I love the Bradley family and I didn’t know what to expect with Liam - but he delivered over and over again in this book. The one night stand with his sisters bestie turns into way more than either he or Penny bargained for. I love how he showed up for her over and over again - and her boys. I wasn’t sure how Izzy fit in but I liked how it all worked out. I love this family and how they each found love - lisa Suzanne knows how to write a great love story. And the spice!? Yes please for the dirty talking football player. Highly recommend!

Absolutely loved this! It had some of my favorite tropes in it, like accidental pregnancy and single mom. The chemistry between Liam and Penny is undeniable, making you crave more and more of their story

Backup Plan brings us back to the Bradley family for Liam's story, and once again Lisa Suzanne delivers an emotional sports romance filled with heart, family, and characters you can't help but root for. Having loved every previous installment, I had high expectations going in, and this book absolutely didn't disappoint.

Liam and Penny are incredibly lovable together. What starts as one unexpected night quickly evolves into a relationship built on friendship, trust, and genuine emotional support. Their chemistry feels effortless, but what really sold me was how naturally their relationship developed. Nothing felt rushed, and watching them slowly become each other's safe place made the romance all the more rewarding.

This isn't just a love story between two adults. Penny's two young boys become an important part of the relationship, and seeing Liam bond with them completely stole my heart. Those quieter family moments gave the story so much warmth and made Liam an even more endearing hero.

Lisa Suzanne once again creates characters who grow together, struggle together, and continually put the people they love first. There are several unexpected twists along the way that kept me invested, but the emotional core of the story always remains front and center.

And honestly... every time I return to the Bradley family, it feels like coming home.

What I Loved

✔️ Sweet, caring hero who falls first
✔️ Single-mom romance done beautifully
✔️ Liam's relationship with Penny's sons
✔️ Emotional story with several unexpected twists
✔️ Strong family dynamics throughout
✔️ Bradley family cameos
✔️ Romance built on trust and friendship

🎧 Narration

Performed in dual narration by Bridget Bordeaux and Ryan Lee Dunlap.

This audiobook was an absolute joy to listen to.

Bridget Bordeaux continues to amaze me with how effortlessly she switches between characters. There were moments where I genuinely forgot I was listening to dual narration because her male voice is just that convincing. She perfectly captured Penny's emotional journey, balancing vulnerability, strength, and warmth throughout.

Ryan Lee Dunlap was everything I wanted for Liam. He brought such an easygoing sweetness to the character while still delivering all the emotional moments beautifully. His performance made Liam impossible not to fall in love with.

Together, they created fantastic chemistry that elevated an already wonderful romance into an audiobook I'd happily recommend.

Final Thoughts

Backup Plan is another wonderful addition to The Bradley Legacy. It perfectly balances romance, family, emotional healing, and a few surprising twists without ever feeling overly dramatic. Liam is one of those genuinely good heroes you can't help but adore, and watching him become part of Penny's little family was easily my favorite part of the story.

If you enjoy football romances with single moms, heroes who fall first, found-family vibes, emotional growth, lovable kids, and a romance built on trust rather than unnecessary drama, Backup Plan is absolutely worth adding to your TBR.

Liza Suzanne has done it again! Backup Plan is everything I love in a romance—emotional, heartfelt, full of angst, and packed with characters you can't help but root for.

Liam Bradley has spent his entire life feeling like the backup plan. As a second-string NFL quarterback and the youngest Bradley sibling, he's constantly battling the feeling that he'll never be anyone's first choice. Watching him finally find someone who sees him for exactly who he is made this story so rewarding.

Penny was such a strong and relatable heroine. She's in the middle of a painful divorce, still living with her manipulative soon-to-be ex while trying to protect her two young boys. When she unexpectedly reconnects with Liam, her best friend's younger brother during a chance night out, what was supposed to be one unforgettable night turns into something so much deeper. Their chemistry was undeniable from the beginning, but it was the emotional connection between them that really stole my heart.

One of my favorite parts of the book was watching Liam naturally step into Penny's life with her boys. He wasn't trying to replace anyone, but he simply loved them, and they became a family long before anyone was willing to admit it. The secret relationship added just the right amount of tension without feeling overdone.

Then Liza absolutely ripped my heart out.

Just when Liam and Penny finally seem to have found happiness, Liam discovers that a one-night stand resulted in a pregnancy. Isabella's decision to let Liam raise the baby rather than place the child for adoption completely changes the course of his life. Add in his trade to a new team and Penny's vindictive ex using the pregnancy against them during the divorce, and the heartbreak was almost unbearable. Liam ending the relationship to protect Penny was devastating because you could feel how deeply they loved each other.

Thankfully, Penny finally realizes what truly motivates her ex, money and control and makes the ultimate sacrifice by giving up any claim to child or spousal support in exchange for full custody and the freedom to relocate. It was such a powerful moment that showed just how fiercely she loves her children.

The ending was everything I wanted. Liam embracing fatherhood while realizing that Penny and her boys were the family he truly wanted made for such a satisfying happily ever after. Watching them become a blended family with Liam's newborn was incredibly heartwarming.

This book perfectly balances romance, family, second chances, found family, and emotional growth. Liam's journey from always feeling like second best to finally becoming someone's first choice was beautifully written, and Penny was the perfect partner for him.

If you've been following The Bradley Legacy, Liam's story is absolutely worth the wait. It's emotional, swoony, and filled with all the heart that has made this series so addictive. I laughed, cried, stressed, and smiled my way through every chapter.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An emotional, family-centered romance that proves sometimes your backup plan turns out to be exactly the life you were meant to have.

Book 6 in the Bradley Legacy

This was a fun, flirty, passionate fueled journey.
Steamy, "forbidden", tension filled and emotionally charged, Liam & Penny will have you begging for more from the very beginning. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll definitely scream in frustration but mostly you'll be rooting for these two from the very start. With high heat and intense chemistry these two will absolutely set you on fire!!!

Fate has a way of finding you when you least expect it and for these two, it's about to strike! A man walks into a bar and two lives are turned completely upside down and inside out, in the most delicious of ways...

Unsigned Free Agent Quarterback, Liam Bradley, is looking for a landing spot after being released from his rookie contract. With his life in turmoil and the unknown breathing down his neck, this irresistibly delicious man is determined more than ever to prove himself. Type A to his core, even more changes in his life are about to have him questioning everything that he ever thought he knew about himself or wanted out of life. Fiercely protective, endearingly sweet and all shades of charming, he'll have you swooning every chance he gets just by being himself.

A year after her husband embarrassed her by cheating for the whole world to see, Penny Calloway is still dealing with the fallout. Between a nasty, drawn out divorce, still living with her soon to be ex, working full time and parenting two very active little boys essentially on her own, she's at the end of her proverbial rope. Beautiful both inside and out, she's sweet yet fierce, loyal to a fault, prideful and extremely independent, so when she runs into her best friend's little brother and he offers her a place to stay, she's hesitant to say "yes"... Until she isn't.

Just like Stella, Penny has lost her groove and Liam is all too happy to help her find it! One hot, steamy night will lead these two down a path that neither expected. 'Hiding' in plain sight. Stolen moments. Heated glances. Giving into the temptation only makes them crave it even more. And as her chaotic little family descends upon Liam's quiet, orderly life, he finds himself quickly falling. Not only for Penny, but for her little boys too. Yet as feelings begin to grow into so much more, so do the doubts. Are they willing to lose everything by stepping out of the shadows? And with Liam now set to leave, could they make it work being so far apart? After all, she can't leave and he can no longer stay.

With twists and turns you won't see coming, the sparks are absolutely flying between these two from the very beginning... With so much heart and heat, against the odds, and a little detour along the way, these two will fight hard for their forever and it's oh, so sweet.

Take the journey. You won't regret it. The risk is so worth the reward as these two are absolute end game perfection!!

The Bradley "Legacy" strikes again...yet this time we have healing, reconciliation and the building of a whole new future... Together.

Backup Plan, part of the Bradley Legacy series by Lisa Suzanne, shines the spotlight on Liam Bradley, the youngest member of the family, and Penny Calloway, the best friend of Liam's older sister, Everleigh.

What I loved most about this story is that both Liam and Penny are genuinely kind, generous people. Their biggest flaw isn't selfishness...it's that they're constantly putting everyone else's needs ahead of their own. That made them incredibly relatable and easy to root for.

Although this is a football romance, don't expect a lot of sports action. Liam is between teams for most of the story, so the focus stays firmly on the romance and the characters' personal journeys. The drama is relatively low-stakes, making this a sweet, comforting read that's perfect if you're looking for something heartwarming without a lot of stress or angst.

I think this story resonated with me because I also tend to be a giver, sometimes at my own expense. I love seeing people succeed, and both Liam and Penny share that same selfless nature. Penny is navigating a difficult divorce while trying to support her two children on a modest income. Liam, who comes from a financially secure family, offers her and her children a place to stay in his condo while she gets back on her feet. His kindness never feels transactional...it simply reflects who he is.

Of course, living together means sparks begin to fly. But is starting a relationship during Penny's divorce the right move? And what would it mean for her friendship with Everleigh if she started dating her best friend's younger brother? To avoid complicating things, Liam and Penny decide to keep their growing relationship a secret. As it turns out, though, they aren't the only ones hiding something. I'll leave those surprises for you to discover because they're best experienced without spoilers!

The romance has several spicy scenes throughout the book, but they're brief and not overly explicit. If you typically hesitate to pick up romances because of steamy content, this one strikes a fairly balanced approach.

Overall, Backup Plan is a warm, feel-good romance about two compassionate people learning that it's okay to let someone care for them, too. If you're looking for a sweet friends-to-lovers romance with lovable characters, family dynamics, a touch of forbidden romance, and just enough drama to keep the pages turning, this is definitely one to add to your TBR!

Another wonderful story in this series by Lisa Suzanne and I still can't decide which is my favourite Bradley brother.
This is younger brother Liam Bradley's story and does he have a story..He's a Football player a quarterback...But he is always on the sidelines because he is always the back up Quarterback,he has been let go by his team and is waiting for a team to give him a chance, that team happens to be in San diego.
Penny is going through a bitter divorce, she has 2 children boys Benji and Sammy she is best friends with Liams sister. She needs a place to live so she can get away from her soon to be ex husband's cruelty.
They randomly bump into one another at a bar and chat and have a few drinks together, they are both going through big changes in their lives and take this one random meeting,to have a passionate night together.Getting lost in eachother for one night..But that one night changes EVERYTHING.
Liam offers her the option to move in with him until she finds a place of her own.
She excepts because she has no choice.
Liam is so freaking sexy and so sweet the way he interacts with Penny's boys is swoon and the way he is attentive to Penny OMG he is perfection.Except he doesn't do relationships apparently but Penny changes all of that, and under her spell he really does change as they embark on a secret relationship.
This is an age gap romance as Penny is 7 years older than Liam, not that you will notice the differences in age.Liam will do anything for Penny and give her anything.
I liked the honesty and vunerability that Liam showed when his feelings for Penny and her boys became apparent.
Penny is going through alot and she is a great mum to her boys, she is also very strong..Liam also changes her she learns what real love is and to ask for what she wants and needs...but her divorce is a shadow in her and Liam's growing relationship.
It does feel like there is everything against them, circumstances, distance, secrets and lies all getting in their way.
Narration is brilliant by Ryan Lee Dunlap and Bridget Bordeaux whose expressive portrayal of the characters in this story is exceptional,I really loved listening to them both, and relished their vocal storytelling.
Lisa Suzanne has written another compelling book and I am enjoying this series so much Back up Plan is a Fantastic edition to The Bradley Legacy.
Loved listening.

Backup Plan
By Lisa Suzanne

The Bradley family has had it’s share of trouble. Thomas, the father, has involved his sons in some shady deals in a misguided attempt at legacy of the Bradley name. Recently, their mom passed away from cancer. The Bradley boys; Madden, Dex, Ford, Archer and Liam, are football and baseball players. There are two daughters Everleigh and Ivy.
This story is about the youngest son, Liam. Liam was playing his rookie season with Pittsburgh as the backup Quarterback. He was gone from practice and late many times due to his mother’s hospitalization and subsequent death. As a result, they did not renew his contract and now he is hoping another team will pick him up. It looks bleak. He seems to be always someone backup plan, never considered first. He is twenty-six years old and feels he is at a loose end. He lives in Chicago where he grew up. He leaves his penthouse and decides to go to the local tavern for a drink and some dinner, perhaps to make plans for a future.
Penny Wade Calloway is Everleigh’s best friend. Everleigh is Liam’s older sister, about 6-7 years older. She is going through a painful divorce. She has been married for eight years and together with Brent for over ten years. They have two children, Benji and Sami. Brent was found cheating and does not seem to care about the children.
Liam walks into the local tavern and sees Penny. They have a fun catching up and they talk about Everleigh’s coming wedding. Liam impulsively offers his penthouse as a place for Penny and the children to live while the divorce proceeds. As they drink, things turn steamy and they indulge in a one-night stand, but is it?
Liam falls for Penny and the children almost immediately. He then gets an offer from the San Diego Storm. How could this work, he will be leaving soon. Penny cannot come with him with the pending divorce. What if Everleigh finds out she is sleeping with her younger brother? What about their friendship?
This book was a fun one to read. Penny and Liam both deserve to be the first choice. There are so many variables that keep you reading (way past my bed time). The steam is awesome. The characters are interesting. There are unexpected events. I love Liam and Penny and the family they have created.

I would give this book a million starts if I could because I just loved it so much!

I knew Liam Bradley was going to try to steal Dex and Archer’s first place in my heart, and he did it😭🩵 he totally did it!! He’s just so perfect! The way he bonded with Penny’s boys just instantly and how he learned to love them and taking care of them was so beautiful 🥹 and how he was willing to protect them and Penny even if that meant breaking his own heart and letting them go even for just a bit 😩😭🩵 he’s a care giver by heart and the moment he knew he was in love with Penny, was the moment he was willing to do anything for her and her boys 😭 since spoiling them to be there making sure they have enough Lego sets 🥹🙊 I just love him! I have anything else to say about him, because even when he chose the noble thing to do and tried to stay away from Penny even when that hurt them all, his intentions were pure and solely to protect them 😩🩵

And my girl Penny! I loooooove her! She’s just so brave and strong and resilient for her kids, she never thought she could fall in love again after being disappointed by her ex husband, but when Liam stood up for her and her boys she realized she just was with the wrong person, because Liam showed her she was worth of loving, and worth of fighting for, and not just for her but her boys too, she’s the greatest mom ever and I love that she get her HEA finally 😭🩵 oh and the moment she knew that sweet girl? (I’m not saying anything else about this because I don’t want to spoil anything) that melted my heart 😩🩵 because Liam and her made just the perfect family and they knew it 🥹🩵

I just loved this book so much and it’s hands down my favorite book in the series 🩵 I have nothing else to say but thank you to author Lisa Suzanne and Valentine PR for continuing trusting in me and giving me the chance to get the arcs of this series ✨🩵

I can’t wait for Ivy’s book! But I know already it will be bittersweet because is the last book!! And I don’t want this series to end 😭😩

But yes, I can’t wait to read it because I’m sensing it’s going to be messy and intense and just perfect 🙂‍↕️✨

Yet another fantastic instalment in the Bradley Legacy series. Back up Plan is book 6 and the penultimate book in this surprisingly emotional sports romance books.

Liam is the youngest son of the 7 Bradley children and has always felt he hasn’t quite measured up. I mean it must be hard when all your elder brothers as in professional sports teams, Liam is not on the starting line and having just been dropped by his home team, he is beginning to wonder what’s next for him.

Penny is just about holding everything together whilst divorcing her thoroughly unpleasant cheating husband, whilst still living in the same house as him and being the primary carer of their two sons, whilst holding down a full time job. She misses her best friend Everleigh as she is getting married and moving away.

Penny decides to stop and have a well earned drink after a long day, when in walks Liam, Everleigh’s little brother. They get to chatting and have dinner, getting on really well together, then the flirting starts. Both think this can’t go anywhere due to their relationships to Everleigh.
Yeah well after a few drinks, maybe that’s not an issue or concern for the night.

Penny has the best night of her life and Liam offers for her and her sons to move in to his place so she doesn’t have to stay living with her ex. Which happens the very next day.

Liam can’t believe the night he had with Penny and doesn’t even second guess his suggestion they move in. He’s just been offered a chance in San Diego and thinks that as he won’t be there, it makes sense. BUT, they’re not going to Ev about it as it was just a one time thing. Or so they thought.

We follow the two of them fall in love, deal with several outside issues, from ex husbands, to criminal investigations into a parent, to an unexpected baby.

I wasn’t sure what to expect with Liam and although he has previously been mentioned throughout the series, it hasn’t been much, but he did not disappoint.

I would absolutely recommend it and cannot wait for the final book in this series.

I received an advance reader copy of this book, and I’m delighted to share my honest review.

Another Bradley sibling! This time, we get a closer look into Liam’s life. He’s the one who had to primarily deal with his father while simultaneously juggling his football career. Now, he’s in Chicago and currently unsigned to a team. So, imagine his surprise when he heads out to a regular bar one night and runs into his sister’s best friend, Penny.

We first met Penny during Everleigh’s story, and now she’s going through a divorce after discovering her husband cheated on her while also caring for her two sons. This season of life hasn’t been easy for her, and even though Liam is younger than her, she decides to take a chance and enjoy one night with him. But Liam doesn’t stop there. He offers to let Penny and her children move into his place so she can get out of the house she’s currently sharing with her ex.

Then Liam gets the call to head to San Diego, where he finds himself being relegated to the backup position once again. As his career takes another turn, so do his feelings for Penny. Liam never thought he wanted children, but spending time with Penny and her boys fills a part of him he never knew was missing. So, when he has to leave for San Diego, he asks Penny and her children to come with him.

Of course, Penny’s divorce is complicated, and with everything happening within the Bradley family, Liam starts to worry that being together will only make things harder for her. He convinces himself that the best thing for both of them is to walk away. But despite their age difference, the complications surrounding them, and everything life keeps throwing their way, the love they’ve found may just be worth fighting for.

Liam is absolutely covered in green flags, and I loved watching him treat Penny with the love, patience, and respect she never received in her marriage. I’m loving getting to know each of the Bradley siblings, and Liam and Penny’s story was another fantastic addition to the series!

Liam Bradley is the star of this book and boy does his story make you sad this series is nearly finished. This book is full of emotion, angst and characters you can’t help but fall in love with. Love interest is Penny Calloway, best friend to Liam’s sister Everleigh. Romance is the last thing on her mind after being the middle of a messy divorce but one chance night with Liam might just prove her wrong.

I love these two together. They just gel and their one night evolves into a friendship then a relationship built on trust and chemistry. For me their relationship never felt rushed it was something that has come along naturally even though they feel the need to keep it a secret due to events happening in both their lives. Add in Penny’s two boys the bond Liam builds with them and this is a cute and loveable relationship that really kicks off when Liam offers them his spare room.

it wouldn’t be a Bradley book without a bit of drama and not in the form of Liam’s father, but an ex partner who drops a bombshell on him. Faced with reality Liam struggles to deal with the news and the fact that he is joining a new team in a new city possibly without Penny.

Penny gets her chance to shine in this book. She is an amazing mother and always puts her kids first, she even puts up with staying in the family home with her toxic ex while the divorce goes through until Liam offers her sanctuary at his house. She is one of those characters who you want the world to be right for and feel for her when her ex uses her living arrangements to his advantage in the divorce courts. She comes across as a genuine person who puts others before herself. I love how she evolves and finally gives her ex the comeuppance he deserves and the stability her kids need.

This book is the perfect addition to the series. It balances romance and family themes with a few twists and turns thrown in for measure. I love how Liam and Penny overcome these and try to protect each other and put each other first. It’s an emotional story of how found family should be.

If you love the other books then this is a must read. It can be read as a standalone but best read in series order to understand the family dynamics.

Liam has officially become my favorite Bradley. He blew me away with his love and care for Penny and her boys. He is the baby brother of the family and he is (to me) the smartest and best well rounded of the bunch. Even though he was the youngest boy of the family he shouldered a lot of the weight for alla of the Bradley Children. He was there for his mom and dad while all the others were away doing their own things. He never let it break him but you can see that he struggled the most with not having all the things he wanted and needed. Whe we first meet him, he does not even know if he wants to be a dad or settle down. He has known Penny all his life because of her being his older sisters best friend. They meet up by chance and they choose to spend an evening together. What was supposed to be a one night situation turns into more very quickly. Penny is going through a divorce from her ex and Liam offers her a place to stay to get away from him. Quiet moments at home turn into something real but can they overcome all the obstacles stacked against them? I love how Liam changed his mind about family and his future with every interaction he had. All those little moments added up and made him realize he was missing out on some great things in his life. He tries to be a good man and not allow himself to complicate Penny's life even when it is not in his best interest. They both have a lot of ups and downs in this book. Every interaction and set back is an opportunity for them to both grow and change with in their dynamic. Liam show that he is dependable and that he is not like her ex. He shows up in little ways. He is the textbook definition of the perfect book boyfriend. If you love a good sports romance with characters that are flawed but also real and true to life this book is for you. I love how this author always has great development of not only the story but the characters. You cannot help but fall in love with these characters.

Backup Plan by Lisa Suzanne is an emotional, high-heat sports standalone romance that proves the author just keeps getting better with every release. Featuring a fantastic mix of tropes including a single mom navigating an ugly divorce, an older sister's best friend dynamic, secret relationship stakes, and a protective hero who falls first, this novel delivers an addictive blend of heavy emotion and the author's spiciest work to date.

The story follows Penny, whose life gets completely derailed after a few drinks with pro football quarterback Liam Bradley leave her tangled in his sheets. As she tries to keep her world together for her two young boys while escaping her soon-to-be ex-husband, Liam steps in with the ultimate backup plan: a spare room in his penthouse. What starts as a convenient living arrangement quickly blurs lines as Liam bonds with her sons over video game tournaments and late-night cereal conversations. Though they try to keep their growing connection a secret to avoid a messy distraction, Liam is fighting to move past his status as a backup quarterback while Penny protects her family from a vindictive ex, all before a shocking late-stage twist involving another woman carrying Liam's child threatens to blow everything apart.

Full of unexpected plot turns, beautiful emotional growth, found family vibes, and plenty of dirty-mouthed banter, the story keeps readers guessing until the very end. The listening experience is absolute perfection, elevated by the brilliant narration of Bridget Bordeaux and Ryan Lee Dunlap. Bridget shines so brightly that you almost forget it's a dual narration—handling male voices with incredible skill—while Ryan is the absolute embodiment of Liam. Captivating, spicy, and deeply heartwarming, this football romance is an unforgettable hit.

“Somehow, someway. Out of nowhere, you are my stability.”

I swear every time I pick up a new installment in the Bradley Legacy series, I’m convinced it’s my new favorite—and Backup Plan absolutely proved that true again. Liam and Penny stole my whole heart from the very first page. Their story had that magnetic pull where you tell yourself you’ll read “just one more chapter,” and suddenly you’re halfway through the book because you physically cannot put it down.

Liam and Penny are two of the most selfless characters in the series. Liam has spent his entire life putting his family’s needs above his own, carrying the weight of their legacy on his shoulders. Penny, meanwhile, is navigating the emotional fallout of her impending divorce while fiercely protecting her kids and constantly sacrificing her own wants. Watching these two finally carve out a pocket of the world where they could breathe—where they could escape real life expectations and find something genuine—was beautiful. Their connection was something tender and unexpected that grew into something undeniably real.

The chemistry between them is off the charts. Their banter is flirty, spicy, and threaded with that delicious tension that makes you grin into the pages. But what really made their relationship shine was how naturally they cared for one another. Even with all the complications surrounding them, their bond felt effortless—like love had been waiting for them all along. Watching their relationship unfold was pure joy.

This book is emotional in the best way: layered, heartfelt, and full of moments that hit you right in the chest. I was fully in my feelings, flipping pages as fast as I could because I had to know where their story was headed.

And now? I’m counting down the days until Ivy gets her moment because I cannot wait to see how the Bradley Legacy concludes.

The baby brother of the Bradley siblings finally gets his chance to shine, and it was such an amazing book! Lisa absolutely nailed it with how easy and fun this book was to read, making it flawless and no fuss to enjoy it. Her books are always so smooth, and she absolutely has this way of making you fall in love with the characters.

Liam has always been second, the back up, the one who never gets the spotlight. Until he runs into his sister’s best friend, Penny. She’s a single mom of two rambunctious boys and currently going through a divorce. When her soon to be ex husband makes the living situation hard to handle, Liam offers her and her boys space at his place. Especially since he just got another offer to be backup QB in San Diego. After sharing a steamy night together, these two just can’t pretend the connection and magnetic pull they feel towards each other is anything but fate. These two have a natural chemistry that is easy and carefree, making it something Penny can appreciate finally — someone who knows how to love and take care of her and her boys. And she proves to Liam that to them, he’ll never come second. Their journey of pretending nothing is happening to finally getting their HEA is full of swoony moments, spicy and stolen moments, and ones that made their relationship feel real special.

As always, Lisa sprinkles some drama mixed in to her books, and this one was no exception. The drama only enhanced what was happening between Liam and Penny. And it definitely had me invested! I was completely surprised by news Liam finds out, but I am so happy with how the book turned out.

This is book 6 in the series, and at this point you have been introduced to everyone. But I believe it can be read as a standalone. The story mainly involves Penny and Liam, but you do get other character introductions throughout.

This was an ARC read for me and these are my honest opinions.

Liam and Penny's story was such a heartfelt romance centered around two people who constantly put everyone else before themselves.

🏈Liam's selflessness has already cost him once. After repeatedly flying home to Chicago to care for his sick mother and deal with his father's arrest, he is cut from his NFL football team.

☕️Penny is just as self-sacrificing. She's raising her two young boys while living in the home of her narcissistic soon-to-be ex-husband, working a job she's not keen on simply to provide for her boys. She carries every burden on her own and never asks for help, making it impossible not to root for her.

I loved how Liam and Penny (who also happens to be Liam's sister's best friend) unexpectedly connect after a night out. What begins as a one-night stand slowly grows into something so much deeper. When Liam offers Penny and her boys a safe place to live, it's clear that his feelings extend far beyond attraction. Watching him go from a carefree playboy to an all-in, dependable man who embraced both Penny and her boys was incredibly sweet. He was the ultimate golden retriever hero, and I adored how naturally he stepped into their lives.

Of course, their path isn't without obstacles. Liam accepts a backup quarterback position in San Diego just as Penny is navigating a difficult divorce, leaving their future in question. The emotional push and pull kept me invested as they figured out how to make their relationship work despite the distance, Penny's divorce, a surprise, and complicated timing.

🎧 The audiobook was wonderful. Bridget Bordeaux and Ryan Lee Dunlap absolutely brought Penny and Liam's story to life, capturing every emotional moment, tender interaction, and heartfelt connection. Their performances made an already sweet romance even more engaging.

Backup Plan
The Bradley Legacy 6
By Lisa Suzanne
Narrated by Ryan Lee Dunlap, Bridget Bordeaux

How fun is this book? The younger Bradley quarterback, always second in line and the one taking care of everything and everyone. Liam is a mess and one night, everything begins to turn around. Penny is in the middle of a nasty divorce and just wants a day without all the craziness. When she bumps into Liam, her best friend's brother, she didn't plan on going home with him. And the fun begins. She's older with 2 kids, he's trying to find a team to play on and feel comfortable with. She's doing her best to get away from her horrible ex, he's helping to hold the family together while going through their father's trial. Together, they are fire! Chemistry beyond belief! But as their feelings grown, where will it lead? Can she fall for her best friend's brother? What about the age gap? Will Liam love her kids? Will their dad let them go? This is a bumpy ride with just enough drama and a whole lot of spice. Plus I just love hanging out with this family. They are all in each other's business, having each other's back and it's a blast. Lisa Suzanne is a master at her craft and the Bradleys and their legacy are just a few of the wonderful stories I have enjoyed.

Ryan Lee Dunlap and Bridget Bordeaux bring this gem to life. Dunlap is a favorite, as he can adapt to any character. As Liam, he is passionate, loving and warm. and at the same time he is insecure, and a mess. I loved how he started him out kind of care free and used his voice to show his growth. Bordeaux is fantastic as Penny. Emotional, strong, maternal she pulls out all the stops when it comes to her feelings. Love her as a mama bear protecting her kids and just as easily spins into a sensual lover. These two are fantastic together and made for a wonderful listen.

This book feels different. From the opening page, the story comes across as genuine, and its characters are refreshingly selfless. Their needs are realistic and simple: each longs for a support system that believes in who they are, not merely what they represent. Liam is more than a professional football player from an infamous family, and Penny is more than a mother, wife, and role model.

Liam Bradley is the youngest son in the football-famous Bradley family, whose father is on trial for illegal gambling. Everyone has an opinion about Liam’s life, yet he never feels like the priority—only the backup. Whether he is the backup quarterback on his team or the overlooked sibling in his family, his self-confidence suffers as he struggles to establish an identity of his own.

Penny Wade, a friend of Liam’s sister, is raising two children while navigating an impending divorce. Her sense of identity has become wrapped up in her children, the divorce, and the struggle to make ends meet. She wonders, “Who would want me—a soon-to-be divorcée with two kids?” When Liam, an old family friend, offers to help, he sees her simply as Penny: an attractive, interesting woman.

Do not dismiss this story based on its familiar tropes. Yes, Penny is Liam’s sister’s best friend, and yes, Liam is younger than she is. But those details do not capture what makes this the most heartwarming of the Bradley family stories.

Both characters are genuine and thoughtful toward the people they love. Unlike the women in the other books, Penny is not captivated by Liam’s status as a professional football player. She is drawn to his support, generosity, and big heart. In turn, Liam needs someone who truly sees him—someone who recognizes what he does for his family and understands his strong sense of responsibility. Together, they balance each other beautifully. A big and hearty 5 stars !

First, this is the first story I've read from Lisa and I can promise you I am going back to enjoy the rest of the Bradley family story.

This is the classic one night stand... except instead of strangers, they already know each other.

Liam, our golden retriever MMC, is as sweet as they come. He walks into a bar only to run into his sister's best friend, Penny. Penny is a newly single mom, looking to enjoy an evening without responsibilities and ends up enjoying talking, drinking and enjoying the company of Liam.

Penny needs a new place to stay, because she is still living in the house with her ex-husband, as she has nowhere else to go. When Liam finds this out, he immediately offers his space. He has more space than he knows what to do with. But, she reminds him it wouldn't just be her... it would be her two boys as well.

As their relationship unfolds, it felt so natural. Nothing felt rushed, their chemistry was off the charts and really built on a true friendship as well. They're so lovable... I felt like I was cheering for them every step of the way. The way Lisa creates her characters is magnificent. You really watch the true growth of the characters, invest in the side stories and additional conversations with the side characters while never losing track of your main characters.

Liam has always been the backup in his career... he's looking for a chance to be first string... in his career and in his relationship.

Like I said above, I'm invested in the Bradley family now. I'm so excited to dig deeper into the rest of the stories.

TL:DR

Falling in love with his sister’s best friend was not on his radar. He is not looking for a relationship. He has no desire to have a family. His own family is a mess. She is going through a nasty divorce with 2 little boys while working and it is draining her – physically and emotionally. But running into each other one night is fate. Their easy friendship and effortless chemistry are explosive from the start and that fire burns throughout the whole storyline.

Liam Bradley is between assignments in his NFL QB career and home in Chicago dealing with family things. Penny Calloway is trapped in a house living with her soon to be ex and she needs a break and someplace to go. Fate would have it that Liam has space at his massive condo and it is near the kids’ school and her work. So, always the one to take care of everyone else, he offers his home to her and the boys so they can leave the toxic space they are in now.

Their relationship is natural, built on a long-time friendship, trust and support for one another. I loved watching how things evolved naturally, how Liams mindset shifted about kids (those 2 boys stole his whole heart and melted him!) and how Penny freed herself in the end to be able to go after what she truly wanted.

Of course, it is not all sunshine and roses, the twists are there and keep you invested in their story. The characters grow together through the struggles and surprises and always look to put love and family first.

The Bradley family has had my heart since the first book came out and I love to get caught up with each new book that is released. Each story is like coming home to see what is happening with your siblings. And I am here for it all! Cannot wait for Ivy’s book….

I rcvd an eARC of this book, all thoughts are my own.

Liam Bradley. The man that you are. And he has 100% met his match in Penny. Of all the Bradley stories, this one, I feel, has the couple who are most complementary of each other! They are genuinely kind, compassionate and generous people who always put others first. Their biggest flaw isn't selfishness ... it's that they care so deeply about everyone else that they often neglect their own needs and happiness.

But that can be super frustrating, too. My heart ached for both of them, but it also made me want to smack them upside the head. I wanted nothing more than to see them finally choose themselves and find the happiness they so deserved. They were the kind of characters I couldn't help but love and root for every step of the way.

Liam completely stole my heart as he slowly realized the life he thought he didn't want was exactly what he needed. Watching those two boys break down every one of his walls until they completely owned his heart was incredibly moving. Penny's journey was just as rewarding. Seeing her finally free herself from the fears and expectations that had held her back, and finding the courage to go after the life and love she truly wanted, made the ending feel all the more emotional and satisfying.

This was such a fantastic addition to the series, and I loved every minute of it. From the heartfelt family moments to the engaging storyline, this book had everything I was hoping for. Every piece came together perfectly, making it impossible to put down.

The only character I couldn't stand was Penny's ex-husband, but I'm confident that's how Lisa wanted us to feel. He was written so well that I found myself frustrated every time he was on the page. I totally wanted to throat punch him!

Liam and Penny are the most unexpected one night hookup but they are so good together!

Liam a NFL 2nd String Quarterback that has finished out his contract with Pittsburgh and is now back at home in Chicago waiting to hear from his agent about a possible tryout with any team. He is the 2nd youngest Bradley and he spent his last season coming back and forth from Pittsburgh to take care of his mom while she was dying of cancer and then dealing the the problems from his father getting arrested. Liam got a call for a tryout contract in San Diego.

Penny is Everleigh Bradley best friend and is in the process of getting divorced from her cheat husband, Brent. She has two adorable little boys, Sammy and Benji. Penny is working a marketing job that she does not particularly care for and trying to get through the divorce in one piece while protecting her boys from their disappointing father.

Liam and Penny run into each other at a bar around the corner from Liam’s condo and are shocked to see one another. One thing leads to another for a night of fun and Liam makes an impulsive decision to ask Penny and her boys to move into his condo to get away from her soon to be ex husband. Penny agrees to move into and see what will happen.

Liam and Penny can’t stay away from one another. Liam has to fly to San Diego for his tryout and also had his sister Everleigh’s wedding coming up soon.

Liam’s past comes back unexpectedly and he has a monkey wrench thrown into their newly formed relationship.

Jump on in to see if Liam and Penny can beat the odds and stay together or will they split and Liam will remain as the back-up plan.

⭐️ARC REVIEW⭐️
Backup Plan by @authorlisasuzanne
5 ⭐ / 4.5🔥🌶

And the heat keeps coming… @authorlisasuzanne delivers even more spice in The Bradley Legacy Series book 6. Penny and Liam are just meant to be. Liam is Penny’s escape and so much more. Penny is Liam’s home and lifeline when his life takes a turn. They are everything the other needs but in true @authorlisasuzanne fashion the road to their HEA will have its ups and downs first. Their “one night” was never gonna be just “one night”.

Liam was everyone’s rock in the past few books. So it’s only right that we see him just slightly fall apart in his personal story. But the best way to fall apart when life hits hard is to fall apart with someone who is also falling apart. Together you can grow. Together you can fight. Together you can hold each other together. Find solace, strength, love and home in one another. Penny and Liam find all these in each other.

The drama is ramped up just a bit in Liam’s book from not knowing where he will land career wise, personal surprises and the continuation of all things the Bradley Legacy, but then we have Penny. Penny brings a whole new level of drama, her divorce, the non supportive spouse, being Liam’s older sister’s best friend and lifelong family friend. But this just makes their scenes together in close quarters so much spicier, romantic and swoonworthy.

Lisa delivers another fantastic Sports romance full of drama, spice, and then some.

Add Backup Plan to your TBR today. Add the whole The Bradley Legacy Family Series to your TBR today.

THank you @authorlisasuzanne and @valentine_pr_ for my ARC.

🌟 Backup Plan by Lis Suzanne arc review 🌟

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Backup Plan tells the story of Penny, who is trying to rebuild her life after a painful divorce from the father of her children, and Liam, who has just secured a position as a backup quarterback. When they meet at a local pub, the attraction between them is immediate. There's just one complication—Liam is Penny's best friend's younger brother.

From the very first chapter, this book hooked me with its emotional depth and the effortless chemistry between Penny and Liam. Their relationship develops naturally, making every heartfelt and vulnerable moment feel authentic. The romance is sweet, emotional, and full of genuine connection.

One of my favorite things about Lis Suzanne's writing is her ability to create characters who feel like real people. Every character has strengths, flaws, and their own unique personality, making it impossible not to become invested in their stories. The supporting cast is just as lovable as the main couple and adds so much warmth to the book.

While this is definitely a sports romance, it's just as much a story about healing, finding happiness after heartbreak, and learning to open your heart again. The emotional moments hit hard, and I found myself completely invested in Penny's journey.

Tropes:
🌟 Single mom
🌟 Sports romance
🌟 Found family
🌟 Best friend's younger brother
🌟 Love after divorce

If you're looking for an emotional sports romance with lovable characters, plenty of heart, and a romance that will make you smile (and maybe cry a little), I definitely recommend giving Backup Plan a try.

This was such a sweet story, very feel good!

Backup Plan is a really great football romance because Suzanne did a great job balancing the "feel good" aspects of the novel with realism of what it takes to build a strong romantic relationship, especially when there are children involved, a difficult divorce occurring, and a cross-country move. Additionally, I really enjoyed that each chapter switched between Liam and Penny's perspectives.

What starts out as one night of fun between Liam and Penny turns into a beautiful blended family. I swooned during the scenes where Liam really took on the role as a dad despite Penny not really asking or expecting him to treat her boys like that. The emphasis on found family is really sweet and well done in this book.

There is an age gap between Penny and Liam but honestly it really didn't seem like that big of a deal and it was only seven years. I will say that Liam seems to grow up really quickly in this story (not that he was super immature to begin with) but it is cool to see the way his priorities shift as the story progresses. The romance between Penny and Liam is really sweet and there is some spice but it tones down as the book progresses and the story really focuses on the development and establishment of their relationship. Both Penny and Liam are going through a lot throughout the book so I appreciated the moments of levity that Suzanne provided as well.

This is part of the Bradley Legacy series but I read it as a standalone and that didn't take away from the story for me.

I will definitely be reading more books by Lisa Suzanne!

I loved Liam and Penny’s story! The Bradley’s may have been rich, and the men stars in their sport of choice, but they had a hard road mostly because of their fathers’ choices. I felt bad because Liam is the youngest son and seemed to have the most giving and helpful personality. His family was based in Chicago where his father was going on trial for underground betting among other things. Liam took on the responsibility of checking in on his father and how their old house was being turned into a wedding venue. Liam’s oldest sister was going to get married there and had Liam checking on the progress to make sure it would be finished by her wedding date. Of course she also had her best friend checking too as well as a couple of other brothers. Unfortunately the visits from Pittsburgh to Chicago cost Liam his place on the Pittsburgh team.

It was kismet how Liam was feeling down and went to the local bar near his condo and ran into Penny, his oldest sister’s best friend. One thing led to another and they ended up spending the night together. I can’t image what Penny was going through to get a divorce from her cheating husband and taking care of her two young boys. I was glad to see Liam step up to help her out with living arrangements. I loved her two boys and how well they got along with Liam. It was hard to watch though as Penny and Liam were trying to keep their relationship away from Liam’s oldest sister. I enjoyed watching the two fall in love especially with all the problems going on around them. Then towards the end there were a couple things thrown in the mix that messed up everything and broke my heart. I strongly encourage you to read the book.

Firstly I must thank the author for my ARC of this book. I finished it a few days ago but have been thinking about what I want to write. If I could have given this book 50 or even 500 stars I would but had to settle for 5. Each time I read a book about the Bradley family I always say that this is my favorite brother. So instead I am going to say that they are all magnificent men and have had wonderful stories to tell about their lives, falling in love and getting married. This one touched a real nerve with me. I am 6 years older than my husband but I came to him without children and we have 3 together. We will be married 42 years in November so I know that Penny and Liam will have a long happy marriage. This whole series has touched me to my core but this story for some reason had me sobbing in parts. I couldn't even figure out why and still haven't. The characters were amazingly well written. Lisa really gets into the heads of her characters and portrays them perfectly within the narrative and the amazingly worded conversations throughout the book. I love that in each book of the series we have always had other Bradley families involved in the story and of course it was done so brilliantly well in this book. I believe we only have Ivy's story left but I will hate to see that end this family saga. Perhaps Lisa can dream up a way to keep the Bradley family in our reading lives. I absolutely recommend this book. Fans of Lisa will really appreciate this one and those who don't know of her could read this and love it so much they will go back and read the others. Outstanding book.

The Bradley Family is back once again with the fifth Bradley sibling. Liam is also a pro football player; he’s in his mid-twenties and has a great single life! He gets let go from his pro team and is waiting for a call from a new team. He’s got a condo in Chicago, the Bradley family home base. He’s at sister Everleigh’s mercy, checking on her in-construction wedding venue; he’s also the go-between his father who is heading to trial for illegal gambling and his siblings. He
was the one sibling keeping the family updated on his mother’s illness and consequent death.

Penny is Everleigh’s best friend who is going through a divorce with a man who cheated and has two little boys - and is cohabitating in the same house as the soon to be ex-husband. After a very rough day, she stops at a local bar for a drink and something to eat. Who does she run into? Liam - who lives just around the corner. They enjoy some drinks and dinner together and share their stories. When Liam invites her to his condo for the evening - and then to move in to get away from the ex, Penny takes him up on the offer.

Will they be able to co-habitate? Will Liam even stay in Chicago to continue his career? Will Penny ever be able to finalize her divorce? This installment of the Bradley family is fantastic - there are twists that are not expected within the family, you see Archer coming back to the family, and you see love, understanding, and forgiveness within the pages. This book really held my interest and I read it in two days! You will love this series and this installment!
