Assassin's Oath is one of those books I received from an author, set for release on 29 October 2026, that I found difficult to get into. This is not a slight against that author or his writings; I believe that it is more of a mea culpa, because I had only had the opportunity to read one other book that this author has written. I think I found it so difficult to get into because it's the third book in the series, and I hadn't had a chance to read any of the others.

That being said, the author's writing is fast-paced and full of suspense, as this series follows Eve Sheppard, a Canadian investment banker who was leading a quiet suburban life, who has discovered that her husband is not the man that he had said that he was. After discovering some semblance of the truth, Eve soon discovers that his secrets have also put a target on her back as she is forced to flee for her life.

When Eve’s husband doesn’t return home, it triggers a sequence of events that changes Eve’s life forever. Secrets grow ever bigger as she tries to discover what happened and who he was while on the run herself from those who aren’t finished getting what they want.

Forced to flee for her life, Eve must travel from Canada to the far reaches of the globe (including the Grand Cayman Islands, Bolivia, and Jordan). With no formal training, she has to stay one step ahead of professional hitmen who believe she possesses valuable information. To survive, she is forced to rely on the subtle survival tips her husband casually shared with her over the years while trying to uncover his hidden identity.

With her husband still missing, and left with nothing but a cryptic message and a bag filled with more dangerous secrets than answers. Eve realizes that everyone around her has something to hide and is willing to kill her to keep those secrets buried. Despite having no desire to use a weapon, this ordinary wife must continue to figure out how to hold her own, uncover the central mystery, and survive the relentless assassins tracking her every move.

In this latest novel in the Assassin's Wife series, Eve Sheppard has survived longer than the average person should have, definitely longer than her enemies anticipated. As to my rating, I would give this author a definite 3.5 stars out of five, as this is definitely an author who would be enjoyed by action aficionados who enjoy fast-paced, clean, clever, and white-knuckled entertainment . Fans of authors such as David Archer, Bob Asher, and J.T. Sawyer should definitely check out this exciting author, because I believe that they will find a new favourite.

Another installment in this series and it was the best! It’s still a cliffhanger, but what a way to end for now. I’ll be chomping at the bit until the next one is available. This was action personified from the beginning. The gunfire scenes were on another level. If you like action thrillers, you’re in for a treat.

Assassins' wife calls in favors to try to locate her husband - 4 stars

Eve Shepherd's husband disappeared while on a "business" trip in Turkey a few weeks previously. Eve got involved with tracking down a laptop computer that went missing from a Toronto police evidence locker following up after an automobile crash. The laptop was supposed to be a part of an ongoing police investigation and may have information about her husband's whereabouts. The complex prehistory eventually pointed to an organization of criminals called "Concord" managed by a consortium of international criminals. Concord's purpose is to keep criminals from killing each other.

Action starts in Toronto, Canada, with assaults by automobile and gunplay, graduating to taking hostages and attempts to recover data from a laptop computer that was damaged in an automobile crash. Police corruption led to the computer laptop being the focus of multiple distinctly non-police investigators trying to learn the contents of the laptop's data.

The search for the missing assassin moves to Saudi Arabia and Jordan; activity includes nighttime desert trips, gun battles, and much carnage. The all-action-all-the-time intense search includes support and counter-support from governments, security organizations, and the cartel of overseers for the organized criminals. The most interesting part of the description was the desert - both rocks and packed sand with constantly blowing fine sand. When it is nighttime in the desert, thermal imaging cameras can detect warm-blooded intruders and vehicles from quite a distance. Hiding is not possible...especially when there is a traitor in the group.

When all is said, you will need to read the next (fourth) in the series. In the meantime, check the closures on your body armor. You might want to acquire a few more crates of powerful weapons. You and the search team will still need more weapons and ammunition for the ongoing chase and search for the missing assassin...and Eve's husband as well.

This latest story has Eve still trying to get information where Cole is. Eve is aware of a tablet which was in Vale's vehicle when he died and it was not found. She determined that Cross, a detective on the scene, had taken it and had given it to someone to get the information that was on it. Cross had given it to Quinn, an IT specialist, who was attempting to restore the data was accosted by two individuals who stood by while he was working. Eve managed to free Quinn and in turn he gathered portions of the data. During that time she also tried to get Daniel, an Interpol agent, to get involved. Eventually Eve traveled to Amman Jordan where she was to get info on Cole. A location was identified and a team was put together to try and rescue Cole if he was there. On arriving and when making an attempt, they called into a trap. It seemed one of the team sold them out.

To find out what was discovered on Vale's files, what happened during the attack, who was the culprit who sold them out and how it eventually ended, then you need to read this book, you won't be disappointed!

Once again Eve Shepherd strives to locate her husband Cole and learn what his occupation has involved, but the trail is checkered and all sorts of characters are becoming involved. Sometimes these people are out to assist her and other times they are out to stop her but she perseveres with the pursuit, and is assisted by Dan McAllister who was one of Cole’s closest friends and someone who has always acted as a friend and protector. Although Eve learned many tricks from her husband when they were together, she has become a powerhouse and exhibits many characteristics that Cole would have been perhaps proud of or even amazed at!
There are many twists and turns in this story and so many new characters are introduced, both for and against the good guys that at times it is difficult to know whose side the characters are really on. Nevertheless, this is an entertaining read, and is recommended for those readers wanting fast paced action accompanying violence.

With each book he writes, Ethan Jones has continued to polish his craft, with this book being even better written & more satisfying than some of his earlier works. It's hard to believe that it's been 16 years in book time since Justin Hall was introduced, and in every book I've read, he's gotten more developed & more complex, which I like. I'm a character reader; I get into the characters and what makes the man or woman who/what they are. I received a courtesy Kindle copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving a review." Another good action episode for this series as Eve Shepherd continues the search for her missing husband, Cole. If action stories are for you, you don't want to miss this series. With every step forward in her search, Eve finds more people trying to stop her. And with each of these steps we see what a person will do to save the person they love. There are surprise attacks from people you think you can trust, and help from those you never thought would be on your side. There are a few dead spots while Eve is waiting for information, but the wait is necessary to avoid being killed. But, the wait thru these pages is worth the effort to see what Eve has to do next in her search. And the fact that she comes out of it alive is worth it, but the surprises are more worth the read.
Highly recommend this series.

Eve is getting closer to uncovering the truth, but the danger only seems to increase. Packed with nonstop action, unexpected plot twists, and plenty of uncertainty about whom she can trust, the story keeps the tension high from beginning to end.
Ethan Jones does an excellent job maintaining the momentum of the series while continuing Eve’s journey. Just when it seems she may finally have the answers she needs, another twist changes everything.
The ending leaves readers wanting more and eager to find out what happens next. A thrilling addition to the Assassin’s Wife series for fans of clean suspense and action-packed thrillers.

I received an advanced copy from the author. This is not a stand alone novel. This is part of a series. The last book left off in a cliffhanger and this one ends in another cliffhanger ! The series is a well crafted series packed with action and suspense. Eve Shepard a trading analyst whose husband goes missing. She finds out he is an assassin and certain people want him dead. Eve gets thrown into a hornet’s nest as she tries to discover if her husband is alive or dead. This book is filled with action packed suspense. The series is captivating and keeps you on the edge of your seats. I cannot wait for the next book!

Ethan Jones masterfully continues the Eve Shepherd series in Great form

Eve Shepherd has an issue she can't put down: Her husband Cole has disappeared. But her real question is why has this happened.

At the beginning she finds a possible message left for her possible by Cole. But is it real?
So Eve begins her search for Cole. However, threats still awaits her as she continues her search for Cole: a mysterious organization named the Concord may be after her; can she trust possible unknown partners; and she fears potential meetings with gunmen!

Ethan Jones always write a novel that is difficult to put down once you start reading! And this is one of them!

Wonderful written, this episode takes us on new twists and turns of plot, character development, action and setting. Difficult to put down! Deep into her search for her husband Cole, Eve is deep into a discovery that, while her life is not what she thought it was, she continues to find herself prepared and able to function in this clandestine world. I quite enjoyed this read, a fresh and complete novel that moves the series along.  Worth reading the first two novels and then diving into an author binge!

Eve Shepherd continues her search for her husband. I’ve been impressed with her zeal in searching for him. The book kept me reading late at night. It held my interest from the first chapter on. Ethan Jones presents the reader with all the elements of a thriller, an adventure story: danger, road chases, mystery, and much more. Parts of the novel kept me on the edge of my chair. Will Eve survive the search? Will she find her husband? I highly recommend the third novel in Eve’s search for truth.

This thriller grabs your attention from the start and never lets go! I was so intrigued by the storyline that I had to go get the first two book as read them as well. You don't need to read the first two books before this one, however. It's easy to understand what happened once you start reading. I didn't want to stop turning the pages until the very end. It has a well-thought-out storyline and a writing style that makes you feel like you are part of the action. Highly recommended!

Eve’s never ending hope to find her husband provides us with another adventure. She teams up with some new people and doesn’t know who she can trust. Can Eve find him and stay alive. It’s a never a dull moment . Plenty of adventure, full of risk, and not much reward as they battle the secret organization Concord.

Another action filled read from Ethan Jones. Eve Shepherd raises the stakes even higher as she continues her search for her missing husband Cole. Loved it, Eve is getting so close to Cole now…non-stop action from the beginning to the end. Once again, this book is better than the last one. Ethan continues to twist the stories that keeps the reader on their toes from page one, didn't want to put the book down.
