Fish Phillips builds his “Altered Demons” omnibus his protagonists character arc. Dee's abilities and her terminal illness pull in opposite directions, making her simultaneously a solution and a countdown to catastrophe. The political machinery – Defense projects, rival foundations, US-China brinkmanship – occasionally gets dense enough to bury momentum. But Dee’s moral core holds. Winning ugly is the only kind of winning on offer, and from the beginning you know no one’s getting off lightly. It’s a story about power and the price of wielding it, rendered with skill, tension, and a good nose for genre and craft.

July 21, 2026This was a really well done scifi thriller novel, I was invested from the first page and thought the overall concept worked well in creating a good technothriller novel. I enjoyed that this was the complete collection, and thought the overall journey worked in this collection. I appreciated getting to go on the complete journey and enjoyed how good Fish Phillips wrote this.

This book is a very fast read. I really enjoyed it. I would this book.
