Jesse has never had much, and leaves prison in donated clothes, with a few dollars and an address, a potential job with a dude ranch. Before he can get there, he is handed responsibility for his five-year old son, a child more troubled than himself.
The struggles of Jesse and Timmy to become a family will tug at your heartstrings, sometimes overshadowing Eva's problems with her father and keeping the ranch solvent. All ends well; however, as a good romance should. The author deals with painful topics of abandonment and neglect in a realistic yet sensitive way, and shows how a loving environment can support true healing.
I started this book on Saturday and finished it on Monday because I couldn't put it down. Jesse is a young man with a troubled childhood who just gets out of prison in Arizona. Jesse gave his heart to the Lord while in prison. A minister helps him secure a job at a ranch. Jesse doesn't arrive at the ranch alone but with five-year-old Timmy, the son he never knew he had. Jesse juggles his job, parenthood, and an attraction to the boss's daughter while dealing with Timmy's issues, parole issues, and legal issues. A great read with a happy ending.
Finally a Hero has a hero that you can't help but root for. Just out of prison, Jesse Campbell has the son he didn't know he had dumped on him. Now, he has to learn how to go straight, keep the job he was offered as a single man, and test his faith. Eva has everything including the habit of judging someone on sight. Both fight the attraction. I couldn't help but laugh as the two finally find their happily ever after. This is the best book by Pamela Tracy yet, and I can't wait to read the next two books featuring the sisters.
Jesse find out he is a father the day he gets out if prison. The boy was left with Jesse mother by the boy's mother. A really good story. This book really touch my heart. Jesse had problems trying to get to know his son and trying to get custody but overcame them. This book should be made into a movie but if it was nothing should be changed. This is one of the best love inspired books I have read. All the characters are so real.
At it's heart, it's basically a well-used plot line. A man finds out he's a father (the woman kept the news of her pregnancy, delivery, and the child from him). The child ends up with the man for whatever reason, and he has to learn to be a father.
I liked the characters. I liked that Jesse was honest in admitting that he was guilty of the crime that he got sent to prison for. I liked that he used the time there to better himself--both in becoming a Christian and in learning some skills such as cooking, upholstery, etc. I liked that he was willing to take on fatherhood of a child who had some issues and rarely flinched at it--he was committed to trying to do what was best for his son.
Eva and her father have an odd relationship. He seems to want the ranch to stay as it was and she wants to make it a destination place. I haven't quite figured out why the other two daughters don't want to be at the ranch. There's a brief snippet about one of the other two daughters but with all of them having names that begin with E it was tough to differentiate the two that weren't big parts of this story.
I didn't like Mitch stirring up trouble just because he wanted Eva and felt Jesse was in his way. Mitch seemed to be a bad influence and while I admire Jacob for trying to help out an old friend, I was surprised he would put so much stock in what Mitch said knowing what Mitch was like.
I enjoyed this book's storyline. This book's storyline was sad 😔. I really liked the Christian ✝️ theme in this story. I really liked Jesse's character. I felt sorry for Jesse. I really liked Eva's character. I loved ❤️ Timmy. I really liked the ending.

Loved the setting and the conflict in Finally a Hero. We’ll written with interesting characters. If you like sweet, western romance, this is a good one.
Finally A Hero a The Rancher's Daughters series by Pamela Tracy was a very interesting book. Showing there is hope no matter your past problems. Jesse Campbell just got out of prison. He hadn't seen his mother for seven years. It was a big surprise when she is there to pick him up when he gets out of prison. He didn't want to go with her but he did. A minister at the prison got him a job at a ranch. His mother takes him to the town. There she tells him he has a young son. Jesse didn't know he has a son. Who is on the floor of the car backseat. They go into a restaurant to eat. The child does not talk. Timmy is very dirty and in torn clothes. The mother goes outside to take a phone call then she gets on the back of a motorcycle with some guy and they take off. Jesse goes on to his job with his son Timmy, since his mother left him the car. The rancher has a beautiful daughter, Eva Hubrecht. The rancher is giving him a job because the minister ask him to. You read about the boys problems and what goes on with Jesse while at the ranch and who he get involved with. A must read. A VERY GOOD DIFFERENT BOOK.
Finally a Hero is an engaging and heartwarming vacation read. Just released from prison, Jesse Campbell is determined to "make good" but he is met with challenges from the start. The mother who abandoned him years ago turns up to offer him a ride - and to introduce him to the 5-year-old son he didn't know he had. She stops at a restaurant for lunch and, true to form, slips out the back to stick him with the check and dump the scared little boy into his arms.
Although Jesse has been promised a job on a dude ranch, a young child was not in the plan. How will Jesse care for horses, help out around the ranch, and give riding lessons while tending to a child who has special needs of his own?
Eva, the boss's daughter, is concerned about finances and wishes her father wouldn't give second chances to so many ne'er do wells. Jesse knows he has no right to long for a "Hallmark life" but he hopes he can make his son feel safe and loved.
A feel-good tale about redeeming the past and making all things new. Highly recommended.
Finally a Hero by Pamela Tracy The Rancher's Daughters Book One Jesse Campbell's life had been tough and it was about to get tougher. He was leaving prison a changed young man. He had a job waiting for him and he was now a Christian. Nothing is ever as easy as it seems. His first challenge walking through the gate was the woman waiting for him. His mother. And she had a big surprise for him.
Eva Hubrecht needed to get their ranch in the black and her dad wasn't helping much. For instance, hiring an ex-con was not in their budget. Especially this man. Eva's two sisters had moved on and it was up to her to keep things going.
I loved this story. Jesse faced the real struggle of facing the world after being in prison. Being prejudged before he had a chance to prove himself. And on top of that, he finds out he has a son he never knew about. What a great journey this story takes the reader on as it shows the different struggles of the characters. http://justjudysjumbles.blogspot.com/...
Another really good book by Pamela Tracy. I love cowboys (obviously) and books set in Arizona (also, obviously). This book hits both those marks. Very sweet, tender romance. I enjoyed it.
