Where is book 2!?

Residuals was a five 🌟 ride from start to finish. I still can’t believe this was the author’s first book, the pacing, the tension, and the character depth had me locked in from page one. Judah was calculated, ruthless, and cold, the kind of antagonist who makes every scene feel dangerous. Kamari, on the other hand, was a man who made a mistake but fought his way back to love, protection, and accountability. He carried guilt, grief, and responsibility until it nearly broke him, and that made his journey hit even harder. Keisha? A terrible mother through and through ,she tore her daughter down every chance she got. And Ashley… whew. She should have told Kamari. There was absolutely no reason for that secret to drag into a book two. Still, she was a devoted mother who loved her children with everything she had. This story had twists, emotion, and characters who felt real in all their flaws and fire. I’m already counting down to book two. I hope the author knows just how incredible this debut truly was.

This is a great book, pulled me out of my reading slump! However I will say the secret in the book was frustrating me the entire time and I was just ready for Ashley to tell the man. 🫩

Greatttt book , I happened to come across promo on TikTok . Devoured it within a day !! The drama kept me hooked . While I usually stay away from second chance romances, this book is an exception !!

Here’s a review that says it without giving the whole book away:

This book had potential, but the execution was hypocritical as hell.

At first, I was locked in. The setup was messy, dramatic, and had enough secrets, revenge, grief, and betrayal to make a solid street drama. Khamari coming back after being presumed dead, Ashley being caught between the past and the life she built after him, Judah being connected to everybody’s pain — all of that could have been good.

But the longer the book went on, the more uneven the writing became. Certain characters were allowed to cause chaos, traumatize children, shoot up houses, abuse people, lie, manipulate, and use women as pawns, while other characters were punished like they were the only villain in the story.

Tiana was the biggest example of that. She was wrong for what she did, absolutely. But she was also one of the most human and emotionally layered characters in the book. She was abused, humiliated, cheated on, emotionally abandoned, and carrying deep grief from infertility and pregnancy loss. Instead of giving her a real arc, the story turned her into a punching bag. Her pain was used for drama, then the narrative basically invited everybody to degrade her.

What bothered me most was the hypocrisy. The book wanted me to condemn Tiana for traumatizing Ashley’s daughter, which is fair, but then acted like other characters had not also put those same children in danger. A whole house was shot up. People were killed. Grown men kept escalating violence, but the story still seemed determined to make Tiana the main villain because she was in the way.

I also did not like how the women kept fighting each other while the men created most of the damage. Judah was abusive and possessive. Noah was immature, messy, and used women for attention and revenge. Khamari’s side caused plenty of destruction too, but somehow the narrative kept trying to frame certain people as righteous while Tiana got punished over and over.

That is where the book lost me.

There was a good story buried in here, but the moral compass was all over the place. I can handle messy characters. I actually like flawed characters. What I don’t like is when the book picks favorites and pretends some characters’ wrongs count while everybody else gets excused.

Cliffhanger

I’m really starting to despise some books with 2 and 3 parts. I’d rather have a 700-800 page book than wait til who knows when for the next one. Also, flashbacks I skimmed through. That’s just my personal opinion though. Had potential to be 4-5 stars.

Not my cup of tea. Keeping kids from their father for no real reason is the dumbest thing ever. To be forgiven because your the MC is even worse. To go to another woman’s house and spend the night is crazy work and the wife gets put out is even more crazy to me. How is she the bad guy? I don’t agree with treating the children wrong, I would’ve beat her ass too for pulling a gun on me and my babies too, but she should have never been in that woman’s house in the first place. The MFC had nothing going for herself at least up to the part I decided to DNF.

Him playing dead was dumb too. Everyone was stupid in this.

Don’t Be Blinded by the Glam!!!

Why? Why? Why?

Those babies have been through so much already. They didn’t need any more trauma. My God, it was one heartbreaking situation after another. I know people say children are resilient, but there has to be a line somewhere. As adults, we’re often so selfish that we only think about ourselves and forget how our actions affect the kids caught in the middle.

This is the first full-length book I’ve read from this author, and when I tell you this story was deliciously juicy, I mean it. The twists, the turns, the unexpected revelations—every time I thought I knew where the story was headed, the author threw something else at me. Every corner you turn leads to something you never saw coming.

And those brothers? I absolutely loved them. They brought much-needed humor and balance to such an emotional story. They had me laughing even when everything else was falling apart.

Now, the father on paper only? Whew. I didn’t care for him from the very beginning, and by the end, my opinion hadn’t changed one bit. Unfortunately, this isn’t the end of the story, so now I have to wait for the next installment. As a patient reader, I’ll survive, but I’m already preparing myself because I have a feeling the next book is going to be just as emotional and heartbreaking. My biggest hope is that the children finally get some peace because they’ve endured more than enough already.

And that mother? Lord have mercy. I hope she experiences every bit of the misery she inflicted on others. Not everyone who becomes a mother is meant to be one, and she is a perfect example of that.

This was an outstanding read. The characters were fully developed, the emotions felt real, and the storytelling kept me invested from beginning to end.

5 out of 5 stars.

I’m eagerly waiting for the next installment. Snaps all around! Or as they say these days, “clock it.” Baby, you clocked it.

Thank you for sharing your gifts and talents with the world, especially with readers like me.

⭐️⭐️✨ (2.5–3 stars)

So first, I’ve realized I do not like the trope of a man pretending to be dead and then coming back to play Captain Save a Ho. 😭

The story started off engaging enough. Ashley is in a relationship with Kamari, and Kamari “dies,” leaving a pregnant Ashley to fend for herself. She eventually links up with his opp, Judah, and falls into an arrangement with him. Honestly, it had the potential to do something CRAZY.

However… why in the black fuck do I care about the siblings’ relationships? Why do I care about the gym? I found myself skimming through scenes until we got back to Kamari and Ashley because that was the part I actually cared about.

Tiana was wrong, but she wasn’t wrong because she was just some spiteful bitch. She was wrong because she was constantly an afterthought when it came to her husband, Judah. The first fight between Ashley and Tiana actually made perfect sense.

The fight where Ashley’s dumb ass leaves her kids with her trifling-ass mom, Keisha? Completely unnecessary and had me rolling my eyes. All that energy Ashley had for Tiana should’ve been used to knock Keisha off this planet. The way she talked to Ashley’s children, the way she talked to Ashley… and then finally giving the kids to Judah? Like… what?

Also, the secret being kept a secret until the literal last page??? The book was not good enough to drag that out for that long. Then you have the nerve to leave it on a cliffhanger? TUHHA. 😭

Chile, anyway. One and done. I won’t know what happens to Kamari, Ashley, Judah, Keisha, Aria, or Zaire because I’m not coming back. TikTok lied and I’m hurt. 😂

part 2 plz

I’m a give this book 5 stars due to this being my first time reading from this author and from me seeing on other reviews that this is her first book. From beginning to the end this book has you on edge and suspense about what’s going to happen or who’s going to take out who ! In my opinion this book didn’t need a sequel but I understand wanting the readers to get to know all of the characters, their stories and reasons and how everything and anyone is connected some kind of way! What I will say is either Kamari wasn’t reading the room or not listening to Ashley when she was telling him about her struggles after his alleged death. She said in so many words Aria was his !!!!

This book was a roller coaster of emotion but I had to give it its flowers. This is honestly the fastest I ever even finished a book.

Ashley pissed me off sometimes not telling Kamari he’s arias dad like he deserved to know !!! Now I gotta wait for the next book to see the reaction. Kamari was so messed up for leaving ash like that and not even having his family make sure she’s good like what the hell…

But I loved this story and the plot so much I need judahs ass DEAD and Keisha dead too cause wth is wrong with her ???

I love the moretti family tho they had me actually laughing out loud in some parts. All in all this book really was just that good and I did not want to stop reading at all. I can’t wait for the next one to come out and please this year:(

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Great story telling

Y’all… I devoured these 400 pages. 😮‍💨📚

This book had me in a chokehold from start to finish. The secrets? Wild. The chaos? Constant. The loyalty? Tested. The brotherhood and sisterhood? Everything. The mama drama? Whew. And the character growth? Beautifully done.

Just when I thought I knew where the story was going, another twist came out of nowhere and had me questioning everything. 😭

If you love stories filled with drama, family bonds, messy situations, healing, and enough twists and turns to keep you hooked, add this one to your TBR immediately.

Possible Spoilers: When I first started reading this book, I was so hooked, but it was a little repetitive. There were so many opportunities to just tell the damn truth. The boxing ring was the perfect time because they were letting it all out. Ash was the perfect example of why you always have your own. It’s nothing worse than being in a relationship/ situationship you can’t afford to leave. The secret was getting on my nerves. Her mother was trash and I mean absolute garbage. I enjoyed this read.

3.5⭐️ i enjoyed this read, it kept me interested. ashley is the perfect example of why you always need to have your own, even when you have a man/partner who got a bunch of money bc you can just be left with nothing in a heartbeat. she was also getting on my nerves with that secret, every time you turn around she’s like “it’s not the right time” like girl get it together…she’s honestly dead wrong for that. anyway, i need the second book.

Highly Recommend!

This book was so good! From beginning to end! Lord! The cliffhanger is about to give me a heart attack. I knew he was gonna find out in a crazy way! I already know he’s about to burn the city down to get Aria back! I just hope him and Ashley can shake back from this! I’m going to be on edge for the next part. This book was by far one of the best I’ve read this year. It only took me a day and a half to finish. If I could give it 100 stars I would!

When The World As You Know It Changes

Halimah M. Ok what a great start in your new endeavor. As long as it was it it kept my attention from start to finish. To see what jealousy and envy can cause baby it's some lessons to be learned in this read. Im very curious to see how this plays out. 🤗🤗🤗🤗

Great story!!!

Spoiler I hate a cliffhanger with a to be continued!!! Other than that this book is a good read. I fell in love with the young love Kamari and Aria had. The heartbreak and add the twist and turns keep you going from page to page. I couldn’t put it down. I can’t wait to read the next part and more from this author!

Great Read

The only reason this didn't get 5 stars is because there was a cliffhanger. The romance is a slow burn but the plot line kept me engaged from beginning to end. I was yelling at the FMC like a movie, just tell him girl! Awesome book for a new author better than most seasoned writers honestly.

Issa series y’all

This was 400 pages some parts were redundant. Ashley is not a strong character when it comes to standing up for herself. I feel like all of the brothers are going to have a book. Hopefully part 2 is around the river bend.
