The Parenting Book I’m Giving My Daughter (So I Don’t Have to Lecture) I was glad to see the author say that authoritative parenting is “the gold standard.” That was the style of parenting I practiced. Because of that, I’m passing this book on to my daughter, who just had a baby—an easy way to share parenting wisdom without becoming the nagging, helicopter grandma. Also, I appreciated the chapter on divorce and co-parenting. As a foster parent, this section felt important. The book is also relevant for grandparents who are raising their grandchildren. The author also offers a newsletter through her website, which is a nice bonus for those who want continued encouragement and guidance. Overall, I really appreciated this book.
Parenting is the best and most important job in the world. In this book, the author wishes to reiterate the fact that parents are usually just what their children need at any given time. I love the format of the book, where there are newsletters to parents who are giving their all an trying their best. There’s a little humor and lots of wisdom here.
