Dear Sam,

I'm torn. I can't decide if you are playing me for a fool or I actually am one....Right now we should be island hopping on the yacht but instead I find myself knee deep in shit in T18 with....Keo..... KEO! Did you think all of that talk about Keo's MP5SD would make me forget about Danny's ACOG???? HARDLY! Perhaps that works with all of your other girls but it definitely didn't work for me.

Speaking of your other girls, you've turned out to be quite the ladies man! As I'm writing this 20 of the first 25 reviews of this book are written by women. That's right, four fifths of your audience is comprised of the fairer sex. You flirt! I'm just pointing this out because I can't decide if you realize the effect that you have on us or if you overestimate your charms all together. Do you imagine us as putty in your hands, and if so did you consider that you might actually be holding plastic explosives?.... Maybe "the guys" didn't notice, but Gillian deciding to stay in T18 when she felt her baby kick during her first month of pregnancy actually made four out of five readers laugh and laugh; we know that quickening doesn't even take place in the first trimester, let alone in the first month of pregnancy! Unfortunately, that was the funniest moment of the book, which is why I can't figure out why so many different characters do so much "chuckling", especially when Keo has to keep telling everyone "it's a joke".....and just exactly "What kind of name is Keo"anyway? ....Oh, that's right, Will was already taken!

It was just Okay. Sisavath is succumbing to "The Walking Dead Syndrome". His first books were about surviving the ghouls, human interaction being only peripheral. These last few books have been the complete opposite. I find Keo to be so repetitive he becomes redundant, and his character has not progressed at all since his first appearance, even though Sam keeps trying to convince us otherwise. The whole "what kinda name is Keo" schtick got old a long, long time ago.

I don't read the Purge series for complex, in-depth characters, but after six books, if you insist on switching the focus from the ghouls to the humans, please stop making every single man a militant bad-ass who moonlights as a stand-up comedian. And stop making every woman a super-model nymphomaniac who can't keep her thoughts off the dick, even in the most direst situations. I knew Gillian was a cheating whore. Keo should have stayed on the Trident...

IoE was an OK book, but it did nothing to advance the series. It also did nothing to flesh out the characters. Leaving our protagonists on from the previous books out entirely, this one follows the likeable enough character, Keo, on his journey to regain his lost love. Instead of really developing his character or filling in back-story (this was done in other books, so back-story is less of an issue), it just tied up his "find my lost love" story arc.

As such, it's entirely superfluous toward the larger meta-plot being told. That said, it's still an enjoyable enough experience, just don't look for any great revelations here. You could just as easily skip this book entirely and not miss anything critical to the meta-plot. That doesn't make it a bad book, or a waste of time, but I do feel like an opportunity was wasted here, or perhaps just an opportunity to sell books in a generally good, well-received series was capitalized on.

I'm more eager to read the next books in the series now, which is a positive nod to the world and story created here, I just wish my time invested here would have had a better return.

Another fantastic read, but disappointed.....

Another edge of your seat, action-packed, fantastic read! As usual, enough creative situations and twists and turns to keep the story fresh and continually interesting. Lots of new characters, but ones we'll never see again.
I was disappointed because the book centered around just one character. After being accustomed to knowing what's going on with each member of the whole gang, just the point of view and storyline on one character didn't have the same awesome effect as it did in all previous books. Also, it didn't help that this character isn't one of my favorites. He's just sort of........blah. I'm surprised the author has a couple of other spin-off books centering around him. Odd.
Anyway, hopefully we'll return to the previous format in the next book(s). I can't wait to read what comes next!

Honestly I do wonder if I'm being generous with 3 stars. The series has become pretty repetitive both at a writing style level and in terms of the general flow of plot points. I'm a bit tired of constant detailed gun fights now (what do I care about all the different gun specifications in every single scene?) and therefore I'm probably not the right person to have started a series like this in the first place really. I do find the premise really interesting, and I do like the new overarching plot developments, but it took a whole book to get, well, basically no further forward than we were at the end of the previous one. I'm ready to just be told how things turn out in the end without having to read the next one. Betcha I still read it though...

Great series!!!!

I love this series. Haven’t stopped reading them since the first one. It has everything! Great story, great characters, it’s funny, it’s sad, romantic, and on the edge of your seat terrifying. The author has such an awesome sense of humor! I freaking love his writing. It kind of reminds me of Mark Tufo. And it’s been hard to find a series that can beat the Zombie Fallout books. But here it is! So if you love apocalyptic stories, fighting for survival, heroes, unnatural creatures , and just great books then read Purge of Babylon series! Keo is one cool dude! And I love where the story is going ( with Will to the rescue)!

Sad But True

Well I was really still sad about the turn of events but I cannot deny these books are still fantastic. I’m moving on to the next one which after the turn I thought I probably wouldn’t do. I must admit I snuck a peek at book 8 and thought wait I might go ahead and read this one. Glad I did too! You made it very hard for me not to go on though because the twist turned out to be sad but awesome so here I go on to book 7.

Still like Danny, even as a blue eyed ghoul.

This installment was great, lots of bad guys getting what they deserve from Keo, really bad dude. Gillian must be nuts, she chose a wimpy doctor over Leo, I would have waited for someone like him, forever. Can't wait to read what happens next.

Although I thought the storyline was getting a bit worn in the previous book, I enjoyed the upshift in action with Steve and his band of happy elves. The mysterious "blue eyes" was a welcome addition, now we can get back to Will (even though he has turned) and Lara crusing the gulf. But where are they getting the diesel fuel for the yacht? When do Keo and Jordan have their affair?

I wasn’t sure at first. I knew something was wrong right away when there were no character names as chapter headings. And after every Keo chapter, it was just more Keo. Another few-hundred page side story? I wasn’t feeling it right away.

But those last few scenes were actual fire. And redeemed the entire book and made me 1000x more interested in the follow-up!

Best book in the series so far!!! I was really worried about where the story would go after the big event at the end of Book 5 but it is going to work out to be AMAZING !

10 Stars if I could!

I am ridiculously addicted to this series! Love the characters and storyline. I was so upset about Will at the end of the last book but I love the direction that the story is moving in.

Wow! The story continues with lots of action and bloodshed! The characters just keep getting better and the mystery of what's going to happen next keeps growing. A fun series to read. Moving on to the next book with eager anticipation!

Incredible

The more I read this series the more I have to read. After the first book, I was hesitant, half way through and I was hooked! Really enjoying the series and looking forward to what comes next.

Wait, what!? 😱

After the last ending that was so a cliffhanger, the cruelty of the author is machiavélique, as we follow Keo on this side quest... Don't despair, I really enjoyed that book (my favourite one of the series), and you'll got a follow up on the next one! 😉

Fun Ride

I was a little upset (spoiler alert) with what happened to Will in the last book, but am truly starting to like Keo.

I very much like the book and the series, but the professional ex killer Keo staring/freezing at the most inopportune times is rather unlikely and annoying.

And the saga continues

This has been my least favorite so far. Only because it focused on Keo only. I do like the introduction of a friendly blue eyed ghoul. Onward and upward.

Another Twist

I think a break in between the constant fighting for your life would be welcome but the twist of blue eyes is intriguing. Can’t wait to see what happens next.
