Handsome Devil

Handsome Devil is a light-hearted Filipino romance set in both the Philippines and England.

Jessica E. Larsen is a Filipina writer based in Spain. As of May 2021, she decided to only write Filipino stories and publish her English stories under Jessie Winterspring.

More than anything though, she devours romance like an addict who needs drugs. This can be seen a lot in her writing.

She loves spending time reading and falling in love with fictional characters. Enjoy watching Japanese anime while eating noodles with chopsticks and drool at the 80s and 90s music videos.

She lives near the Mediterranean coast with her husband and mischievous but adorable son, where she gazed to the ocean and scheme how to torment annoying goody-two-shoes or straight-out murder bitchy exes.

This is my second Jessica Larsen Tagalog romance pocketbook.

I like Handsome Devil more than A French FairyFail that's why I gave this a five-star rating. It has a lot of 'kilig' scenes overall.

There were way too many coincidences in this story for my liking, but hey, that is why this is fiction! ^__^

Recommended to all Tagalog romance readers out there.

Light and easy read!

I've been reading a lot of really long books lately that I needed something light. Some books that are just easy to read and that you can read them in one sitting like pocketbooks. Well, this book is something you can read while on the beach or when you are traveling.

I'm happy to read another Tagalog romance book. I think the last time I did was a year ago when someone lent me some of her Martha Cecilia pocketbooks. Handsome devil is an interesting read although the plot is quite familiar in the romance genre. You know the typical girl meets boy and at first she doesn't like him because of his arrogance until she finally give in because the guy is just so irresistible. haha So yeah you know the drill. But then the thing I like about this book is the straight flow of the story that will keep you reading until the last page as well as the conflicts and the mystery part of the story seem well thought-out. The characters are likable (especially the guy, haha) but I think the character development can still be improved. There are some tagalog words I couldn't understand (malalim na tagalog) but did not really affect my reading experience. There are some misspelled words as well but some may not notice them.

Overall, it was a nice and easy read. As I've mentioned, nothing heavy here but one that you might enjoy reading on your free time.

First of all, I'm a sucker for light and easy to read romance stories. Keep in mind that I don't frequently read tagalog stories anymore since I'm kind of a picky reader; I don't read what I don't like to read. Fortunately for me, this story has surpassed my expectations. I'm actually craving for a sequel or anything that can make my heart hold on to Benjamin and Yuna. This story has potential, mind you, this can be a conceivable story flow of a movie or a tv series. It's well-crafted, free of loopholes, and the angst between the two characters is realistic. Although I wish there's really a guy like Benjamin in my neighbourhood (nudge nudge, Ella, the guy working at the coffee shop downtown is your “Benjamin”) but I think I'll pass.

I guess, if you're really destined to be together, just like Benjamin and Yuna, you're meant to be together at the end. So, if you want to experience the exhilarating feeling I've encountered while reading Handsome Devil, I suggest you buy this book, put your headphones on, and start reading until your own “Benjamin” comes along.

GREAT!!

This is the first time maybe that I have read a "Taglish" romance story. I rrate it 4 because it is very interesting and it has thrilling part and also romance. It is stated that the author loves writing stories ever since she was a young girl. And her excellence in writing stories is proven by this story and also her published ones. I am amazed how the author mixed the English and Tagalog languages together without fail. But there are parts where the words are not in proper order but it is readable and can be understood even by younger readers.

As a conclusion, this story is very nice. I suggest to read this story and also the other stories of the author.

The story itself is good; it's interesting. The read itself is difficult. I had difficulty reading some areas due to grammatical errors and sentence structure.

The book has a decent storyline, and good structure. The language is not highly attractive, still will not disappoint any reader.
