Disclaimer: I DNF Kodiak's Claim with about 1.5 hours left in the audio.
I was a little disappointed in Kodiak's Claim. After reading bear shifters by authors like Jessica Sims, Shelley Laurenston and Jennifer Ashley I was looking forward to starting Kodiak's Claim.
All of the other werebears I've read from the mentioned authors have been a delight. They are lovable, grumpy and have an obsession with honey and/or fish like their animal counterparts. Making them fun characters. I can't say the same for Reid. He just didn't hit that werebear itch I had.
The narration was on the slow side for me. Chandra Skyye didn't have an unpleasant voice but it was a little too mono-toned for me. She just read the book. There was not much difference in the voices. Honestly the narration could have easily put me to sleep if I had been listening at home instead of work.
The story, characters and narration didn't work for me. They didn't pull me in and I found myself not caring how Kodiak's Claim ended. The writing wasn't bad so I'm going to give the second book in the Kodiak Point series, Outfoxed by Love a try. I mean the idea of a moose shifter has peaked my interest. But I'll be checking it out in ebook format from the library instead of listening to the audio.
“There are times in a shifter’s life when you run into a person and there’s like a bolt of lightning. A sensation of rightness. Desire. Need.”
“No eating people. The first rule a shifter learned, right after don’t lick the electrical outlet.”
