Omega Underworld #1

Sold to the Wrong Alpha

Rate this book
Ren Valois has spent his whole life paying his father's debts. Tonight, that debt is four hundred thousand dollars — and the currency is him.
Auctioned to the highest bidder in an underground casino, Ren is sold to Dimitri Reznov for seven hundred thousand dollars. Then the lights go out.
A whispered instruction. A scrap of paper. A name and an address.
He runs.
The man waiting at the end of that address is Brody Kovac — cold, controlled, and carrying a scent that short-circuits every defense Ren has spent twenty-one years building. Brody isn't his buyer. He's something Ren doesn't know how to name, and doesn't know how to want.
But Reznov paid seven hundred thousand for what he considers his property. He's not the kind of man who accepts a loss.
And Ren is not the kind of omega who gives up what he just found.
Sold to the Wrong Alpha is a dark MM omegaverse romance with slow burn tension, found family, and two men learning — badly, stubbornly, painfully — how to trust.

Zaskoczyło. Fajna książka, nie spodziewałam się. Szkoda, że kolejne tomy są trudno dostępne.

In general, it's not that horrible (I finished the book), but there are a few problems:

-The repetition is excessive (raisins and walnuts are mentioned 69 times 🫠), and some phrases are repeated several times.
-Chapters 14 and 15 are basically the same. I don't think the author did any proofreading.
-I think it may have been written by AI.
-The plot feels empty. We have no idea what kind of world the characters live in, apart from the fact that it's an omegaverse.
-The characters are also underdeveloped. Brody seems to know only how to growl.

I think there are much better MM omegaverse books out there, so you can skip this one. 🙄

This book had me hooked from the start. I couldn't stop turning pages and feeling anxious from the first chapter, but in the best way.

The setting is unsettling. Ren's dad have debts and he, once again, takes advantadge of his omega son to pay them. Ren has been used countless times to pay for his father's debts, but this time it's even worse, his dad is auctioning him for a whole year, and the winner of the auction is someone Ren already knows, a brutal alpha who will for sure destroy him in a year or less. Luckyly for Ren, someone inside the auction helps him and he finds himself immersed in an operation to not only save his life but to end the back market of omegas in this cruel world. If this weren't enough, the man responsible of saving him and hundreds of omegas is an alpha that breaks Ren's thoroughly built defences. Ren is not happy about it. Brody is not especially fun or sweet, and Ren has enough going through life to think about anything else but surviving.

Not only the action of the book has you skipping heartbeats, the relationship between Brody and Ren is beautiful and hot, and with the exact amount of anguish. Apart from the main couple, the side characters are great, all of them have a distinct personality and it makes their team work really well, it is beautiful to see the trust between them, and there are some fun interactions too that are delightful to see in a book with such heavy topics.

If you like love stories born from difficult situations, alpha/omega dynamics and a team of very skilled people fighting the good fight, this book is for you.

I liked this romance between an Alpha Brody and an Omega Ten. I have mixed feelings about Ren he was afraid to fall for Brody and being used as a slave. This point is logical and understood, but still Ten acted a bit like a child. Nonetheless this book was very good. I'm looking forward for the next book in this new series.
