I enjoyed the overall story and was very invested in the characters. I liked how the ex was woven into Ruby’s storyline. It was good to get an insight into the reasons behind her behaviours. It would have been good to have him appear maybe once more but that’s a very small gripe.
I did unfortunately find it too repetitive. Cozy Cup, Bramblewell to name a few. There was a certain sentence structure that was repeatedly used, as well as particular descriptive phrases/words. Sometimes the setting description was too much/too often. This did detract from the reading because I couldn’t unsee it.
Apart from this, I had to finish because I wanted to see what Ruby would do and how she would overcome the fear. I did really enjoy the ‘sparring’ between the two main characters and also some of the other Bramblewell regulars - Mr Finch, Edna and Mrs Parker. I did giggle a couple of times while reading. I liked how Sam was so patient with Ruby.
If you’re looking for a lighthearted read (hints at but doesn’t go into too much detail re spicy side of things) then this is the book for you.

A delight of a book, for all ages. A great summer read.
I loved the characters and setting of the story, the way it meanders through lives of the villagers. Would have enjoyed a bit more going on with Ruby and Sam. The build up of a friendship was clear, the sparring of courtship, but no mention of passion. Their story, needed extending, so the reader could become involved and become part of their lives.
I loved the way that the ex- partner, showed up. Their storyline was clear. It shows how carefully chosen words, could control and obscure people’s happiness, making them doubt themselves and their abilities to thrive or shut down and doubt themselves.
Overall a cost story, that’s a perfect interlude, into the summer!

Just exceptional!!
I was not expecting this to be as good as the last but it most definitely was!
The attention to detail is extraordinary!
And like the first book, the characters are great! And real!

Second book in the Bramblewell series and just as good as the first one!

Second book about Bramblewell and this time it’s Ruby finding love with Noah’s brother Sam. Ex partner Derek appears and tries to control her but she works through it. Believing Sam will not want to settle in one place she makes light of their romance and sends him away. Noah puts her straight and the village unite to enable her to go after him and bring him back. We do love a happy ending. Book three due out soon. Can’t wait.
