One day she was there. The next, she was gone.

Luke King never thought he’d see his wife again. Two years ago, Jenna walked away from their life together, leaving no clue as to why, and no answers to give their three young children. Though he never stopped wondering why she disappeared, he’d finally began to accept the painful Jenna wasn’t coming back.

Then she does.

Walking away from her family was the hardest thing Jenna King had ever done. But she had no choice. Staying would have put them all in danger. Now, after two years of looking over her shoulder, it’s finally safe to return and tell Luke the truth.

However, the danger Jenna fled is closer than ever, and this time, it threatens everyone she loves. Luke and Jenna will have to decide if what they had is worth fighting for—before someone makes the final decision for them.

Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious—but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life—and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush
When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and exploring small, unsuspecting towns where people have no idea how accident prone she is.

When you think it's safe to return... is it really? When you think someone is watching... you realize they are.

This book puts the spotlight on the quiet King, Luke. Single dad, business owner, and a faithful keeper of his sister Sarah's legacy. Trouble continues to follow the Kings as they try to live out a dream in her honor, after she was murdered at the hands of her husband.

And just when Luke didn't think his life could get any tougher, his wife Jenna walks back into it. Two years earlier she disappeared without a word, leaving him to raise their three young children and wonder why. Now she's back, and the danger that made her leave in the first place hasn't gone anywhere. It's closer than ever, and this time it threatens everyone she loves.

This sixth and final installment of the Refuge Cove series brings the series full circle, centered on the importance of faith and family. When it feels like the walls are caving in, this family draws closer together, and closer to God.

The action in this story was great, and without giving too much away, you really see the true character of the King family shine through.

It was a beautiful story to conclude what has been a wonderful series with great characters.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher. I was not required to write a positive review, and all opinions are my own.

"He had a thousand things to say to her. Yet he couldn't remember a single one."

It was Jenna. The woman he had pledged to cherish for the rest of his days, only to wake up one morning and find her gone, her wedding band left behind along with their three children. No explanation given. No communication shared in over two years. And just like that, she was back? Luke King could scarcely believe his eyes or fully absorb her incredible explanation. . . . . except that he had no reason not to, especially when her past comes rushing back into focus.

Believing her was one thing. Forgiving her was quite another.

This taut, tangy story takes off in directions that neither Jenna or Luke could have predicted, however, was it possible for what was lost to become found, while teaming together for the fight of their lives and those of their family.

"For the first time since she'd come through that gate, she let herself hope that some things, given enough time and a steady hand, could be coaxed back." Just like Freya.

Could you forgive your spouse from walking away and leaving you alone with 3 kids? What would you do if they suddenly returned after 2 years? This is what Luke King has to decide when his wife Jenna returns. Her return also seems to bring a dangerous element to Refuge Cove. Is someone after Jenna? Why? Or is it the neighbors who have bitter feelings toward the King family? So many questions that need to be answered. I have discovered that I need to "slow down" when reading a Christy Barritt story or I might miss something important. As we come to the final book in the Refuge Cove series, the danger becomes more intense and the stakes are even higher as this past paced suspense book comes to its thrilling conclusion. Even if you haven't read any of the previous books, you don't want to miss this one! I received an advance copy from the author but all opinions are my own.

When Jenna King returns to Refuge Cove to explain her disappearance, she hopes to reunite with her husband Luke and their children whom she had deserted two years earlier without explanation. But Jenna has been betrayed by someone she trusts with her life, and she brings added danger to her family and everyone at Refuge Cove. I like the way the King family opens the way for her to return, even though trust takes longer to reestablish. I believe the emotions expressed by Luke are authentic for this situation, and Jenna is wise to not try to force her way back into family relationships. I also love the way the chocolate lab Freya establishes a connection with Jenna. Trust, reconciliation, and faith are strong elements.

Book 6 of the series about the King family and they just keep getting better with each one.
Luke's story is one of lost trust, protecting his children, danger on all sides.
Christy approaches forgiveness in this book with realism--it isn't instantaneous, but takes time.
So many good quotes, but I truly loved the epilogue almost more than the whole rest of the book.
It starts with a teaser in the prologue that'll keep you reading all the way to the end, so glad I got to read it.

I have been eagerly anticipating this series finale for quite some time now, and I'm happy to say it did not disappoint! Luke and Jenna's story was heart-pounding and heart-wrenching all at the same time. I really enjoyed getting to know both of them, and their kids were adorable and believable. I loved the resolution of some of the larger plot threads that have wound throughout the series. I could have used a little more resolution on one of them, but perhaps Mrs. Barritt is saving that for a spin-off series, which I'd totally be here for. All in all, I really enjoyed this series and this final book of it.

When Jenna returned to Refuge Cove, she had no idea that she was bringing such danger with her. She had been told that it was safe to return to her family. Wrong! On top of the stress she causes by returning to Luke and their children, whom she had abandoned 2 years ago, she brings lots of danger to Luke and his family. Once again, author Christy Barritt leaves you guessing and wanting more! I also love how clean and optimistically the endings are in her books. In our world today, we need that more than we realize! Thanks Christy, for giving us hope, love, and suspense–all in one sitting! I received a copy of this book, but it is all my opinion.

walking through fire to get to where you truly belong

This was an incredible story of forgiveness and redemption and keeping your eyes focused on Jesus no matter what. It was such a powerful ending to an absolutely amazing series. Christy did a great job with the characters. This family was the kind of family that were there for each other without judgement and it was beautiful. Truly a family anyone would be so blessed to call their own. I have lived every single book and I am very sad to see it end. Christy made it feel like I was part of this wonderful family and wonderful stories. This book, but truly the whole series, is so worth reading. So beautiful!!

This book is absolutely fantastic, another 5 star read for sure! The storyline is once again amazing and the characters were all lovable. As a parent, it pulled at my heartstrings quite a bit and tears were absolutely flowing as I found myself imagining being in either Luke or Ellie/Jenna’s shoes. The prayers that Luke prayed were honestly perfect as he tried to do what was best for his family. I also loved that the book showcased a true village, family and friends, helping, supporting, and encouraging them.

I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary BETA copy of this book which I received from the author. All views expressed are only my honest opinion. Jenna King had disappeared two years ago leaving her husband and three children. Now she is back and her secrets are out in the open. Her husband Luke must decide whether to accept her back into his life and the lives of his children. As always, Christy Barritt has combined suspense and a captivating story line in this final book of the series. This book centers on family, forgiveness, and facing opposition.

This concluding novel in the Refuge Cove mystery series features Luke King and his estranged wife, Jenna. Get ready for some surprises. Danger and dilemmas abound, as usual in a Christy Barritt novel, but as always the fast-paced story grips the reader and commands attention. I like the faith and nurture of the King family and how they pull together despite the trials they face. If you’re looking for clean suspense, this author is a great choice. I received a copy from the author. All opinions are my own.

Its safe where people don't run from but to what means to harm them

Luke & Jenna's story has been hinted over this series, not enough to know just to be curious about. Glad it has finally been told because it sure wasn't quite what I expected. I expected a double life but not as spinster as it turned out to be. They were meant to be together and glad they finally were.
Enjoyed the different dogs who were essential to the stories of tracking and protecting their handpicked owners. Dogs have a way of making a person feel safe and protected, as God cares for his people.

How would you react when your spouse who left you returned? That's what Luke King has to face when his wife Jenna returns after 2 years. Jenna has a good explanation for her disappearance. She doesn't force her way back into her family, knowing that trust has to be rebuilt with her husband and 3 kids. With Jenna's arrival also comes danger. Additionally, the Kings face suspicious activity like sabotage from their neighbors. What a fast-paced suspense read with betrayal, action, faith, and forgiveness.

OUTSTANDING SUSPENSE ROMANCE MYSTRY

Hard to express how much I appreciate this story. It was well written with characters I felt I could see and hear! I could feel the emotions between the couple as they try to return to the love they almost lost. I could feel the fire and I could feel the effort each character was trying to heal from the past! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK!!!

A fitting finale!

Danger, threats from all sides and a woman who thought it was safe to return to the family she’d been forced to leave behind. Turns out she brought the danger with her, and the usual troublemakers were in the midst of everything. There was forgiveness, and holding on to faith in the midst of the storm, and sometimes just trying to survive to see another day. It’s been a great series.

Awesome book in an awesome series.

Okay, first I have to say that Christy Barritt is one of my favorite authors. I have read every book she has written so far & am buying them as I have the $$. Tracking Safety is so very, very good. I was hoping we would see a book with Luke & to have it be this on about his wife coming back is the “icing on the cake.” Sooooo good!!!!

Tracking Safety

This book grabs you with both hands and arms, feet and legs and your heart. Once I started reading I could not and would not put it down until I absolutely had to. I started it mid-afternoon less than 5 hours I was completely through. I was so sad I was completely through with it. This is one that I’ll read more than once.

Inspiration and heartwarming

Faith never lost paid off and God never left them, just guided them and sent Angel in dog form Freya to watch, observe and show them the way. Good conquers Evil and Love Always winds. I laughed, I cried and longed for the Faith. And the final song Here Comes the Sun was perfect. God shines his light.

Super Good

I’ll read anything Ms. Barritt writes, but, after reading the first chapter of this book, I nearly put it down. I thought it was going to go down a path I didn’t want to follow. Remembering who the author was, I kept on reading I am so glad I did! Ms. Barritt just never disappoints!
This whole series is a must-read.

This series finale does not disappoint. All the loose ends are intertwined at the conclusion. Enjoy this tense, yet cozy suspense. There's a surprise cameo that will cause smiles for those who have read another Barrier series. However, it's no problem if you're a newbie.

I received a complimentary copy of the book without obligation. This review is my opinion.

Into the fire

Courage is taking the next step. Not giving up. Pouring yourself out. Not letting go of hope. Looking to God each moment. Showing up.

This story, this family and friend group exemplify being steady. Staying the course. Having God at their center. A genuine love story.

Is this the end?

If you’ve read the other books in the Refuge Cove series this is the last book - Luke’s story - why did his wife leave him & the children? Is there any plausible explanation? Will she ever return? Is she still alive? Seemingly so many unanswered questions…yet what if she returned? Could she be trusted? Forgiven?

Wow. This is a really well done story. The things they had to face and Jenna coming home to face Luke and her childrens response to that. Then all the things being the family had to work through. This was an excellent series.

…of keeping a person running, but never getting farther away from it. Truth is, facing the fear is what truly banishes it. Fear is deathly afraid of a brave heart! Tracking safety takes you through a million emotions. Good practice. Enjoyable read.
