1943. WW2 is raging in Europe. Kurt Müller is living in London. While working for British Intelligence he discovers a photograph of his girlfriend, Gudrun, among the possessions of a German agent. Then he gets a postcard from Gudrun, posted in Germany, and he knows the Gestapo has taken her…
After 27 years working with computers in a variety of industries: Oil exploration, pharma, hospitals, manufacturing, shipping etc., I retired early and began to write. I've been writing full time since 2007, and have completed hundreds of short stories and self-published 7 novels.

Another provocative thriller from JJ Toner. Continuing the adventures of Kurt Muller, A Postcard from Hamburg explores both physical and psychological effects of war.
From the flattening of Hamburg to the individual choices that result in lives and souls changed or lost, this novel kept me gripped while listening, and thinking about the character’s situation ever since – which I’m sure will continue for some time.
Has the human race learned anything from history? After listening to this, I’m really not sure that we have. A must read.
Another cracking story from JJ Toner! Kurt Muller is working voluntarily for British Intelligence. He's on mainland Britain at HQ when he receives 'a postcard from Hamburg' from his girlfriend Gudrun, who was abducted in Dublin by the Gestapo on her way to collect her daughter Anna from school. Kurt goes AWOL and goes to Germany via occupied France to rescue Gudrun. On arriving in Hamburg, Kurt learns that Gudrun is really still in England. He has been captured, beaten, tortured and chased by the Gestapo and the SS, but he manages to get back to England in a stolen Junkers 52 with some French Resistance fighters and an SOE spy. Kurt is helped by British Intelligence to locate Gudrun's location and he releases her just hours before she is to be executed. They have three days together before Kurt goes back to work and Gudrun returns to Dublin and her daughter, who's been staying with Kurt's Irish mother.
Definitely a WW2 Set of Books ... Just Not Great ...
I had high hopes for a REALLY GOOD set of books to read. There is a continuous story throughout the 3 Black Orchestra Books, but it just isn’t well written nor terribly captivating ... darn ... On the other hand — credit should be given to the author for immersing the reader in WW2 Europe ... there are many, many details that clearly had to have been well researched and pieced together.
Not a bad read, but the story is like a fairy tale - may be written for the movies. If you are somehow confined to the house , say due to a snow storm, this sort of book is ideal to kill the time.
Kindle Unlimited, main thing is have trouble getting in to thrillers, even ones so really think there should be a rating that indicates I personally did not dislike it but think others would, maybe this will suffice.Did read through all 3 listed.
The Black Orchestra (WW2 spy thriller) The Wings of the Eagle (WW2 spy thriller): Black Orchestra book 2 (The Black Orchestra) A Postcard from Hamburg (WW2 spy story) (The Black Orchestra Book 3)
A great read. The plot was authentic. Getting to know the personalities made this novel interesting and compelling. What I particularly appreciate was the author, namely that not all Germans were bad cannot all Be its were good men. That anyway brings forth that which is admirable and that which is not. A job well done, Mr. J.J. Tonero
A great novel. The plot was authentic. The story real. Getting to know the personalities made it all the better. A job well done Mr. J.J. Toner
Lots of potential. The writing was not especially engaging. (All characters sounded the same, no difference in tone or anything.) Protagonist's thoughts sometimes sounded more like a college professor lecturing than organic internalized thoughts. Things like that were disruptive to the flow of the story.
Another fast paced World War spy thriller. The story is built around a futile visit all the way to Hamburg by the chief protagonist on the basis of a "postcard from Hamburg". The ease with which he accomplishes his journey in the occupied France and then in the war torn Germany is a trifle surprising though.
Another fine story, wished it hadn't ended! A very moving story line f u 'll of intrigue, edge of your seat, nail bitter. Page after page it was so exciting, enjoyed every moment, had to give it 5 Stars. Certainly hope there are more of Kurt Muller to come!!
Great entertaining Novel... A journey with two spies during World War II 2 different missions A mission a change the issue of the war and a personal mission to find a love one... Fast and easy reading ...
