CLAMP originally began in 1989 as a twelve-member dōjinshi circle, but by 1990, the circle had diminished from twelve to seven. Of the remaining seven, Tamayo Akiyama, Sei Nanao, and Leeza Sei left the group during the production of the RG Veda manga. Other former members of CLAMP also included Soushi Hishika, O-Kyon, Kazue Nakamori, Yuzuru Inoue and Shinya Ōmi. Currently, there are four members in the group.
In 2004, CLAMP's 15th anniversary as a mangaka group, the members changed their names from Nanase Ohkawa, Mokona Apapa, Mick Nekoi, and Satsuki Igarashi to Ageha Ohkawa, Mokona, Tsubaki Nekoi and Satsuki Igarashi (her name is pronounced the same, but written with different characters) respectively. The August 2004 issue of Newtype USA, a magazine specializing in events of the anime and manga subcultures, reported that the members of CLAMP simply wanted to try out new names. In a later interview with Ohkawa, it was revealed that initially Mokona wanted to drop her surname because it sounded too immature for her liking, while Nekoi disliked people commenting that her name was the same as Mick Jagger's. Ohkawa and Igarashi, wanting to go with the flow of Nekoi's and Mokona's name changes, changed their names as well.
In 2006, they made their first USA public debut at Anime Expo in Anaheim, California. They were well received at the convention, with 6,000 fans in attendance at their panel.

The cuteness overdose continues.....as does the crossovers from Clamp's other titles.

I have a bit of conflicted feelings with this volume. On the one hand, I felt like the majority of it was just the races which I didn't mind so much as it was action and I also loved that Sakura got much more of a chance to shine in this volume but there wasn't much of the other stuff I've loved in previous volumes.
I was going to rate it three stars because this volume seemed to fall a little flat to me but it still had action and I loved that Sakura got more action herself and more of a spotlight. There was also a slight insight into Kurogane in this one like we got with Fai in one of the previous volumes; so overall I rated it four stars :)

(reread 2019) Mokona spiking everyone's drinks - and Sakura's drunken meows. Syaoran saying "there are people waiting for us" (when this comes up in WC it's like agggghhhh but of course, by then it is "there is someone waiting for me" - let's not bring up The Travelers interlude in Kobato, now, either. but I just did)

Once again, brilliant art and story by CLAMP. I loved the worlds of Yama/Shura. That plot was wonderful, and its wrap up in this Omnibus was great. I appreciated seeing the character growth, and I loved the continued hints of interference from "beyond". The larger plot is steadily creeping upon us!
I honestly didn't care for the Piffle world plot. Nor do I understand why CLAMP devoted two whole volumes to it. It's really hard reading a manga of a race vs seeing it happen in real time. It made the story a little dull and hard to follow. I didn't really believe Tomoyo's character or her reasoning behind her actions during the race either. But I did like the return of Dr. Kyle and, again, the hint of bigger and grander things to come.
Onward!

Random note: the series is mostly continuing as usual, but the drinking has been ramping up. In a series primarily about teenagers and for teenagers, I find this concerning and strongly disapprove of it. Regularly having your teenaged protagonists get drunk is not cool, CLAMP.

This is one of my favorite arcs, and I can't really express why. Maybe because it feels like fluffy filler, but it really isn't. After all the feelings of some previous worlds, this one let's the characters have a little more fun. Plus the outfits are freaking cute.

The repeat characters is starting to seem more like lazy character design with the benefit of a gimic rather than a benefit to the plot.

This continues to be one of the best mangas I've ever had the pleasure of reading, from the storylines, to the characters, to the gorgeously stunning art... honestly, more people need to read this.
