In an incident in a bar a Korean man in his forties addressed a woman in her sixties as ajumma (auntie), she responded by throwing a Soju bottle at his head. The woman landed a 12-month prison sentence because of the man’s subsequent injuries. But, for some, her actions were considered righteous, even a brand of street activism. Why? Because of ajumma’s increasingly unpleasant connotations. At best dismissive, it’s come to be understood as an ageist, misogynistic slur. Unlike the respectful ajumeoni (ma’am) it’s a way of addressing middle-aged women that simultaneously puts them in their place – a lowly one. Ajumma is also a stereotype associated with tight “ajumma” perms and unfashionable, market-stall clothing. Routinely referred to as ajumma, she’s startled to be called anything else, Mrs Shim outwardly fits the bill, one of an army of struggling older women whose physical and emotional labour props up various corners of Korean society. Widowed in appalling circumstances, Mrs Shim’s supported her two children, looks after her elderly neighbour and generally contributes to her local community. Neither praised or acknowledged, she soldiers on.

But, ultimately, it’s a macabre, absurdist comedy deftly combined with searing social critique. Mrs Shim’s an endearing, oddly convincing character – perhaps because she’s based on Kang Yijoung’s own aunt who raised her siblings, funding her family by running a butcher’s shop. But the story unfolds from a range of perspectives, organised like a chain of associations or interconnected short stories with Mrs Shim as the starting point, so that we hear the voices of the many people now surrounding her, from her ruthless, poetry-loving boss onwards. The extensive cast could make this a little bewildering at times, fortunately Kang Yijoung’s adept at quickly establishing character – she’s a prolific, bestselling author whose novel The Murderer’s Shopping Mall was the basis for highly-successful Kdrama A Shop for Killers. The plot involves rival agencies, Mrs Shim’s son, and murders galore – some of which read like wish fulfilment, a means of the relatively-powerless, and overlooked, to finally express their rage and frustration. It’s by no means a flawless novel but once caught up in its rhythms it was an insightful, entertainingly satirical take on contemporary South Korea – although I’d have liked more from Mrs Shim’s perspective. September 14, 2025Jeśli lubicie opowieści o antybohaterkach i podobało Wam się "Masło" Asako Yuzuki, jest spora szansa, że "Mordercza pani Shim" trafi w Wasz gust. Tytuł jednak zwodzi: pięćdziesięcioletnia kobieta zatrudniona w agencji detektywistycznej "Smile" jako „ta od rozwiązywania problemów” jest tylko jedną z wielu twarzy całej historii. Dla Kang postać Shim jest niczym zalążek, a może katalizator, z którego wyrasta gęsta, czarna komedia, trochę absurdalna i niepokojąca. O ludziach, którzy przesuwają granice nie z chłodnej bezwzględności, lecz z biedy, dławiącego systemu i zwykłej chęci przetrwania.
Każdy rozdział to inna perspektywa, wielogłos układający się w mozaikę motywacji i małych racji. Shim przebija przez wszystkie wątki i spina je w całość, ale autorka celowo oddaje głos także innym postaciom — w tym synowi bohaterki, który niepostrzeżenie, idąc jej tropem, trafia do konkurencyjnej agencji "Happy". Na początku dystans i forma "podglądania" zdarzeń utrudniały mi pełne wejście w opowieść; musiałem zrozumieć, po co Kang stosuje ten zabieg. Finał jednak pozostawił mnie z poczuciem satysfakcji: absurd pozostaje na swoim miejscu, komizm też, ale całość skręca ku przypowieści o klasie i niewidzialności — momentami jak w filmie "Parasite".

A character study disguised as a thriller...
This started so strongly that I thought I'd found a hidden gem.
The premise is fantastic: an assassin agency viewed through the lives of the people connected to it. Rather than relying on nonstop suspense, the story explores how ordinary people end up crossing paths with the Smile Agency, weaving together multiple perspectives and backstories. Watching those connections unfold was easily my favorite part.
Unfortunately, the further I read, the more the momentum faded. The middle dragged, and while each new perspective added another piece to the puzzle, I kept waiting for the story to build toward something bigger.
The ending tied everything together neatly, but it never delivered the emotional or narrative payoff I was hoping for. Instead, it felt surprisingly flat, leaving me wishing the book had done more with such an intriguing premise.
If you pick this up expecting a thriller or a murder mystery, you may be disappointed. I ended up enjoying it much more as an interconnected character study with a few clever reveals along the way.

3,5 ⭐️ Kocham to, jak koreańskie thrillery wymykają się schematom. Nie mam tu wielkiego doświadczenia, ale każdy z tych kilku, które przeczytałam, był totalnie zaskakujący w tym, jak zupełnie inną ścieżką została poprowadzona fabuła niż to, do czego mnie przyzwyczaiła literatura zachodnia.
„Mordercza pani Shim” zaskoczyła mnie np. tym, jak mało tu samej pani Shim i jak dużo innych głosów pojawia się w książce. I co to ostatecznie dla fabuły oznacza. Pani Shim jest tu jednocześnie postacią najważniejszą, ale i często bardzo w tle. Wydaje się, że jest przypadkową „ofiarą” swojej sytuacji życiowej, ale z biegiem stron dowiadujemy się, że zostanie płatną mo*derczynią było jej właściwie pisane.
Fabuła jest utkana z wielu głosów i w pewnym momencie można się w tym pogubić, ile historii potrzebujemy, żeby dojść do sedna sprawy, ale dla mnie właśnie to sprawia, że ta książka jest dobra i warta poświęconego jej czasu.

Mrs. Shim is a Killer (2026) is Paige Morris's translation of 심여사는 킬러 (2023) by 강지영 (Kang Jiyoung).
The first chapter of the novel is narrated by an ajumma, the eponymous Mrs Shim, 51 years old, a widow with two teenage children and having lost her job, working in a butcher's shop, she replies to an ad from what proves (or claims) to be a private detective agency - 'Seeking housewives 40 and older to work. 3 mil per month guarantee. 500% confidentiality bonus, Smile.' - one of the few jobs wanted ads after older women.
But when she arrives, her butchering skills prove to be of primary interest and having demonstrated her skills (with a real knife but an imaginary animals) she is signed on as a contract killer:
‘Raise the tip a little more. No, bring your arm up a bit. Yes, yes. That’s right.’
Mr Park seemed entranced. I closed my eyes. In the thick darkness behind my lids, I tore tufts of fur from a huge black beast. Then I peeled back its pink flesh, the pungent odour of blood briefly grazing my nose before vanishing. The blade cut through the meat, pushed it aside, and dug right into the next piece. It was exciting, swinging the knife back and forth to a rhythm and beat. It gave me such strange pleasure to think that there was an audience willing to watch in awe as I did the work I’d always done on my own.
‘That’s enough. You may have a seat.’
My eyes snapped open, and I was back in that unfamiliar office. I returned the knife, now clammy with sweat, to the shopping bag.
“조금 더 칼끝을 올려보세요. 아뇨, 팔을 조금 치켜들어서. 네, 네. 맞습니다.”
칼이 그의 눈을 사로잡았다. 나는 눈을 감았다. 농밀한 어둠 속에서 나는 검게 그은 커다란 짐승의 털을 슥슥 벗겨냈다. 그러자 발그스름한 살이 드러났고 누릿한 피비린내가 코끝에 닿았다, 이내 사라졌다. 칼날이 고기를 자르고 밀어내고 또다시 새로운 고기 틈으로 파고들었다. 박자와 장단을 넣어 칼날을 휘두르다 보니 제법 신이 났다. 늘 혼자 해온 일에 감탄할 준비가 되어 있는 관객이 있다고 생각하자 묘한 쾌감이 들었다.
“됐습니다. 그만 앉으셔도 좋습니다.”
박태상의 목소리에 눈을 떴다. 다시 낯선 사무실이었다. 나는 땀이 촉촉이 밴 칼을 쇼핑백에 담았다.
As seen the advert to which she responded doesn't specify any familiarity with knives - that she has seems a coincidence (although it would have been easier to write the novel to make the advert more specific). And the relatively casual way she accepts this new role is rather implausible. Both of which are a little symptomatic of the novel's plotting.
The novel then proceeds via a variety of first-person narrators - some returning (including Mrs Shim) - of those connected with the agency, including her boss, fellow workers, clients, a rival agency and her two children, one of whom ends up recruited for a similar role by the rival agency in a Mr & Mrs Smith type scenario where neither mother nor son suspects what the other does for a living - and if there is no honour amongst thieves there is even less amongst contract killers.
Then he said, out of nowhere, ‘I don’t trust Mrs Shim.’
He didn’t trust Mrs Shim? The same highly lauded Mrs Shim who was ranked first in what we called sales? Had some sort of conflict arisen between the two of them that I didn’t know about?
‘Do you remember my birthday? When the police suddenly 06 stormed in?’
‘Of course I remember. We all had to make a bunch of trips 08 to the police station. It was definitely unexpected, wasn’t it?’
Mr Park’s eyelids were slightly twitching.
‘That day, if it hadn’t been for the police, I might have died.’
“나는 심여사를 믿지 않아.”
뜻밖의 말이었다. 매출의 일등 공신인 심여사를 믿지 않는다니. 내가 모르는 새 두 사람 사이에 어떤 갈등이 생긴 걸까.
“지난 내 생일날 기억하지? 갑자기 경찰이 들이닥쳤던 때.”
“기억하죠. 그 일 때문에 우리 모두 몇 번이나 경찰서를 들락거렸는데요. 참 별일이죠?”
박태상의 눈꺼풀이 가볍게 떨리고 있었다.
“그날, 경찰이 아니었다면 나는 죽었을지 몰라."
It's all rather preposterously over the top - and would make for an entertaining Netflix series, and indeed I realised post-reading that one of the author's previous novels, 살인자의 쇼핑몰 was made into a TV series shown on Disney Plus, and another, 살인자의 쇼핑목록, a Korean domestic TV series.
As a novel it's not terribly satisfying but entertaining and the similar The Old Woman with the Knife, Chi-Young Kim's translation of 파과 by 구병모 (Gu Byeong-Mo), is a stronger work. 2.5 stars.

That was a fun little novel but it didn't completely work for me. We start with Mrs Shim, a widow raising two teenagers and trying to make ends meet, when she gets a new job as a killer for hire. That was an interesting premise and the first chapter, about her life and her new job, was really fun and engaging. Each chapter after that is about another character, a neighbour, her boss, a victim... they felt a bit too disconnected at times and I found it hard to remain engaged, despite a couple of plot twists towards the last third of the book.
It was well written and well translated though, and I enjoyed the universe Kang Jiyoung creates.

Quelle découverte ! J'ai beaucoup aimé cette lecture. Et en audio, c'était parfait. L'écoute était entraînante, pleine de secrets, de mystères, de révélations. Chaque chapitre se consacre à un personnage, pour finalement constituer un tout qui chamboule vos convictions. Franchement, la construction est ingénieuse et captivante.

Donc elle s'embarque dans des vendettas qui dépassent de loin les plans initiaux. Et pensez-vous que le lecteur est sous le choc ? Que nenni. Perso j'ai été bluffée et j'ai quasiment tout écouté d'une traite car j'avais envie de connaître la suite et de comprendre qui, comment, pourquoi, et avec qui, non mais c'est pas possible, tout est lié alors !!! Bref. C'était une chouette lecture. Avec une narration pour la version audio qui est géniale. ♥

May 27, 2026Jag blev otroligt positivt överraskad av den här boken, och det var en riktigt kul och välskriven läsupplevelse! Premissen om en före detta slaktare som blir lönnmördare för att försörja sin familj lät så spännande, men jag gick nog in i det med lite fel förväntningar då jag trodde att vi enbart skulle följa fru Shim. Till min förvåning berättas istället varje kapitel ur olika karaktärers perspektiv. Alla karaktärer är personer ur hennes liv, och alla dessa olika vinklar kokas till slut ihop runt just hennes jobb på ett otroligt skickligt sätt där allt knyts ihop perfekt på slutet. Jag var väldigt tacksam för namnförteckningen i början, för det kan vara lite svårt att hålla reda på alla karaktärer först, men när man väl kom in i det flöt läsningen på jättebra. Jag gillade speciellt att boken var så samhällskritisk och lyfte fram verkliga problem i landet, även om jag ibland hade önskat mig lite mer humor som andrum i allt det mörka. Så även om jag inte fick exakt den struktur jag trodde, är jag väldigt nöjd och ser verkligen fram emot att läsa mer av författaren!

opowieść o ludziach, życiowych wyborach i zabijaniu opowiedziana wieloma glosami. przez kazdy rozdzial prowadzi nas inna osoba, co trochę mnie męczyło. mam wrażenie, ze w książce poznajemy zbyt wielu bohaterów. wystarczyłoby skupić się na kilku głównych postaciach, a nie rozwijać losy bohaterów drugoplanowych. początek i koniec książki są świetne, czyta się je bardzo szybko. jednak mniej więcej w połowie historii zaczyna się robić nużąco. podsumowując, książka przyjemna, bardzo dobra lektura na lato, jednak osobiście zmieniłabym kilka rzeczy.

A contract killer is a pretty crazy, almost effed up kind of job but when thrown an ajumma as a hired assassion out of desperation, its even crazier. Mrs Shim is a Killer is exactly this. Opening up with Mrs Shim, the titular character whose struggling as a widowed mother to fund her children's school tuition with her butcher skills but the meat shop sudden close down led her to answer a very suspicious job ad. The agency front faced as a detective agency but it actually carries some really dark, disturbing job behind the mask of contract killing. Unexpectedly, Shim Eunok becomes expert in this industry, feared by most from rumors, said to be the protege of Park Taesang whom is her boss.
Whats interesting about this book, the chapters featured new characters with each of them have connection to Mrs Shim in a bigger scheme, its clever but can also be daunting to read since you are not following only one character but like a full cast of people. I went into this book expecting us to follow Mrs Shim on her journey as a contract killer but alas was served with platters of background stories of a whole cast of characters, their beginning, pasts, and what motivates them. Its kinda crazy since my god, so many of them! But i found the unique storytelling gave you deeper context on many societal commentary like domestic abuse, the violence of murders, prejudiced views of beauty standard, and the degraded view on older woman confined into the context of "ajumma".
The introduction to each chapter for each new characters are long winded at times and can be exhausting to follow because you barely know their name but there is one chapter that I do like for how dark the story is, from being kidnapped as a victim to become a killer themselves in a cruel twist of fate. This macabre comedy served as a less than thrilling story but more of the convoluted mess of the world of killers.

Great writing, but unfortunately, I assumed (based on the blurb) the story was to be focused on Mrs Shim, when in fact it was full of numerous, complicated and confusing points of view of people she knew and worked with (most of whom I couldn’t work out) and this spoilt it. A shame, because it had great promise.

Ah, I do feel bad giving 2 stars to a book that is well written, has diverse and complex characters, and has intricately detailed scenes, but this book was NOT what was sold to me on the back cover. The synopsis implies we will follow Mrs. Shim's new career path in the world of contract killing, but what the book actually is is more like a collection of short stories where each chapter is a different character's life story, and there was no mention of that on the back cover. I don't like being lied to.

ماكانش عندها أي خبرات تكتبها غير إنها اشتغلت في محل لحوم ، لكن بارك ، المسؤول عن الوكالة ، قالها إن طالما اشتغلت في اللحوم فهي أكيد تعرف تستخدم السكين كويس ، وعرض عليها تشتغل قاتلة مأجورة وفي المقابل هتتحل مشاكلها المادية 😁
لحد الصفحة 19 من الرواية ، انا كنت منبهره وحسيت إنها هتجنني بعد كده وهتاخد 5 نجوم ، لإنها المفروض هتبقي عن قاتلة وكبيرة في السن ، ده اللي اعتقدته ولكن مش ده بالظبط اللي حصل ، الأحداث مش بتمشي بنفس الشكل اللي انا اعتقدته وللأسف خيبت ظني!
بعد كده بدأت أفقد اهتمامي بالتدريج وحسيت إني بكمل القراءة بدافع إني عايزة اخلص الرواية ، مش بدافع الفضول
الرواية بعد البداية دي ، ابتدت تدخل شخصيات كتير ، وأنا بطبعي بميل للروايات اللي شخصياتها محدودة ، لأن كثرة الشخصيات بتخليني أتوه ، خصوصاً مع الأسامي الكورية اللي أصلًا صعبة بالنسبالي
وكمان طريقة السرد نفسها ماكانتش محببة بالنسبالي ، لأن الرواية كانت معتمدة بشكل كبير على إن كل شخصية تحكي الأحداث من وجهة نظرها واللي حصل معاها بالتفصيل ، وأنا عادة بفضل الروايات اللي بتمشي بشكل سلس وبسيط
بشكل عام ، ده رأيي الشخصي ، ممكن تكون رواية لطيفة بالنسبة لحد تاني ولكن بالنسبالي انا لأ ، نجمتين للبداية فقط ، لأنها كانت فعلًا قوية ، لكن باقي الرواية ماحبيتوش ، ولا النهاية حتى أقنعتني
الحقيقة إن أكتر حاجة فضلت عالقة في ذهني هي هل الإنسان فعلًا ممكن بسبب الاحتياج أو الظروف يوصل إنه يعمل حاجات ضد مبادئه تماماً اصلاً ولا الشخص بيكون أصلًا عنده استعداد داخلي؟
يعني هل الاحتياج ممكن يغير الإنسان بالشكل ده ويخليه يتجاوز حدود عمره ما كان متخيل إنه يتجاوزها؟
ولا الإنسان في النهاية ما بيعملش غير الحاجات اللي كان قادر يعملها من البداية ، حتى لو كان مخبيها جواه ومجرد إنها بتلاقي الفرصة المناسبة للظهور بس ..

Korea som land har ju kommit starkt de senaste åren, både vad gäller film, serier, musik och mat. Jag har provat alla dem, med lite olika resultat, men böcker därifrån har jag inte läst. Förrän nu då. Lönnmördaren fru Shim la jag märke till när jag gick igenom intressanta boksläpp för april och naturligtvis så lockade den.
Rent generellt så kan man nog säga att jag har lite svårt för det asiatiska lynnet. Det som verkar skrämma dem reagerar jag knappt på. Men om man ska döma efter vad jag har sett och nu läst därifrån så är det både märkligt och farligt. Jag hoppas dock att det inte är så här att leva i Korea, med lönnmördare som smyger omkring överallt och där alla vill döda alla.
Lönnmördaren fru Shim är en intressant inblick i vad som är en fullständigt annorlunda kultur jämfört med vår. Och då tänker jag inte på dödandet, utan på alla runt omkring. Den känns nästan lite farsliknande, något som jag inte alls gillar. Upplägget är riktigt snyggt, men tyvärr mer än lovligt rörigt.

When Mrs. Shim loses her job and faces mounting debts, she desperately applies to the Smile Detective Agency, thinking it is a simple cleaning service. Instead, she accidentally finds herself working for an assassination agency where her sharp butcher-knife skills make her the city's most efficient hitwoman.
I absolutely loved the writing of this book because it kept me hooked from the very first page. Every single chapter is tightly connected to the main plot, and it was wonderful getting to know the deep backstory of every character along the way.
The only thing that bothered me was how confusing some chapters felt at the beginning, even though they beautifully connected to the story later on. Also, the ending felt a bit rushed and could have been a lot better.
Despite that, it is a very addictive and darkly funny thriller.

Szeretem a dél-koreai filmek hangulatát, valószínűleg filmen ez a történet is jobban megfogott volna. Egész mást kaptam, mint amit vártam, erős kezdés után lassan elvesztem a rengeteg szereplő között, akiknek képtelen voltam megjegyezni a nevét. Igaz, hogy a végére összeáll a több szemszögből bemutatott sztori, de addigra már elvesztettem az érdeklődésem. Amúgy mindenki meg akart ölni vagy öletni valakit/valakiket. Ez részben sikerült is. A stílusa szépirodalmi, de engem nem ért el.

This is a very strange book. There is a group of people, all connected in some way to Mrs. Shim, their lives completely intertwined, linked by murder. And everyone in the book is either a killer or seems to want to be a killer. I can't believe that people in Korea have the casual attitude to killing that all these characters seem to have! As one of them says, people kill people, so they all seem to think why shouldn't I?

Se trata de un entretenido thriller de la literatura coreana, que se centra en dos agencias de detectives cuyo objetivo es matar a alguien por encargo. La protagonista: Mrs Shim es una joven viuda, ama de casa, que se ve obligada a trabajar en una de las agencias para mantener a sus dos hijos.
La historia se cuenta a través de múltiples perspectivas de gente involucrada en cada una de las agencias, empezando por la perspectiva más importante la de Mrs Shim, que habla de lo agotador que es para ella ser madre de dos hijos sin la ayuda de su marido, e incluso, algo que me gustó mucho, tratar de encontrar equilibrio entre su nuevo trabajo y la crianza de sus hijos. Además, su capítulo muestra como se ve obligada a trabajar por el bienestar de su familia y cómo no esperaba tener que matar a otras personas, lo que la lleva a reflexionar sobre la muerte y sobre el hecho de matar para sobrevivir. Tras el capi de ella, Kan Jiyoung muestra la perspectiva de otras personas implicadas en la historia: Mr Park, la persona para la cual trabaja, la perspectiva de alguna de las clientas y personas que demandan este servicio. Todo ello permite ampliar el espectro de la historia y mostrar los problemas que llevan a esas personas a pensar en deshacerse de un ser querido.
Una de las historias que más me gustó fue la de una de las clientas. Una mujer mayor, que está embarazada y que descubre que su marido no es el padre de sus hijos ya que durante el proceso de inseminación, su marido mintió dejando que fuera un amigo, quien fuera el padre biológico de los niños. Esa historia nos muestra la decepción de la mujer, y también la desfachatez del marido: incapaz de contar la verdad a su mujer, ni de consultar algo tan importante con ella. Esa historia nos permite ver como las mujeres en Corea, algo que ya mostró Han Kang en The Vegetarian, no tienen voz en la sociedad coreana, y es su marido quien toma las decisiones importantes. En el caso de esta novela, a diferencia de The Vegetarian, las mujeres tratan de revertir esa situación, tratan de tener voz.
Otro aspecto que me llama la atención de este thriller, es cómo Kang Jiyoung combina el thriller con el costumbrismo que rodea el mundo femenino. Mrs Shim no es sólo una asesina muy perfeccionista, es también ama de casa y madre. E incluso sus hijos se van a ver salpicados por el trabajo de su madre. La protagonista no es perfecta, salvo en su trabajo, es una mujer que tiene problemas para sacar a su familia adelante, llega a sentir al principio cansancio ante su nuevo trabajo.
Además, hay una gran gama de personajes femeninos: desde mujeres de mediana edad, como la protagonista, la hija de ella, alguna clienta, e incluso la propia compañera de trabajo de la protagonista. Todas ellas añaden nuevas aristas a la historia.
En cuanto al estilo: narración en primera persona, lo que ayuda al lector a empatizar con los personajes: femeninos y masculinos y a conocer los motivos que los llevaron a trabajar en las agencias o a contratar sus servicios. El libro combina el thriller con un tono costumbrista y a veces con un punto de irónico y divertido.
Se trata de una historia sencilla que nos muestra el rol de la mujer coreana en la sociedad y los intentos de las mujeres por ir ganando peso en la sociedad.
La historia se cuenta a través de múltiples perspectivas de gente involucrada en cada una de las agencias, empezando por la perspectiva más importante la de Mrs Shim, que habla de lo agotador que es para ella ser madre de dos hijos sin la ayuda de su marido, e incluso, algo que me gustó mucho, tratar de encontrar equilibrio entre su nuevo trabajo y la crianza de sus hijos. Además, su capítulo muestra como se ve obligada a trabajar por el bienestar de su familia y cómo no esperaba tener que matar a otras personas, lo que la lleva a reflexionar sobre la muerte y sobre el hecho de matar para sobrevivir. Tras el capi de ella, Kan Jiyoung muestra la perspectiva de otras personas implicadas en la historia: Mr Park, la persona para la cual trabaja, la perspectiva de alguna de las clientas y personas que demandan este servicio. Todo ello permite ampliar el espectro de la historia y mostrar los problemas que llevan a esas personas a pensar en deshacerse de un ser querido.
Una de las historias que más me gustó fue la de una de las clientas. Una mujer mayor, que está embarazada y que descubre que su marido no es el padre de sus hijos ya que durante el proceso de inseminación, su marido mintió dejando que fuera un amigo, quien fuera el padre biológico de los niños. Esa historia nos muestra la decepción de la mujer, y también la desfachatez del marido: incapaz de contar la verdad a su mujer, ni de consultar algo tan importante con ella. Esa historia nos permite ver como las mujeres en Corea, algo que ya mostró Han Kang en The Vegetarian, no tienen voz en la sociedad coreana, y es su marido quien toma las decisiones importantes. En el caso de esta novela, a diferencia de The Vegetarian, las mujeres tratan de revertir esa situación, tratan de tener voz.
