Preaching Matters

Preaching matters because it is a God-ordained means of encountering Christ. When the Bible is faithfully and relevantly explained, it changes hearts and attitudes, and, most of all, draws us into a living relationship with God through Christ. This is happening all around the world.

This book aims to ignite passion that this will happen whether we preach every week, or listen. It will encourage all to participate in the dynamic event of God's Word speaking in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Extremely helpful outline of what Biblical preaching is all about. The Keswisk prayer for Bible ministry he quotes is a good one: We are praying for deep, clear, powerful teaching, which would take hold of the souls of the people, and overwhelm them, and lead them to full, definite, all-conquering faith in Jesus". You can't beat that for an aim, and Lamb's book certainly encourages that of its readers. Some useful material in the short appendices, too, on how to go about putting his recommendations into practice.
