The Gut Health Protocol: A Natural Approach To Healing SIBO, Intestinal Candida, GERD, Gastritis, and other Gut Health Issues

Rate this book
The Gut Health Protocol outlines natural approaches to tackling dozens of stomach and intestinal health issues using only scientifically studied natural herbs, supplements and diet. Supplements commonly available in local health foods stores and at your favorite online retailer. Many common ailments often have gut issues as their underlying cause, conditions such as: recurring stomach aches, diarrhea, constipation, heartburn, IBS, acid reflux, nausea, eating disorders, eczema, obesity, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and even major depression have all been linked to gut issues. The root of many of these problems can often be traced quite convincingly to Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO), intestinal candida albicans, h.pylori bacteria overgrowth in the stomach, bacterial dysbiosis throughout the gut or other secondary conditions that these infections cause. The Gut Health Protocol, and The Gut Health Diet, can usually resolve these issues, and without damaging antibiotics or steroids. Even if you choose to go the antibiotic route The Gut Health Protocol can make the treatment more effective and can help prevent serious complications.

The Gut Health Protocol contains over 500 published scientific studies summarized and explained in easy to understand language, over 300 pages on paper. Unlike many self-help books nearly everything in the book is based on science, not opinion. The author takes all of this brilliant research and translates it to the practical application of healing and caring for our gut.

The book is written in such a way as allow your doctor to easily look up the scientific studies to validate the claims and treatment suggestions. No need to take the author’s word for anything, you and your doctor can read the research. It is recommended that everyone works with a doctor to determine a treatment plan.

Though everyone’s condition is different, you can be feeling much better in as little as 2 weeks, naturally and without risky antibiotics.

I came across this book on a facebook forum where John Herron disseminated a free version of it and dilligently answered questions about each member´s issues. I have been struggling with several autoimmune diseases, Ehlers Danlos syndrome, mast cell activation syndrome candida, mercury intoxification for over a decade and have always been dismissed as just another person with IBS. IBS is not a diagnosis, it is to be blunt, your doctor´s way of saying that he is too lazy or too stingy to do futher testing or refuses to educate themselves. I always knew my problem was related to my gut and read plenty of books about that topic, let alone consultated a gazillion of doctors and healers. I have not met a single doctor that was even halfway interested in the latest research about gut health. As a matter of fact I ahve not even met a doctor who was keeping up with research at all. That is why I strongly think only people who had gone through the same issues are actually capable in writing a gut health protocol. I strongly recommend it to everyone suffering from gut issues.

This is an excellent book / guide to gut health issues, in particular SIBO. The author has carefully crafted the information in the most useful format possible and cited a great deal if his information. The book goes into detail about the treatment options for SIBO and what is required to heal and re-build the gut afterwards. It's a great resource, for self-treatment or for assisting you on your journey with your doctor.

Fabulous, well researched book that assisted me tremendously with SIBO, leaky gut, and other autoimmune issues I unknowingly struggled with for years. most experts simply discounted the digestive problems as IBS, when in fact they were anything but that. sadly this is true of most people struggling with digestive problems /disorders. following Johns book to a TV helped me stop the avalanche of issues and put me on the right track to living a healthier life!

I wish this book would be more everyday person friendly. I had this book for years but barely muster the courage to read it.
I am not oblivious to healing protocols and most things this book talks about but as a patients perspective I wish the writer understood that we are tired and so much data can be overwhelming.
I felt the book to be somewhat confusing and at times a bit repetitive. there were times when I felt I was reading about a specific supplement and I wish all the important information of that specific topic in one section. But instead I found it shared bits and pieces on the supplement and then Iater read more in other sections, which made it somewhat confusing to put a plan together and do note taking. Also WHEN or HOW to take the supplement was elusive and not very specific. I get that not everyone’s body needs the same things but I still feel that there wasn’t much clarity on things like that. I guess look at the bottle.

By looking at cover it looks like a friendly book because the girl in the cover looks overwhelmed and my idea is to make it easy for that girl who already has so much on her side.
I understand that this book was meant to be friendly for the people struggling with gut issues but the book is still overwhelming. It’s more of an index, you have to go look at the back for answers and do a little more work and research and figure put together a plan for yourself based on what it shares. it’s still very valuable information. I would give it 3.8 stars. I just wish there was a more condensed version with more specifics on action steps / plan kind of approach. And a separate section where people can read more about the research if they have the time and energy to do so.
I am grateful at the fact that someone even cares enough to write about these things that matter so much to so many, so I do appreciate the great effort. Just wish it was a little more everyday person friendly. Thanks again to the author and all the people involved putting it together.

Did not finish. I mostly just skimmed as the author failed to establish ethos. The book claims to be a meta-research, but it is badly put. It also fails to translate jargons into layman’s terms. For example, what exactly does this mean:

Fengyang et al. examined the anti-inflammatory proprieties of stevioside and discovered that stevioside exerts its anti-inflammatory effect by inhibiting the activation of NF-κB and mitogen-activated protein kinase signaling and the release of pro-inflammatory cytokines…

I find the structure of sentences annoyingly cumbersome. Too many parenthetical remarks. Direct quotes from medical blogs are overused, so much so that if he were writing this for any university with a strict honor code he could get himself expelled.

Food recommendations in the book are not typically found in my corner of the world so this book was really of no use to me.

Note to self: Ignore books when the titles are obviously tailored for SEO.

After suffering from H.Pylori for months, maybe longer, The Gut Health Protocol provided a wealth of information and I was able to eradicate it, along with the conventional method. I am in the healing process and this book stays on my bedside table. Easy to follow and purchase natural products!
