This small town in rural Georgia is where Kimberly Singleton hopes to find the answers that can save her adopted daughter's life. Daniel Monroe is the key: the charismatic firefighter is the one who helped bring her child into the world. He's a good man from a loving family who makes Kimberly feel like she's finally found a safe haven. But he won't give up his secret.
For almost twelve years, Daniel has kept his promise to a terrified young mother. Now Kimberly and her daughter deserve the truth. But how can he break that long-ago vow and stay true to who he is, a man Kimberly can trust…and love?
Though she was a lifelong scribbler, Cynthia Reese finished her first manuscript in 2005 as the result of a December 2004 New Year's Resolution. That manuscript wound up tucked safely under her bed…and she went on to write three more manuscripts in 2005, one of which became The Baby Wait, her first of four published novels.
She lives in rural Georgia with her husband and their daughter, whom they adopted from China in 2002. When not at the computer, Cynthia spends the time with her daughter and her husband and often serves as a referee to the three family cats, two dogs, and two goldfish and the critters' inevitable squabbles.
Besides writing, she loves to read just about anything, even the back of the cereal box. It's a good thing she can write, because she can't dance, can't sing and her cooking is spotty at best—but her family loves her anyway.
If she ever found oil under the petunias, she'd hire a personal chef and a housekeeper, travel the world to all the places she's always wanted to see…and never feel guilty again for curling up with a good book instead of doing the laundry.
Man Of His Word by Cynthia Reese. 12 years ago an Amish woman came to the firehouse. She had her baby there. Daniel Monroe worked there and delivered the baby girl named Marissa. The mother didn't want anyone to know the baby was hers. She was giving the baby up for adoption. She knew Daniel and made him promise not to tell anyone who she was. Under the law where you could drop off a baby without question asked. The baby was taken to another stay and put in a foster home where the single mom, Kimberly Singleton, adopted the special needs baby. Marissa has a blood disorder. Kimberly and Marissa who now is almost twelve travel to Georgia to the fire station to find out who the mother was. Law enforcement, hospital staff and the fire department said they couldn't tell her anything because of the private deal. Kimberly and Marissa move in with Daniels mom to save hotel money, while Kimberly tries to get answers. A good read
I loved this book. The mother only wanted to save her child. The firefighter tried to help her and eventually everything came out even thought there was a lot of pain for all involved.
