In a workplace ruled by optics and ambition, one secret romance could cost them everything—including the love neither saw coming.
Britney Caldwell’s life is finally falling into place. She’s perfected the art of casual flings and professional polish, has a tight-knit friend group, and is about to start her dream job as a lawyer. Feeling untouchable, she allows herself one reckless night with a charming stranger, fully convinced it will remain a delicious secret she never revisits. But when she walks into her new firm and discovers that stranger is one of the partners, Britney realizes that boundaries are a lot harder to maintain when chemistry, ambition, and feelings get involved.
Carter Rhodes has built his career on charm, control, and doing whatever it takes to come out on top. Yet from the moment Britney walks into his office as the firm’s newest associate, the carefully maintained distance between his professional and personal life disappears. What was supposed to be one unforgettable night becomes an impossible distraction, and the more time he spends with Britney, the harder it is to pretend this is something he can walk away from.
As their pasts collide with their presents, Carter and Britney must navigate a workplace where reputation, power, and desire are constantly at odds. With careers on the line and feelings they can’t ignore, they have to decide whether to play it safe or trust that what they’ve found in each other is worth the fallout.
Becca Fall writes romance novels where humor meets heart—and sparks always fly. A hopeless romantic at heart, she believes every story deserves a swoon-worthy ending. When she’s not writing, you’ll find her bingeing rom-coms, exploring local coffee shops, or plotting her next book boyfriend.
I am so glad we finally got Britney’s story 😁 When it comes to the best friends, Britney is my favorite and I absolutely loved her sense of humor in the previous books. Britney is extremely intelligent and she would never do anything to purposefully jeopardize her career. Carter is also extremely intelligent, considering he is a partner at the law firm that Britney works at. Despite his strong work ethic, Britney showed him that there is so much more to life than work. The attraction between the two of them was immediate, but the way they played it off like there was nothing between them was pretty entertaining.
Overall, while the story wasn’t very deep emotionally, I did like seeing Carter and Britney’s relationship grow and I loved seeing the couples from the previous books come together. I just wish it wasn’t the end. I do hope there is a follow up for Alyssa because after what she went through she deserves someone who treats her like a queen.
Thank you Becca for having me on your ARC team for all four books. Can’t wait to see what comes next!
Highly recommend One Case Down to readers who like workplace romances with open door spice, forced proximity, and found family.
Emotional growth , workplace romance , one night stand , forced proximity and the banter!
I absolutely loved how Carter and Britney met at the beginning. It was genius. I won’t spoil it for you ! Becca landed a job at a law firm straight out of law school and runs into Carter after a brief first introduction at a previous time in her life. Britney is a skilled lawyer and a people person . She connects with others easily . I loved reading her involvement with clients at the law firm. Carter is a protective MMC and career focused. He is a partner at the firm. He doesn’t take time off and is doesn’t have a lot of time for play in his life. Carter and Britney’s energy and banter is comedic, spicy and romantic. I love a book with banter ! This book is a fast, fun read . I highly recommend !
I had mixed feelings about Britney, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying the story. The author did a wonderful job of shining a light on workplace struggles for women and handled the more emotional topics with care. A touching and entertaining read overall.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Office romance, age gap, one night stand turned revelation of romantic hopes and fears with a dash of witty banter between two hot, intelligent and educated people? Have I peaked your interest yet? I thought so.
Britney and Carter’s story is the final of the four main women in The Burrow Series and though you could read them as stand alones, I highly recommend you read all of them. Everyone’s paths cross here and there, but you never feel as though you’re re-reading a prior book’s blurbs to make sense of the story in front of you.
Let’s talk Britney and Carter… Firrrrst of all, I love them. Okay, but seriously, the chemistry between these two is undeniably delicious, never failing to make my stomach attempt high-stakes gymnastics when they finally have a moment alone together. The stolen glances across the bullpen can be felt in Fall’s description, almost as though you’re peering around the cubicle, watching it unfold in front of your very eyes. Their romance is one that reminds us all that anything we truly want is worth fighting for and risking it all isn’t so scary when you realize that without it, the excitement for tomorrow slips through your fingertips - and we can’t have that.
Britney’s voice speaks to the ones who have watched love never result in a happy ending and molded themselves to avoid any possibility of falling victim to the “inevitable” - especially when so much of their future success is in the making. Carter’s, on the other hand, speak just as meticulously to the guarded idea of heartache, yet has succeeded in all aspects and checked all the boxes of what’s expected to curate contentment - only to find none of it matters without someone by your side.

This is the fourth and final book in "The Burrows Series" and it was a great finish to this heart-warming and down-to-earth series about four girlfriends, who each go on their own journey of discovery and come out on the other side having gone through meaningful personal and emotional growth and found their own form of happiness.
Britney's story was unexpected in a good way. The brief glimpses we got of her in the previous three books definitely did not even hint at the depth and complexity of her character, the experiences of her past that led to her becoming a spunky, fun-loving yet commitment-shy young lady, who worked tirelessly to achieve her goal of becoming a lawyer while constantly proving herself. Enter Carter, a really nice, slightly older guy with a good heart and soul, who is considerate, attentive and has been hurt before, also making him commitment-shy.
The meet-cute between Britney and Carter was unexpectedly wonderful and set into motion something inevitable that drastically changed their life paths.
I loved how Carter made Britney believe that she too could have something she had always denied herself out of fear of failure and being vulnerable. And Britney gave Carter hope. These two were so good for each other, offering support, strength, a quiet place to unload and calm down. And the physical intimacy between these two was so passionate. They really built each other up and were ready to sacrifice so much for one another.
What could have been a disaster ended up being a blessing in disguise and made for a wonderful ending. The epilogue with a brief recap of how the lives of the other Burrows ladies had progressed was absolutely the cherry on top.
First and foremost, a huge thank you to Becca Fall for an ARC. With such an honor it feels only right to give an honest review.
The final installment to the interwoven standalone set: The Burrow Series. This book follows Britney and Carter as they navigate an attraction that complicates both of their lives in ways they never expected.
Britney, a recent law school graduate who gets the job of her dreams with a well known, high profile firm. Dedicated to putting her best foot forward in every case, wanting to leave an impression that spoke to her skills as an attorney.
Carter, an established lawyer, but not just any lawyer, a partner with his firm. The “golden partner”, at least in the courtroom. Personally, it couldn’t be further from the truth, at least... according to his past.
When fate brings them together, can professional boundaries and their careers really keep them apart?
From subtle glances and longing stares, to heat between Britney and Carter, their chemistry is undeniable both on and off the case, if only it were that simple.

I absolutely have loved The Burrowed Series so far, the fact that they are standalone books interwoven in the same universe makes it so easy to pick up any of the four books and start there!
I loved the complexity of the power balance and what that looked like in the office, and how they chose to navigate it. I do wish more of the complexities had been explored and flushed out.
The side quest of Landon and Kira was adorable as well! I was glad I read that book before this one!
Overall I really enjoyed this book and will definitely be recommending this series to others!
Sometimes you just need a story that hits all the right notes of wit, spice, and real growth.
The story follows Britney, a sharp junior associate, and Carter, the older partner at her firm, who start things off with a wild night they didn't anticipate. Watching their chemistry bloom against the backdrop of their professional lives created the perfect amount of tension, and I loved the balance of their snappy, intelligent banter with the genuine spark they shared whenever they were in the same room.
What truly elevated the story for me was how they helped each other overcome their shared fears of vulnerability. Both Britney and Carter are guarded due to past heartaches, so witnessing them let their walls down to prioritize their happiness was deeply satisfying. The narrative handled their power dynamic and personal growth with a thoughtful touch, making their eventual decision to risk everything for each other feel both earned and incredibly romantic.
The epilogue was the icing on the cake, providing a heartwarming look at where all the characters in this world landed. It was such a beautiful way to conclude the series, and it has absolutely inspired me to go back and read the first three books as well. It is a solid, heartwarming read that hits all the right notes of spice and substance, making it a perfect recommendation for anyone who loves a good, heartfelt office romance.
This was exactly the kind of grounded, romantic story I needed.

Huge thank you to the lovely author, Becca Fall, for the ARC! 😍 All my bookish thoughts are completely my own. ✨
I was kindly gifted this ARC by author Becca Fall in exchange for an honest review before its release date on July 14th, thank you so much!!❤️
This story was so sweet and refreshing, yet had me intrigued and turning pages all night long! I knew I was going to be hooked in after the first few chapters. What started as a one night stand quickly turned into a forbidden love affair between two lawyers, and it was so much more than just an affair. There was emotional depth, there was yearning, there were sweet stolen moments of them genuinely wanting to get to know each other outside of their initial attraction but struggling because of their circumstances. And girlies dont even get me started on the forbidden aspect because they worked together?! CHEFS KISS!!! Britney was sucha badass, I love how confident she was and I loved how she took her career so seriously. I enjoyed how we got to see Carter kind of unravel from being so centered on work and the way he was questioning his morals, stepping outside of his comfort zone and truly wondering what boundaries he was willing to cross in his own career and personal life. These two helped each other see the things around them in a new way, they offered eachother solace from the issues they were facing in their own lives and they gave each other purpose beyond what they believed before they met. This story had it all and I am for sure going to be reading more by Becca Fall in the future. If you are looking for a workplace romance, character/emotional growth, a little bit of sneaking around and yearning then this is the one 💅🏻
One Case Down by Becca Fall is a fun, witty, and spicy workplace romance that had me smiling from beginning to end.
The story follows Britney, a new junior associate, and Carter, a partner at the law firm where they both work. Their forced-proximity office romance is packed with chemistry, banter, and just the right amount of tension, making it impossible not to root for them.
What I loved most was how wholehearted this book feels. While it's full of swoon-worthy moments and plenty of spice, it also explores the very real challenges of workplace relationships, especially when the woman is in a more junior position. The concerns about how their relationship could be perceived if it became public add depth and realism to the story without taking away from the romance.
One of my favourite parts was watching Carter's emotional journey. Seeing his perspective shift as he begins to understand what truly makes him happy was incredibly satisfying and made his character even more lovable.
Overall, One Case Down is a sweet, heartfelt romance with fantastic chemistry, laugh-out-loud moments, and a generous helping of spice. It's the perfect feel-good read, and I loved every minute of it. I'm so grateful to have had the opportunity to be an ARC reader for this wonderful book!
“I'd seen too many smart women lose their ambition in the name of love, and I refused to be one of them.” - Britney
I always love forbidden love mixed with forced proximity at the workplace. Throw in an age gap and a one night stand, and you have the makings of a fabulous story.
Britney and Carter are impossible not to love. Their chemistry and the banter pulled me into their story, and I was falling in love with them as soon as they stepped out of the bar.
There is more to Carter than his charm and determination to succeed at all costs. He has been living on autopilot for years until Britney keeps interrupting his carefully laid plans.
Britney protects her heart and avoids relationships. She has worked too hard to lose her momentum now. Will she walk away from Carter to keep her career on track?
One Case Down is full of banter, humor, love, and finding purpose. I loved One Case Down and would recommend it to all readers who love a messy workplace relationship. Britney and Carter have a great story to share.
I received an ARC of One Case Down. All opinions are my own.
Chemistry with Intelligent Banter and Forbidden Heat in a Corporate Legal Setting - So Fun!
I enjoyed this wrap up of the Burrow Series - sorry to see it end but loved seeing all of the happy couples in the epilogue and was happy to see Britney finally finish law school and get the job of her dreams. Of course she "re-meets" her one night stand who is a partner (and boss), the attraction is still there but they have to keep everything under wraps. I enjoyed how well they worked together and that their intelligence and work styles "matched" as did their wit and banter, but also that they balanced each other, and both grew as characters throughout their relationship. The book was well-written, flowed smoothly, covered serious and heavy legal topics but in an interesting and easy to read manner, and the dialog and heat was hot. I am sorry to see the series end but look forward to reading more from this author - Enjoy!
I was sent an ARC by the author and I am voluntarily leaving my honest review.
4.25/5...My favorite book of the series! The chemistry between Britney and Carter was there from the very beginning, and I really enjoyed watching their relationship develop despite all the obstacles standing in their way. The workplace romance and forbidden aspect added just the right amount of tension without taking away from the emotional connection between them. Both characters were easy to root for, and I loved seeing them balance their personal feelings with the realities of their careers. Their banter, growth, and vulnerability made this one especially engaging, and it kept me turning the pages to see how everything would work out. One of my favorite parts was the epilogue. It didn't just wrap up Britney and Carter's story—it also gave closure to characters from the previous books, which made the ending feel especially satisfying for anyone who has followed the entire series. It was the perfect way to say goodbye to these characters. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
The chemistry is unmatched (actually, I feel the author does GREAT at writing chemistry between her MCs). This book is possibly the best layered chemistry of the 4 in this series.
The Bad:
The word “tenseness” used instead of “tension.”
The book lags at about 78% and the pacing goes haywire slightly.
I saw the 3rd act break up from the start. It could have been a conversation with HR instead of what it was. It feels like the conflict was lazy writing conflict for conflicts sake. The conflict could have been the arc development of feelings, with a harder lean on Britney's commitment issues instead of what it was.
Wait…that was the ending!? Of the series!? You have got be kidding me…
This book started off 5⭐️ and slowly chipped away, leaving it at 2.5⭐️

I am thankful I received this ARC for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
This one gave me that delicious slow burn tension that I crave in a good workplace romance.
Britney (25) is junior associate still finding her footing at a new firm after just graduating law school. Carter is a partner at the firm who’s basically forgotten what life looks like outside the office. Their one night stand doesn’t just complicate things; it drags every buried feeling straight to the surface.
Carter (34) was the heart of the book for me. Intentional, steady, a little worn down by the grind but trying so hard to show up. I loved the way he softened around Britney and how being with her reminded him he’s allowed to want more than work.
Britney was tougher for me to connect with. Her hot and cold, the commitment issues, the spiraling over Carter working with his ex, for me it made her feel distant at times. But the book leans into that messiness as part of her story, and you can see her trying to grow even when she stumbles.
What really worked for me was their chemistry and the way they bring out the best in each other. Carter finds joy again; Britney finds stability. They value one another in ways that feel meant to be, not forced.
A huge thank you to Becca Fall for the early copy!
One Case Down is book 4 in the Burrow Series. This can definitely be read as a standalone as this is my first book of the series. However, if you have read the other 3 books I think you will really like this one to see the conclusion to the other 3 couples. I really enjoyed the story between Britney and Carter, especially the surprise workplace romance and forced proximity. There was a lot of growth between the characters over the story, as well as a great slow burn. The other thing I really enjoyed about this story was the messaging in it - about women in the workplace and about how difficult it can be for victims of domestic violence to take further action through the courts. This was woven really well into the story. This book will be enjoyed by anyone that loves workplace romance, forced proximity and a slow burn after an initial steamy encounter. Thanks to BookSirens for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.
This book gave me the absolute ultimate 90s rom-com vibes. Did I know exactly how it was going to end by page 10? Yes. Did I smile through every single predictable beat anyway? Also yes.
The story is completely uncomplicated in the best way possible. It’s basically the book version of a comfort movie you’ve seen a hundred times. The chemistry between the leads is SO good, too.
The book definitely leans hard into classic tropes, so don't go into it expecting groundbreaking twists. In the same way, the third-act conflict felt a little forced, but thankfully it wrapped up quickly enough that it didn't ruin the fun.
If you’re looking for a low-stakes, high-reward read that just makes you feel good, this is definitely it. It's the perfect palate cleanser. Now, I’m off to read the other 3 books in the series!
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
One Case Down by Becca Fall was such a pleasant surprise!
This is book four in The Burrow Series and my first one, so obviously it works perfectly as a standalone.
What I really loved is how the story comes full circle, something you don't see often enough anymore. It's steamy but never rushed, and it gives you a full picture of not just the main characters but the whole cast. I love when a book actually lets you know how everyone ends up.
At its heart, this is a lighthearted, feel-good romance with genuinely sweet scenes and just enough substance to give the story real weight. The attraction between the leads is the kind that pulls you in, irresistible in the best way.
I came in as a newcomer to the series and left as a fan. The previous books are already on my list.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
One of my favorite ARC reads. Thank you so much for trusting me with this!
I absolutely flew through this ARC of One Case Down. I read it in one sitting! If you're looking for a short, light, and fun romance with plenty of steam, this is the perfect palate cleanser between heavier reads.
While the story touches on some sensitive subjects, Becca Fall handled them with so much care. She didn't water down the difficult moments, but instead allowed the characters the space to process, heal, and grow in a way that felt authentic and meaningful. It added emotional depth without taking away from the fun of the romance.
I loved the character development, the chemistry, and the spice. Overall, this was an enjoyable, heartfelt read that left me smiling. Thank you for the ARC!

Britney and Carter's story might be my favorite of the 4 in the series 🩷
I loved their character growth, the sensitive topics raised were handled with care by the author and never took away from the fun read 💕
Becca's characters all have great chemistry and banter and this one was no different 🩷
And I loved the epilogue and how we got to see all the other books characters 3 years in the future.. a perfect way to wrap up the series, although I'm sad its come to an end 💕
My favorite Carter quote... "You complicate my life in all the wrong ways, and somehow it still feels easier when you're around."
I highly recommend you read this entire series 🩷
Thank you Becca for another great ARC opportunity and letting me be part of your incredible journey 💕
I really loved this. Britney and Carter just felt natural and I appreciate how relationships both past and present, and trauma were handled in this. I love that this didn’t follow what I’m used to reading in tales of coworkers where the power balance is very different. Was handled very well, especially with the lesson of what women have to deal with everyday.
Carter is a gem and I was momentarily worried I’d hate him but I like that he was shown to actually have a true respect for justice and not just there for the win.
Britney was fun. Just going about her life and finding a good one along the way but also having to deal with workplace bs.
This book is more than a romance novel. Yes, it has all the good stuff you'd expect from a good romance like steamy sex, best friends, misunderstandings, overwhelming chemistry, lots of oxytocin -- but it also is a story about change, coming to terms with what's important in life and accepting yourself. It's about two people who fall in love after a one-night-stand, not expecting to, but finding love anyway and that love changes them. It's also about family, and how important family is to our happiness. I thoroughly enjoyed this book. It goes beyond the genre and delivers in depth character studies that are interesting and transformative. Even the minor characters grow. I think the author did a very good job writing a not-so-typical romance novel and she should be proud of this book.
This was such a perfect way to wrap up The Burrow series! 🥹 Britney and Carter are so perfect together and meld seamlessly into the little family they built with their friends. 💛 I have loved getting to know each of the characters and seeing their relationships and friendships play out over the course of this series! I'm so grateful to Becca for allowing me to be an ARC reader for her for books 2-4 and I had so much fun with each story! The epilogue of this one definitely had me in my feels and not ready for it to end, but so so happy with how everything ended up! Can't wait to see what Becca has next! 🥰😁
If you love a good interconnected, found family series, definitely check out The Burrow series! You will not regret it! 🩵💜💚❤️
I was luckily chosen as an ARC member for this and I’m so beyond grateful. This was such a great read from start to finish! We pick back up with Britney’s story, a fierce FMC who has just secured her dream position as a junior law associate at the most prestigious law firm. After a steamy one-night stand, she walks into her first day only to discover that her mystery man is Carter, a successful, well-respected partner at the very same firm.
With every turn of the page, the tension is impossible to ignore as their forbidden romance begins to bubble to the surface. The chemistry, banter, and emotional stakes kept me completely invested from beginning to end.
This book is sure to become a must-read. I will forever be a lover of the Burrow series!

The girl is flustered at her graduation party. Goes to a dive bar, 2 seats away a handsome guy, she hooks up with him. Few days later she starts a new job at a law firm, he is her co-worker, attracted but against the rules, first 2-3 weeks that get together doing things together, they end up having sex again, the guy who she went to law school with him..enemies..tried to get her kicked out. He sees the couple and starts a rumor they are sleeping together, even though the day he saw them, no sex and had not for a while. What will happen to them and will they get the man set out to destroy her to stop?
This books was so so good. Britney is the hard working level headed friend highly focused on her career and success. She gratuated law school and started at a new firm that has a partner who she is familiar with. That is where we meet the Lovely Carter. Carter is also a no nonsense all work type of guy. This story was great because not only was it a funny cute romance. There were many moments where circumstances of the characters allowed space for growth and healing beyond pushing a storyline. This was amazing. The spice was cute, romance was fun, comedy was definitely there. I loved it so much! Becca never misses the Burrow Series has been such an amazing journey!!!
This was the perfect ending to this series. I loved getting Britney's story and seeing the layers behind the confident, fun loving woman we'd met in the previous books. Her journey of learning to trust and open her heart was both emotional and relatable.
Carter was the perfect match for her. Their relationship was built on patience, support, and healing, making their connection feel genuine. The chemistry was great, but it was their emotional growth together that really stood out.
The epilogue was the perfect finishing touch, giving one last look at the lives of the Burrows women.
I am so glad Becca saved Britney for last. She was a perfect way to end this series. Britney’s growth through out this book was such a wonderful showcase. She went from closed off to relationships to finding the man who compliments her in every way. I love seeing the way Carter respects and loves Britney for her mind and drive. He shows how a man is supposed to treat a woman in a male dominated world. Love that he put Britney’s old college nemesis in his place. Thank you Becca for allowing us into this world. I have fallen in love with each character throughout this series. What a perfect way to end the series.
In book 4 of the Burrow Series we get Carter and Britney’s story. As two attorneys figuring out love and career, their story shows us the struggles women face in the workplace and not sacrificing their happiness for their career.
Being married to an attorney I could relate to some of the struggles the couple faced - long hours and workplace pressure to name two.
Overall I enjoyed this book and getting another story in this series. Many thanks to the author Becca Falls for the ARC to read and review.
This book was AMAZING!! I loved the setting and how everything went down. I loved Britney’s engery and how she brought Carters out of his “work” life. She truly was someone he could go to and would support him.
There love story was funny as well, loved it was a one night stand turning into them working together. Oh and Julian, he can go suck it lol. I’m glad Carter stood up for Britney and made sure Julian wouldn’t get the chance to ruin them. A good man right there lol.
Overall loved this book, I could go on and on but I won’t spoil it. Definitely recommend this book!!
I absolutely adored doing the beta reading for this one. It's a gorgeous love story, and both main characters are incredibly fleshed out. It was a total pleasure reading about them as individuals, and it made their blossoming romance even better because the chemistry between them was well established from the beginning.
I need to read 2 more books in this series and honestly, I'm really looking forward to doing so because Fall is very talented at writing sweet love stories with substance! Adore her 🫶🏻
