Dutton “Danger” Stetson is the cowboy you don’t mess with. Single dad. Bull rider. The man everyone calls when things go wrong.

And just when his own life is spiraling, he finds himself fake dating the one woman he should’ve stayed far away from—

his brother’s ex.

Winnie Hawthorne was never supposed to be his.

Too sweet. Definitely off-limits. And dangerous in a way he didn’t see coming.

And the longer they pretend, the less it feels like a lie.

But enemies are closing in, and his past isn’t done with him.

His runaway ex is back, threatening everything he built for his son, while a rival ranch is out for blood.

And the one woman he shouldn’t want might be the easiest way to break him.

(⭐️⭐️⭐️ 3/5) This was such a cute read, and I had a really enjoyable time with it overall.

One thing I struggled with was Winnie’s confidence & her feeling invisible. I wanted her growth to come a little more from within rather than feeling tied to her relationship with Danger. Her confidence seemed to build like 3 seconds in and I would have loved to see her growth & development come more gradually, even if it was him building her confidence more so than by association with him.

I'm also not the biggest fan of ex drama, so that aspect wasn't really for me. I felt like Danger made a deal about not caring about his ex but some of his actions made that feel a little inconsistent, I just felt like she got too much attention.

The pacing for me was a bit quick at times & left me wanting a little more emotional depth in the first half. The beginning just didn’t hit for me, they didn’t really seem to have a baseline or background with one another & it didn’t feel like they meshed. The conflict near the end didn't land for me either. It felt silly. Danger had these rules he didn’t want to break because of his son & then once he did, he took it all back & let her feel hurt instead. There was just too much going on for me.

That said, the banter between these two had me giggling and kicking my feet. Their chemistry was so good. I actually found myself loving the last 30–40% of the book the most because it felt more emotionally vulnerable, raw, and genuine. Their connection really came alive for me, and I loved seeing their back and forth. And Fisher, oh my god, he is so sweet. I loved that little kid & his pov, pleaseeee.

Overall, this was still a really sweet, charming read. Even though there were a few things that didn't fully work for me personally, I genuinely enjoyed my time with it and would absolutely read more from this author.

Thank you to Beyond the Books PR for the arc 🫶🏼

Danger was such a brilliant cowboy romance between Winnie and Dutton. Dutton (Danger) is such an enigma of a character and his three dimensional personality is such an incredible contrast to Winnie. They’re both such great characters and Jess Bryson once again pulls together an incredibly dynamic cast of characters.

I loved seeing the push and pull between Winnie and Dutton. Their personalities at first glance are so different, but it was wonderful seeing them realize all their similarities as time went on. Their chemistry is off the charts, and Winnie and Dutton are so entertaining to see as they find their way together.

The relationship that Dutton has with his son, Fisher, was everything to me. Watching his gentle parenting while knowing the way he grew up was a beautiful contrast. I also loved how Fisher fell in love with Winnie, and seeing them all feel like a family was beautiful.

I voluntarily reviewed a free advance copy of this book provided by the author. The opinions expressed are my own.

Jess Bryson what did you put in this book mam!?

Quite literally devoured this in one sitting.
Kept just telling myself one more chapter until I looked down and I was already 80% done with it.

Ex boyfriend’s brother?? Sign me the helllll up!

Dutton “Danger” Stetson. With a name like that what else can you expect?
A single dad, bull rider from a small town with a badass reputation.
In comes Winnie Hawthorne, so gentle, so kind and caring. Definitely off limits for Danger.
The two come up with a fake dating idea to basically make his ex back the fuck off them both. But things become a little too serious too fast.

Okay so the chemistry was so on point. I was giggling and kicking my damn feet so much.
Watching Danger go from feral and unhinged to finally letting his guard down. Soooo good. That man had some serious trust issues with women and I’m so glad he found Winnie.

Danger literally washed, brushed and braided her hair every day while she was in the hospital. Quite literally swooning over him.

I love the found family, the whole Stetson farm helping to protect Winnie was amazing. Those boys will do anything for each other and the people they love.
I loveeeeed Fisher. (Danger’s son) I got so emotional with his character.

If you love Elsie Silver I think you would eat this book up.
Morally Grey is definitely my favorite color lately 🫶🏻🥰🥵

Huge thanks to Jess Bryson and Beyond the Books PR for allowing me to read and review Danger early. 5/5 ⭐️

THIS BOOK WAS SO GOOD THAT I ATE IT UP IN LESS THAN 24 HOURS!!😍
Ex boyfriend’s brother and a single dad cowboy? Hell yessss!
I loved this story so much. Winnie is so relatable and I loved that Danger was grumpy for everyone except his kid and Winnie. The “how to get a guy’s attention” lessons that turned into “you have MY attention” were 🥵 And the ranch drama definitely gave off Yellowstone vibes.
I was almost in tears during Fisher’s chapter.🥺
This was my first Jess Bryson book, but it definitely won’t be my last!!👏🏻 I need to go back and read Trouble and then patiently wait for the rest of the series!
Thank you so much to Jess Bryson and Beyond the Books PR for the eARC of Danger!💙

Okay… I have officially entered my cowboy romance era, and I am absolutely kicking my feet over this one. 🤠✨

This book exceeded every expectation I had. The grumpy/sunshine dynamic? Perfection. The possessiveness? Loved it. The touch-her-and-die energy? Obsessed. Honestly, everything about this book just worked for me.

Winnie and Dutton (aka Danger) completely stole my heart. Their chemistry was incredible, and I couldn’t put this book down.

I genuinely used to think cowboy romances just weren’t for me, but this book completely changed my mind. I’m already looking up everything else Jess Bryson has written because I need more. I am happily living in my cowboy romance era for the rest of the summer.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

And yes… there’s spice. As someone who’s usually not a big spice reader, I ate it up. 🌶️🤠

I absolutely adored this book and inhaled it so fast.
Dutton the man that you are, so brave, selfless, loyal, and so down bad for your woman. I loved seeing more of him in this book. It’s always the quiet ones, that’s all I will say 😮‍💨 Winnie broke him down and seeing him final give in was just so good. The walls this man had were impenetrable.

Winnie was the epitome of eldest daughter. She did all she could to help her family and never asked for help. She needed someone to finally see her and Dutton did. It was just so sweet. The fake dating that happened to get there had me kicking my feet. I loved it. If you are looking for a quick and fun cowboy romance I definitely recommend this one! It is such a great time.

We return to Stetson Ranch for Danger’s story and it didn’t disappoint. Single dad Danger (Dutton) needs to overcome his past to find happiness enter Winnie his brother’s ex, the lovable local who just wants to be loved. This left you feeling all the emotions and Fisher’s point of view chapter truly breaks your heart. I adored all the returning characters and I can’t wait for the rest of the series. If you love a good small town cowboy romance then I highly recommend this one!

Danger (Dutton) Stetson has always been known as the dark and dangerous brother. After becoming a single dad, he decides he won’t get involved with anyone unless he can see a future with them. It’s been years, and plenty have tried!

Winnie is the good girl who always follows the rules. She helps out at her parents’ bakery, even giving them money when she can to help save the business. She’s kind, sweet and almost invisible to men. It’s like no one really notices her.

But Dutton does.

He thinks he’s helping Winnie learn how to get men to notice her, but there’s one problem—the only man she wants is him.
And then there’s the fact that Winnie is his brother’s ex…

🤠

I was lucky enough to get the ARC of the first book in this series, which was about Trouble, and I thought he was an amazing book boyfriend.
But Danger? OFF THE CHARTS. Oh my days! 😍
I love how he’s almost like two completely different people. To everyone else, he’s dark, dangerous and someone to be scared of. But then he’s a dad to his 6 yr old, and Fisher is his absolute whole world. I love seeing that softer side of him.
And let’s be honest, give me a man in a cowboy hat and cowboy boots with a filthy mouth and he is going straight to number one on my book boyfriend list! 🤠🔥

eARC provided by Beyond the Books PR for an honest review

Omggg this book!! When I say I devoured this book, I mean DEVOURED!! I literally couldn’t put this book down and finished it in a few hours!!

Love, Love, LOVED it!!

The banter, the romance, the spice, the sibling bond, and the girlhood!! Absolute magic!

Idk what you put in this book Jess but it was amazing!!

This book follows Dutton ‘Danger’ Stetson, older brother, protector, and single dad. Danger has been burnt by love before and he refuses to give into feelings and f**cking. All he cares about is his son, his family, his ranch, and Bull riding. Little did he know that his brother’s ex girlfriend Winnie Hawthorne would make him break all his promises!

Winnie is a strong, whirlwind of a personality.. she picks up extra jobs at a local bar and the Stetson ranch to help her parents keep their bakery a float.. she’s always been around the Stetson family but never thought Danger would ever look at her.. she wants to be UNFORGETTABLE. He offers to teach her how to maintain a man’s attention in exchange for her to pretend to be his girlfriend to keep his baby mama away! This also gives her the Stetson name protection

I loved all the scenes between Winnie and Danger’s son Fisher! Some of them made me cry 🥲

Tropes:
🤠forbidden small town romance
🤠grumpy x sunshine
🤠single dad
🤠she’s his brother’s ex

Rating: Obsessed

Yeah...I'm obsessed.

This book had two of my absolute favorite things:

🤠 Ex's Older Brother
🤠 Single Dad x **NOT** the Nanny

Honestly? I was sold before I even opened the book. The fact that Danger is also a cowboy? That was just the cherry on top.

I am officially all in on the Stetson brothers. Now I need to go back and read Book 1 because I have to know how Winnie got her heart broken and somehow still became best friends with his new girlfriend. I have a feeling that journey is exactly what gave her the confidence and self-worth she has in this book.

And Danger...Good Lord, this man. My heart broke for the little boy who had to grow up way too fast and protect his siblings. He takes that job seriously. It's still his job. He's forever the protector of the family and that now also includes Winnie.

The barn scene. The fake dating. The absolutely unhinged "How to Get a Man's Attention" lessons that completely backfired because all Danger actually did was teach Winnie how to keep 𝒉𝒊𝒔 attention. The Engagement Party game that led to the bookstore?? I. Was. Cooked. Every single time I thought the book had peaked, Jess said, "Hold my beer." I kept promising myself "just one more chapter" and accidentally finished the entire thing in about 24 hours.

But can we talk about the real MVP?

Fisher.

That sweet little boy completely stole the show. The relationship he builds with Winnie is so genuine, so heartwarming, and honestly one of my favorite parts of the entire book. Every scene with the two of them melted my heart.

And then there's Danger's ex...

The audacity. Truly. I will never understand how some people can choose to be mean every single day and still sleep peacefully at night. The only good thing she ever gave the world was Fisher, and thankfully he takes after his dad.

Huge thank you to @jessbrysonauthor and @beyondthebookspr for the ARC!

This is Jess Bryson’s best book yet! This is the 2nd book in the Stetson Stormers series. It has fake dating, amazing banter, “f” it moment, brother’s ex fling, grumpy/sunshine, & a bull riding cowboy. Danger (Dutton) the MMC is a grumpy bull rider, single dad, with unresolved trauma, & has sworn off an emotional connection with women. Winnie the MFC works at a bar, her family’s bakery, & as a ranch hand at Danger’s family’s ranch. Winnie is sassy, non-confrontational, she’s selfless, & compassionate. This book had me laughing, anticipating, & crying. This book had me hooked from the beginning. I definitely recommend this book as well as the 1st. book in the Stetson Stormers series if you love a cowboy romance. And if you love a sports romance I recommend the Bayside Lake Series. Thank you @jessbrysonauthor & @beyondthebookspr for the opportunity.

Seriously Danger is a must read! I could not put it down! I knew I was going to enjoy Danger and Winnie because in Trouble I loved their characters. I was not prepared to be still thinking about them a week later!

Danger is grumpy, emotionally unavailable, and so stubborn it pulls you in. You want to see him break his rules and get his HEA because he doesn't believe he deserves it. Winnie is the EXACT opposite of Danger. Literal sunshine even when she doesn't want to be but don't let it fool you. She is even more stubborn than him when it's something she wants, especially about her car 🤣. The relationship she has with Fisher is going to melt your heart 🥹😍. He is so freaking sweet and funny I could help but laugh anytime he was on the page.

This is one I will always recommend! Jess you made me love this one more than Trouble so I cannot wait to see what you do with the rest of the Stetsons'.

This is my first Jess B book and wow it was awesome! I almost stayed up reading to finishing but adulting…

Winnie thought she had found the one but Herat broke she is moving on. But maybe she should not notice Danger her ex’s brother. Should she?

Danger has always sacrificed for his family. And he will keep doing it. But suddenly he wants to be selfish; he wants to keep Winnie and he does not think he deserves her. And life usually agrees with him.

This has it all with the single dad broody cowboy, grumpy / sunshine pairing, a fake dating plan, tons of angst and yearning, and a no feelings / no sex pact that quickly fails.
Loved the themes of second chances for them both, how Winnie helps heal their family, and is the perfect partner for Danger.
There is drama with the rival family, his meddling ex, and plenty of hurt, denial and trauma.
This is a cosy cowboy romance with plenty of sizzling chemistry.

This book put me through it lol i was soooo excited when i found out who the FMC was. I loved her in book 1 and was so happy to see her getting her HEA.

These two complemented each other so well from the very beginning. I love that she made him softer, while at the same time he made her brave and feel seen. I love that even after what went down in book one, trouble still had her back knowing that she was a good person.

I loved the friendship ties and how the past didn’t ruin anything. Ugh. It was just so good.

I’m basically foaming at the mouth for books 3 and 4 😂😂

🤠❤️ The Protector Finally Found Someone Who Saw Him ❤️🤠
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 🌶️🌶️

Danger was everything I wanted from a cowboy romance and so much more. I absolutely inhaled Dutton and Winnie's story! Between the fake dating, forbidden brother's ex situation, single-dad sweetness, family drama, banter, and chemistry, this was ridiculously entertaining, but it was the heart underneath everything that really made me fall for these two.

Dutton "Danger" Stetson is the man everyone depends on. He's the protector, the bull rider, the rancher, the older brother who has spent most of his life carrying the weight of his family, and most importantly, he's a devoted single dad to his son, Fisher. He's also built some pretty impressive walls around his heart. After everything he's experienced, relationships aren't exactly high on his priority list.

Then there's Winnie. ❤️

At first glance, she and Danger couldn't seem more different. Winnie is bright, strong, hardworking, and determined to help everyone around her, even if it means taking on more than she should. She gave me such strong eldest-daughter energy because she's so accustomed to being the person who helps everyone else that she rarely stops to consider who might take care of her.

Danger does.

I loved watching these two slowly realize how much they actually have in common. They're both protectors. They're both fiercely loyal. And underneath everything else, they're both people who have spent a lot of time putting everyone else's needs ahead of their own.

Of course, fake dating Danger should have made everything simpler. It absolutely did not. 😂 Especially when his attempts to teach Winnie how to get another man's attention basically turn into lessons on exactly how to keep HIS attention. Sir... you might want to rethink this plan.

Their push and pull was SO much fun. The banter, the tension, the barn scene, those supposedly fake moments that started feeling suspiciously real, and the way Danger slowly lost his battle against wanting Winnie had me completely hooked. Watching this quiet, guarded man become completely down bad for her was exactly the kind of entertainment I wanted. 🔥

But my favorite part might have been Fisher. 🥹

Dutton's relationship with his son showed such a beautiful side of his character. Knowing how he grew up made his gentle, loving approach to parenting even more meaningful. And watching Fisher form his own relationship with Winnie absolutely melted me. Those moments when Dutton, Winnie, and Fisher started to feel like their own little family gave this story so much heart.

I also loved being surrounded by the Stetsons again. The sibling relationships, friendships, girlhood, and family dynamics brought so much warmth and humor to the story, while Danger's past, his ex, and the trouble surrounding the ranch added just enough suspense and drama to keep things moving.

Dutton and Winnie gave me chemistry, laughter, emotion, family, healing, and one very entertaining fake relationship that never stood a chance of staying fake. 🤭

I'm officially invested in these Stetson brothers, and I'm definitely not ready to leave this family behind.

Thank you so much to Jess Bryson and Beyond The Books PR for the gifted advanced copy. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Tropes and details:
🤠Ex's older brother
🤝Fake dating
👨‍👦Single dad
☀️🌧Grumpy/sunshine
👵🏼👦🏻Age gapISH IMO
🐴🐂Cowboy/bull rider (Tennessee ranch setting)
🏡Cozy Southern aesthetic with a touch of drama
🌶LOW spice (1.5 to 2 out of 5)
🙄Minimal OWD
✨️DUAL POV (First person)

First and foremost, I loved the characters and the overall setup of this book. Danger has a really solid backstory for why he is as grumpy as he is AND why he has the rules he did, even if I rolled my eyes a bit lol. and the FMC is sweet, kind, smart, and talented, even though she views herself as forgettable. She's so likeable. Some readers might call her bland but I thought she was perfectly relatable and likeable and REAL. Their chemistry and back and forth dialogue was great throughout the book, and the banter between them worked really well to create tension. When the spicy scenes finally happen, even though they are few and short, they are very well written and hot (especially with the "daddy" dynamic as it's one of my faves). I also adored Danger's 6-year-old son, Fisher. Introducing him early on from the FMC's perspective was different but I loved it and it built a great family dynamic.

One of the things that prevented this from being a 5-star read for me was the pacing and length. At 283ish pages, the book felt a bit fast, and almost every chapter ended very abruptly. I really feel like this book could have benefited from an extra 150 to 200 pages to expand on the dialogue and inner monologues. Because the spice does not happen until about 60% in, we really needed more yearning prior to the fake dating arrangement. I would have loved to see some flashbacks or hints that Danger was already longing for her in the past, especially since she had been an adult for 5 or 6 years. There is none from him at all and that bothered me

Another thing that bothered me was a scene at the beginning where the MMC is with another woman, and there is an actual spicy scene between them before he gets with the FMC and the FMC watches. It's hot but also, idk, didn't love it. I understand why it was put in there for the plot payoff later (it does in a way) but I really dislike when the bad boy MMC gets on-page action while the good girl FMC does not. It gave me a bit of anxiety.

Additionally, there were a few typos and errors, some small outfit description incongruities, and an overreliance on similes that pulled me out of the story a bit. Also, while I loved Fisher's character, his dialogue sometimes sounded like a 12 or 13-year-old rather than a 6-year-old. I also felt like I missed some context by not reading the first book in the series, particularly around the tension and resolution with her ex (the brother).

All in all, this is a wonderful, fast-paced read with great character chemistry, low spice, and cozy Southern ranch vibes. It ends on a bit of a cliffhanger with an implied resolution that sets up the next brother's book, and I am definitely excited to read the next one in the series.

Oh. My. God 😍😍
Mr. Dutton Stetson, the man that you are; but more than that the father you are 👏🏼👏🏼
If you like things with a “Yellowstone” vibe, then Danger by Jess Bryson is the book for you!! From protective grumpy cowboys to the world’s sweetest ‘little cowboy’ you will fall in love with the Stetson brothers! However, their feisty strong willed counterparts are the ones who really steal the show!

As I much as I love the side characters and they do make the book incredibly fun, the dynamic between Danger and Winnie is 😮‍💨🤭 If you like books where he helps build her confidence and they have a list 😉 then Danger is just what you are looking for. Ms Winnie steals his little boy’s heart first and then teaches Dutton that it is in fact ok to love!! And as much as they can let loose and have fun the way they fight for each other is something else!! He’s only soft for her and his son, she bakes cookies with his little boy. Danger and Winnie are like sunshine and whiskey; they both burn just a little differently and they go together so well!!

I cannot wait to read the rest of the Stetson Stormers series because I have already fallen in love with all of them!!

*QUOTES FROM Danger*
- W: “The front door opens and the bell above it rings. That sound is starting to feel like a warning more than anything because boots hit the floor in a heavy rhythm, and I don’t have to look up to know. I feel it. The Human Thundercloud of a person who seems to be everywhere I go this week. Of course it’s him. Same hat. Same cocky posture. Same six-foot plus inconvenience.”
- D: “I used to think it was possible. But truth is, love is just like Santa Claus—sounds good when you’re younger, and everyone wants you to believe in the magic of it. Then one day the lie is exposed, and you see it for what it is. Once you know the truth, there’s no stuffing that belief back in the box. It’s gone. Poof. Then you feel like an idiot for ever thinkin’ it was real to begin with.”
- W: “I can’t go inside and sleep. Not after tonight. Not after him. My pulse keeps spiking just remembering. I watched a man get dropped like something from some Marvel movie. By another man who I’m now fake dating. That’s insane. It’s reckless. It’s …kinda hot? No. Absolutely not. What is wrong with me? Normal women don’t see a man throw punches and start wondering what those hands would feel like on them. I have lost my mind.”
- D: “My jaw tightens anyway. I don’t know why it gets under my skin—she can handle herself. I know she’s not a kid anymore, but the way they’re looking at her, like they’re currently disrespecting her in their thoughts, has my drink going down a little too fast. I tell myself I’m just watching the room. But my eyes don’t leave that table. The problem with cowboys in this town is they don’t know when to quit.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️️⭐️/ ️🌶️🌶️🌶️

I love being able to watch an author grow into their writing, find their voice, and perfect their characters. Having been a fan of Jess Bryson since her first book, I have been able to see her grow into an amazing author throughout her career. She was amazing in her debut book, but each story is stronger and stronger. Book 2 in her Stetson Stormers series, Danger, once again proves that she pushes herself outside of her comfort zone to deliver an amazing story with wonderful characters.

Dutton (Danger) is a grumpy, bull riding cowboy who is also raising his son alone. He has a reputation that follows him, and while we learn it is all not true, he doesn’t do anything to correct people. He is fine letting people think what they want as long as it doesn’t harm his son. Unfortunately, his ex can’t seem to stay away and he needs her gone. Asking his brother’s ex to fake date him seemed safe, I mean you can’t fall for your sibling’s ex right? Oh, Danger, how wrong you are! His grumpy exterior softens the more time they spend together. He has always protected his son and now finds himself wanting to protect her. Despite the drama that could have come from his fake relationship, his family opens their arms to Winnie again without hesitation. I loved seeing this hard cowboy soften for someone that he never saw coming.

Winnie isn’t a stranger to the Stetson world, but never thought she would find herself in a fake dating situation with Danger. How can she say no though when it comes to helping him and his son avoid an ex that won’t take a hint? She is able to be vulnerable with him, which in turn opens him up to her in ways she craves. His vulnerability with her throughout this entire story is top tier and had me kicking my feet.

I really do love how Jess wrote their entire situation. While it could have been messy, being Danger’s brother’s ex and all, it was full of heart and love. The Stetson family shows up for one another and is able to admit when a better match has been found. The chemistry between our MCs could set this book on fire, while the emotional depth provides a storyline that had me unable to put this book down. Jess, you are amazing at what you do and I can’t wait to see what you write next.

As always, review any author notes before reading.

Less than 24 hours! That’s how quickly I inhaled this book!! Jess Bryson, I have no words…the last time I had this much fun and couldn’t put a book down was while reading Trouble!

Thank you to Jess Bryson and Beyond The Books PR for this arc! I have been counting the days until I could return to Stetson Ranch and Jess didn’t disappoint!

Dutton “Danger” Stetson is a broody, bull riding, single dad who’s known for his “no nonsense” dangerous reputation. When he finds himself fake dating the one woman who is definitely off limits; his brother’s ex-girlfriend, he knows he is in trouble. Winnie Hawthorne is the total opposite of Dutton. She’s the sweet, younger, girl-next-door. But as these two begin their fake relationship, it is clear the chemistry between them is red hot and undeniable!!

Where do I begin?! I loved every second of this book! My heart ached for Winnie after book 1 so I couldn’t be happier when I saw she was getting her own story! It is so easy to love such a sweet, hard working, and caring FMC who always sees the best in other’s. It was so fun watching her get involved with Dutton because he is her complete opposite!

As for Dutton….lets just say I’m still trying to slow my heart rate!! This man is a grumpy, dirty-talking, bull-riding single dad who is fiercely protective and will literally stop at nothing to protect his family. My heart broke for Dutton and how quickly he had to grow up to protect his younger brothers and mother from an abusive father which is why he is always on high alert and doesn’t trust easily. So to watch Winnie come back into his life and soften all his sharp and jagged edges and break all his “rules” about dating made my heart melt.

Fair warning, this man is going to make your heart rate spike!! I was on the floor after we started to get “eyes on me” and fiercely protective “mine”. Dutton just joined Cade Eaton as my favorite hot, grumpy, single dad cowboy who is next level protective!!!

This review wouldn’t be complete without mentioning the cutest 6 year old; Fischer Stetson! With a heart of gold and his father’s adorable charm, he is easily the most adorable part of this story! Watching his relationship develop with Winnie will make you emotional!

Also…that ending?!! Jess leaving us on such a cliffhanger for Ryder’s story in book 3!

Tropes:
- Grumpy single dad x sunshine
- Bull rider MMC
- Fake dating
- Forbidden romance: brother’s ex girlfriend
- He will burn it all down to protect her
- Eyes on me

I had so many highlighted lines for this one that I couldn't even fit them all in my review.

I loved this book. Danger isn't some sweet cowboy....but he definitely can be. He's the fixer. He's the protector. He's the one willing to get his hands dirty if it means his loved ones are going to be ok. Danger thinks he's a bad guy....and not worthy of anything good.

Winnie? Well she's a little bit sunshine incarnate mixed with sass, strong work ethic, loyalty, a good heart, quick wit, baking skills, and humor...but not good self esteem. I loved that she was tender hearted but not a pushover. Granted she did let Rylee get to her a few times. Ugh I hate that witch.

This book goes to show that even those surrounded by darkness want to be loved...and that feeling forgettable doesn't make it true.

⚠️ Lines:
If this is any indication about what kind of men are out there, there's no hope for me. I might as well start knitting sweaters for my future army of cats.

For the record, I fully support bad decisions made in the name of healing.

Like loving her once was enough for a lifetime. Like his heart clocked out early and never bothered to punch back in.

Great. Here comes a knight in shining dumbass.

"When the time is right, I guess."
"I don't like that phrase. Whose to say when the time is right? What if you miss the right time entirely?"

Life's not gonna stand around waitin' for you to get off the clock.

"Ain't lookin for happiness."
"No...but it's lookin' for you. And it's gettin' tired of you hidin'."

I guess maybe there's something poetic about being...forgettable. Slipping through life without anyone noticing when you're gone."

Smiling like she's fine. Looking like she's anything but.

Men get brave thinkin' nobody's gonna swing back.

Damn right. I'd marry her, build her a f•••ing porch swing, the white picket fence. Even argue with her about stupid paint colors.

You know the thing about being broken like us? Sometimes, if you're lucky, you find somebody else who sees your damage and somehow likes you for it anyway.

This is the most eye contact I've ever had with another human, and I hate it.

"That's easier said than done."
"Most things are."

I want unforgettable. I spent so long trying not to take up too much space that I think people forgot I was even there...I don't want to be forgettable anymore.
