to chase the moose away for her and went upstairs to shower.
Lincoln is a firefighter with his own grief to manage over the loss of his sister Bree he wasn't able to save in a fire. It may be part of what has made him very reliable and protective now. Both he and Chloe tended to wander the halls in the late hours when they aren't able to sleep, and he's there for her when the pain of her ex's betrayal finally overwhelms her. As their trust builds, are they ready to risk a relationship? Or is it still too soon to be thinking like that?
Chloe moved with her father to Willow Brook, Alaska, as it was always his dream and he was her only family left. Her job at Heartfire Falls Resort introduces her to the Silver family, and in particular, Lincoln. Lincoln used to be a Hotshot Firefighter but, after the loss of his dad and sister, is back home helping with the family resort. There's a spark between Chloe and Lincoln, but both are working through things from their past. That is, until they finally give in. But what happens when the holiday season is upon them, and Lincoln starts to have more nightmares about his past issues?
Chloe and Lincoln get their happy ending in this standalone book in a series.
These two and their dancing around one another! I would have loved to have seen more of how awkward it was between them between their first couple of kisses and them fully getting together, but I also love the time skips to get to their actual relationship and them being together. I do love how supportive Lincoln's family was about what he went through, and openly they talked about therapy and encouraged it. It would be interesting to know how long Lincoln continued to regularly see the therapist in town, or if he just scheduled as needed after he figured out his triggers and what seasons may be worse for him.
I received an advance review copy from the author, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I voluntarily reviewed this after receiving a complimentary copy of this book.
Chloe moves to Alaska with her dad for a fresh start after going through a heartbreaking loss and a major betrayal. She finds a job she loves working in the resort office, but nights are still hard because she can't sleep.
Lincoln's family owns the resort, and he's a firefighter who mostly keeps to himself after losing his sister in a fire. Chloe and Lincoln know of each other from seeing each other around, but they don't really know one another until two insomniacs strike up a friendship that slowly turns into something more.
I really loved the slow-burn feel of this one. Watching their friendship grow felt natural, and the chemistry between them was absolutely smoking hot. Their late-night conversations and growing connection had me completely invested.
One of my favorite things about Lincoln was how protective he was of Chloe. He was always there when she needed someone in her corner, and I loved the way he stepped in when her past threatened to hurt her all over again.
Both Chloe and Lincoln are carrying a lot of grief and pain, so I couldn't help but root for them. The big question is whether they'll be able to let go of the hurt they've been holding onto and finally give themselves a chance at the future they deserve.

After discovering her ex was cheating with her best friend, Chloe feels her whole world falls apart when she loses her baby and realizes her ex is also the father of the baby her best is carrying. Knowing her father has wanted to retire to Alaska, Chloe decides to move to Alaska with her father. Chloe finds a job she absolutely loves at Heartfire Falls Resort. Lincoln Silver is a hot shot firefighter who carries the grief and guilt of not being able to save his sister from a fire that ravaged the family's property. In his grief and guilt, Lincoln moved away and would only return for short visits. Lincoln is home to stay and help lead group outings. Lincoln and Chloe are attracted to each other but deny their feelings for months after sharing a kiss. What happens when Lincoln and Chloe finally take their attraction to the next level? What will Lincoln do to protect Chloe from someone from her past who continues to reach out to her? Can Lincoln and Chloe overcome their baggage and find their happily ever after together? I loved Believe In Us by J.H. Croix! Lincoln and Chloe are a great couple who have amazing chemistry. I love the slow burn between Lincoln and Chloe that builds into an inferno. I absolutely love the Silver family and the banter between the family members. I would highly recommend getting Believe In Us and the other books in the Heartfire Falls Series by J.H. Croix. Lincoln and Chloe are next up in a small-town Alaskan story where the Silver boys find their one true loves.
This was a quick, emotion-packed read; you feel it all. It's great when a couple finds love when neither is looking, something you fall into, yet it's hard, fast, and very real.
The characters are amazing; they are always so supportive and offer laughs when needed. The Silver family has so much love; those they choose to take into their hearts are treated like family.
Chloe and Lincoln made a beautiful couple; their chemistry was palpable. What they do have in common is trauma. This couple goes through a lot emotionally; sometimes together, but when not, they're still there waiting and supporting in the wings. As they work through their past and present, you see them grow and put some hurts to rest. What happened to both Chloe and Lincoln is heartbreaking, and some intense moments will make you want to cry.
What we really enjoyed about this story is that it felt realistic, as some of us may have been in situations similar to the main characters.
This heartfelt read was enjoyable; it is about family and wonderful friendships, building trust, finding one's love, and learning coping mechanisms to deal with one's trauma. It's about moving on from one's fears and accepting that you are worthy of love and your own happily ever after.
This is a fantastic read and probably the most heartfelt and angsty of this series.

Now they were here and she's working at Heartfire Falls Resort, as manager, receptionist and general jill of all trades! She loves it and has settled in well, Maggie, her boss, and mother of several children is a delight to work for, she's a bit wary of Lincoln, one of the sons, as she has a huge crush on him, but she's had such a bad experience in the past that she's very careful to hide it. Lincoln has his own devils, the wildfire that took their first home also took his sister, he feels guilty because he couldn't save her, and he was a firefighter, it never leaves him. He's very attracted to Chloe too but thinks that he shouldn't pursue it as he still has nightmares. She starts joining in with the events at the resort, and thorougly enjoys herself. Heart Wrenching Trauma and Vulnerability Chloe Malders moved to Alaska with her father to escape the reminders of trauma and betrayal by two of the people that mattered most to her. She is not looking for another relationship, but Lincoln Silver has her pulse rioting with her chest and heat is rolling through her swift and fiery. He emanates heat and strength and makes her hormones get all noisy. This is genuinely a problem. To Lincoln, Chloe is everything that is good. She is sweet and beautiful, sexy and sensual. He would do anything for her. The events of his life have convinced him that caring about someone too much is not worth it though. While Chloe is carrying around the insecurity of not being worthy of love. This is a heartwarming he falls first small town romance loaded with chemistry and steam. These two both feel they are damaged goods and have a fear of falling in love again. Their journey to emotional healing is a sweet read. Loved being back at Heartfire Falls with the Silver Family and all the other characters in Willow Brook. Cannot wait for Grady Silver and Eden Pottinger’s story next. Wow, its always the quiet, broody ones that sneak up & steal your heart right out of your chest! That was Lincoln from the very beginning! He has a past that breaks your soul, as he was the one to go back into the fire to try & save his pregnant sister. He is haunted by that fact he couldn't do that & after 10yrs he's finally coming home to Heartfire Falls again. The first time he lays eyes on Chloe, he knows that he is done for, but does his best to stay away. Chloe's past has driven her away from NC to the beautiful vastness of Alaska with her dad, who has always wanted to go there. She didn't realize she would love it so much & it would feel so much like home. She also wasn't expecting Lincoln Silver to take her breath away! They do their best to avoid the feeling that both are feeling, but when something is truly inevitable, can you deny it? Lincoln needs to figure out his anxiety, PTSD from the fire & the nightmares that come back with a vengeance. Chloe needs to decide if she will continue to allow her past to dictate her future or if she will be able to give over her trust to Lincoln. This book was spicy, sexy, sweet, a bit on the angsty side & so filled with exciting characters. Enjoy!
Chloe moved to Willow Brook, Alaska with her father, he's living out his bucket list and she's starting over after learning her best friend and her boyfriend were cheating behind her back for years. Both women got pregnant about the same time by the same guy buy Chloe lost her baby and her ex's have a baby together. She wasn't expecting him, Lincoln, sexy, panty melting blue eyes and dark hair. Lincoln is working on fighting his demons, he blames himself for not saving his sister fast enough when the fire tore through their resort, his family does not blame him for anything. They then lost their father shortly after the fire. Linc ran from his problems to a different town and became a hotshot firefighter. He finally comes back home to his family that has missed him dearly. He wasn't expecting her, Chloe. He sees her as sunshine to his darkness. Chloe and Lincoln are very attracted to each other, but it takes them a while to act on any feelings or chemistry between them, but when they do it feels right to them not perfect. They both have different types of emotional baggage that they help each other through.

Believe in Us is the fourth book in the series and follows Lincoln and Chloe. I highly recommend reading the other books so you get a full understanding of the family dynamic and the history but this was easy to be read as a standalone. Chloe and Lincoln both have a lot of emotional baggage and over time start to realize that they can lean on the other person for support. Chloe is trying to get her life back after she found out her fiance and best friend had been cheating behind her back. Moving to Alaska for a fresh start, she begins working at a family resort where she meets Lincoln. Lincoln is struggling with losing his sister and being back at the resort. Meeting Chloe seems to stir up feelings that he is not sure he is able to handle. This book was filled with lots of emotional moments. I really enjoyed the storyline and the writing was wonderful. Chloe and Lincoln had serious chemistry that I could feel coming off of the pages and I just wanted them to get out of their own way to realize that they deserved happily ever after and it was standing right in front of them. I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in this series and I'm definitely going back to start reading from the beginning.
This book illustrates the strength of spirit, resilience and the healing powers of love. Lincoln and Chloe are two broken souls who Fate has decided belong together. They have experienced great loss, trauma and grief, which have lead them to guard their hearts and avoid relationships. Lincoln’s family owns the resort where Chloe is working as a receptionist, office manager. He has returned home after a years long absence and is working part time at the resort and full time as a firefighter.
Both are haunted by the past and make a connection late at night when neither can sleep. Gradually they open up to each other, allowing the other to see the pain they carry. Understanding and commiserating with each other soon inspires other feelings that are unexpected and a tad scary for them. Fears and doubts make them hesitate and even retreat before they decide to take a chance on each other and love.
The bonds and connections among his family are evident, and they are happy to welcome Chloe into their clan. They are supportive as Lincoln and Chloe connect, begin to heal and fall in love. It was wonderful to read more about the characters from the previous books in this series. This engaging book has my recommendation.
Lincoln has deeper emotional scars than his siblings. He is one who pulled his sister out of the fire and then watched her die. He still blames himself after years of away from home doing hotshot firefighting. Now he finally comes home. He is attracted to their resort’s new employee Chloe at the first sight. He still thinks he is not enough to love anyone in addition to who he already loves. He stays away. Chloe has her own emotional trauma. She was betrayed by her boyfriend and her high school best friend. When her father wanted to move to Alaska, she came with him. She is cheerful on the outside, efficient and kind as an office manager and assistant hired by Lincoln’s mom. Lincoln has nightmares and Chloe has anxiety at night. They are both up at night and walk around. Then it happens. They kiss and have sex. But he is still scared of love and losing someone. She still wonders if she is good enough. This is an emotional story. The love they have for each other supports the struggle they each have from their past. The friends and family and the beautiful Alaska help them through the obstacles.
Believe in Us is Chloe Malders and Lincoln Silver’s emotional and engaging story. It’s book four in the Heartfelt Fire Series and it didn’t take me long to become invested in this couple and their story. This is a beautifully written, emotional roller coaster and I loved it. Lincoln left Heartfelt Falls after a fire at his family resort where he couldn’t save his sister. Living with the nightmare is not easy but being away from his home town is not making life any better so he returns home. Chloe is looking for a place to heal after losing her baby and then finding out her boyfriend was cheating on her with her best friend. Heartfelt Falls, Alaska is calling to her, so she moves with her father in the hope of finding peace. A new job in a new town with new friends has her moving in the right direction and then Lincoln comes into her life. So could these two find healing together, will she ever trust again and will he get over the guilt of surviving. If ever two people needed each other it’s Lincoln and Chloe……. This slow burn touched me on so many levels, this couple and their story pulled on my heartstrings but it also made me smile.
A sweet romance between two people who are a little afraid of the connection they have because of what both MMC‘s went through.
But once this two gave in to the pull they had been fighting more or less they fell hard. Their love story is cute clean and sexy without any unnecessary drama and that’s what I loved about the book. I liked the hot scenes they were really good and skilled written. The chemistry was definitely there with this two.
I am personally not a fan of time jumping and at the beginning I couldn’t get into the story right away because I missed the connection and chemistry between them. There was only their inner thoughts but no really them talking or interacting. But thankfully the author made up after this little time jumps and did not dragged out the story. After that the write got fluent and i could follow their love story and could get not enough. The family dynamic is great I love how they support each other.
Can’t wait for the next book.

Lincoln Silver, more than his brothers and mother still suffers debilitating nightmares from the loss of their home and his sister years prior. He left after the fire, and only recently returned to Heartfire Falls and reunited with the rest of his family.
Chloe Malders is still reeling from an insideous betrayal losing nearly everyone she cared about. She relocates to Alaska with her father and starts to rebuild her life.
"But that was the thing about loss. You learned to live with it, to carry it, and the sharpness of the pain did ease over time."
This story deals with loss and betrayal and how two people can help each other through the difficult times.
Lincoln and Chloe are both really likeable characters and family and friendships take centre stage. This is a real feel-good tale of finding happiness after tragedy.
This is a standalone, but characters from previous books make appearances, so the experience is richer if you have read the previous three books of the series.
I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book and am leaving a completely honest review.
