This was a really great true to life book in a series of "Real Life Stories" books. It's written in a way that children can understand but not so basic that it's boring or doesn't tell a story. One side of the page tells you how the families packed, how they cooked, how they ate, where they were going, etc. on the other side of the page were quotes from real people's journals and diaries saying various things pertaining to the trip.
