Fun, good light hearted banter, he was adorable light mafia, no angst

You know what? I don't know why I keep doing this to myself with BB Hamel.
Because child, this book sent me into orbit, and not in a good way.
After my little vacation dancing through the James Brothers and my physical TBR, I decided to hop back onto my Kindle and visit my old friend: the completely unhinged mafia arranged marriage. Now, I've read a lot of BB Hamel books. In fact, BB Hamel writes books faster than rabbits produce babies. I don't even know if this is part of a series or a standalone because with this author, who knows? The books are usually chaotic, over-the-top, and just grounded enough in reality that you can suspend your disbelief.
This one?
This one looked me dead in the eyes and said, **"What if we just did whatever?"**
Welcome to **Arranged Devotion**, or as I like to call it:
**Girl...are you serious with this?**
## 📚 Plot + Vibe Dump (aka controlled chaos summary)
We meet Regan while she's committing a little light property damage.
And honestly? I was on her side.
She catches her boyfriend Kieran enthusiastically participating in extracurricular activities with Vera Baranov, so naturally she spray paints his car. While she's vandalizing his ride, a mysterious stranger wanders into the garage, helps her destroy the vehicle, and casually introduces himself.
"Hi, I'm Liam."
Liam also happens to be there to hunt down Regan's cheating ex.
They blow Kieran's car up.
They hide out at Liam's apartment.
And approximately three hours after meeting each other...they're hooking up.
We're moving at the speed of bad decisions.
Turns out Liam is a lieutenant in the Whelan clan. Now, I've read all the Whelan brothers' books, and apparently BB Hamel finally ran out of brothers and cousins and decided to start writing about the help.
Finn Whelan offers Liam a promotion if he agrees to an arranged marriage with Regan. Meanwhile, Regan's father—who launders money for the Whelan clan through his construction company—essentially tells her she has no choice.
And honestly?
At first, I was pleasantly surprised.
We have:
* arranged marriage ✔️
* actual money laundering ✔️
* a clan hierarchy ✔️
* a psychotic lieutenant hero ✔️
See? THIS is what I expect from a mafia romance. Give me structure. Give me criminal organizations that actually function like criminal organizations.
Then the third act happened.

### Liam (MMC)
Let's be clear.
Liam is not a misunderstood bad boy.
Liam is an absolute lunatic.
A psychopathic killer.
A Whelan clan lieutenant.
A man who solves most of his problems with strategic homicide.
And honestly? I was fine with that.
In fact, I appreciated the commitment.
He falls first. He's obsessive. He's protective. He's exactly the kind of morally gray disaster I signed up for.
But then BB Hamel looked at all that character setup and said:
> "What if this hardened mafia soldier suddenly ignored every rule of organized crime because he caught feelings?"
Sir.
You spent the entire book hunting Kieran and the stolen information. Then when the actual traitor is revealed, you decide the power of love is stronger than the mafia?
I don't think so.
### Regan (FMC)
Regan, baby.
You are a CPA.
You literally work for your father's construction company, where the books don't add up, the money appears out of thin air, and your father launders cash for one of the biggest crime families around.
Then this woman has the audacity to ask:
> "Wait...is the construction company fake?"
Girl.
Google yourself.
We don't need Scooby, Shaggy, and Fred with the ascot to solve this mystery. The clues are practically doing the Macarena in front of you.
And while we're here...Regan spends half the book acting shocked that Liam might be dangerous.
Sweetheart.
Your first clue should've been the whole **"Lieutenant in the Mafia"** thing.

**Max Baranov.**
Hear me out.
This man understood the assignment.
Wedding? Shoot it up.
Enemy family all gathered in one convenient location? Shoot it up.
Mafia people making obviously terrible tactical decisions? Punish them immediately.
The entire Whelan clan deciding to hold a post-wedding strategy meeting in a public bar might be one of the dumbest things I've ever read in organized crime fiction.

The ending.
Actually...the last twenty percent of this book.
So let me get this straight.
Luke betrays the clan.
He steals valuable information.
He hands it over to the enemy because he's mad at Daddy.
And Liam...
...helps him escape.

Excuse me?!
This man doesn't turn him over to the Whelans.
Doesn't let the clan handle it.
Doesn't even pretend to care about the rules that got him to lieutenant in the first place.
Then Vera Baranov—the daughter of the rival family—doesn't die either. She gets shipped off to Ireland to become a hostage because apparently we're solving organized crime wars with exchange student programs now.
All of this...
ALL OF IT...
...is done to make Regan happy.

This book actually started with promise.
I liked the setup.
I liked the arranged marriage.
I liked the clan structure.
I liked that the Whelans actually had legitimate businesses laundering money and a recognizable hierarchy.
For a while there, I thought BB Hamel had found the formula.
And then she completely abandoned the logic of her own mafia world.
You cannot spend 300 pages telling me Liam is a loyal, ruthless lieutenant climbing the ranks and then have him betray the clan because he wants his new wife to be happy.
You cannot tell me the Whelans are a feared crime family and then have them hold a strategy meeting in a public bar where literally every important member is sitting together like they're at Buffalo Wild Wings.
And you absolutely cannot convince me that a clan soldier should prioritize the happiness of a CPA who doesn't even rank over the actual leadership of the family.
The whole ending felt like somebody took the last fifty pages and wrote them during a power outage.
BB Hamel usually gives me chaos I can laugh at.
This time she gave me chaos I had to argue with.

I came for a ridiculous mafia arranged marriage. I left wondering if anybody in the Whelan clan had ever attended a single organized crime meeting in their lives.

ARRANGED DEVOTION by BB Hamel is a contemporary, adult, Irish Mafia romance series set in the Whelan Irish Crime family series. This is Liam Lankshear, and CPA Regan Corrigan’s story line. ARRANGED DEVOTION can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty. Any important information from the previous story lines is revealed where necessary.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise, there may be triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspective (Liam and Regan) ARRANGED DEVOTION follows the arranged marriage between our story line couple. Regan Corrigan recently discovered her long term boyfriend was having an affair, and as an act of revenge, decided to damage her boyfriend’s car but Regan found herself with an accomplice in the form of Liam Lankshear, the man with whom Regan would fall in love. A few nights together would end when both would discover they would be forced to marry, a marriage needed to regain power and information from a potential traitor but all was not as it appears to be when the search for the truth reveals a betrayal from within.
The world building follows Regan and Liam in the weeks leading up to, and following their marriage. As Liam and the Whelan Crime Syndicate begin a deep dive searching for the truth, the ultimate betrayal will break the heart of our story line heroine. From the Irish Mafia to the Russian Bratva, no one is immune to the encroaching war.
The relationship between Liam and Regan begins acrimoniously when Regan is discovered in the process of damaging her ex boyfriend’s car but Liam finds himself attracted to the woman that is willing to seek revenge on the people who betray and deceive. Forced to marry for an unwelcome alliance, Regan struggles with her attraction to the man who could break her heart. The $ex scenes are intimate and provocative without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.
The secondary and supporting characters are familiar and determined. We are introduced to Regan’s ex Kieren Foley; Regan’s brother Luke, and their parents Noreen and Martin Corrigan, as well as the return of Declan, Finn and Cormac Whelan. The requisite evil has many faces.

Told from dual first person perspective (Liam and Regan) ARRANGED DEVOTION follows the arranged marriage between our story line couple. Regan Corrigan recently discovered her long term boyfriend was having an affair, and as an act of revenge, decided to damage her boyfriend’s car but Regan found herself with an accomplice in the form of Liam Lankshear, the man with whom Regan would fall in love. This is the final book of the Whelan Irish Crime Family series. In Arranged Devotion, we get to know a little more about Liam. We first met him an Arranged Scars. He is not an actual Whelan brother but he is a very loyal, he might as well be an honorary member. Liam is on a job looking for someone who has stolen something from them. Instead, he finds Regan, the thief’s ex. She is vandalizing her ex’s car. He decides to have a little fun and approach her and tell her it would be better to burn it. Then he needs to talk to her and tell her about what was stolen which leads to a passionate night. He doesn’t get attached to anyone, but he’ll never see her again. He takes advantage and enjoys himself. Then, he’s blindsided when he is told he needs to marry the daughter of one of their employers. The crazy thing is it’s the Regan from the other night.
Regan is the type of girl that never does anything wrong because she doesn’t want to anger her father. She has a normal job alongside her father. She had the perfect relationship until she found out he was cheating on her. Having a one stand with guys like Liam is not something she would normally do. She finally felt free for the first time. However, when she’s told she needs to marry someone from the Whelan’s called Liam, she already knows where this is going and she’s not happy about it. Since she plays the perfect daughter, she has no choice but to marry him. She feels so betrayed because she thinks he knew. Will she be able to make this work or will they live separate lives?
BB Hamel had me on the edge of my seat from the minute they burned the car together. You can tell there was an attraction between them. They both felt something they wanted to avoid. I felt bad for Liam because he doesn’t know how to be a husband. He’s nice to her, but he’s never really there for her. He doesn’t know how to make it work and he really likes her. I felt bad for Regan because she always was trying to do the right thing. Yet with Liam, she felt some type of freedom and she thought she shouldn’t be enjoying herself with him. Their chemistry was great making their scenes really hot. It was action packed. It’s also filled with drama, humor, danger, heat, secrets, witty banter, and shocking twists. I really enjoyed this series.

Dark and Steamy Page Turner!
I absolutely had a blast reading this book; it was so much fun😊. Undeniably dark, bloody, and absolutely hilarious in all the right places—the humor kept the murderous madness from becoming too heavy and left me laughing out loud in the middle of all the chaos.
Regan Corrigan is the perfect daughter on the surface, but beneath that good-girl image is a woman whose shattered self-worth has been shaped by an abusive father. Being cheated on by a boyfriend you’ve had since childhood certainly doesn’t help her self-confidence.
Angry for good reason, she convinces herself to get revenge on her ex, and with one flick of a lighter, 💥 she crosses over to the dark side.
Liam Lankshear is a fixer for the Whelan clan and is Regan’s total opposite. Liam's a kinky, ruthless and morally gray devil. He’s true book-boyfriend material—murderous, dark, deadly, twisted, protective, and weirdly hilarious. I mean he kills people and somehow, I’m still swooning. Yeah, make it make sense.
Liam was unforgettable, but I also loved watching Regan’s character growth throughout the story.
There's drama, danger, suspense, twist/turns, Bratva enemies, violence, torture, abuse (mental and physical, mainly in the past), murder, arrogance, doubts, turmoil (emotional), rampant betrayal, consequences, guilt, sadness, resolution, lots of humor, lots of spice, passion/lust and ultimately love.

I haven't had the best of luck with this author. There may be more Whelan family stories but I can't find them. I liked this one a lot. The story telling, dialogue, characters, is good. Liam and Reagan have chemistry. Good Mafia action. Liam is a solid character. Reagan is naive about her family.
Great beginning. Good, safe, comfortable, uptight Reagan steps out of the box she's been in all her life to take some revenge on her cheating ex, but arson with a stranger? Going back to Liam's apartment? Reveling in how good it felt to do something so out of character; it's freeing.
"For me though it’s like wading out into the ocean only to realize there’s a brand-new continent right over the horizon."
But then she's forced to confront what her father actually does for a living (laundering money for a mob family). She's remarkably naive considering, as a CPA in his firm, she cooks the books for him. Her father has abused her into being too afraid to stand up to him, so she agrees to the forced marriage between the families. Of course, Liam is the groom.
"I despise all the circumstances of my life that have led to this moment, all the little steps, the failures, the beatings, the screaming, the insults and the belittling, all the weakness that he’s instilled into me."
She also tries to protect her younger brother who clearly doesn't want or need it. She thinks she can save him, or get him out of this life. She wants him only given 'safe' jobs. Even I know this is ridiculous. Plus we know there's another traitor in the business. My money is on Luke. She sees him on an odd phone; hmm, why doesn't he use his iPhone? GIRL! that's a burner phone.
A 2 star ending but these things have to end somehow.

Her father dictated what she would study in college and approved of her fiancee until he cheated on her in their apartment. She immediately broke up with him and that didn't seem enough so she decided to be reckless with spray paint on his precious BMW. That's where she met Liam. He helped her to torch her ex's and it is only the beginning of Liam and Regan.
Liam has been working closely with Whelan family especially with Flynn. He is still looking for important file that has been stolen from that's how he met Regan and they had unforgettable night.
Flynn and his brothers suggest arranged marriage to solidify his standing and also will combine two powerful powers. He didn't want at first but eventually he accepts when he finds out it's to Regan. She is feisty, strong and it would make everything interesting.
Regan and Liam has crazy chemistry. They understand each other in a way that will make their marriage work better than her parents. She never had control of her life until she met Liam and he has someone to protect like Flynn and rest of Whelan family.
It is packed with typical mafia violence with twist, drama, suspense and betrayal. So strongly recommend read the trigger warnings.

Good girl, Regan had her future planned out or so she thought until she catches her boyfriend cheating and wanting to get back at him she goes to spray paint his precious car but ends in a moral panic until Liam comes along and offers to torch it instead. Liam works for Finn Whelan, who sent him to find Kieran, her ex after he stole some documents from her father who works alongside the Whelans, in laundering their money. Finding Regan at her exs car wasnt part of his plan but plans change and when Finn suggests a marriage to Regan to keep her father close and Liam can be closer to the inner circle of Whelans, at first he declines he cant have the woman he cant stop thinking about as his wife, a distraction, only he cant see her going to anyone else either so he agrees even if Regans his reluctant bride, but will she realise he had her best interests at heart along with his own? Well written the story and characters draw you in with steamy desires drama action and more.

I titled this Did you Know for a reason. Liam is on a job looking for someone who stole from the family. When he encounters Regan she is getting revenge on an Ex by destroying his car. A perfect solution is to burn it and so they do. What starts out as a one night stand which they believe they will never see each other again becomes a family obligation where they are to marry. Yea know comes the good part where she thinks she been betrayed. Regan was the perfect daughter on the surface but life experiences has left a mark on her self worth. Liam on the other hand walks on the dark side. Hes everything coated in danger. Dark, deadly, a little twisted, very protective and has a hit of humor. BB has given us a great ride with this family of crime. We've walk on the good side and the bad but thru it all. They managed to find the one thing that matters above all, Love.

So Regan gets revenge by spray painting his previous BMW. But this is so out of character for Regan-she’s a good girl. Never a troublemaker. And to make matters worse or better, depending on you like at it-Liam sees her doing it and gives her the chance to burn Kieren’s car. Naturally she takes the chance and the rest is history. Now Regan’s life changes in so many ways. There’s a connection and sexual tension between Regan and Liam. The story keeps you on the edge of your seat. This is the final book in the Whelan Irish Crime Family series and an arranged marriage in the future for someone in the Whelan clan but the surprise for everyone is that it is their enforcer, Liam. Liam is out looking for someone who has stolen from the family when he finds Regan, the thief’s ex vandalizing the thief's car. These two are polar opposites but find themselves being used to secure power through their marriage. Great story and I'm sorry the series is finished.

This is my favorite book by B.B. Hamel! I loved how crazy Liam was. I loved the scene where he and Regan meet- it’s incendiary! The whole book kept me riveted from the beginning and I stayed up past my bedtime to read it in one go because I couldn’t put it down.

After catching her boyfriend cheating on her, Reagan decides to mess up his pride and joy, his car. That's when she meets Liam, and things take a fiery turn. One steamy night later, they find out their families have arranged a marriage between them. This is a dark Mafia romance with betrayal, danger, suspense, secrets, steam, and so much more. Arranged Devotion is well written, and a page turning story. I recommend this book and this author to everyone who loves reading great books. I voluntarily reviewed a copy of this book.

Regan and Liam
I have to plan when to read BB Hamel's books. I buy everyone as soon as they are released but it might take me some time before I read them. I KNOW the books will suck me in. I KNOW all I'll want to do is read till I finish the last word. I have to make sure I'm well rested, so I can read late. I have to make sure that my schedule is clear, so I have the time to get lost in the book. Such a good hate love romance. Liam helps Regan grow into a strong woman. And Regan helps Liam learn to care.

Boy, this is a crazy one, but so good. Straight-laced Regan is really ticked off when she finds her fiance in bed with another woman so she decides to spray paint his beloved car. But then the regret overwhelms her. In walks Liam who tells her all is okay because he turned off security. He is looking for something, fails to find it and then suggests they burn the car! From there it gets even wilder including an arranged marriage that neither wants but agrees to. Great characters in a tense but funny situation with hilarious dialogue. Loved it!

This is a story that draws you in from the first page and never lets go. Liam and Regan are polar opposites and perhaps that is why they are so good together. There is so much action is this story and also a lot of violence some of which was too much for me so I skimmed over it. There are twists and turns I did not see coming and some I did, but the ending was both expected and totally unexpected and very satisfying. A thoroughly enjoyable read.

Another intense page turner from the very first page to the last. The action, suspense and twists had me on the edge of my seat. The chemistry and steam between Liam and Regan is hot! Love the characters and the storyline is fantastic. I enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend it. Can't wait to read more from B. B. Hamel.

BB's books always start off with a "bang." Never a slow burn. And I love that. Here, timid, rule follower, Regan is painting and burning her cheating exes fancy car! This is where she meets Liam and the sparks fly between them as well.
There's violence. Hot, hot spice. Funny, arousing banter. Found freedom. Impossible situations. So much entertainment. So good!.

Love the Whelan Irish crime family. This is Liam a very loyal and devoted to the Whelan family finds himself in an arranged marriage. I love the first meeting between Regan and Liam it’s explosive and so entertaining. I love their chemistry and their witty banter as these fall for each other. When Regan finds her boyfriend with someone else, she is upset to say the least. She decides to take out some anger, and she has the perfect idea. His precious car is her target, but she doesn't expect to get interrupted and then get a helping hand. When she is thrown into a world she knew nothing about, she never expects to see her partner in crime again. This was really entertaining. Plenty of twists and turns.

Liam and Reagan
I really liked Liam in Finn's story and was excited to see Liam get his own story. Liam is majorly unhinged. The events escalate quickly to chaos after he meets Raegan and her corruption begins. The reasoning behind why they have to get married is thin and vague.Her father is a nasty man and it was satisfying to see Liam handle him. There were a few things that were loosely explained and vague,but as a whole it is an excellent book.

The suspense and action in the story keep building, and the main characters are really relatable. The male MC has a quirky sense of humor—it's a bit morbid, but it's quite charming. The female MC might seem fragile, but she has a big, caring heart. Her proudest achievement is helping the male MC see his own humanity. He has truly learned to care.
