The Garter Toss Agreement

Rate this book
Billie Bliss built her life around three no marriage, no kids, no happily-ever-afters.

As the oldest sister behind Bliss Bridal, she’s made a career out of selling romance while privately roasting it. But when her very private anti-love opinions make her the target of a dangerous obsession, Billie suddenly needs protection.

Unfortunately, the best candidate for the job is the man she wants to avoid at all costs.

Former Navy SEAL. Single dad. Her first heartbreak. And the boy she made a stupid bouquet-and-garter pact with twenty years ago.

Adam Knight is back with life-altering twin daughters he never knew existed and enough emotional scars to avoid anything resembling love.

He’s determined to keep his head down and focus on his girls, until she crashes back into his life. When the woman who’s haunted him for the twenty years, a walking temptation in designer heels, is in danger, he’ll do anything to protect her, even if it complicates his carefully controlled world.

But forced proximity has a way of turning good intentions into bad decisions.

Now Billie’s sleeping under his roof, helping with his girls, invading his kitchen, and reminding Adam exactly why he never forgot her. Because the more they play house, the harder it becomes to pretend they’re not one kiss away from breaking every rule they’ve ever made.

A sexy rom-com featuring a commitment-phobe heroine, protective single dad, forced proximity, best-friends-to-lovers tension, marriage pact vibes, injury caretaking, swoony banter, and all the slow-burn

This book was so heartbreaking and heartwarming! I am a sucker for children and this book had the two cutest five year old girl twins. Adam and Billie had been best friends since she was fours old and he was six years old. Adam was the sweetest and most caring boy/man that a woman could want. I can’t imagine how Billie had taken care of her two sisters since she was a child herself, but she had done a great job of it. Billie and Adam had both said they never wanted children. Something heart breaking happened to the two just before Adam turned 18 and he left for the Navy. Twenty years later Adam moves back into his father’s house he inherited with his twin girls Joey and Andi who he knew nothing about until a week ago. Adam’s house was next to Billie’s grandparents house that one of Billie’s sister lived in now. Billie was shocked when she came out of her sister’s house and Adam was staring at her after 20 years of never seeing him or seeing him. I loved how there were things that happened that kept throwing them together. The twins were so adorable that I couldn’t get enough of them! There were also some scary things happening to Billie. This book just touched my heart so many times that I didn’t want it to end. I strongly encourage you to read it.

Adam and Billie had been best friends since they met early in life until all of a sudden Adam ghosted her for over 20 years.

20 years have passed and Adam returns to his childhood house with twins that he had no idea he fathered knowing that he would probably have to face his past and the fact he ran as far as he could from Billie.  Adam never expected kids himself and changed his whole world to raise his twins that lost both their mother and grandmother within a few years.  Billie had never wanted kids after being the one that raised her sisters even as a kid herself.

After a stalker targets Billie, she moves back into her childhood home temporarily right next to Adam and his girls and can't help but get entangled with their lives after an accident causes Adam to need assistance around the house.

Adam and Billie's obvious attraction and chemistry come across the pages like a fire with each encounter adding gasoline to the flame.  Add in a secret marriage of convenience that neither one wants to admit that they wanted and the book was a page turner that wouldn't let me put it down.

charming heartfelt romance 💘

Shawna Renae’s The Garter Toss Agreement is the perfect blend of romance, chemistry, humor, and emotional depth. From the very first chapter, the characters pull you in with their undeniable connection and witty banter, making it impossible not to keep turning the pages. Shawna does an incredible job creating realistic emotions and tension while still keeping the story fun.
If you enjoy contemporary romance with heart, humor, and plenty of sparks, The Garter Toss Agreement is definitely worth adding to your reading list.

A great story in the Bliss series. Billie and Adam were so in love but had so many obstacles to cross. Loved the little girls who immediately draw you into their world. A little suspense thrown in for the win. ❤️❤️

Very long wait for a very messy book

This book was supposed to be released approximately 18 months before it was. Unfortunately the quality does not match the extended wait time. It's an absolute mess of typos, POV errors and messy details, all of which should have been caught by a halfway decent beta reader and editor. More disappointing is the forced convoluted story.

We start with Billie, the FMC and oldest sister of Bliss bridal. She's strong, dependable and intelligent..... So why does the author immediately turn her into a wet blanket the minute a cute guy shows up? In his defense, Adam isn't a completely terrible MMC either. He's just more indecisive than a 5 year old at a candy buffet. "I love her, I can't marry anyone, I can't live without her, she can't be mine....." He has some rationale for his ideas but he's got less conviction than a teen girl picking manicure colors and together their communication skills are worse than children. He's a frickin navy seal and has no close friends? But somehow the foster kid he worked with when he was in highschool 20+ years ago is his self-appointed bestie and has billionaire besties also claiming friend titles and dumping cash on him? It just doesn't make sense.

Speaking of not making sense, the entire antagonist plotline and Adam's mother plotline are just messy, unnecessary and forced. So stupidly forced. How many geniuses can you write into a single book? How idiotic can you make a genius? Why bother making the antagonist be a genius and female and somehow innocent when you have a perfectly scummy male that works better for the villain? And why bother with the backstory for Adam's mother when it adds no value to the story? These female villains in a female centric genre are ridiculous and disgusting. They detracted from the entire story.

Two year wait for this book only to be annoyed and disgruntled by the way end product. It's disappointment dripping with terrible cologne.

The Garter Toss Agreement is the second book in the Bliss Bridal series and it was a wonderful addition to the series!

Billie Bliss and Adam Knight grew up next door to one another and they were best friends from the start. Billie grew up taking care of her younger sisters and Adam was a support to her all along. Just before Adam turned 18, he left to join the Navy and didn't speak to or see Billie for 20 years.

Adam has just come back to town after learning about his twin daughters only a week before, who are five years old, in tow. He has always loved Billie, but given how he left and now that he has kids he is not sure where this will leave them given she never wanted children. He moves into his father's old house which happens to be next to the house Billie grew up in, so there is no doubt they will cross paths.

When situations arise for both Adam and Billie, they are forced to help one another, which forces their proximity and allows them to see where things really stand between them. Not to mention Billie is taken with the two little girls, Andi and Joey, as much as they are taken with her. Will this end in a happily ever after?

I enjoyed this book so much and Andi and Joey were such superstars! I loved those little girls. This is definitely a great book to pick up and I'm looking forward to the next one in the series!

Once again this talented author delivers a wonderful story that is at times heartbreaking and at others, heartwarming.
After having just lost her Mom and her father dropping her and her sisters at their grandparents home, four years old Billie Bliss meets six years old Adam Knight. A boy that understood her situation and from that moment on they became best friends.
But all changes when two days before Adam turned eighteen, he left town without a goodbye or telling her where he was going. Leaving a hurting and confused Billie .
Twenty years later, after Billie raised and took care of her sisters, now a former Navy SEAL, Adam returns . Not alone , but as a father of twins he knew nothing about.
From the moment they meet again, amidst a stalker and a will, these two reconnected and doing what neither expectedly to do.
Will they finally openly say what they never dared to? Will they take a chance with each other, or will their respective past deny them their HEA?
This was another wonderful story in the series and by this tale author you will fall in love with.
I was entrusted a copy that this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I’m not going to lie, when I started this book, I was expecting the perfect HEA. Although, it was definitely a great HEA, the suspense of Billie’s stalker and Adam’s two adorable little twin daughters made the book even better.

Shawna Renae is an automatic read for me but this one was definitely one of my favorites. I got so caught up in the book, I read it in one day.
