I was so hyped for this book and my goodness it does not disappoint on any level. This hits the ground running and is incredibly fast paced, which is exactly what you want. This is the last book in the trilogy, all the dominoes put in place in Dreamhiker are ready to be knocked down. We know the world, we know the characters, we know the motivations, what is left is pure fantasy action. And that is exactly what we get.

Effy is running towards her destiny of defending Ferth County, she uses the conflict to distract herself from the relationships in her life. However, while we are in the calm before the storm she has to grapple with the really hard task of letting others help, not trying to do everything on her own, and her strained family life. Kite is determined to do what’s right and also determined to come out on top with hardly any casualties, but this is war and unfortunately there is going to be collateral damage. I really enjoyed Kite’s journey to becoming who he was born to be in this. He is very aware of the pressure on his shoulders of being the most powerful venomborn so far. If he falls, then so does Ferth County. Loved the fox wyverns! I would recommend this to EVERYBODY. If you like fantasy and you haven’t started this series then what are you doing with your life?

The Dragonbound Empire is coming to Ferth. Relationships will be tested. Will the skills our two venomborn have built be enough? We’re in the endgame now and as Kite himself puts it – “Let’s go to war.”
