The story itself was captivating, but the way it was written drove me crazy. The use of the English language and proper grammar is nearly nonexistent. It's hard to stay in the story when so many times, over and over, the wrong word or phrase is used, or a sentence is structured poorly. Good story, but I'm not sure I'll be reading the other books. We'll see.

WARNING: THIS BOOK HAS A TRIGGER WARNING FOR RAPE, PROSTITUTION, ABUSE, ETC. PLEASE DON'T READ IF YOU ARE SENSITIVE TO THOSE TOPICS OR ARE NOT MATURE ENOUGH TO HANDLE THIS TYPE OF CONTENT. IT IS EXPLICITLY GRAPHIC.

This book is...hmm...graphic to say the least. A girl forced into prostitution is obviously something that isn't a light subject, and this book did not sugar coat anything. I appreciate the use of descriptions to show how brutal the industry is, but sometimes it seemed out of place. I feel like it was graphic to the point of pleasing someone's rape fantasies, which was the one big gripe I had about this book. The other thing was that there were some definite grammatical/spelling errors, which were annoying but still tolerable. Once I got past the halfway point, it became super intense, and a lot of twists were added to the story making it even more screwed up.

Overall, this book did keep my attention and kept me wanting more. I really did have intense emotions through most of this book, which I believe is a good thing even if they were negative emotions. It's a book that isn't easy to read, but unfortunately it is something that does happen. This book brings light to the prostitution/sex slave industry. I did enjoy the book (as morbid as that sounds), but just had a few issues with it, thus knocking down the rating a bit.

Jane's story was very disturbing and difficult to read. Especially her conflicted feelings towards her abuser.

However, It was also very realistic. From the way she was groomed and treated to the little things like trying to win her abuser over with kindness. Like trying to pat his shoulder or smile and he brushes her off and retaliates with horrible aggression just to turn and hug her when it suits him.

The sense of chaos in the story and the outsiders reactions, like her school teacher commenting she was tired made it very real. I wanted to cry.

Good for anyone who really wants to understand the realities of how child trafficking can come about and the victim's state of mind.

This book was so disturbing, however I could not put it down. I just wanted to cry through the whole book. I definitely have to read the next book - hoping for a good ending for Jane and her little sister Bree. This book would have received a better rating from me, had it not been for all the grammatical errors.

I was told this was a great book to open my eyes to the horror of child slavery. It was. But it was not an easy read, super disturbing and kinda wish I hadn't read it

Good Idea For A Story, But Poorly Written

I must say, this is the most poorly written story that I have ever had the displeasure of reading. The grammar and word usage are so awful that I question whether English is this author's first language. It was excruciating to read because of those points. I like the idea of the story. It's something different. I won’t be reading the others in this series, however.

This is probably the most poorly written book I have read in my life. The author has no business publishing this, if she can't be bothered to have someone review her work. As it is, you can barely understand what is going on because of the writing. In addition, the sexual violence in this feels gratuitous.

Unbelievable life for Jane. How can people do this kind of stuff? Sick, sick, sick. U no longer look at prostitutes/bookers in the same way and I wonder what brought her to live this livd. Do they need help? Are they being sold against them will? How can society help them? I feel very sad and bewildered.

Should have been proofread though. Lots of grammatical errors.

A nice surprise

Not many books make me wish it was not ending. One of the better books I do not normally read but will look forward to the next one.

HUSH By Sandra Raine
A Review By Nicole D'Settemi

This book begins with a young, naive, "quiet beauty" of sorts, getting entangled with a sister and brother duo, which is where the trouble begins. Her so-called girl-"friend" Tanya, provides the narrator with a glimmer of hope in becoming a popular girl, by befriending and hanging out with her regularly, something she never expected or predicted would happen. The thrill of being friends with the popular crew causes our poor, passive "Jane" into sleeping with Dominic--Tanya's brother. She begins spending her every waking moment with them, in an upper-crust home, with all three from wealthy parents. Jane has never questioned how her family generates so much, regarding physical reality, nor Tanya's parents, until everything takes a turn in a very unlikely direction. Jane, who sleeps with Dominic nearly every day for 2-3 weeks straight, is coerced into a world she never believed possible--or that even really existed in the first place. Dominic and Tanya invite her to a frat party, where all hell breaks loose. Jane is forced to sleep with three different men after being roofied, and it doesn't stop there. The horrific rape is just the beginning of sordid tale, of a handful of corrupt families who would sell their own children up the river for a few bucks.
Much to Jane's dismay, being gang-banged and raped isn't the only horror. After she is brutally raped and photographed in a car, with Tanya the photographer, she is blackmailed by the three of them, who forces her into a sex-slave ring. Dominic becomes her main "pimp" and abuses her in every way plausible until he starts falling in love with Jane.
What we are given hints of throughout the novel, is that Jane isn't just another "plain Jane." Jane is actually special. Very special. In the worst way possible. And when the sex slave ring spins out of control, we are shown the master of the ring, much to our horror--her very own father!
The book has punctuation and grammatical issues, as noted, but the story-telling is very good. It's impressive and ballsy, especially for an independent author to publish. The story's ending is probably the most troubling area for most, as it leaves us shipwrecked with no savior. No happy ending, only a fraction of a glimmer of hope. Yet, an ending like this is exactly what makes a book most memorable.

Great read.

Tragic and heartbreaking but I couldn't nor did I want to tear my eyes away. Not many books give me a hangover but this one did. Do not read this if you are faint hearted. This book is about forced sex of a teen(and soo much more). This is not an erotic read. This world can be a sick place sometimes and this book put some things in perspective for me. I know stuff like this exist but the author really painted quite a picture for me. There is a real sickness out there that prey on young girls and boys. I thought this book was really good. It will stick with me for a long time.My heart is immediately captivated by Jane and having read the blurb I know what's gona happen to her. She see's warning signs but she's 14 doesn't understand them. Just when I think it can't get any worse it does. So I figure ok its got to start getting better now but it gets so much worse. These were supposed to be the people she trusted! By the end I realize that everyone has a will to live but why doesn't she just end it? What little messed up happiness she has is taken from her.

The grammar was very off. Aside from that, WHEW, this book pulled no punches. It's nothing short of horrifying, and the protagonist is only 14. There is content warning for every possible crime against women and girls, and every form of abuse that you can imagine, from emotional abuse to literal torture. ALLLLLL of the trigger warnings apply! It's human trafficking so think drugging, torture, r*pe obviously happens many, manytimes, grooming, sexual abuse.

It is... certainly accurate... on love-bombing, however, and the other insidious ways that abusers get a firm hold on the victims.

It's EXTREMELY graphic... you need to muster a strong stomach for this one. To say "this book doesn't sugarcoat or fade to black" is an understatement. I am usually very good at separating myself from the story, but it was actually a little much for me. That said, however, it is a thing that unfortunately does happen in real life, much too often.

Also, the huge reveal at the end... Y I K E S. Of course, in hindsight, some of the signs were there, but the ending is next-level horrifying.

Jane, a teenager, is forced into prostitution. I was pained by what happened to Jane. The story is more of a horror story than most horror stories. Most of the characters are despicable, and depraved.

The story feels a bit repetitive for a while, and could have been shortened. The writing is atrocious with horrid grammar, misused words, and poorly formed structures, however, the writing might also be considered brilliant as it could be taken as the writing of a teenager who writes poorly and is under duress. Some parts of the story are difficult to believe, but not impossible. The ending is very good, although I knew it early on. There are 5 more books in this series.

This is a twisted tale of child prostitution and human trafficking. It follows Jane (who is 14) as she is groomed by Dominic to be his girlfriend, or so she thinks. Jane is then rename Diamond and blackmailed into "working" for Dom and his Cousins as their prized whore.
This was brutal at times. Rape and assault feature quite heavily. This is not easy reading and some may find it disturbing.

If you're into these twisted romance then give it a go. The writing isn't all that great (grammar issues and completely wrong use of phrases). I probably won't continue on with the series.

This book needs some major editing. I won't complain too much as it was only $0.99. This book was disturbing and sick. I knew they were all in it from the beginning, so the big reveal towards the end wasn't very surprising. The things Jane endured were horrific and twisted. I almost stopped reading this book because it was becoming a chore to continually read this stuff. I have the second book. I don't know if or when I will read it.

This would have easily been a 5 star book, but there were some editing issues. I was pissed off through most of this book. Feeling it... it was very good. That being said. this book is not for everyone. Please keep that in mind before you read it.

It is important to shed light on the horror of sex trafficking and young girls because it does exist. This book was graphic and disturbing, but I can handle that. It was also poorly written and obviously never edited, and I can not handle that.
