It’s a well written story but Caleb is such a self-pitying, self-righteous idiot (yes, I know there was a trauma response underpinning his reasoning, but still…) that I found myself internally screaming ‘woman, run from that red flag! You deserve better!’

This had such great potential, but it unfortunately fell flat. There was more inner dialogue than actual dialogue between characters. The same things were repeated over and over.. then again for good measure. Also, the first time she meets Bear, she holds a treat in her hand and waits patiently.. he takes to her rather quickly. Then later in the book, she recalls him hiding behind Caleb and staying pressed to the wall. That never happened and it’s little details like those that will pull you out of the story. That’s not the only inconsistency either, there are others.
Now, I’m a sucker for a second chance romance. There’s nothing like the longing and the tension between the characters. I felt the longing in this book, but I think the tension just wasn’t all the way there. Probably because the lack of actual conversations between Caleb and Regan. We didn’t really get much of them together so it was kind of hard to connect with them.
I think if the author took out a majority of the inner thoughts, which were always the same, and gave us more of Caleb and Regan reconnecting and getting to know each other as adults, it would have been an excellent read. Their stilted, one word conversations just didn’t do it for me. It was also heavy on the imagery and metaphors.. and reads very AI.

I’m officially emotionally invested in the Callahans and I’m not sure how I’m supposed to move on from this one. 🥹🤎
Reckoning had everything I want from a small-town romance — complicated characters, family drama, plenty of emotional tension and that cosy Wild Briar Creek atmosphere that makes you want to move there immediately.
I really enjoyed getting to know the characters and watching their relationship develop. There’s a lovely balance between the romance and the wider family storyline, and I especially loved the feeling that you’re stepping further into a world where everyone is connected and everyone has a little bit of history.
It wasn’t quite a 5⭐️ for me, but it was such an enjoyable read. There were a couple of moments where the pacing didn’t completely work for me, but overall I was invested, entertained and very much here for the Callahan family chaos.

ultimo volume di questa serie su uno dei cugini
ultimo volume della serie ed è sul silenzioso caleb, di cui sapevamo solo che era un ex militare
qui la storia è bella, poichè lui non solo soffre di PTSD ma anche il suo legame con il cane è tutto costruito sulla rinascita e fiducia, la parte invece sulle sue decisioni verso regan la protagonista sinceramente è un pò infantile (ma come si fa a credere a una fo@@sfoca@@???)
comunque il loro riavvicinamento è ben scritto e sviluppato, con passaggi a tratti commoventi in particolare per il lavoro di veterinario di lei
la cover stavolta non c'entra nulla coi personaggi mentre il titolo sì............nessun errore di traduzione
preso in unlimited e speriamo presto la storia sull'altro fratello

The main character, Caleb is one tough cookie to crack. Until Regan comes around. His cookie starts crumbling after Regan sows up. Never say never.

I really enjoyed this series and this book was just fantastic, I highly recommend ❤️
