Thank you so much to Netgalley and Victory editing for the early copy of this book.

This was a cute, short and quick little cowboy romance.

I loved the premise even though it was crazy sad from the beginning. I loved the side characters and the small town vibes, I just didn’t like the FMC and her actions. She infuriated me a bit. I hated what she did and think Willard deserved better. It all ended up working out in the end and I did like will a lot so it’s ok. As a whole, the book was a cute little spicy romance.

Spoilers!!!

I didn’t like that she only came back after her grandma passed. What was that all about? She left cause her brother died but she comes back after her grands is gone and only so she can get the bed and breakfast and house? If you look at the bigger picture, It’s messed up.

wow wow wow this was literally just the right small town cowboy romance I needed omg

When the Authors note mentioned keeping a box of tissues nearby, i didnt listen but I should’ve because oh boy, I was bawling like a baby, especially in the first few chapters of Hazel being back. Hazel was giving such The View Between Villages (extended version specifically) by Noah Kahn, especially at the beginning and god i just love her so much. She’s my girl till the day i die. Not to mention that gorgeous cowboy AUGHHHH NEED HIM or one of his brothers tbh…

Then the end epilogue scene. It killed me, let’s just say I bawled my eyes out to say the very least.

also can we all take a moment for this gorgeous cover, it genuinely looks so beautiful and I knew from the minute I saw it that I needed to read it and safe to say it did not disappoint and I CANT WAITTT for the next one 🤭🤭

Everyone give Somewhere Only We Know a read when it’s out on July 22nd!!

TW: death, bull riding accident, cancer, grief, panic attacks/ disorders, alcohol, sexual content, mentions of: addiction, drug use, incarceration, animal branding, animal birth
How he says home makes it seem like he’s not talking about Kindred Meadows, like maybe I feel like home to him. The way he feels like home to me.

This book was achingly sweet, the romance was fast paced but there was enough information about the characters’ past sprinkled in throughout the book to make it feel like you as a reader where seeing the entire story, and it was done in a way that wasn’t in your face or boring, the flow and pacing of the story was very well done making this book incredibly easy to read. I also deeply appreciated that the open door romance was hot while still being a part of the characters’ healing and connection with each other - it wasn’t overdone or in your face, and it didn’t overtake the parts of the story where it was used as a significant turning point in the character’s relationship.
There are so many things I want to ask her — to talk about — but I’m worried she’ll say something that breaks my heart or I’ll scare her away.

Moving on to tropes I’m not usually a fan of: second-chance-romance, and childhood-friends-to-lovers. Consider me converted, overjoyed, I fully stand behind whatever author did here to set fire to the dark cloud over my heart. There were many heavy issues covered in this book including trauma, grief and abandonment, all these and more were expressed in a way that were visceral and made it so easy to relate to these characters.
”You damn well better know that I want you. I’ve never stopped wanting you. There is nobody else in this world for me.”

I giggled at the out of this world flirting these characters unleashed, I kicked my feet at the teasing, I said “awe” out loud an ungodly amount of times, but I also cried like a baby. I may never be the same again, no one makes me cry like Caitlin Klassen.

I received this book as an ARC from the author, all thoughts and opinions are my own

This book was everything I hoped it would be… and somehow even more.

The prologue absolutely shattered me. Before I even had a chance to settle into the story, I was already an emotional wreck. From that point on, I knew I was in for a ride, and this book never let go.

What stood out to me most was how real everything felt. The characters, the grief, the friendships, the loveit all felt authentic. Nothing was overly dramatic or forced. Instead, it was raw, heartfelt, and beautifully human. I could genuinely picture every scene playing out like a movie. Someone seriously needs to put this on the big screen.

The writing was incredible. The pacing was perfect, giving every emotional moment the space it deserved without ever feeling slow. The descriptions were immersive without being overwhelming, and I was completely invested from beginning to end.

I absolutely loved the dual POVs, the effortless banter, and the slow-building tension between the characters. Watching old friendships rekindle and seeing what it truly means to come home to people who love you unconditionally made this story so much more than just a romance.

And can we talk about Rory? What an incredible friend. Every character brought something special to the story, making the entire cast feel like people I’d known for years.

The epilogue was the perfect ending to an unforgettable journey, and by the time I finished, I just sat there smiling through my tears.

If you love emotional romances that feel genuine, unforgettable characters, small-town charm, and cowboy romance done right, this book deserves a spot at the top of your TBR.

Without question… my favourite cowboy romance I’ve read.

"When did you go and become an asshole?" "Around the time you ripped my heart out, I guess."

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

This book starts with a note from Caitlin stating "you might want a warm blanket and tissues on standby, especially for the prologue".

Yeah, so I'm dumb. I read this in its entirety on a plane.

Do I regret it one bit?
Absolutely not.

If there is one author that was MADE for a book reviewer called Swoonandscroll; Caitlin Klassen is that author.
Her books have me swooning constantly, and I can NEVER put them down.
And you're telling me that I get a COWBOY ROMANCE from her!?
Sign me up a million times over and over again.

This was so beautiful.
The grief and the absolute devastation that follows ruined me immediately.
I was a wreck on the plane, and I make no apologies to anyone who may have thought I was an insane person.

I love Will.
A cowboy through and through.
His mouth made me swoon every which way.
His determination, strength, and unconditional love for Hazel throughout the book was admirable; despite going through several layers of grief himself.

"The day I lost my best friend was also the day I lost the girl I loved. And I still can't quite tell which broke me more."

Hazel is emotionless.
Or is she?
She's a nuanced character who is dealing with so much loss and trauma she doesn't know how to handle it any other way that doesn't involve running.
She just needs to remember where her home is to find her way back.

"Growing up, he knew how to put me back together when I was sad. I didn't know he also knew how to tear me apart"

The other characters were an absolute hoot, and even they had my heart doing little flutters.
I can't wait to see more of the Lewis brothers, and the array of characters in Kindred Meadows.
(I love Bes so much I want to hug her!)

Thank you, Caitlin Klassen, for the opportunity to read this eARC!

P.S. My husband yelled at me for not including his favourite quote; so here, in all its glory:
"See you later, darlin'. Don't fart on my pillow"

I don't think I've read something that felt this much like healing in a very long time.
There was no villain in this story. No one was right, no one was wrong — there were just people trying to live with the hand they'd been dealt, and the quiet, steady way they showed up for each other while doing it. This book solidified exactly why I love smart, character-driven romance. I have zero complaints. Not one.

One scene I will never forget is watching everyone were there for Will and Hazel when they finally decided to go back to the rodeo. And that's the thing about this book — it was never just Will and Hazel's story. Every character in it mattered. Rory didn't get much page time, but I loved her completely, and I know this is a book I'll hold close for a long time.

Will might be one of the most patient, understanding men I've ever read. Hazel lost something, and so did he — but when she chose to run because she needed that for herself, he didn't hold it against her. He simply took care of everything she left behind, without conditions, and let her come back on her own time. The way her grandmother knew that Hazel was going to come home someday.

The last time we spoke, she said the sunflowers are always here and that she'd be in every sunset.

I was crying while I read this. I'm crying while writing this review. I know I'll cry again just telling someone about it. I loved how they carried Denny with them throughout. I loved how Will's family became a second family to Hazel. I loved how Rory was the best friend Hazel needed, even in the moments Hazel couldn't be there for her, and how Rory understood that without resentment.
This story is healing, plain and simple. If you're looking for something that will genuinely move you, read this book. You're going to fall in love with every part of it.

Somewhere Only We Know by Caitlin Klassen has a very small town western/country vibe to it. It is romantic, funny, sad, and it has a few really spicy moments. There are some fun moments shared between best friends also. It is a feel good story with quite a few predictable moments and although the book is good, some parts felt like they were dragged out.

Hazel Fields and Willard Lewis, Hazel's brother's best friend, had feelings for each other since they were kids, but were never a couple.

Hazel had a family of runners. Her father left when she was born and her drug addict mother eventually left when she was still a kid. Her brother ran from his emotions by bull riding. Now, shortly after her high school graduation, she's running away from her hometown, her family, her friends, and the man she's always loved even though she had promised her grandmother she would help run The Bumble Bee Bed and Breakfast when she got older.

A few year later, Hazel returns home after getting some bad news. She has to face the people she abandoned while trying to cope with her own emotions.

What happened to make her run? Where did she go? Who helped take care of the Bed and Breakfast while she was gone? Why did she come back? Does she still love Will? Does he still love her? Did he ever look for her?

Tropes:
🤠 Brother’s best friend
🤠 Cowboy romance
🤠 One bed

The prologue had me hooked from the very first page! I loved that we get to see both the past and the present, allowing us to fully understand what happened, the emotions involved, and how it shaped the characters.

The friendship between Rory and Hazel was one of my favourite parts of the book. I loved seeing them reconnect and find their way back to the friendship they had before. Their bond felt so genuine, and it was lovely to witness.

This book took me on an emotional rollercoaster - I felt so many emotions within just a few chapters. I absolutely loved the flirty banter between Will and Hazel. Watching Hazel slowly find her spark again after everything she has been through was so heartwarming, and their chemistry was such a joy to read.

Somewhere Only We Know

Oh boy, this book had me in tears at the start. Ugly tears but don't fret, the sadness passes and you find yourself falling for the sweetest, most loveable book boyfriend.

Hazel and Willard find love early, but a tragedy tears them apart and Hazel runs. However, five years later she returns to her hometown after another tragedy but this time she has sealed not only her heart but all of her emotions behind high walls. She vows to protect herself but being home is chipping away at those walls. Meanwhile, Willard has never stopped loving Hazel and he is determined to show her that they can have their love story again.

Caitlin has again given us characters with complex emotions who are not perfect. In fact, at times you just want to shake Hazel. Even knowing what she is going through doesn't ease the frustration. Willard captures your heart with his genuine and open emotions. He is calm (most of the time) and compassionate, giving Hazel what she needs, even when she doesn't know.

I look forward to reading more of this world and can highly recommend this book to everyone. 4.5 stars for this one.

Somewhere Only We Know is a emotional, second chance story full of forgiveness, tenderness and acceptance. Rating is 3.5 stars.

Hazel and Will have always been in love, and before they can fully act on it, a tragic incident occurs that tears them apart. Hazel skips town and spends years trying to escape it. She returns eventually, finding the place and people almost exactly how she left it.

Grief works in odd ways, and Hazel and Will took different ways. He stayed and cared for the others, and Hazel left to numb herself of the pain and even find some answers. But there are lessons to be learnt from it. You can never truly run away. And it is so important to live in the present and to hold of the ones you love.

It was great story, admittedly I found it a little difficult to read due to the choices Hazel made. I understand why she made it but I couldn't help feeling a little frustrated for Will. I definitely recommend this book though, the ending made it all worth it and I was genuinely happy for everyone!

I received this book as an Advanced Readers Copy in exchange for an honest review.

I have been in the mood for a small town cowboy romance, and this book was everything I needed. It was a very cute and easy read, and checked all my boxes. It literally had me tearing up at only 4%.

In hindsight, I do wish that the character death (not a spoiler, it’s in the TW) had a little more depth. The scene was very cut and dry, 1-2-3, and I feel like it could have been even more impactful if it had been drawn out even just a little bit more.

The romance was very sweet, if a little telling > showing, but it still had me giggling and kicking my feet and that’s all that matters🤪
The age gap was a little concerning for me. Yes, it’s only three years, but when Miss Ma’am is fifteen and he’s thinking about “getting his hands on her”, it gets a little weird… Beyond that, I really loved Will and Hazel and everything that he did for her behind the scenes. Also the tattoo🥺 Lowkey might be one of my favourite secret tattoos ever.

Overall a very fun small town romance. 10/10 would read again.

“𝙃𝙚 𝙨𝙢𝙚𝙡𝙡𝙨 𝙡𝙞𝙠𝙚 𝙖 𝙘𝙤𝙬𝙗𝙤𝙮. 𝙈𝙮 𝙘𝙤𝙬𝙗𝙤𝙮.”

Hazel fell in love… with her brother’s best friend.
Two things happened when Hazel was 18, Will admitted his feelings for her, and her life was turned upside down in one of the worst ways.

Hazel ran, and didn’t look back. 5 years later grief brings her back to her hometown. Back to having to see Will, the love of her life.

This book hits you with a huge gut punch right off the bat in the prologue 😩.
Hazel dealt with her grief the only way she knew how. She ran, and it was heartbreaking.
I think this might be my favorite Caitlin Klassen book! I felt Hazels pain. I absolutely adored Will, another amazing green flag MMC. Caitlin sure knows how to write those green flag men! I loved their relationship, their connection and their banter. The found family in this book 🥹. I did not want to put this book down at all. One of my favorite micro tropes was also in there.🥰.
I was rooting for them the whole time, crying and giggling throughout this whole book.

Hazel at 18,Willard said he loved her, and right after that her brother died. She couldn't handle it and she ran away and stayed away for five years. She was running again and ended up back to her grandmothers house. She didn't know her grandmother had passed away, and she was falling apart. Her best friend who she also ran away from and hadn't called or anything, is the one who told her. She also discovered that the boy she loved was still there and still single. She wasn't expecting any of this, but then she had to find out about the will her grandmother left, and that was a total shock.
The story unfolds as they all try to move forward, but there is a lot of hurt to get through. There is progress and setbacks, and it became pulling off a band-aid one at a time, until they decided to pull them all off at once and see what happened. You will read about all that happens, how things turn out, and the journey from taking one band-aid off at a time to taking them all off, is what it takes to start to heal.

ARC: I love a cute small town romance and especially if it’s a cowboy romance it just gives me cozy vibes. Will and Hazel’s story was such a beautiful but heartbreaking story. I fell in love with will since the very first page he was so patient and loving he was the perfect man. Then there’s hazel she went through so much that nobody should go through but not without some hiccups she got through it. It was such a beautiful book about grief and learning how to live with it and to count on the people around you it had me crying by the end. I also loved the banter and the way they flirted they had me kicking my feet lol. 🐴Cowboy romance. 🛏️ One bed. 💋 Darlin 🔥 Spicy. ⭐️5/5. Release Date July 22

Arc review

Holy Moly I hope you have tissues on hand. The amount of tears that fell while I read this book is actually insane. I haven’t cried like this at a book in a while. Like I cried at the prologue?!?

Let’s start with Hazel. At first, I didn’t like her very much. Honestly I was pissed at her actually and truly believed that everyone around her deserved way better. As the story went on, I started to understand her and came to love her. The way she handled things in the beginning still sucked but she showed true growth throughout the book. Without spoiling it, the apologies make up for the actions.

Willard. Oh my sweet baby cowboy. How I LOVE Willard. He is such a gentleman. He cares so much, his humour, his “Darlin’s” ugh. He has my whole heart. One of my favourite book boyfriends to date honestly.

The “it’s always been you” and “nobody compares” vibes… UGH YES PLEASE. That kind of dedication to one another is so dreamy.

Additional tropes I adored: one bed, found family, secret tattoo, forced proximity, homecoming and dual POV

5 star read easily!!

This book hooked me early and very quickly, as it kind of felt like getting onto a runaway train. There was no slow exposition or buildup, we get right into the thick of things, which I actually appreciated! While some additional insight into Hazel was prior to the tragedy that sent her running away might have helped me to understand her abandonment of town and family immediately afterward, I liked the parallel of not knowing who she really is alongside Will and Rory also not knowing who New Hazel is when she reappears.

Without a ton of external conflict going on, the focus here was very much on Hazel’s return home, her healing journey, and her rebuilding her relationships with Will and the rest of her circle. I liked the ability to just breathe and read through this journey without wondering when the other shoe would drop, so to speak.

This review will be cross-posted to Goodreads and Storygraph.

ARC RECEIVED FROM AUTHOR: 4.25⭐️
This was my first time reading a cowboy romance, and it did not disappoint!! It was equal parts heartwarming, emotional, and impossible to put down. From the very first chapter, I was invested in Hazel and Willard and their story.

The chemistry between the Hazel and Willard was effortless, and I appreciated that their relationship developed naturally instead of feeling rushed. The Bed & Breakfast setting added so much charm, and the strong sense of family and community made the story feel incredibly cozy. There were plenty of sweet moments balanced with just enough angst and spice to keep me turning the pages.

If I had one small criticism, I would have liked to see Hazel’s healing journey explored in greater depth, particularly as she processed the grief of losing both her brother and her grandmother.

Thank you to the author for providing me with an advance reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

This was the sweetest most beautiful cowboys ready to date.
Hazel over come by the grief of losing her brother, she runs, doesn’t look back, leaves the family and best friend and specially the love of her life Willard”Will”. And her Family owned B&B. After 5yrs, another loss in her family makes her come
Back. To find Will has been running the B&B made it successful and waiting for her to regain ownership.

Forcing her to face all the pain grief and heartbreak of the ones she lost, and the ones she left behind. Slowly fixing and mending those relationships with everyone while finding her way again in her beloved town.

The chemistry and love between hazel and Will is incredible, almost magical. It’s palpable. So beautifully written it’s like you’re in this story with them feeling all their pain, their grief, the heartache, but also their wins, their mends, and love.

Such an amazing story.

More like a 4.5 ⭐️
Absolutely loved this book!
It was very well written and Caitlin sure knows how to bring in that yearning and slow build!
🌻 second chance romance
🌻 yearning/tension
🌻 forced proximity
🌻 cowboy/small town romance

I appreciated the slow build of this couple coming together, the story is about them finding their way back to one another after trauma and years of not having the other person by their side! This was a book that I was able to just sit down and enjoy - there wasn’t any drama between the characters and the author was still able to create a beautiful and fun story for readers to enjoy!

The only thing that brought it down, just a hair was I wished to have had a bit more into the dynamic of Hazel and her brother before to better explain why she ran. I loved the return dynamic between Hazel/Will and Hazel/Rory but at the same time we see how much everyone lost in those 5 years and I couldn’t connect to the “why” it has to be this way!

Great read, highly recommend adding it to the TBR! Also, love all references and talking about sunflowers! 🌻

I have all the feels. Hazel runs away from her small town after the untimely death of her brother. She only returns 5 years later, after her grandma passed away.

She has to face the people she abandoned, and while she does, she finds that she never should have left. Grandma left the b&b and her home to her, but only if she worked with Will, her former love for 3 months.

The tension between Will and Hazel was palpable from the moment they reconnect. It was a lot of fun watching them banter back and forth. The forced proximity helped them overcome their issues quite quickly.

This was a forced proximity, second chance, dual pov romance. I really enjoyed the MCs, but there were some side characters I'm excited to learn more about.

Thank you to Caitlin Klassen for the opportunity to read an advanced reader copy. I am leaving this review voluntarily.

“Sunflowers always face the sun, but when the sun no longer shines, they turn towards each other. They do not run, they keep their feet planted. They hold steady.”

Sunflowers are actually a symbol in my family in honor of my late grandmother. Mawmaw was the epitome of a southern matriarch, and it’s only fitting that a sunflower now represents the women in our family. Several of us have one as a tattoo. This quote will come to mind for me every time I look at mine… serving as a reminder to “ turn towards each other” and “hold steady”.

This second chance romance is a great reminder that no matter what happens in your life, you can always find your way back from it. Years after the absolute worst day of their lives, Hazel and Will’s paths bring them back together, and Hazel has to face some difficult consequences to the choices she made. Through teasing banter between the characters, forced proximity, and miles of forgiveness, an incredible story of redemptive and healing love unfolds. A reminder that “home” isn’t always a place, but a person. Sometimes that home is all we need to heal and start moving forward again.

“You’re a tattoo on my skin. Permanent. Irreplaceable.”

Thank you @authorcaitlinklassen for this ARC. It was healing in so many ways for myself. I lost my brother in a different way but lost him way to early. This book seeing how life can be joyful again with the right people makes my heart happy.
This book was 5 stars for me. I loved that it didn't have third act breakup but was a very adorable grow with the FMC and MMC and seeing their love grow together. The patience and love you created in this book was beautiful!!

Well done and can't wait for book 2 to be released!!
If you need a cute cowboy romance book to read I can't suggest this book enough! Somewhere only we know, was a book that had me giggly and crying and all the cute feels in one. Such a great first Ebook ARC read.

Thank you Caitlin for the early copy of this book. I really enjoyed the small town coziness of this book.

It was heartbreaking in the prologue, check your trigger warnings of bull riding accidents and cancer with death.

I wasn’t keen on the FMC Hazel, she just took off, and I get it after what happened, but stay away for so long and only return when the same fate happened to another family member? It just annoyed me a bit.

I think the MMC Willard forgave her dad too easily, she needed to have to work harder for his affection. I like how it ended. It’s everything you’d want to find in a small town romance, with cute and supportive side characters.

This story is overall a sweet love story that shows growth of the FMC and character development. It's a Canadian cowboy romance, first loves with their lives changed by big trauma. She leaves town and comes back years later and the chemistry is still there but they have to work through why she left and the current situation, of running the ranch and learning to trust each other again.

Tropes:
~ only one bed
~ secret tattoo
~ forced proximity
~ brother's best friend
~ cowboy romance

I received this as an advance reader copy from the author for an honest review. Thank you for the early copy!

Holy hell, this story is beyond amazing! Caitlin delivers trauma, loss, and the kind of grief that crawls under your ribs and stays there, all wrapped in Hazel’s raw, aching journey back to the place she swore she’d never return to. And Will? I love him!! He’s an incredible character, steady, heartfelt, unforgettable, and absolutely one of my new favorites.

Caitlin's writing hits like a tidal wave, the emotional weight is relentless, and the way she balances heartbreak with hope had me crying sad tears and happy tears in equal measure. It’s powerful, intimate, and absolutely unforgettable.

When I found out Caitlin Klassen was writing a cowboy romance I knew it was going to be a excellent read, and I was definitely not disappointed! Small-town romance that deals with themes of grief and absentee parents. This was an emotional read and I recommend you have some tissues handy while you read. I love the banter, only-one-bed, and the sense of home & belonging contained within these pages. Everytime I read one of Caitlin's books I deem it my favourite... at least until the next one comes out!

ARC RECEIVED FROM AUTHOR:

Whew, this was a whirlwind that I just devoured in a single sitting.

First of all, I love me some cowboys. I am an absolute sucker for a small town, cowboy romance and will always eat them up (does that make me biased?)

While I wish there had been a bit more to it, like more exploration of Hazel’s mental health struggles following the loss of her brother, I fully adored Willard and his dedication to his girl.

This book pulled at my heartstrings in all the right ways, and I look forward to exploring more from this author.
