b. k. borison does it again 🙂↕️ this was so, so fun!
we are following maggie and cooper, who are somewhat workplace nemeses, but are obviously obsessed with each other. there’s also a pen pal plotline, which is one of my absolute FAVOURITES, and i thought it was done so well here. watching their online friendship develop while they were simultaneously butting heads in real life was so entertaining, especially knowing what we knew as the reader.
the first third of this book was a tad slow for me, and i was struggling to fully see the chemistry between maggie and cooper at first. BUT once we got into the second half, i was completely hooked. the tension really started to build, their relationship became so much more compelling, and suddenly i could not put the book down. i finished this at 2am, which i feel speaks for itself.
i also really loved maggie as a main character. she’s so passionate about the radio station and the people she works with, and i loved seeing how much she cared about keeping it going. cooper was also such a fun love interest, especially as we got to see more of him outside of his ‘intimidating’ corporate persona. their whole dynamic was just really sweet once they finally started letting themselves be honest about their feelings.
and i have to mention all the cameos from the rest of the heartstrings series because i LOVED seeing everyone again!! those little moments added so much to the book for me and made it feel like such a nice continuation of the world.
overall, this was addictive, fun, sweet, and so entertaining. i loved the you've got mail-inspired setup, the pen pal romance and the workplace rivalry. definitely recommend if you love a good romcom with lots of tension and a romance that eventually has you fully invested!!

I was absolutely feral for this. Enemies to lovers is a trope I will forever be down bad for, and B.K. Borison knows how to write some GOOD hating. Their arguing had me sitting there like, "ohhhhhh this is definitely going to become foreplay eventually." 😏 And when I realized we were getting a pen-pal plot too?! PLEASEEEE. I have always been a sucker for You’ve Got Mail vibes, so I was immediately invested.
I adored Maggie. She is so fiercely loyal to her dad, her employees, and the little world she has worked herself half to death to protect. She carries SO much, and underneath all that competence and determination is someone incredibly soft and caring. I especially loved her relationships with her employees and her dad. The loyalty between them all felt so genuine and warm. I hated that people sometimes mistook her strength for a lack of softness when, really her heart was always right there🥺🥺
And Cooper? My goodness. I loved him just as much. Getting to see the person underneath the corporate villain exterior was so different from what I initially expected. His background genuinely broke my heart, and even though he was technically there to take Maggie’s business, I couldn’t help feeling for him. What really got me, though, was how much he respected Maggie. He never diminished her or underestimated what she had built. If anything, he was impressed by her, and the way he just wanted to take some of the weight and stress off her shoulders??? I CANNOTTTTTTT (we love a caring and supportive man cmon now🙂↕️)
And onto the banter... literally so good. So sharp. So edged. I was just waiting for the breaking point. I KNEW it was going to happen, and when that tension finally snapped, it was so delicious. But I especially loved that even after the tension broke, they still barbed back and forth with each other. They didn’t lose that part of their relationship, and I appreciated that SO much because sometimes in enemies to lovers books, once the tension snaps, the banter kind of disappears. Not here. They kept that spark, and I loved it 🙂↕️😝🫶🏼
I was genuinely freaking out toward the end because WHAT DO YOU MEAN THAT HAPPENED THREE CHAPTERS BEFORE THE BOOK ENDED??? Everything fell apart so fast, and I was sitting there wondering how on earth things were going to get better. 😭 and then that little plot twist??? I was STUNNED to say the least
Honestly this was the perfect wrap-up to the series. I’m genuinely sad it’s over. B.K. Borison just knows how to write a romance that feels warm, nostalgic, funny, and completely consuming. I loved the vibes of this entire series, and now I desperately need recommendations for books with that same 90s rom-com feeling because apparently that is my personality now😝😝😍🙊
(also time to go pick up the first in the series because i was in a book slump when i started it and was nottt feeling it)

August 24, 2026Oh this will probably be my most FAVORITE one. Maggie, like myself, is a workaholic and always wrapped up in taking care of everyone and everything. I just KNEW that when Cooper was introduced, there was LOTS of tension and this would be her story. I really can't wait to see how their story unfolds. Massive thanks to Berkley. You just literally made my day and possibly whole week.

4.5 ⭐️ omg I love this series 😭 I wish there were like 15 more books bc I’d read every single one with a smile on my face
This is definitely my top 2, it only loses to First-Time Caller (which is my absolute favorite) but tbh it’s a veryyy close second. I loved Cooper, but I especially loved Maggie. My girl definitely pushed my patience a little too far at times, but I will defend her forever!!!! The banter between them was exceptional and I really loved the little glimpses we got of their pen pal relationship. For me, this was just shy of 5 stars bc I thought the final resolution was a little silly and felt like it came out of absolutely nowhere. But overall, this has definitely become one of my favorite romances.

Longtime Listener is BK Borison at her absolute best, and I devoured the whole thing in a single day. Am I sorry? No...but also Yes, because this is the final book in the series and now I have to leave these people behind.
The You've Got Mail homage is pure joy- Maggie and Cooper's banter has that same slow-burn tension where you can feel them falling for each other one exchange at a time, even when they're supposedly just talking or arguing. Borison knows exactly how to write two people who are clearly perfect for each other and still make you ache through every step of them figuring it out.
And the glimpses of Aidan and Jackson scattered throughout? Absolute gift. Getting to check back in with couples from earlier books without it feeling forced is such a hard needle to thread, and she does it effortlessly, it makes the whole series feel like one big, warm, connected world instead of just a checklist of sequels.
This is cozy romance done right: witty, tender, and impossible to put down!
