Patrick McNulty continues to be one of my favorite indie horror authors! I loved the demonic possession mixed with zombie apocalypse vibes! Another solid installment in the Monsters & Mayhem collection! 👏

Another killer entry in the series
The latest in the Monsters and Mayhem series is a bullet train that melds demonic possession, high-octane action, character depth, and a wealth of background lore without slowing down a whit. It starts at a rolling boil and Patrick McNulty never drops the temp by a single degree, instead he keeps throwing more hazardous materials in the pot and then slams a lid on it.
The latest in the Monsters and Mayhem series is a bullet train that melds demonic possession, high-octane action, character depth, and a wealth of background lore without slowing down a whit. It starts at a rolling boil and Patrick McNulty never drops the temp by a single degree, instead he keeps throwing more hazardous materials in the pot and then slams a lid on it.

Surely everyone remembers "The Exorcist", right? Well, imagine Father Merrin as an ex-priest haunted by failure, who instead of performing an exorcism, throws Regan in the trunk of a car, and drives away - with Father Karras as the front-seat passenger, only he's a nun with problems of addiction and a deeply traumatic past!
This is essentially the premise of "Devil in Transit", and put this way, it sounds amusing indeed. Fortunately for us horror fans, the book is neither satire nor comedy; in fact, it's a humorless and brutal take on survival, when the population of an entire city has been supernaturally affected and is ready to turn against you, and your past sins are one step away from catching up with you, set on exacting their own revenge. And if you're wondering how much worse things can get, remember that demon in the trunk of your car!
McNulty has exceeded all expectations with this book (it has one of the best opening scenes ever!) He has taken a obviously creepy and horrific situation (a girl possessed, and an ex-priest and a nun trying all alone to save her), and turned it into a gripping tale of multi-layered, emotional and narrative, complexity - complete with amazing action scenes, frantic pursuits, and tentacled monsters; plus, an intricate background lore involving priests, secrets, and evil. From a haunted church set to be deconsecrated, and hordes of the homeless gathering outside, to the hopeless attempts of a old priest to convince the high clergy that they need to act now, the tale soon develops into the fast-paced chronicle of two people's mission to deal with a huge mess on their hands. All the while taking care to respect that one insane rule of this case of demonic possession: no matter how bad things get, you do not kill the possessed; if you do, then you're next in line!
McNulty writes clear, precise prose. He doesn't hold back on the horror when the story calls for it. He does not aim simply to please. "Devil in Transit", as all of his horror novels, shows how in the era of AI plagiarism and fake authorship, it's still possible for writers to come up with their own original ideas, and write engaging and obsessively readable novels! Highly recommend!

Devil In Transit is a thrilling supernatural banger about a young girl possessed by an ancient evil that's finally woken up, a man who is the only one that can stop it from being released, and another woman who gets caught up in the middle of everything.
This ancient evil inside the girl can only be restrained with certain symbols and runes. And once Shaw, a rough tough man who has clearly experienced too much, finally subdues the girl he must keep her alive long enough to get from Mexico to the US where his partners plan on containing her. But of course things aren't going to be so easy. There's a militia gang on his heels hellbent on revenge for something in the past and a woman who doesn't understand what's going on but is a reluctant partner.
This book has all the action and terrors of a supernatural road trip from hell and each page is another thrilling adventure throughout. The stakes are high, the body count is plentiful, and there's no guarantee of a happy outcome. The Monsters And Mayhem series has been fantastic so far and this one will have your heart racing. I highly recommend it.

Teaming up with ex priest Nolan Shaw, they race to contain the threat whilst being chased by militants and possessed civilians. Will they prevent the release of a horror that will destroy the world.
The Monsters and Mayhem Collection continues and I love this series. This starts at 100mph and never lets up, as does the fear and horror they encounter at every turn. It is a manic terrifying journey to neutralise the danger, across borders, through enemies and the possessed. The body horror is elite, gruesome and juicy, the imagery and degradation around them is horrifying and heartbreaking, the evil is insidious and relentless and both main characters are haunted by their mistakes and desperate to survive.
I devoured this in a few hours and at under 200 pages, this packs a hell of a punch, moving at breakneck speed to its conclusion. Breathtaking (literally, you will need a lie down afterwards!).
