Alyssa Rose Ivy is the bestselling author of more than forty novels with over one million books sold worldwide. She loves to weave stories with romance and humor, and she is best known for writing about college boys with wings. After surviving law school and earning her masters in library science, she turned back to her creative side and decided to write. Although raised in the New York area, she fell in love with the South after moving to New Orleans for college. She lives in Alabama with her two children, and she can usually be found with a cup of coffee in her hand.
It is no mystery that I adore this series and have since the original Crescent Chronicles was released. The very fact that the spin off series is just as great was such a bonus for me. Ivy has a way of writing a story that no matter what is involved, love triangle, mean girl cliché, insta-love, you can't help but be sucked into the story and be disappointed when it is done and left always wanting more.
I have become so invested in the character of this series that I feel like they have become friends and I truly care about their outcome. Even though some of the characters are harder to love than others (Jared I am talking about you), I still want to see them happy in the end.
This was such a great read. The Pterons have become a huge sup favorite of mine and I love every single one of them (okay not the bad guys, they make it too easy to hate them), even some of the grouchy bears are wearing me down and weaseling their way into my heart.
I loved getting more Toby, Jared, Vera, and Casey. We even get some Levi, Owen, Hailey, Georgina, and Allie time as well and it was wonderful having them all together in one story!
I so desperately want a certain love scorned Pteron to have his happily ever after that I can't help but want another book, or three! I need to see him get his happily ever after. So much has happened to him over the course of the series and even though at times he can be a complete douche, you see the goodness and love inside of him as well and I can't wait for that to really come out and shine for everyone to see. His loyalty and devotion to Levi and Allie is so heartwarming and I just know the right girl is out there for him.
Once again this was a wonderful addition to the series with lots of mystery, twists, turns, and exciting action scenes. I can't wait for more!
This was my favorite in the series so far! Loved all the POVs. Glad each chapter was titled who we were reading, that could get confusing if it hadn't been. It was the perfect ending. Going to start the next book tonight!
Stay was a phenomenal read, the massive reveal we were left with in Search was bewildering. Again Alyssa keeps the action, twist and turns coming.
So much happens in this book, with literally everyone in danger and in manger jeopardy. Casey has a lot to deal with in Stay. With seeing her sister for the first time in years only to have to leave her to get away from Tiffany, and omg she is evil, I can't believe I thought she was this quite sweet girl, yeah she was horrible. With Casey no longer in charge of her mind, this puts everyone in danger, especially for what Tiffany is planning.
Toby and Casey's relationship grows and they are head over heels for each other, absolutely adorable, even with all the dangers and the worry Casey has for her sister and her family, their feeling for each other is unstoppable, and they say love conquers all. I love that we finally got to meet Casey mum and Gareth and the rest of where her other life is. Casey mum is awesome and wow what that woman did for her daughters was amazing.
Jared awww poor Jared bless him, he does get himself into some stuff doesn't he, being held captive by Tiffany, and he needs to escape to get everyone to safety, he doesn't want to fail his best friend Levi or his friends and being seen as useless, even though Jared is far from useless. But he also got his thoughts on Casey's sister Vera. Hahaha and wow it really is like a female version of Jared, seriously vera is an amazing character love her, she the kind of women they takes no nonouces but omg does she love teasing Jared lol Love it she drives him crazy, and Jared drives her crazy, I can see these too being together in the future really I can lol there perfect for each other.
Absolute epic ending, I feel so sorry for Jared I wanted to cry for him. I can't wait for his and Vera’s story. I'm very excited about it. I loved the conclusion and ending to Toby and Casey's story. This was a thrilling read all the way through, I enjoyed all the characters new and old. Alyssa series are amazing and I looked forward to each book and series of the different character povs she does. Such a talented writer, and the worlds and imaginations are stunning. I love escaping this world for a bit and going into the paranormal world. Paranormal romance has always been my favourite genre to read, and reading these has made it even more so.
Stay is the third book in the Empire Chronicles by Alyssa Rose Ivy. I love Casey an Toby, and I love that Toby is finally getting the girl. Or is he? Either way, Toby went from a character that I really disliked in the Crescent chronicles to an all around decent dude. Then we have Jared, who finds himself in some awkward if bot dangerous situations in this book. Is it time to let a girl save the day? You know I've loved Jared from the start, and I think he's finally met his match... in more ways than one. I can't wait for more of his story!
The ARC of Stay by Alyssa Rose Ivy was kindly provided to me by the author for review. The opinions are my own.
OCTOBER 30, 2014 · 11:30 PM | EDIT My Review: Stay (The Empire Chronicles #3) by author Alyssa Rose Ivy Last night I finished my 2nd readthrough of Stay in preparation for my review. I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed both. The book continues the story seamlessly while providing further character development in an excellent manner. Throughout this series, I have grown to love these characters and their mesmerizing world. The aptly titled Stay is an homage to a maturity shown in knowing when to stay and when to go.
******(SPOILER ALERT)******
When last we left Jared at the end of Search, he had been captured by ‘the boss’, a witch who had been posing as Tiffany, and he was being held prisoner in a cave belonging to a bear clan.
In the opening of Stay Jared feels something he has never felt before… weak and helpless. In his elitist attitude, there had been no room for the concept that he might need the help of ‘lesser’ shifters. Luckily for him, Vera stayed and risked everything to help him.
Once freed, Jared stayed true to his duty and set out to save Levi & Allie, the king and queen of The Society. They also happened to be Jared’s best friend and his new wife. Vera chose to stay with him… to help him, to save the king and queen, to assuage some of her guilt and give herself a noble purpose.
During their time together, Jared came to realize some harsh truths about himself, namely how selfish and arrogant he had been. His realizations forced him to reevaluate his behavior patterns and taught him to value others. However, he also started to devalue himself.
Vera began to trust again, not just in others but also in herself. She still felt a need to atone for her choices in the past, but she began to believe that she could be a better person. She began to realize that she should value herself more. She began to come to terms with the consequences of her choice to leave her sister Casey and started to see the benefits of choosing to stay… to remain a part of the family she abandoned years earlier.
Meanwhile, Casey battled the effects of Tiffany’s dark magic as Toby, Georgina and Eric tried to find a way to save her. None of them realized yet that Tiffany was ‘the boss’ or that the dark magic she used on Casey could let Tiffany take control of Casey’s mind.
More than once, Casey thanked Toby for staying with her through all of the craziness that had her surrounded. Toby made it clear to her that he wasn’t going anywhere. His place was with her and there he would remain. When the time came for Casey to go with her mom to her bear clan’s island, Toby felt nearly undone as he was forced to remain behind. His dedication never wavered however. He remained in almost the same spot until Casey needed him.
Although his summoning could have been a trap, he gladly stayed true to Casey and the faith she had placed in him. He willingly agreed to follow Casey into her subconscious mind to give her the strength to break the witches spell even though he could have been subject to the same black magic while there. He stayed strong for her which enabled her to be strong for him.
When circumstances forced Casey to choose family duty or to run, she stayed loyal to her family. She chose to step up and do the thing she truly feared… take over the leadership of a society she didn’t know existed until a few months prior. She became her father’s daughter even though she barely knew him. She stayed, and Toby stayed by her side.
Once it was realized that the king and queen were still alive, Toby asked Casey to stay with him, to be his mate and to spend the rest of her life with him. She said yes.
After all that happened, in the end Jared decided to leave New Orleans and the service of the royal family. He knew he would always be loyal to them but he also chose to focus on finding his long-lost mother. He stayed hopeful that she could be found. Vera chose to stay with him on his journey.
Another theme I noticed in this book was the beginning of change. The interaction with Casey (a Pteron-Bear hybrid), Vera, Eric and some others brought about a new way of viewing the world of The Society. Would the future books of the series (the ones to focus on Jared and Vera) continue to develop that change? That was (and still is) my hope.
Stay was extremely enjoyable to me. All the preceding books of the story were as well. They all received high marks from me.
Read them, and see for yourself.

I received this ARC from the author in exchange for an honest review, I was in no way compensated for this review.
BE FOREWARNED, THERE ARE SPOILERS FROM SEARCH IN THIS REVIEW!
Stay concludes Alyssa Rose Ivy's Empire Chronicles, but it in no way concludes the world series! The ending of Stay--and Alyssa saying that there's definitely more to come--assures us of that! And definitely makes me one happy reader! I love this series and pretty much what will just have to be considered the world series as well because the Crescent Chronicles was equally amazing as well!
We pick up Stay pretty much where we left off in Search, which my memory was pretty poor on that front as well, but as I read along, the details were revealed and I remembered enough so I wasn't stalling out on memory lapses! Casey is safe with Toby after Jared helped her escape Tiffany, the-shock-of-a-lifetime villainess! I seriously did not see that one coming! Jared remains trapped as her prisoner and basically, chaos is running rampant everywhere!
This time we have four narrators and that really helps make the story go round and round! But it's not at all confusing. Pretty much Toby and Casey are always together and Vera--Casey's sister--is always with Jared. Hence the point of view changes between four people but in only 2 locations sort of thing. Make sense?
Casey and Toby are dealing with the aftermath of Casey's imprisonment and the shocking results that came with it. This might not have been revealed in Search, so I won't say anything here. In the meantime, Vera not only helps Jared escape Tiffany's clutches but helps him with the new problem...protecting Levi and Allie. For Tiffany has quite the evil plot planned for the two of them. Her backstory was way intriguing as well! Very shocking in the details and truly, I'm still reeling in the fact that Tiffany was a villain! I totally loved her character when we met her in Allie's stories, but never did I think that she was evil incarnate! (in the sense that she is a villain!)
This was naturally a one-day read for me and oh boy did those electronic pages just flow! I was lost to the story and nothing could draw me out! I still find it amazing how deeply Toby changed from the boy we met in the Crescent Chronicles! Naturally, I feel it's safe to say, we were all a bit freaked out by that possessive boyfriend attitude he had going. Especially, when he was an ex-boyfriend! And he was kind of creepy-skeevy! But then in Soar, we saw that he was no longer that guy. He was totally changed and in part, Casey was the cause of that. Before he even asked her out on that date.
Casey and Toby's romance was definitely one of the more sweeter kinds I've read! I loved how they just clicked. And how they were even able to easily overcome Casey's dalliance with Jared, however brief and fleetingly it was. Toby remained a solid rock next to Casey and his devotion to her was just so endearing. I got all gushy and feely-like every time!
The ending to this one was astonishing! So many shocks and reveals! I have the feeling I know who our next hero/heroine will be in this world series! There's enough story fodder left over that points us in that direction! I even think I know who could be another possibly couple storyline, but it's too soon to tell on that one! But who knows! Alyssa may surprise us yet again with the added couple to the next series installment!
If you're looking for the perfect Paranormal New Adult series, I can never recommend Alyssa Rose Ivy enough, because her series are perfect! If you're looking for that story that's purely New Adult but with the delicious mix of paranormal goodness, then look no further than Alyssa Rose Ivy!
It's been a while since I've last read a book in this series and I thought it was about time for me to continue on with it. Now, I don't know if it's just me, but I feel like the last few books were so much better. First of all, there are four frickan point of views. Vera's, Jared, Toby, and Casey. That's way too much and it was confusing at first when the point of views kept changing from person to person and the circumstances were different. I understand that having two point of views in a book is all the rage nowadays, and it has its benefits, but FOUR?! That confusion got in the way of my enjoyment. Now that I've read the whole book, it seems to me that there wasn't enough material to make a whole book out of it, so adding various point of views beefed it up. If the story was going to be told in more than two point of views, then Alyssa would have been better off writing in the omniscient point of view even though it would have messed up the pattern in all the novels as in they're all written in first person.
Then there was the romance. It was all nice and sweet, but it wasn't the best like I had previously thought it was. Alyssa hasn't disappointed me in the past... but now it's a different story. And then when it came to the steamy sex scenes... I didn't really feel anything anymore. It was all just... there. It didn't make me blush or feverish like her past books have done. It was almost like the passion wasn't there. Or maybe it was, but it wasn't communicated well enough. In retrospect, the book seemed very focused on the plot. There's nothing wrong with that. But the sex and romance just didn't blend in as naturally as it should have been. One second the characters were worried about Tiffany and then the next they're going at it like rabbits. It was like Alyssa was trying to keep the steamy sex scenes and romance going, but it wasn't working out.
Also, as far as the sex scenes went, I feel like I've heard it all before now. What Toby did and how he grabbed her. How he kissed and how Casey felt. Yeah yeah, I get it. Toby's packin' a lot of heat and he's gifted in bed. What it lacked was use of creative and descriptive writing and an even more profound emotional connection at times.
Overall, the book didn't have much plot and it lacked in several areas. It was really meh. So I guess I'll have to give this three stars.
Alyssa Rose Ivy's paranormal series The Crescent Chronicles and it's spin-off series, The Empire Chronicles are, in my opinion, one of the best kept secrets available in new adult paranormal romance. I have loved each and every novel and the characters all hold a special and very memorable place in my heart and mind. Stay, the third book in the Empire Chronicles picks up where Search leaves off. Jared finds himself in a very precarious position because he is the only one who has the answers that can save Levi, Allie and The Society as a whole, yet little does he know that the only one who can save him is Casey's sister Vera. We met Vera in Search and I immediately loved her. She is, as one of the other characters in the series, Owen, puts it, "the female version of Jared." The chemistry between the two of them is off the charts, yet they try their best to stay away from each other. The banter between them provides for some really entertaining reading. We also get a lot more of Casey and Toby in this installment as they both play a big role in the novel. There is also more of the other characters we've come to know and love, Levi and Allie, Hailey, Owen, and we get to meet several new characters also.
The paranormal aspect of the story is creative and Alyssa Rose Ivy has put her own twist around the concept of shifters, creating the whole Society concept, which I've found to be extremely entertaining and fresh. She also delivers in the romance department, which is something she does well in all her books. As things come together for Casey and Toby in this installment, the groundwork is also laid for more excitement, romance, and action for Toby and Vera in the next installment, Savor, and I can't wait to read it.
If you are a fan of paranormal romance, I can't encourage you enough to make the time for this series. It is fabulous and definitely one of my favorites.
I received this book for an honest review. I am a giant fan of the original series and this spin off. I didn't like Toby in original but have grown to love him soooo very much in this one. Jared, I have loved in every book until the last book when he became a total jerk face.....harsh words right?? LOL Stuck in the middle of the pull between the two males is our Casey. She has had a hard couple days in this book. Casey finds out about her conception, her mom, a cray cray witch and her spells, her "dads" (yes plural) and her family responsibilities. Man, It’s been very very busy for her but Toby has stayed right by her side no matter what. Even though they are both "the same" and those kind of relationships are not "allowed", they won’t let it stop them from loving each other. This love is what gives Casey the strength to deal with the drama of the book head on. I missed Levi and Allie but loved when we did see them in the book. I also am looking forward to meeting Cade in future novels. He is going to be a naughty playboy I suspect!! Owen!!! When will our favorite brooding male get a love interest?? Can we throw him in Daria's pathway?? Hailey!!?? When will she meet her future love? or has she??? Is there a Bear in her future?? Maybe? I felt that this book was a bit slower BUT it is because there is sooo much going on and alot of things are building for the next books. I am really excited for the next reads because Jared and Vera need to explore some "stress relief" plus he needs to figure out his family troubles. I am really excited for Jared's book which will be next I am guessing. He is a great character who does get caught up in STUPID but Vera keeps him in check 110%.
Stay is the third installment in the Empire Chronicles and after that crazy ending in Search, I was eager to see what would happen to Casey and the gang. So many secrets are revealed in Stay and the truth of Casey's past and family comes to light. This book focuses more on the bears and you don't see as much Pteron action as before, but that was fine. Learning about the bears and their way of life was pretty fascinating. As far as bad guys go, I kind of suspected who it was, but I just didn't realize how deep or how long it went on. Alyssa did a great job with her twists and turned and definitely kept it interesting for me.
Easily the best parts of this book revolved around Toby and Casey. I really love them as a couple. Toby cares so much for Casey and I liked that he could offer her that sense of security and stability, especially now when her life is filled with such chaos. Some might think he comes on pretty strong, but I think that's just par for the course with these Pteron boys. They love and live fiercely. It's part of their charm. Toby and Casey pretty much make a decision on the fate of their relationship in this book and I liked the direction that Alyssa took it in.
Alyssa left the ending of Stay pretty wide open and I'm dying to know how things turn out for Vera and Jared. I was hoping to get more of their relationship in this book, but I guess Stay was more for Casey than anything else. My poor Jared! He may be a jerk most of the time, but he has a good heart. I just want to see him get his HEA. As usual, I breezed right through this book. Alyssa's writing just does that to me. While this wasn't as captivating as the rest of her books have been for me, I still enjoyed it and am looking forward to seeing how it all ends.
Now, while I am usually a big gusher over this series and its predecessor series, I just could not find it in me to love it- love it. But I did enjoy it. Maybe it was the many POVs. 4 total. I do not recall that many before in the series. I understand it was needed at times to get the story across. But also at times it had me confused. (This could be due to my pregnancy brain. Who knows?) Or maybe it was the relationship between Vera and Jared. I just wasn't feeling them. I don't know if it is because I really lost interest in them as a whole...or if I really love Casey and Toby more.
Want to know what I loved about the story? I adored Casey and Toby and absolutely loved their scenes together. I felt it really added to the story. They had a lot going on in their lives and I found it extremely interesting to read. Also, as usual, I was also excited to see Levi and Allie again. Can never get enough of Levi. So much love for him.
And yes, even though I really wasn't all that intrigued with Vera and Jared, I have a feeling some major, huge, extraordinary things are on the horizon for them in the next book. Trust me, you will get this feeling too when you read the book. I look forward to what will happen next with them.
So, if you are reading this review, hopefully you have read the first two books in the series and you are trying to decide if you want to read this one. And while that answer should be a given, because this series is amazing. My answer is most definitely YES! While it wasn't my favorite of the series, I still really liked it. I am still giving it 4 stars. I am still eager to read the next one. So I hope you will pick it up and read it too!
I really enjoyed this book. I thought it was the best of the series so far. I liked that this book was from multiple POV’s. I really enjoyed that Casey and Toby finally got together, as I think they’re awesome for each other. I liked how Jared and Vera annoy the sh*t out of each other but that’s totally part of their charm. Owen was correct when he said that Vera is totally the girl version of Jared. I think they both need someone who challenges them as they’d be completely bored otherwise so I’m really looking forward to how that turns out for both of them especially the quest they’re both going on at the end of the book. I enjoyed getting to know Vera and Casey more and loved how Casey found her inner strength with the help of Toby calling to her subconscious to get rid of the magic that was placed by Tiffany that allowed her to control Casey’s mind then get rid of the rest of the Royal Family so Casey would become Queen therefore Tiffany could be in control of the Society. Man, this book was full with a lot of twists. I’m glad they worked out who betrayed the Laurents and the Society to obtain the power. Both Tiffany and her accomplice did all they did because they were angry at Robert about him choosing Helen. I loved seeing how far Jared and Vera would go for the people they care about. The same could be said for Owen and Hailey. I’d recommend this book, series and author to everyone.
This story ended leaving me to read the next book soon but it wasn't as bad as someone just being thrown off the Empire State Building. I'll call it a mild cliffhanger.
Spoiler alerts probably
Casey and Tobey are just sickening in love. It was almost too much.
Basically, chaos abounds. Everyone is chasing after everyone else. So much happened in the book that I'm having a hard time putting it all together. The Boss inflicts some dark controlling mojo on Casey. It makes her tired are the time. Toby is always at her side except when she was kidnapped. Jared and Vera are at each other's throats for most of the book. They get stuck in a cave together. Levi and Allie are on a deserted island together. Owen isn't around much in this book. Every time Owen and Jared are together they bicker. They don't seem to like each other at all. Casey gets to spend time with her mom and meets her mate. Georgina plays a big roll in the book trying to put all the pieces together. Robert disappears. Tiffany, Allie and Hailey's college friend is The Boss and created this whole mess.
This book was in four POVs. That's why I can't wrap my head around the timeline of events too much. There was too much going on simultaneously. It's all happy in the end for the most part.
There were two points of views that I really cared about and that was Toby and Jared, I missed those boys, I always miss my Pteron boys. I mean Toby he sometimes needs his woman's forceful ways to get him to do things, "she glanced over her shoulder. "I told you yes." I didn't need her to tell me for a third time. I shed my boxers and hurried after her into the shower." He's also willing to sacrifice his body to make sure his girl gets good grades, "so what you're saying is we're going to have to have sex before all your exams when you start school again." Jared he's still cocky no matter what situation he's in, "and we're talking about my d*** again. A little fixated?" He's also always thinking with the little head where Verra is concerned, "you can't start talking about my d*** and tongue and licking your lips like that and expect me to concentrate on anything." My jeans had moved beyond uncomfortable." As the book moved on I grew less interested in Toby and Casey and more interested in what was going on with Jared and Verra.
I love and adore Alyssa's books. Every single one of them brings a smile on my face. They are fun, making you smile and cry at the same time.
Stay is a third book in Empire Chronicles series. It shows POV of 4 different characters and it is brilliant. In this book we can see that all bad things were started much earlier than we thought and are much darker!
Jared, oh my, he is one sexy guy. If I could I would like to keep him! My heart broke for him, but at the same time he found someone to be there for him.
Casey and Toby's story has been nicely wrapped up by Alyssa, but I'm sure we will see them again.
And of course my fav couple showed up and Levi as always brought a stupid grin on my face.
I would recommend any of Alyssa's books as they are simply brilliant and fun.
Stay is another great book by Alyssa Rose Ivy. Once again you are sucked into the paranormal world of The Society. Your favorite characters are back and she introduces you to some new characters. The new characters are equally as interesting and paves the way for new Chronicles. This story mainly continues the storyline of Casey, Toby, and Jared. Casey and Toby search for answers to Casey's birth. While Jared and Casey's sister- Vera search for answers to where Levi and Allie has disappeared. The love and devotion Toby shows Casey is sweet. I wish there was a little more smut in this book. Jared and Vera emit a sexual tension that I look forward to reading in the next installment of Empire. There are some jaw dropping moments toward the end that'll definately keep you salivating for more of the Society. Can't wait to see how it all ties together.
Magical doesn't even begin to cover this story! Book three in the Empire Chronicles Soared over my expectations! The love between Casey and Toby is beautiful. The budding relationship between Jared and Vera is full of sarcasm and hilarious! Full of twists and moments that will stop your heart, this is a read that will have you on the edge of your seat. I read this in one sitting, rushing to the end, but praying it wouldn't end! I would give it a hundred stars if I could.
"Spend your life with me Casey. Be with me from now until forever. I don't care what you want to call it: wife, mate, soul mate. Anyway you put it, I just want you with me. Always with me."
Obviously I was drawn to these series by the simple fact that the first series is about New Orleans, The Crescent City. As it turned out this fairly romantic, highly pornographic, supernatural/paranormal series actually has a pretty good storyline at it's base. I love the Pteron creature's and I've tried to find some lore about them but have failed to find anything so far. Admittedly I'm not yet impressed by the Allure Chronicles but we'll just have to see what's going to happen in the upcoming books. So far I'm a fan but I do have a fear of reaching the point where this series will be dragged on instead of finished off with a decent ending.

I have a young child and I still getting t throw soar search and stay in less then 3days there was never a moment I got bored and I got to know every person in the book in there own way I like that the book switch points of view like that and it some points in this book I was following how two different groups were learning the same story and worrying about each other and being split up the only thing the could have made it better was getting here a chapter by her mom and her new found brother
I never read crescent chronicles but started with the empire series about Toby and. Casey and I stayed hooked!! I love that even though I didn't start with allies and Levi I've grown to love them through Casey's story and now I can't wait to hear about Vera and Jared!!! I can't wait ton of course still see how CAsey and Toby continue but I'm excited for that sexually chArged Jared n Vera!! AlyssA has be home my number 1 author because every book is different but has her same style and Never disappoints!!!
