Novel (81,000 words) Author This is a stand-alone novel.
Katie Reus® is the USA Today bestselling author of the Endgame trilogy, the MacArthur Family series and the Deadly Ops series. She fell in love with romance at a young age thanks to books she pilfered from her mom's stash. Years later she loves reading romance almost as much as she loves writing it. However, she didn't always know she wanted to be a writer. After changing majors many times, she finally graduated with a degree in psychology. Not long after that she discovered a new love. Writing. She now spends her days writing paranormal romance and sexy romantic suspense.
Another stellar read from Katie Reus, having only discovered her talents recently, I have to say she is fast becoming one of my ‘go-to’ authors for PnR and Romantic Suspense. Retribution offers a bit of everything, and told in 4 POV’s you really do get the story from all angles.
Two sisters looking to avenge their parent’s deaths, and the two men that are in the way of them achieving that aim, one a dream-walker, one the son of a mobster. There are plenty of twists and turns in this story, but it dragged a little in the middle for me, not enough for it to take away my enjoyment, but it went from high speed to a sedate stroll then back up to high speed again towards the end.
I would have liked a little more POV from Alena and Andre as well, although the story is mainly about Declan and his blossoming relationship with Nika, a lot of what motivated Nika to do what she was doing was because of Alena, and it would have been good to see into her head and her thinking a little more. I would also have liked a little more time spent on her and Andre together especially in the middle of the book, after -
It is also mentioned that Declan has three brothers all of which have special talents slightly different to his own, I am intrigued, and I hope the Ms. Reus has stories to tell for them at some point in the future as well.

This was an interesting read with a giant serving of paranormal mixed in. I didn't expect the whole psychic and dream walker thing but I liked it, it added something that stood out for me. The intense connection that Nika and Declan shared was awesome and I loved that Declan was so protective towards Nika, even with the mystery of who she was and what she's up to.
I enjoyed this one but the side story that was left hanging, regarding Alena and Andre was annoying. I don't particularly like books with more than one story or main couple in it. I always feel like not enough page time was devoted to each couple. Especially when I like one pairing more than the other, I just want to read about the one. Although Alena and Andre are way more complex and layered individuals, and their relationship has all kinds of yummy drama and danger and emotional chaos, I felt that they deserved their own story arc. I'm guessing the author is going to write their story sometime later? Wish she would have devoted more time to Nika and Declan rather than splitting the time between them and Alena/Andre, especially with that up-in-the-air ending.
Definitely interested to see where those two end up (even if they did end up stealing some of Nika and Declan's thunder in their story.)
I really enjoyed this book. Nika and Declan are both strong, interesting characters. The suspense plot was good and the book was really well written. I just wish there had been more of the romance. There were other POV's that were interesting, but took away from the H and h in my opinion. There was a sweet little epilogue, but I would have liked more. Safety gang safe
This was a Romantic Suspense with an element of the paranormal. I have to add a spoiler warning here, because I really can't talk about this book without telling you guys about the plot.
Nika Brennan sees glimpses of the future, among other things. She and her sister Alena are planning revenge, and trust me, this guy deserves everything coming to him.
Declan Gallagher is former CIA, owns his own private security firm, and oh by the way, he's a Dream Walker. This means he can get into anyone's dreams, and they'll never know he was there. He can get any kind of information from them. Spooky. But when he pops into Nika's dream as a favor to the FBI director, she behaves in an unexpected way. Very unexpected.
The fantasy man who Nika keeps dreaming about is a nice change from the scary, ghostly figures who haunt her each night. But when the sisters' plan leads them exactly where they need to be, and with whom, she is shocked to see her fantasy man in the flesh.
Declan is hired to keep an eye on the Brennan sisters, while at the same time keeping the man who hired him safe. Andre is a wealthy businessman whose father deals in drugs, weapons, women, and even children. He's done a lot of bad things, and killing Alena and Nika's parents has turned the sisters into assassins. They're going to take Yasha down, and take him down right in front of Declan and Andre and all that fancy security with no one noticing it wasn't natural. But something happens...
Alena is kidnapped and ransomed back to Andre, who has to borrow money from Yasha, the father he hates. This is important.
And in the mean time, Declan and Nika are falling for each other. How are they going to reconcile what they've each been hiding from each other? And how can Nika and Alena betray Andre, who was willing to pay twenty million dollars to get her back?
There is so much going on in this book, that I had to give you guys the play-by-play just to get to this point. Declan knows Nika is hiding something from him, but he really doesn't think she and her sister are killers. Or maybe he just doesn't want to think that...
Infiltrating dreams is supposed to give Declan answers, but with Nika it just raises more questions. So he moves on to Alena, and even though she doesn't notice him lurking, she is able to kick him out too. These women are more than they are letting on.
Trying to keep the sisters safe, keep Andre safe, and take down the bad guys is getting harder and harder. It doesn't help that there's a traitor in his midst. Nika is starting to see more than just glimpses of the future, too. She begins having full-blown visions, and the dead are speaking to her once more.
This book is fantastic, and intriguing, and fresh. Any fan of Romantic Suspense will like this book, even if PNR isn't your thing. The paranormal aspect is just the dreams and visions. And fans of PNR, this isn't vampires or shifters, but there's enough going on to keep you happy too!
I highly recommend Katie Reus for all Romantic Suspense fans, and for anyone who wants a super intriguing story.
Nika and Alena Brennan will have their revenge even though it comes at a high price.
After witnessing their parents’ brutal murder, Alena has vowed to avenge them. With the help of her psychic sister, Nika, they have managed to eliminate three of their targets but there’s still one more to go, the man who ordered the hit against their parents. But to get close to him they will have to get close to his son, Andre. Nika has a bad feeling about their latest plan. It sounds easy but can they really pull through with something like that?
Former CIA agent and owner of a private security firm, Declan is tasked with protecting Andre and eliminate any threat against him. But Declan has a secret, he is a dream walker. So when Andre shows up with the two beautiful sisters thought to have killed three powerful men, Declan knows that he will have to look beneath the surface, especially since he can’t stay away from Nika.
Nika thought that Declan was just a projection of her imagination, the man who invades her dreams. She never would have imagined that he was real. Until they meet in Miami. The chemistry between them is off the charts but Nika can’t allow him to mess up with their plans. At the same time though she can’t but wonder if what they are about to do will cost them their lives.
Retribution was an amazing book. It was an action packed book with romance, mystery, suspense, twists and a touch of paranormal. Nika and Declan were such an awesome couple. They were strong, protective, a bit hesitant at first but as soon as they find out more about each other, fireworks.
There is so much action and suspense to the story. Nika and Alena are a step away from their last target, they know they mustn’t hesitate but they never thought they would face such distractions. I really can’t be satisfied with the end though. Nika and Declan’s story was a beautiful one but what about Alena and Andre? Andre knows that Alena used him to get to his father but for him their brief relationship was real. I really hope their get their own story and find their HEA.
Retribution is a must read. How can you not read a book with such a cover? Highly recommended!

I made the mistake of starting Retribution last night after the kids went to bed thinking that I could read a couple chapters and pick it back up in the morning... Wrong!! I found myself so invested in Nika and Declan that I ended up staying up half the night just so I could finish it in one sitting. Yeah, it's that good!
Katie Reus took my two favorite genres, paranormal and romantic suspense, and blended them seamlessly into this action packed book that had me hooked until the very end. My only hope is that, even though it's said to be a standalone, Ms. Reus will give us a book for Alena and Andre.
After an old friend calls in a favor, Declan invades Nika's dreams hoping he can find out if her and her sister, Alena, are planning to kill one of his security details. Only, his dream walking doesn't turn like he plans. Nika has special gifts and she senses Declan in her dreams, and even though she thinks she's imagining him at first, quickly realizes that he's actually a dream walker.
When the two meet face to face the first time neither of them really know if the other remembers the dreams so they avoid the topic at first. Once it all comes out though is when things really pick up between them. I absolutely loved Declan and Nika together from their first encounter... Actually I loved Declan's feelings towards her from the first time he saw her picture. Insta-protectiveness is always my favorite and Declan made alpha look oh so hot!
Of course, along with the romance between Declan and Nika we also have the suspense. And there is quite a lot of suspense in this one. We have Nika and Alena using Andre to get to his father but there's also additional threats against Andre which ends up with Alena getting kidnapped. Add in the fact that there just might be a guy on Declan's team whose not exactly on the up and up... Definitely makes for a sitting on the edge of your seat type of book.
Obviously I can't say enough good things about Retribution so I'll finish with this... If you love your suspense with a little bit of paranormal, or if you love your paranormal with a whole lot of suspense, you should definitely check this one out!

4*s Review posted here... http://bookpassionforlife.blogspot.co... Retribution is definitely the name of the game in this latest offering from Katie Reus. This book could really make a great movie because it has all of the elements I would look for in pnr. We have a pair of sisters –Nika & Alena Brennan - who have taken on vigilante roles against someone who has done them wrong, but this someone happens to be one of the biggest crime bosses going and is known for his wickedness. The girls befriend his son in the hopes of getting close enough to the father so they can take their revenge but what they don’t know is….someone is onto them. Declan Gallagher is a security expert, he is also a dream walker – someone who can enter a persons’ dreams and find out their darkest secrets. When he is approached to look into Nika & Alena he has no problems becoming involved because he will be on a job for the crime lord’s son Andre anyway and that is exactly how the girls plan to get to their target. Whilst doing a little delving into Nika’s dreams he is confronted with the fact that she has a special power too and that’s not the only thing they share…… Upon meeting things take a sudden turn for the worst when Alena is kidnapped and held for ransom. Nika is left to deal with everything but with Declan and even Andre on her side… can they piece the puzzle together? What will happen to their plan now? And just who knows what they’re up to? I really enjoyed this book, as I said – it would make a great movie without the paranormal element but the fact that it was there gave the book that much more of an edge. I love these type of stories, anything to do with psychics and investigations etc. I don’t know why but they always draw me in, I want to believe in this stuff, I want to believe that they can help spirits find peace and this satisfied everything I love about it. Most of the characters are likable, you can empathise with Nika & Alena straight away even though we don’t get the full tragic story until much later, they were easy to like and understand. Declan too was a great leading man, hot, sexy and more than capable of protecting anyone. I loved how they came together in dreams and had no inhibitions but in real life it was different and it was up to each other to tear down the walls between them. They had great chemistry and the sexytimes were steamy. The storyline had plenty of action by way of car crashes, kidnappings, escapes, rescues & ambushes …. These scenes were great and you could feel the tension & anxiety of the situations. I thought the author brought a believable story to the reader and everything seemed plausible. It seemed as though most everyone had some secret they didn’t want others to know and throughout the book they are revealed with some disastrous consequences. All in all, I was very satisfied with this book, it kept me interested and involved right up until the very end and I hope there will be more from either Declan’s brothers or his security employees.
Even though Nika's sister was a main character as well as Andre in the book with the way it ended I'm thinking they're going to get their own story so I focused on Declan and Nika. I admired Declan's self restraint, "As Nika settled against him, Declan tried to ignore his erection. She had to feel it, but he wasn’t going to make a move until the sexy woman was completely ready." I loved how when Nika walked into a room Declan's attention was focused solely on her, "Declan stood in the foyer talking on his cell phone. When he saw her, however, all speech stopped and his eyes glittered with pure, heated desire . And it was all directed at her." I did love Declan and Nika but at times I was more interested in Andre and Alena.
Katie Reus is at it again! Retribution stands alone and has to be one of her very best books! I will admit to hoping that this book turns into another one of her fabulous series because it certainly left me wanting more!
Nika Brennan was hiding in a closet as a vicious monster killed her parents. At the age of 5 she was fortunate to have her older sister, Alena age 10, to protect her. It's been 20 years and the sisters are finally getting their revenge. Only their revenge has a price.. Can Nika and Alena walk away from what could very well be their own personal HEA?
Declan Gallagher has a gift, as most of his family does, his gift is to dream walk. He can slip into people's minds, especially their dreams, and discover their, thoughts, their hopes, their deepest secrets, with no one the wiser. Except this time? Declan is dream walking with the luscious Nika Brennan and she is not only aware of his presence she remembers it all. Creating a connection that tempts him to share his desires.. And when they meet? It's combustible. But how can a relationship built on lies survive?
This book was just soooo good! Ms. Reus outdoes herself this time. While both Alena and Nika want revenge they have to decide just how far they are willing to go and just what they are willing to sacrifice. Loyalties are tested and love is on the line.
While we know the enemy the tension in this book doesn't come from the suspense it comes directly from the relationships. Can you build something precious when you are working opposite ends? Can lies be converted and a foundation of trust be built? Difficult questions...
I honestly can not say enough about this gift Ms. Reus gives us. And I seriously hope to see more of the Gallagher family.. They have peaked my interest!

This review is based on the ARC of Retribution, provided by netgalley.
Sometimes it's hard to read a book and have no one by your side - physically - so that you can turn to them every other chapter and tell them, grinning like a fool: "I'm loving this book. Have I told you how much I love it yet? Well, I love it!"
Which is exactly what happened with me and Retribution.
Declan Gallagher is a dream walker, who has been called to act as the bodyguard of a Russian crime boss's son. During his duty he comes across Nika Brennan and her sister Alena, two seemingly innocent women hanging out with Andre, the man he's trying to keep safe - Alena more personally than her sister. He knows it's only a matter of time before all hell breaks loose with what the sisters are truly planning to do. And he's determined to stop them, even if Nika is pulling at all the right heartstrings...
I'm telling you right now, if Katie Reus generally writes like she did in this book, and it's not just me being lucky and stumbling upon a lone case, then I'm glad I have her other books in my TR list! Because the woman doesn't just write; she... she weaves magic or something!
It was impossible to skip through the pages and not swallow every little word. And the plot and the individual characters weren't the only things shining - their chemistry was really something else, too. Not just romantically. Declan and Nika were amazing as a couple, even if they had their issues and had trouble trusting each other, but Declan also had tons of friendly chemistry with Andre, the same way Nika had with Alena. It was one of those few books where I enjoyed the main couple, yes, but I was also giddy when it was time for some Alena and Andre scenes.
I really hope those two get their own book, too - though, truth be told, even if they don't, I feel like it was fair to let things end that way. Ms. Reus showed us that not all couples end up together, and while I'm a huge fan of the HEA in stories, I can appreciate the realism behind this particular ending.

He invades her dreams. She sees brief glimpses of the future. But time is running out and their secrets could get them all killed in this dangerously seductive contemporary romantic suspense.
Declan is playing a deadly and seductive game in Nika's dreams but he's determined to find out what her and her sister are up to and the reader can't help but get caught up all the passion that burns between and not just in their dreams which of course leads to some hot and steamy sex but the relationship is has a few flaws - no one's telling the whole truth and lives are at stake. These strong compelling characters seduce readers right into their story and are easily related to while the fast paced and smooth flowing plot keeps anticipations high with lots of suspense, action and romance.
Tension and excitement builds throughout the story as Nika and her sister set out on a deadly quest for vengeance against a ruthlessly evil man but they are not the only ones seeking revenge which puts their plans in jeopardy. Unexpected twists and betrayals keep all the characters and the readers on their toes as the story is brought to life with well written scenes and details that capture the imagination while the well planned events not only ensure that there is never a dull moment but that the reader can't put the book down once they start reading it. Psychic abilities add just a touch of the mystical to adding spice to the story while adding quite a bit of sizzling heat to the romance between Nika and Declan.
Once again, Katie Reus took me on a thrilling ride with some wonderful characters that held me captive throughout their story, in fact, the only problem I had with this story is...why is it a stand-alone? I want to know about the rest of the Gallaghers, Andre and Alena, I just know they all have their own stories itching to be told.
A paranormal suspense that has organized crime involving gun running and slavery, spies, and a couple of psychics with different gifts as main characters. You would think that seems like it would be a bit much, but actually worked really well.
Nika and Alena Brennon want Yasha Makarov dead. Hell bent on revenge and with very good reason, they come up with a plan to get to Makarov through his son, Andre. Problem is Andre is actually a nice guy and the man that heads up his security has Nika tied up in knots.
There were definitely some strong paranormal elements to this book between Nika’s visions and the fact that ghosts seem to stalk her. The first time a ghost showed up, I wrote “Creepy…I didn’t sign up for creepy!” Thank goodness it backed away from the creepiness after that. I had a hard time understanding Declan’s gift of Dream Walking. I understood the concept of how his ability could help, but all I saw in practice were some sexy dream times with Nika but nothing that helped with the case at hand. Nika’s abilities were more straightforward and made more sense to me.
Nika was the perfect combination of vulnerable and tough. I loved how you could tell how conflicted she was over Alena’s plans. The need to support her sister weighed against the wrongness she felt about the whole thing no matter how righteous the cause was. Add in her off the charts attraction to Declan and she was definitely between a rock and a hard spot.
Declan definitely had some alpha tendencies but I liked how he gave Nika space. Torn between his duty to his job and his need to protect Nika from herself, he walked a tightrope as well as could be expected. I also loved the heat between Declan and Nika. The dream scenes and the real ones were sexy but there could have been more of them.
I do wish we had been given more than just a glimpse into Nika and Alena’s upbringing. I think this would have given the reader more of an understanding of what drove them to continue on this path of retribution. I also would have liked to know why their Uncle left vengeance up to the two girls when he was more than capable of handling it on his own. A little back story would have cleared this up easily instead of leaving me wondering what the deal was.
Alena and Andre were intriguing side characters. Alena being such a beautiful girl who loved her sister so much, but was marred by a heart that was hell bent on vengeance. You just knew the cost to her would be high and she would wonder if it was worth it in the end. Andre seemed a little lost to me. Saddled with a monster of a father, trying to be the best he could be, he definitely caught my interest.
A path I wish had been explored more was Declan’s brothers. I can envision a series based on brother’s with strong but different psychic powers and what they do with them. I know this book was listed as a stand alone, but I’m really hoping to see some of these characters in future books. I’m just not sure which ones I want to see more – Andre and Alena or Riley, Declan’s brother. Oh hell, I’m a greedy dirty girl. I want it all.

I received a complimentary copy of this book from the Publisher in exchange for an honest review.
I have read and reviewed quite a few books by Katie Reus since discovering her Red Stone Security series. I’ve enjoyed her romantic suspense (Red Stone Security and Deadly Ops) and her shifter stories (Moon Shifter and Darkness). This one felt a little different than her previous work. I can’t decide if it is my bias because I know that this is a standalone or if is truly a departure.
Katie Reus writes very tightly written romantic suspense. Her books are fast paced and filled with adrenaline. The elements fit together perfectly and, despite the occasional insta-love, the romance is very engaging and incredibly hot. (Learning from my experience, do not try to read her books while standing in line at an amusement park. Just trust me on this.) This book is a bit of a departure. Story lines are not as clear-cut. There are side turns that make this narrative more complicated. I like chasing the story. However, it also feels slower paced with more emphasis on building the relationship. I enjoyed going deeper with Declan and Nika, but there were times where their interaction that felt repetitive and it dragged down the story a bit.
This is also not your typical paranormal romance (PNR). With many PNR stories, you have shifters, vampires, witches, and mages. They have over-the-top powers This PNR focuses more on the extra-sensory skills. Declan is a dreamwalker. He can enter into and interact in most people’s dreams. This is a very clever and handy skill for a spy.
Another interesting element is that although Declan and Nika are the featured characters, Alena and Andre have a significant role as well. There is more to their story and I hope someday the author will decide to develop this story line into a series.
IN A NUTSHELL: I will read anything that Katie Reus writes because I know that I will be entertained. She has not let me down yet.
Thank you to author for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.
Declan Gallagher thought he was just accepting another job when he agreed to spy on the Brennan sister, particularly on green-eyed, high cheek-boned, younger Nika. He never thought he’d develop feelings for her or that he’d be so willing to protect her and her sister, even from themselves once he got to know her. Nika on the other hand, never imagined the sexy man of her dreams would be real and that he’d be the cause her sister’s best laid out plans would fail, and that in the end, she’d have to choose between family and the possibility of love and a normal life.
Like many of Reus’ heroes, Declan is very much the loving, intelligent alpha that knows how to give a woman her space when she needs it. He comes from a very close family and I think that’s probably why he understands Nika’s fervent loyalty to her sister, even when she may not openly agree to everything she does. The premise of the man of your dreams actually showing up in your dreams, fulfilling your every fantasy and then becoming a reality is indeed fascinating. I would have loved to know more about his abilities but unfortunately we don’t get to see much of that. One thing that bothered me however, is that even though it was explained how Nika got her special abilities it didn’t make much sense to me, or the fact that they kind of changed over time. But then again, maybe I just missed something. Nevertheless, Katie Reus took me on a suspense ride all throughout the book. She used the same formula she normally uses for her other well-known and fabulous romantic suspense stories but the smidgen of paranormal made this story shine all on its own. It’s supposed to be a stand-alone but she’s now given inklings that she may have a follow up (crossing fingers!) in the works so if that’s the case I’ll definitely continue reading. 3 ½ stars

I really liked this one! Declan can walk through people's dreams and he has been asked by his former boss to find out if Nika and her sister Alena are planning on killing Sasha, a Russian Mob boss who is suspected of human trafficking.
Nika and her sister Alena are planning on killing the man responsible for their parents death. Alena gets involved with Sasha's son Andre to get close to him. And even though she is developing feelings for him, she is so consumed with the need for retribution that Alena still plans on killing his father knowing that she will lose any chance with Andre in the process. Nika and Declan have been meeting up in her dreams. She believes he is nothing more than her fantasy man but he is really digging for information on what the two sisters are up to. The more time Declan spends with Nika the more he falls for her but he is still suspicious of her and her sister. Nika is psychic and as she and Declan work together she starts having second thoughts about killing Sasha and betraying Andre. I loved how protective that Declan was of Nika from the moment he met Nika and I reeeeally hope that we get a story about Alena and Andre next!
Retribution has lots of action, suspense, romance with enough paranormal thrown in to satisfy PNR lovers like myself. With plenty of twists and turns that keep you on the edge of your seat I definitely recommend this as your next read!

Retribution was a good read. I tend to stay away from military, mafia, CIA, etc. type of books but when I found out this book would have some “paranormal” aspects to it I couldn’t wait to read it. I’ve enjoyed Katie Reus other paranormal type books so I thought I give this one a try and I’m glad I did. I enjoyed the characters and the plot a lot. I don’t want to give anything away but the story is about Nika, Alena and their parents, Declan, Andre and his father. Their paths have crossed in one way or another and the plan to get revenge is in full swing. I would have like the ending better if there was an update on Alena but I’m guessing that will be another standalone book. This cannot be the end of Alena and Andre. This is a standalone book so you get the ending but I was a little disappointed because I was invested in Alena and Andre as well, so I hope they get a HEA. If there will be a book for them, I would definitely read it and I recommend this book to fellow readers who enjoy a good book with revenge.
I loved this story. Declan’s former boss calls in a favor to have him find out who Nika and her sister Alena Brennan are and what discover what they plan to do to a Russian crime boss. Using his special gift of dream walking, Declan invades Nika’s dreams to discover her secrets. What he finds is an almost instant attraction to a woman who is not quite what she seems.
Nika finds her mystery dream man incredibly sexy, but accepts that he’s only in her dreams. That is, until the day she meets her dream man in the flesh. Intrigued, yet wary of this man who is the head of the security team for the son of her enemy, Nika and her sister must figure out how to carry out their plan for retribution without losing their lives… or their hearts.
What a great read! Suspense, intrigue, betrayal, romance, and paranormal gifts all wrapped up in one delicious story! I could not put it down. Highly recommended!

REVIEW Declan worked once upon a time for the CIA. Although he missed it shit happened. His old boss pays him a visit and needs his help. Declan has a special ability and although he tries not to use it sometimes it’s needed.
His job is to stake out two sisters who are believed to be trying to kill another mobster who should die. But can Declan leave personal out of it? Especially when he finds himself drawn to one of them?
Truly enjoyed reading this story it gives us just the right amount of action, suspense and romance. Although a short story it packs a big punch.
I was gifted a copy of this book for my honest review. Katie Reus
A bit disappointing which surprised me. Reus is one of the authors I know I like. Her work, wether PNR or Romantic Suspense, is guaranteed to keep me entertained and I'll be rooting for the main characters to get their HEA. Except here. I found the tone uneven and it was all a bit jarring. The sex scenes were a bit too erotic, the story read like part of a series I should already be familiar with, the paranormal stuff was a bit too tentative and I just felt like I was on the back foot throughout. I'll hold my hand up and say it might just be me, the overwhelming majority of reviews seem positive, but I was still disappointed as I always look forward to reading her work and here it fell flat.
Nika and her sister is out for revenge, and the last part of it includes taking advantage of the son to their target. What they didn´t expect was Alena´s feelings for Andree, or how Nika would react to the head of security Declan. Soon everything is seriously muddled but they´ve come to far to give up now. Declan´s got a tip that the sisters are up to something, so he needs to get a read on them. Not as close as he soon becomes, but he can´t resist this woman. Suspense, action and smutty fluff in a great combo. Disclaimer: I received a free copy of this book in return for an honest review.
Retribution by Katie Reus has something for everyone - romance, suspense, paranormal gifts, and secondary characters that help bring this story alive. I'm starting the petition now to turn this book into a movie! Nonstop action, sexy as heck characters, and a story line that just BEGS for a sequel, this is guaranteed to be a mega hit. I'm never disappointed reading a Katie Reus novel, but this story has just become one of my favorites.

There was something about this one that fell flat for me. I liked Nika, liked how she seemed to hold her sister in check and just wanted to live a normal life. I even liked Nika'a abilities and how she they were changing. The one thing that bothered me about this one was how everyone was lying and had things to hide. I was surprised that Nika and Declan were able to build something with all the lies going on.
Nika and Declan's story is action packed, suspenseful, and interesting. Declan's got some special abilities and Nika is in a position to really hurt him in more ways than one. The paranormal element to the story wasn't overwhelming. It was well written and a great addition to the Kate Reus library. She is a great author!
This is a good story, suspense and mystery more than romance. I enjoyed it, and I was so close to giving it 4 stars, but there wasn't enough love for me. I wanted more connection to the characters as well. Still a good read if you really like suspense and some romance, with a tiny touch of paranormal.
Very nice read. Good characters, a little bit of a myster/thriller. Nice steamy romance, and a little paranormal thrown in too. Very worth the read and I hope Alena and Andre get a book soon! Happy reading!
Katie Reus at her best -- romantic suspense with a touch of paranormal. Declan is a former black ops, CIA agent who used his gift of dream walking to help people and his country. He's retired and has his own security firm to keep protecting people. He gets a call from his former handler to dig into the death of some Russian mobsters. Two women keep popping into his investigation and he suspects they may be involved. Their former partner Yasha Makarov will be in Declan's area and he's calling in a favor for Declan to use his skills to dig into these sisters. Who are they? Are they involved in these suspicious deaths? Declan can't refuse.
Nika and Alena Brennan appear to be normal people. Alena is a supermodel. Nika, her sister, is her assistant and beloved companion to the globe trotting Alena. Alena attaches herself to Yasha's son Andre, who is everything his father is not, is a casino chain owner. Declan is in charge of Andre's security. When Declan walked in Nika's dreams there was instant chemistry between these two. Nika must have paranormal abilities too because she can remember Declan being there, which had never happened before. And so the story begins with attraction growing between the men and the sisters and suspicions growing too. When Alena is kidnapped all hell breaks out.
I love how Katie crafts stories. The growth of the characters and the twisty storyline. Having paranormal touches is just icing on the cake. I do hope we get a novella about Alena and Andre because there seemed to be a real relationship grow between them and we were kinda left hanging.
